We encourage things to be a little more open so that you can enjoy the explanations during the writing. Hopefully, they can explain their own characters and why much better than me.
Yes, in the past we did have the government try to dabble in and find out just how dangerous or what was going on with these Gem beings. I might add it in again and I may not. I'll see what the story calls for at certain moments since we have multiple ideas on how to make things interesting for not only the gems but this City. I am leaving it a surprise for a reason.

Not all of them are aware of the exsistence of Gems but it is not like the Gems can keep it a secret that they exsist if they need to take care of a threat.
Carmen knows about Gems because of meeting one in the past which leads him to want to know more. The Gem gave him a comfort he didn't find in others because of his difference.
Reggie is not only curious and tech savvy but goes where he shouldn't which would be the Kindergarten. Not many know about below but where there is a will there is a way. Many things, as we have seen were left behind at the kindergartens.
If we go back to actual SU, no one really knows about the gems but none of them seem weirded out by Gems or the fact they are there. They went to Empire City and nothing. Even Beach City never really cared much about them being there or the thought they were aliens. The Gems just kept to themselves.
It would not be unusual for kids to pick on another child thinking they were something weird or unknown. Yeah, they are saying they are a Gem but do they even know what that is? No, not at such a young age. They are drawing from looks and the unknown of what they have seen and or heard.
It would be like a kid saying your arm looks like a cheese grater because the other has a rash. Yeah they are both bummy and it isn't really an insult but it could be taken as such. It is drawing from something they have seen.

Looks good, the only thing that might be a problem is if my Co-GM thinks the weapons is too complex but I am not sure they will. I will wait to see their opinion but it has my approval! Please wait for his approval ^_^
