It's not all literature. Most definitely not. I'm getting "worked up" because I care a lot about art, in both the literary and visual form. When I find something that's good literature, even after critically examining it in regards to other, already established good literature, I am compelled to defend its status as actual literature.

By the way, a lot of Shakespeare is in fact fanfiction (or at least parodies) of real life events. :P In fact, the Divine Comedies could be considered fanfictions of the Bible (although the Bible is of course not fiction). The great works of mythology were fanfictions built up from other myths, like the Iliad and Odyssey, and the works that chronicled most of the Greek mythology we have today. :P

They were based on another story or event, which is what fanfictions are. Based on. Ender's Game wasn't based on another story or event; same for The Giver.

But the story that came out of it was sufficiently creative enough to be nearly completely original. I mean, I got my Shapers idea from a dream, and Paper Sky from a song. It evolved into something much more. The fanfictions I referred to were inspired by MLP, and in fact took place in the MLP universe, but they evolved into something much more. MLP is very lacking in detail about mechanics and the world as a whole, and thus is breeding ground for countless original ideas. For good fanfics, the source material is simply a base from which they expand to something nothing short of an original work, save for the fact that it has the location Equestria and has ponies.

I'm being serious. It's pretty frustrating that the only times they can do their stories are either early in the day, when I'm busy with work I have to do, or extremely late at night, when I can't even function. Especially after playing a succession of soccer matches for two nights in a row.

Well I can do my arcs in the Afternoon. In fact, I think I'm the only one who does that. xD
