That is what I believe. She was the first to see past rank and everything an treat Pearl as a gem not as some tool or servant. She saw her as her and that made Pearl feel special. It made her want to be there for Rose because Rose actually cares about Pearl.

Hmm it is hard to say if it is religion or not. The temples we have seen so far are one for combat, one that told the history of Gem war which could have been for training or a never ending punishment, we have seen the gem temple which is more of a home base, the one that the heaven beetle was at but that hardly had any information or anything really religious and the sea spire was said to be a hub. A communication and a place to meet with others if I remember right. The other one was a place to protect the time thing.

Most of them again had a purpose so not really sure they do have a religion but it could be possible

Because Pearl's don't stand up for themselves. They probably don't speak out and are just used as servants or as combat practice. They are made to be quiet and followers. This is why she said to Garnet that she was just a Pearl and that she wasn't strong. That she needed someone to give her orders or to serve. That is why she likes being fused with Garnet because their relationship is special plus they are strong and confident, Pearl likes feeling that way.

It took Garnet telling her that she had changed. That she really was different and strong. That she didn't need someone to order her around
