Tomoko isn't by any means a tall person, nor a strong one. By no means is she overweight, but it's not going to really take more than one look to tell she has no interest in physical exercise. Similarly, other than keeping it cut short and combing it so she isn't walking around with bedhead, she makes no real effort to pretty up her simply brown hair either. Typical Tomoko fashion includes a green waist-length raincoat with frog eyes on the hood (her favorite), jeans, and green rubber boots.

She can solve ridiculous equations in about the time it would take anyone else to put it into a calculator, if not faster depending on the length of the equation.

Bio/Personality: Tomoko strives for greatness in everything she does, and it shows. When she's doing well she's high on victory, and when faced with defeat she quickly falls into apathy and the single-minded desire to claim her place at the top again. The life in her eyes and the spring in her step correlate with her win/loss ratio, or any winning/losing streaks she may be facing. Sometimes a losing streak can cause Tomoko to just isolate herself from everyone else, not leaving her room for days, weeks, or sometimes even months at a time. As long as she can pull a victory out of her hat though, rest assured she'll bounce back eventually.

This insatiable thirst for greatness stems from a very not-so-great past. Tomoko was and still is an extremely intelligent child, years ahead of other children her age in many subjects. However, at least from her perspective, this amazing brainpower of hers was being squandered and wasted by a nomadic lifestyle and the only school she ever knew being her homeschooling. Sometimes she'd get angry and run away. Other times she'd get depressed and lock herself in her room. When she was 12, eventually Tomoko had just given up. No more anger, no more sadness, no more anything really. On all levels except the physical, she'd accepted that maybe not all stars got to shine, and had completely shut down. For a time, she was certain that the scattered few video games she'd get on occasion were her only release from this wasteful existence.

For a time.

Part of the reason for her family's nomadic lifestyle was her mother having more than a little bit of a gambling problem. Whatever money was made quickly found its way into casinos, then underground gambling dens, and eventually lottery tickets. Well wouldn't you know it, one day Mrs. Kimura's existential losing streak had come to an end. Things started improving, and eventually Tomoko - 17 at the time - was able to finally enroll in a real school. Being able to compare her grades to other students and seeing that she was still doing better than more or less the entire school started to snap her out of her long depression. Finding more and more people to play video games with and ultimately besting all of them sealed the deal.

By graduation, she was back on top in grades, gaming, and in spirit. She moved on to get scholarships to Shine City Academy, certain of the path she wanted to take in life. A year later, we have the Tomoko of today. She can sometimes have random fits of anger or sadness, and she takes terribly to losing, but she can be a very thorough and helpful teacher to those not so good with games. She also likes to try and analyze a pattern in any given thing as often as possible, claiming that the whole world can be broken down into numbers, and that as long as she knows what numbers she's working with, she'll become unstoppable. This star is determined to shine.

Iruka was born on northern Japan, to a middle class family, but never could shine when compared to her more talented siblings. Despite that, she never wallowed in self pity simply knowing that she was that and it was good. When she concluded high-school, she managed to snag a scholarship to Shine City Academy and decided to embrace the chance of doing something for herself and by herself. However, how could the naive small town girl know that being an engineer was so hard?

Copen is quite an attractive young man. He is tall at 6’2”, and lithely muscular. His skin is pale and free from blemishes. He has honey-blond hair that sticks up in points when not styled (which takes him a bit of time; he’s fairly vain) and navy blue eyes. His eyebrows and eyelashes are a slightly darker shade of blond. Copen is European (Danish), and his features are sharp in his longer-than-average face. His nose is straight, with no bend to it, and his pale pink lips are thin. He has a sharp jawline that is slightly squared. Copen’s best feature is probably his smile – not necessarily because his teeth are white, but due to its easygoing nature appearance that matches his. He doesn’t intend to break hearts; he simply gets distracted (this is true in other parts of his life as well). He’s quite flirtatious and charming; with a quick smile that crinkles the corners of his deep blue eyes. Copen is a lover of parties and alcohol, and is very loud. He speaks Japanese with a Danish accent.
Copen grew up in Denmark in an upper class family, unsure of what he wanted to do one day. However, he knew that he wanted to visit Japan someday - he was fascinated by the country. He went to an international school that offered Japanese, and took extra classes. He studied at university to become fluent, and moved to Japan for a gap year or two while working in a Danish restaurant. Copen still isn't sure of what he wants to do with the rest of his life and is still 'finding' himself.

Part-English, part-Japanese, Mokyu was taken in by the Mochizukki family with her brother in their early years, and has been eternally grateful for that. Though she's only been recently made aware of the fact she's adopted, she still treats everyone as though they were her family, with all the kindness in the world.

She became interested in music and learned to play the keyboard thanks to her sister, Ryoki, and has learnt how to DJ and remix due to her own practices.

Kaga came from a poor household of a single mother and three sisters, one younger and two older. In an attempt to keep costs down, his mother only bought girl clothes and usually delegate whatever was too small for the older sisters to be worn by Kaga and his little sister. Its not surprising that Kaga would actually think he was a girl, having both looked and acted the part in public.

As he grew older, he of course saw that what he was and what he was supposed to be and the difference between them. This would cause his first mental breakdown that would be solved through and excessive amount of cake and cookies. But once again, Kaga matured and sort of accepted his strange, new founded "third gender". He didn't flaunt too much and hated when people kept pointing it out, he just accepted it.

Then, his mother struck it rich. After both winning a new, well paying job and wining a small time local lottery, she sent her son to Shrine City so Kaga could go to a better school and experience life more in a way his mother never could. Of course by this time, Kaga had learned a few things about the world and played up his feminine side more. So much so that just about everyone thinks he's a girl. Of course, how well he fits this persona varies from day to day and on his mood. He still enjoys playing pranks on people that only someone of the Hideyoshi gender can however.

Profession: Kazu is a student at Shine City Academy, majoring in Genetics, with a minor in Psychology. He works part-time at the Enchanted Florist as a Florist, mostly giving advice on what kind of flowers to give to someone rather than actually growing them.

Bio/Personality:
Kazuma was born into a quite normal family that lived outside of Shine City, he is an only child and his parents are quite well off, allowing him to live comfortably. His grandfather is an Aikido instructor, thus he was trained in the martial art. At first he didn’t really understand the point of learning it, but he soon started to enjoy himself as he trained with the other students. Part of Aikido was the use of the sword, which he was quite interested in. Due to his investment into the martial art, he is very adept with the sword as well as hand-to-hand.

He moved into the dorms at the Shine City Academy when he began his studies, mostly to gain independence from his parents and experience what life had to offer.

Kazu has always been a quiet person. This is mainly due to the fact that he was born mute. His vocal cords just don’t work at all. Thus, he is fluent in sign language, as well as English and Japanese. He understands that most people don’t know sign language, so he opts to use his phone as a way to communicate with others, typing out what he wants to say. He is quite formal in his ‘speech’ and he is very considerate of others, often putting their needs before his own, even if it meant that he was going to get hurt. This kindness can be a fault, as it leads him to be quite gullible at times. He's not the type to look for confrontations, but if you do try to confront him, he will not back down.

He's quite a lax person who tries not to stress to much about what's going on, often taking life as it comes.

He is quite a night owl, often staying up until the early hours of 3am, just walking around Shine Junction, often relaxing in Shiny park. It quite relaxing to him as it helps him feel a little more at peace.

Bio/Personality: Vern started out as the youngest child in a successful family. His grandfather had started with a truck and passed on a farm, a store, a small shipping business, and a storage complex to his children when he died from a heart attack at 78. His widow never had to work for money after he passed and she never lacked for the company of her children since several of them stayed close to home, taking over the management of the family businesses.

Vern's father had the management of the shipping business. That kept him close enough to home and productive enough that, by the time Vern was 18, the man owned a locksmith's shop and a small auto body shop as well. He was well on his way to achieving what Vern's grandfather, his father-in-law, had. Then he started losing weight.

The cancer wasn't fast but it was stubborn. After almost two years Vern's father passed away, not from cancer, but from the chemo and radiation. The cancer had never gotten bigger than a small button. The condolences from the doctors felt less than hollow that day.

Not satisfied with the doctors and their excuses, Vern started studying alternatives to commonly accepted medical practice. His family supported him financially but retained some distance. In their eyes it was just a way of grieving the loss of his father. In a way, part of it was. But then he started finding things. Herbal remedies for cancer that had hardly any side-effects and were not toxic to the patient were the discovery that really turned it from a grief quest to a crusade. He was going to change the world, re-discover these millenia old cures that worked so well for so long, and fix all the evils of modern medicine.

Then the law stopped him. It had actually been made illegal to practice herbal medicine over a hundred years before, back when modern medicine was still in its infancy. So, no matter how hard he looked, Vern wasn't able to find anyone who could teach him the finer points of natural medicine. The crusader spirit died. But, he knew that people were stubborn. Somewhere, hidden in something legal, would be part of what he was looking for. Then he found martial arts, yoga, and the wonders of aroma therapy. Martial arts preserved the understanding of the body with an eye toward using it to break things without suffering injuries. Yoga preserved a profound respect for the body's own ability to heal and the belief that the body's energy could be generated and channeled. Aroma therapy used herbal effects to alter the mind and affect the body. Vern studied all of them but he was no super-student.

He aquired a part of two martial arts, Karate and Aikido, and pair those parts with yoga's emphasis on relaxed extension and mastery of the breath. Then he used what he learned from aroma therapy and began using the oils of medicinal herbs on himself directly, as well as the aroma. The effects were both subtle and significant. He gained a good amount of strength, mostly in his core muscles instead of his arms and legs, and he stopped getting sick as often or for as long. Still, even with those results, he wasn't able to go farther without a proper teacher who knew how to take personal health and make it professional. So, he was stuck. Vern's family were also beginning to lose patience with him. He was rapidly becoming the family's first "black sheep" in generations. They stopped sending money.

So, he looked for work. Being stubborn, upset, and 21, along with some odd situations of questionable legality, resulted in him setting off with a traveling freak show as their newest attraction, "The Limit Breaker". He wasn't on stage alone for months but shared the scene with the group's "Strong Man". It was a fact that he couldn't lift as much weight as the far larger man, but when he slipped during a trick and accidentally threw a 150lb barbell toward the small crowd Vern lived up to his stage name. He got a hand on the barbell and managed to plant it into the stage hard enough that it snapped some of the boards, and he did it with a smile and a victory pose as though it was all part of the act.

It took a week for his arm to heal and another week for it to change back to normal colors instead of a mix of lime green and royal purple, but he was famous. He was glad that he wore a mask and went shirtless during that performance. It was different enough from his normal dress that he was still able to disappear after shows. And there were a lot of shows. Videos captured by cell phones went viral on the internet and the size of the crowds trippled, seemingly overnight. The business was booming. But, the fangirls were becoming a problem.

He was having a harder and harder time getting away without letting anyone get a look at his face. They all had cell phones and the mask was creating a sense of mystery that just kept pulling them in. Eventually, after their last show in Shine Junction, "The Limit Breaker" quit the show and walked away at the height of his popularity with his earnings. He still exchanges e-mails with his former co-worker, the "Strongman". But, other than that he has no real connections other than family.

It took a couple nights at hostels before he found a place that suited him. It was small and out of the way. One of two small apartment additions built on top of a three story, four bedroom house. To get to it he had to follow the, fairly clean, alley around back and then climb three flights of wood stairs that were slippery when wet and worse when icy. But, the owner of the building hadn't been able to get any renters for the house or the other apartment so he cut Vern's rent in half in exchange for help with maintaining the building until it became profitable again. With the reduced rent, Vern could afford the place easily enough but he needed to find a job. Specifically, he needed a job where he could avoid talking to people or attracting attention while getting enough money to take care of business.

He had his personal goals but it was time to live up to the example his father and grandfather had given him. He needed to establish himself so that, if he ran into the right girl, he could take care of her properly so that she could have freedom to live worry free if he happened to die before he planned. It was time to take that budding tradition to the third generation. Step one, get back to earning money and work on finding businesses to buy.

Everything was planned out for Suzy before she could even talk. Born from two distinguished politicians in Korea, it was expected of her to achieve excellence in life. For them, that meant placing at the top of her class and becoming a successful lawyer in her future. Suzy grew up obediently, studying until her eyes dried out and following any orders her parents gave her. It wasn’t until high school did Suzy finally began speaking her opinion.

Planning her outfits and going on endless shopping sprees were things Suzy extremely loved. With her life constantly filled endless equations and rules, her clothes were the only outlet she had. She's also extremely girly, always making sure she smells nice and her nails are perfectly polished. During high school, she stumbled across a photography class and instantly fell in love. At the age of 16, Suzy started her own blog online, using a fake alias, and shared the pictures she took of various fashionable people with the world.

Life for Suzy was all about perfection and because of that, she expects nothing but the best of herself. Things must be done right, otherwise there’s no point. She follows an exact schedule, often OCD at times but the idea of structure puts her at ease and calms her. Lazy and unmotivated people drive Suzy crazy, something she’ll make sure everyone knows. Suzy’s also not afraid to tell people her mind and can be outright bossy. While it might come across as rude, Suzy likes to thinks she tells it as it is. On top of that, she tends to be judgmental about the way people dress. Appearance tends to tell a lot about a person, something Suzy practically lives by.

By the time she turned 18, Suzy had no intention of becoming the perfect lawyer her parents wanted her to be. It didn’t go well though when she skipped the college exams her whole education had been preparing for, resulting in the biggest argument she’d ever had with her parents. After bombshells of truth and shock, Suzy's parents never trusted her again. When she graduated high school, her parents chucked her some money and threw her out the house, disowning her completely. It was the most humiliating thing she’d ever experienced, she even changed her name to Suzy so she wouldn't have to face the mockery of it. Like everything else around her though, Suzy moved on.

With the money her parents gave her, she moved into an apartment and focused all of her energy on fashion and photography. She invested half of the money her parents gave her into local stocks, which eventually grew into enough money to financially support her, but she still worked two part-time jobs for security. Before she even realized it, her blog became incredibly popular among the teen community and had over half a million views. At the age of 20, Suzy received an invitation to work at one of the most popular magazines in Korea, Ceci. With her career rocketing and the stocks flying, by the time she was 23, Suzy was already extremely successful and wealthy for someone of her age.

Ceci Magazine recently issued a story to be done over Japanese fashion, assigning none other than Suzy for the task. They flew her and a new and shy writer to Shine City, where she would spend the next two months collecting pictures and absorbing the overall culture.

A beautiful Japanese woman with pale skin and naturally pink lips. Hair that seems to shimmer in the moonlight along with her eyelashes. Her build may seen non-muscular but she does have quite the strength in her and won't go down easily in a fight.
Her right arm has an X carved into it that was made by her father. It is right on her wrist and she simply thinks of it as a bracelet that she can't take off.

Bio/Personality:
Her past isn't a very happy one. She lived in a rich traditional Japanese home and her mother committed suicide when she was 10, leaving her father to raise her. Her father never looked at her the same after this and always blamed her for what happened. "I don't want to see your ugly, hideous, disgusting face. You should have died instead, you know that, right?" these words came at her hard and while she was young and not capable of suicide, she figured the least she could do was cover her face with a mask that she found in her basement. She wore this mask regularly and always when her father was around. He beat her occasionally (mostly when drunk) but he stopped once he saw all of the scars and bruises he left on her and felt ashamed. But the verbal abuse didn't stop. She ran away at age 17 with a lot of money (A LOT). She has gotten older so she is capable of showing her face in front of others but wears it when she goes out. Had a small stage in her life at this time that involved her making money by working for a famous company that didn't think she was who she was. You can see her without it if you hang around her enough and she doesn't wear it when she is with children only. However, she does feel apologetic when others see her face.
Her personality is sweet and gentle. Hating someone isn't something that she is really capable of doing. She believes in loving everyone equally. She can tell what type of person someone is usually by their smile or eyes but hates to judge right off the bat. If someone with a bad personality comes along, she will try her best to make them smile and not judge them right off the bat. However, she has kept all of her anger in for many years and hasn't cried in 8 years. Adorable and quite dense, fall for her? Good luck making her realize that but making her blush is pretty easy but skin ship doesn't bother her much, as long as it's not sudden (If it is, she will get scared. Daddy issues) . If you manage to get her angry, good luck dealing with it. She's a ticking time bomb and I applaud anyone that manages to set her off. When she was younger, she was scared and bruised and always got into fights since she was going to get hurt at home anyways. These fights were usually with gangsters and just dull idiots. However, she has stopped and wants to forget that part of her past. All in all, she is someone that isn't outgoing but not necessarily shy either. She tries really hard not to be how she was before.

In public, Cynthia is an excellent public speaker, able to fully imitate speeches from some of the greatest public speakers in history. In private, however, Cynthia is a very cold-hearted and cunning person, able to manipulate even the sketchiest of people. Always praised for her astounding level of intelligence, Cynthia is a natural born leader, and, in recent years, has taken to that role well, becoming mayor of Shine City. However, in future she wishes to expand her influence to the Japanese government, and eventually the world. Ambitious, one would say, with more raw willpower than a boar. Intelligence and ambition breed success, or so the saying goes...

Cynthia comes from a diverse background, with her family tree venturing to all sorts of places. With relatives in all kinds of countries, she was a woman with many connections, and thus was almost designed to be successful. Her own family started in America, however she moved to Japan when she was eight with her parents, as the education was better and her parents could still afford to work overseas. Cynthia never took her wealth for granted, and always came to appreciate the things she had. She was a very distant child, but very intelligent, showing signs of a true genius all through her school years, all in order to either take over her family's business or become part of another and make it just as successful.

However, as it would happen, neither of those two options were presented to her. Instead...

... Instead was a pre-arranged marriage with the future mayor of Shine City. Cynthia was a very understanding person, and knew full well why she was given the chance to marry such a "handsome young man", and didn't offer much in the way of complaints. The boy was young and inexperienced, and so Cynthia could work out a variety of benefits for her family and the company in exchange for help in being a good mayor and keeping tabs on everything important. That is, till she got pregnant...

Nine months after the events, and Cynthia gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, named Emily. It was around this time that she actually began to start showing interest in her husband, for more than his title, as she did for her baby girl. Life was looking good for the new-found family: her husband had taken to being mayor of Shine City (finally), and Cynthia was staying at home to take care of Emily. Life was good, and for another seven years, it continued to do so.

... However, that all changed one terrible evening...

It was a rainy September night. Cynthia had been sipping tea alone in the house, watching the stars from a balcony view, in solitude. Emily and her father had gone out to spend some "father-daughter time", which the two quite occasionally spent, since Emily's dad was the mayor and often cherished the moments he could spend with his daughter. The wind was cool, yet relaxing, the soft glow of a full moon shining down from overhead. Cynthia's stomach growled, catching the lady off guard; she hadn't eaten all day and tea certainly wasn't doing a very good job at making her full, and thus she went to the kitchen to get herself something to eat. Despite having maids who were perfectly capable of serving up a delicious meal, Cynthia would often help out and cook alongside them, or cook by herself entirely. It was... interesting in her mind.

Yet, as she passed by the living room -- a section of space that needed to be crossed to reach the kitchen -- Cynthia discovered the TV was still on. She mutters to herself about how Emily must've left it on, and went to retrieve the remote. Something about a car accident was on the news, to which she wasn't really paying attention to...

... at least not until the last moment, where she read the caption below about the crash:

Her breath was caught as she continued watching the news broadcast. "Mayor dead and daughter severely injured," "Taken to Shine City Hospital ER," "We weep over this horrific turn of events." The things they said were hardly making sense. Cynthia knew, she just knew, she had to get to Shine City Hospital immediately. Her daughter just had to be OK. She couldn't have been hurt! However, as she reached the door, the police officer waiting for her told a different story...

Two years later, and Cynthia has reverted to the person she was before she was married: cold, unforgiving, and ambitious. To take her mind off of her daughter who has been in a coma for the past two years, Cynthia turns back to her lifelong ambition of righting the world's wrongs and becoming an empress of true might. She has distanced herself from the bad memory by abandoning her emotion and morality, lying to herself and keeping her past locked away behind a vault with no key. Now, she only strives towards the future, and currently she has one specific goal in mind that she wishes to accomplish so to further her plans and ideals:

Dislikes: Lizz isn't a fan of being kind, for starters. In fact, her whole being practically revolves around sadism and being a bad person, so the only thing she really dislikes is having to be nice for people she doesn't think deserves it. And just so you know, that's a lot of people, however some are treated badly simply because she doesn't know any better. These people being some of her only friends, Oliver and Shou, cop it hard, but she tries her best to not be a prick when it comes to troubling matters.

Bio/Personality: Lizz had a pretty rough upbringing. Without going into too much specifics, mostly because she hasn't told anyone but those she trusts, she was abandoned by her parents when she was young and orphaned. As a little Australian-Japanese orphan girl, she was bullied a lot by the older girls, however became good friends with an orphan boy who was also an orphan there. He helped her grow into a strong and powerful person who could floor those bullies with both words and physical strength, and they grew close towards the end of their teenage years. However, the boy died in a car accident when he was learning to drive, and Lizz was left alone again. With no future in mind, she decided on undertaking what he had dreamed of becoming for so long: a soldier in the military.

The first day was by far the worst. She back-talked the drill sergeant and angered him beyond comprehensible words, and was put with a certain unit as 'punishment' instead of going straight to the unit with which she hoped. As it would happen, this lead to the fateful encounter of her two best (and presumed only) friends: Shou Matsuoka and Oliver Holland.

At first, the spiteful little bundle of anger and negativity resented the two, but soon came to accept them, as well as the rest of the unit, through some stroke of luck. Despite her insults, rudeness and anger issues, Lizz has found comfort in knowing they are so far the only two people who have come to accept her for who she was - the girl that boy had created, so long ago. Maybe it wasn't the best history in the world, and she knew she sure as Hell had some fine-tuning to do, but with friends like these, she didn't need anything else.

After the unit split up and the three went to pursue their dream jobs, Lizz stayed in the army awhile longer, however soon found herself kicked out due to not getting along with anyone else there. That's how she found herself in the "Hypo Threat" Private Military Corporation, as a "security" contractor. It was basically everything she ever hoped for: alone on the field, getting to do all the cool, secret agent type shit, with a bunch of super cool equipment. However, because of that, she hasn't been in contact with the other two much since...

Though now, taking her first monthly "break" from PMC work, Elizabeth has found herself coming to Shine City, at the doorstep of an old friend, hammering it and yelling for him to "wake the fuck up!".

Bio/Personality
Arty is a real softy at heart, though this should be expected from a man who grew up in a house with five older sisters and three younger ones. He grew up being told how he had to respect a lady and how to appreciate the more feminine things in life, like good home cooked meals. Though things weren't all sweet in Arty's life seeing as his dad was a mean drunk that liked to knock his wife and kids around, often waving his old revolver around to threaten them even further. This went on for years until Arty was about thirteen and he finally stood up to his dad. It was a pretty bad fight, but Arty won and kicked the scum out of the house, telling him that he wasn't aloud anywhere near his family from that point onward. Seeing himself as the man of the house Arty got himself a bunch of odd jobs to help bring some money in. After a while though Arty was able to find himself a job in Shine City that was paying more than double all his odd jobs combine were. So he packed up and moved, he still sends as much money as he can back to his Mum and three little sisters, his older sisters had already moved out a while ago.

He doesn't believe that he hurt Nai but thinks of it as fatherly punishment. As a child he was abused severely but his parents always made it seem like they were doing it for him. Nai was a simple mistake and they were not supposed to have any children but his wife was too kind and decided to keep her. However, she soon committed suicide after finding that the stress was too much for her. She had a very weak mind.
His personality is pretty bad... He doesn't mean for it to be and does try to be kind but usually he is found being rude, arrogant, sarcastic, and cruel.
