Do you think the reason Jesus Christ doesn't rise again is because we keep putting up crosses and he gets flashbacks on how that went last time?

It’s a brand new day in Salem, Illinois. After an eventful day for some of Salem’s most prominent citizens, this new day presents its own batch of challenges to test the limits of their patience and how much they can handle. But it is also a day to let loose and have a little fun. Whether you’re a member of the Horton, Carver, and Brady families hanging by the lake for the 55th Annual 4th of July Celebration, a member of the Castillo Family enjoying the day with either your family or somewhere in town, or a Zima at home, celebrating the 26th birthday of the second-eldest child, Katinka Zima, this is a day full of wonders and happiness. It’s filled with love.

Whatever happened before today, it does not matter. Be with the ones you love. Enjoy the day as much as you can. Give your all to the celebration. Give your all to your family and friends. Have a blast and never forget that the Sands of Time stops for no one, so savor each and every moment while you can.

MENTIONEDAli, Colin, Adrian, Kat, and Eli
TIME7-8 AM

As she sat there in her bed for nearly thirty minutes, Eva thought about yesterday and how so many things happened. Some good like seeing her big brother, Alec back in town. It was nice seeing him, though he did look like he had seen better days. There were also some unfortunate like running into Eli Horton and how his girlfriend, Ali Brady, thought that somehow she had something worry about by Eva and Eli knowing each other. The fact that someone put the idea in her head that something was going on with Eva and the redhead’s boyfriend was outrageous. Eva tried to explain it to her that it wasn’t what it looked like, but by the time Eva finished, Ashton told her to get back inside.

No one would have ever thought Evangeline Zima would willingly leave a conversation, but when her supervisor requested her back in, she took it without a moment’s hesitation. And then, when she recalled the moments that followed, Eva met this boy. She had served him drinks earlier in the night. “I think he was that cop Brady's brother. Uh, Colin? No, that’s the brother’s name. Zeke?” She murmured, trying to remember his name. “Oh! Zeke. Ezekiel. I don’t know. He was cute, though.”

Suddenly, she found her thoughts about yesterday leave her as the blonde would now be solely focusing on Zeke. His face. The way his hair seemed to compliment his boyish features. And those eyes of his, they were like two pieces of delicious milk chocolate that she could get lost in forever. And unlike most boys/men around her age, who all seemed to be concerned with getting her into bed, by the way, Zeke was so nice. She only talked to him for a few moments, but when Colin had stepped away with Adrian Castillo (yes she knew of him from her encounters with his siblings), she was able to squeeze in words here and there. Though short, Eva got a really good vibe from him. She gave him her number before he left so they could perhaps meet up later today before all of the celebrations.

“Well, actually…”

Eva rolled off her bed, reaching over to her nightstand. She struggled to get her phone on the first try, though she managed to snag it on the second one. Scrolling through her phone, she landed on Zeke’s name. She started to type a message - a message that said the following:

Okay, that felt good. Like really good. Eva had a positive feeling surge through her body after she sent the trio of text messages Zeke’s way. She hoped he didn’t think she was weird or anything. Oh god, what if he does? She nearly lost it again and was going to pick up her phone and send him another one. Thank Allah that she was stopped by a knock on her door. Oh the God was being good to her today.

“Eva? You awake?” She heard her father knock a few times. Hard.

“I’m up, papa!”

Under normal circumstances, her father would’ve left well enough alone, but today was obviously not like all days, so he walked in. Eva wasn’t improper, but she wasn’t presentable in the way her father would’ve liked. She was wearing a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. And as Dmitri walked in her room, dressed like he was about to walk into Zima Enterprises and run the empire like he did every day.

“You’re still not dressed, Eva?”

“I’m sorry, Papa. I had a late shift at The Edge last night. I didn’t get home until 3.”

“Is everything okay, sweetheart?”

“Oh yeah, it’s all fine here. Just tired, is all.” That was the biggest fib that left Eva’s mouth. And she knew that her father knew it.

Damn it.

Dmitri took a seat next to Eva. “Talk to me. What’s going on?”

Eva hesitated, unsure if she wanted to take the focus away from Kat. Today was her big day. Though Kat wouldn’t make a big fuss about it, Eva wanted it to be as special for her. Talking about her silly schoolgirl crush on Ezekiel Brady was not only doing the total opposite of what Eva wanted to do, she didn’t know how to explain it to her father without setting off his overprotective dad instincts.

“You know I won’t leave until you tell me. So, out with it, Eva!”

She pouted, though she eventually just sighed and gave into her father’s persuasive demands. She couldn’t possibly say no to him. She was, after all, daddy’s little girl. “I’m not sure how to say it, but I kind of like this guy.”

“Kind of?”

“Well, it’s all still new. I met him while at work last night. His name is Zeke Brady.”

“Oh.”

That’s all that Dmitri said, but it held such weight in poor, Eva’s heart. “Oh? Why ‘oh’?”

“I know of a Brady. He’s a detective on the Police Force. Not a bad guy, I suppose. He has issues.”

“What sort of issues?”

Dmitri seemed to be thinking about it. “It’s not really important. What matters is that you seem quite smitten with this boy. I can just tell by the way you speak about him. You should invite him to your sister’s party.”

“I mean..” Suddenly Eva was grabbing at her blanket, looking away.

“Unless you already did.”

“I texted him. No reply yet.”

Dmitri laughed.

“What’s so funny?”

“Oh, no I’m not laughing at you, angel. You just remind me so much of your mother when I first met her. Believe it or not, but she was just like you.

She didn’t know what he meant by that. Her mother was nothing like her. Eva was so sunshine happy-go-lucky all the time, though this morning was an exception since she’s been all butterfly-nervous. Natasha, her wonderful mother, was confident and her hero. She was the type of person Eva hoped to be. Her mother and Kat, though her sister’s demeanor was sometimes more like their father’s, have almost the same level of grace and confidence. Then there was Eva. Now, that wasn’t to say she didn’t have her own confidence, but there were so many better women than her. She just didn’t compete.

Eva, once again, got lost in her own thoughts and completely forgot to respond to her father. “Oh, I’m so sorry, Papa!”

Dmitri smiled at her, waving away her apology. “No need for that.” He clapped his hands, standing up. “I’m going to go downstairs. Why don’t you shower and join us whenever you’re ready? Your sister, I’m sure, will be thrilled to see you, as will your mother.” Dmitri held his arms out, inviting her to give him a big hug.

And so she did. She hugged Dmitri as tight as she could, almost holding on for dear life. “I love you, Papa,” Eva said affectionately.

“And I you, angel.”

She stayed on her bed a few minutes after her father left, letting all the thoughts that had come and gone from her mind return only to leave again. This time, however, she took this as the perfect time to do something productive. Today was hopefully going to be a good day for her and her family.

Hopefully...

Nothing in the past twelve hours gave Colin any joy. If he could erase the last day from his memory, then he would, but nope! He had to remember being reduced to a lapdog for that god-forsaken Castillo family. If it was bad enough that he had to do their bidding during the day, when he was trying to enjoy his night off from the hell at his day job - running on little sleep and a lot of caffeine, mind you - that bold Adrian Castillo had the gall to pull him away from Zeke, whom Colin was trying to get to let loose, so he could serve as a bodyguard. The only upside of that whole ordeal was the free drinks that were put on Adrian’s tab. The downside? Colin woke up with the worst hangover of his life.

But thank that stupid Jesus Christ for his family’s hangover cure.

“Let me guess? Hungover again.” Shawn shook his head at his son. “Honestly, Colin, this is the fifth day in a row. You need to pace yourself or that liver of yours will give up on you.”

Colin didn’t bother responding to his father. One, he didn’t feel like wasting his words, especially not when it came to Shawn. And honestly? Colin was feeling like shit. He didn’t even want to hear the sound of his own voice, let alone the sound of Shawn’s judgmental tone.

“Not going to talk, huh? Fine, have it your way.” Shawn rolled his eyes, pouring Colin a cup of coffee. “Your Clam Chowder will be ready in five minutes. And, if you can make it, come by the lake later. I don’t care if you don’t want to see me at all. Do it for your mother and siblings. They’ll miss you.”

He pretended he didn’t hear any of that, but Colin had no choice. And as much as he didn’t want to admit it, his father was right for a change. He could harbor a hatred for his father all he wanted, Colin would never hold that same kind of negativity towards the rest of his family - least of all those who never judged him like Shawn did. His mother, his sister, Ali, and brother, Zeke - especially Zeke. those three were the main reasons he hasn't offed himself. They are the reason why Colin didn’t drown himself even further into an early grave, or, god-forbid, retreat back to the reason why he’s a recovering drug addict.

“Fine, I’ll stop by this afternoon,” Colin said as Shawn had stopped. He didn’t turn around, though one could assume there was a sense of pride and happiness in Shawn. Of course, Colin wouldn’t know this. Both men were too proud to even ask that question. Shawn simply went back to his duties as current manager of the Brady Pub.

Not before long, Colin’s order of his Great-Grandmother’s famous chowder came in a bread bowl. Growing up, Colin always loved eating her chowder. He knew the recipe, but he couldn’t make it worth shit. Thankfully, the chef they had working at the Pub was a genius. It was so tasty. It had a salty, yet spicy, flavor to it. The secret was to toss in an extra pinch of red chili flakes and a dab of the house specialty hot sauce. Colin liked it extra spicy, especially when he needed a quick fix for his consistent hangovers.

Colin finished the bowl in record time. The same waiter came by to refill his coffee and take the empty bread bowl to the kitchen. When they left, Colin took out his phone, going to a specific contact. It was Jess. He sent the following text:

As he set his phone down on the table, Colin let the thought sink in about Jessica Horton - the one who got away, or maybe instead of that, the one Colin screwed up with. Yeah, that sounded more accurate. He didn’t even know if she would be willing to meet up. Truth be told, one other reason why he wouldn’t have shown up at the lake today wasn’t just because of his father. It wasn’t just because of his strained relationship with some of the members of the town. It was not wanting to dredge up old, painful memories for Jess. If he removed himself from her social life, she wouldn’t need to be reminded of the shit time they had during their high school days.

Oh well. Only time will tell if she wants to or not.

@Renny

Let it be known that, regardless of which RP Jaakuna is used in, he always has been and always will be a reckless, act first, think last kind of character.

“Reunited and it feels so good~”

Jaakuna sang to the tune of Reunited by Peaches & Herb as his golden eyes were laid upon the forms of the bickering duo of Ayame and Tatsuya. But as he did, he did not appreciate that quip that Tata-san made. As much as he liked the guy, he hated how he always drew the short end of the stick when it came to the group. It wasn’t his fault that King Yama made him a short fucker. Jaakuna will always resent that godly man for creating his ancestors in such ways that robbed them of a strong vertical base.

After they got all caught up with each other, the greetings and additional comments made Team Slacker, which was currently led by Tatsuya who seemed to be — at least for this moment — more impatient than Team Slacker’s resident impulsive knucklehead, Jaakuna Hoshinikko. Whatever had fueled his desire to run towards the danger, Jaakuna wasn’t far behind him and Ayame. He matched their pace. Though, as the trio approached the source of the eerie feeling they all felt before, Jaakuna just knew this was a bad idea. Even if they were equipped with the means to handle whatever the supernatural threw at them, deep in Jaakuna’s gut, he had a really bad feeling about it as if something deep in his core was tugging at him to go the opposite direction.

Ah, it’ll be fine.

The group eventually made their way to the source and boy was it a sense-jerker. Jaakuna had been doing this whole demon-killing business for a few months now. He had experience with these spirits and no-good-doers. They were small-fry, apparently, but this one — Jaakuna didn’t like it. The way the visage of the source of the bad feeling he had been sensing all day sent chills down his spine. And in addition to the lightning storm that came with it, Jaakuna was regretting following his two friends. There had been a moment where Jaakuna thought about running, but seeing this demon, apparition — whatever it was — had given Jaakuna no doubt they wouldn’t be allowed to leave. So, what would be their next course of action? As much as it pains Jaakuna to admit it, there really was only one thing that they could do.

Ignore Ayame and fight!

“Let’s do this!”

Jaakuna let out a battle cry, his spirit energy kicking into high gear as his Celestial Spirit Stars started to form in front of him. On his command, he sent two of the four that had been produced at the demon’s general direction. “Celestial Spirit Stars!”

“What are you talking about? I’m always careful!” Kai said a little louder than intended. As per the usual, it garnered him a few curious looks from a few of the castle guests. They weren’t the ones that Kai was worried about, honestly. He saw the way Cielle was urging him to use his inside voice. The worst part of it all was how loud his voice was just right actually was his inside voice. Kai didn’t know any other volume to talk whilst inside.

The blond teen would collect his thoughts, looking around the party. He hadn’t been to one of these kinds of parties before, so he couldn’t make heads or tails of how they would appear when they were near the end or not. Truth be told, Kai was more worried about earning that death glare from Cielle again rather than making a fool of himself in front of all the nobles. As far as he’s concerned, he was Anna and Elsa’s guest. If they didn’t believe him, they could just ask the new queen and her sister.

“Well, then shall we go hunting for clues, Scoob!” Kai joked, grinning Cielle’s way.

Psyched, Kai was all smiles, and he was about to lead Cielle away from the party, but something caught not only his attention but the entire party’s attention as well. All eyes were directed where Kai remembered Anna and Elsa being. He couldn’t quite hear what was happening. He heard some whispers from the party guests and he heard Anna’s voice, though it was still too far away for him to know exactly what was said.

“Let’s go see what’s happening--” Before Kai could get out another word, he--and everyone else-- was suddenly hit with a cold breeze. It was so sudden that it knocked Kai flat on his butt. “What in all that is holy was that?”
@Bee The arrangement is good. Her vocals and raps(?) were also good. The song as a whole has a nice, chill vibe to it. I could see myself listening to this a few more times and not getting tired of it. That alone says a lot about how good of a song it is. And with that being said, I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

New Death Cab song. Figured this is the best place of any to share.

Andrea Jenine Banks had been looking forward to this day for nearly a full year and if you knew AJ Banks like most of her closest friends did (like Lia and Cole), then you knew that she had this entire week cleared off her schedule as soon as she knew the exact date. With how she reconnected with Nicole after a few years of sporadic conversations here there (mostly when they each had birthdays or their respective college graduations). She was forever thankful that life gave them a second chance to be in each other’s lives as they were back in their high school days - nay, even better than it was before.

To make it to her flight in time and to be able to have enough time to double check everything, AJ had to wake up bright and early. This wasn’t a problem for her since she always was up at the crack of dawn. Given her job working as a director’s assistant to an upcoming director that Steven Spielberg himself recommended AJ work for until she finishes her year stint with him, she was used to waking up even before the birds themselves were chirp-chirp-chirping away. Even before the clock’s big hand hit the six, she had already made her way out of her apartment with her luggage and carry-on bag in each hand. Within record time, she managed to get down the four flight of stairs without tumbling over all of the luggage she was bringing with her.

Like she usually does, AJ had the good fortune of getting through the front door of her apartment building just as her Uber pulled up. “Andrea Jeni-Jeniene Banks?”

AJ greeted her Uber driver with a big smile. “Just call me AJ. It’s a lot easier,” she giggled.

“Very well, AJ. Allow me!” the Uber said, offering to load up her luggage for her.

What a gentleman he is.

Typically, she was a front seat kind of gal but AJ really didn’t want to be rude, so she parked it in the backseat of her Uber’s 2017 Toyota Highlander. And as she took her seat behind the passenger seat (her preferred seat when sitting in the back seat row), she was absolutely amazed at how roomy it was. She didn’t have a car. Living in New York that wasn’t the suburbs made that completely useless. You could cover more ground by walking or riding a bike, so she didn’t know that these kinds of cars had so much room in the back. It was really amazing, honestly. She was mind blown.

Time would escape AJ’s attention as she, through no fault but her own habit of losing track of time when she’s neck-deep into something that has her complete attention. For this moment in particular, AJ was invested in a conversation via skype texting she was having with her brother, Cam. She was going on about how gracious and nice her Uber was and Cam constantly was teasing how she had a crush on him or something. Flushed with red, she spent the past hour assuring and then reassuring her big brother that it simply was not true. Yeah, just keep telling yourself that, Andi!

As she got out of the SUV, she thanked Hank, her uber driver, for driving her all the way to Queens so she could board her plane to Las Vegas. When she glanced at her phone, she realized that she had about an hour to find her terminal, get her ticket and everything else she needed out and ready. Giving Hank a hug, she smiled and waved as he drove off.

And within that hour, AJ got herself a little snack to tide her over for the next five or so hours, which if she did her math right, would put her in Las Vegas by noon, given that it was currently 7:05. Eventually, her flight was ready and she was the first in line. She would have to give her big sis Vio for gifting her with a first class ticket. Truthfully, AJ wasn’t like her mother or sister who fancied themselves the extravagant means of living. She was a simple girl with simple needs, so imagine her surprise when she was brought to her seat.

“Oh my god, is this really how Vio and mom enjoy their flights?!” The floored AJ was actually paralyzed by how stunning the decor was. The seats looked like clouds you just wanted to lay in and never get up from.

“Complimentary champagne, Miss Banks?”

She slowly nodded, taking the glass and, by association, her seat. AJ would get lost in the amazement of the sky and clouds and how all of this seemed so surreal. She half-knew what to expect. She had asked her family about the first class experience. Though they all seemed to have their own opinion about it, they all did agree that when you do experience it for the first time, there wasn’t anything quite like it. While she might not go, first class, every time she needed to take a plane somewhere, AJ’s eyes were wide open to the finer things in life.

But these comfortable chairs, though. Like, oh my god they were probably the best thing about the entire flight. As AJ came off the literal high of first class and the plane arrived at the Las Vegas International Airport, if there was one thing she’d take away from this entire experience, it was that there truly wasn’t anything like it.

AJ took a simple taxi ride from Las Vegas International to the hotel in which she’d be staying at for the duration of the week and the weekend. Along the way, she found the city of Las Vegas captivating. From a filmmaker’s perspective alone, each and every location from the good, the bad, the ugly - everything about it - told a story of people in suffering, a story about people drawn to their own vices, and the rich history that it held had her spinning in ways that she welcomed. As great and historic it all was, AJ found herself absolutely speechless by all of the famous hotels: the Pink Flamingo, Trump, and Hilton, the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace. All of these hotel/casinos that made the strip so famous for both good and bad reasons. The greed and the money wasted; the shootings and violence. Everything intertwined in a circle of sin and death. It painted a flawed, broken picture that, with the right brush and colors, it would be revitalized with life and color and vibrancy of the old.

She felt her heart melting for this city and even more so when she saw the sight of Seara Hotel and Resort. This was her stop, it seemed. Paying attention to the meter, she saw she owed about fifty dollars. Just of the ride and the chance for her to experience the city at eye-level, AJ willingly gave the taxi driver a big tip. In addition to the owed-$50, she threw in an extra fifty that would serve as his tip.

“Have a nice day, Ms. Banks!”

“And you as well, Mr. Cab Driver!”

With the help of a bellhop taking her luggage, she walked alongside them to the front desk. Andi was greeted by the sight of an elder man of Hispanic ethnicity. He had a shaved head and smiled professionally at her. “Hello, may I help you?”

“Good afternoon, Mr...Lopez -- Mr. Lopez, good afternoon. I have a room, I believe.”

“Name?”

“Andrea Banks.”

“One moment,” he said, tapping away at his computer. After about a minute, he alerted AJ with an “A-ha!” He looked at AJ with a smile, “Miss Banks, age 25. Female. You are part of the collective room reservations made by one Nicole Seara.”

“Y-you’re kidding, right?”

The man shook his head, though it didn’t seem AJ was a believer. To prove it to her, he turned the computer screen so she could see it. “It says Reservation of 8 Sake Suites by Nicole Seara.”

Even though she clearly saw and read it, AJ was still in a state of shock. “She really is amazing!” AJ let out a squeal of delight, overcome with love for one of her closest friends. She was so thankful and grateful to have Cole for a friend. She would definitely hug that woman when she saw her.

She wouldn’t waste another second. With the help of the bellhop cart, AJ made her way into the elevator. Riding it until the designated floor, she dragged on the cart with her luggage to her room. As soon as it would open, she stood there in the doorway. Still. She wasn’t moving. Her eyes were wide with wonder and her mouth open as those eyes of hers saw the space in the room. How could Cole afford this? What--wait, Saera… “Of course!” For someone who prided herself in being alert and keen to the most obvious of things, AJ sure took a long time connecting the dots of the hotel with Cole’s surname. It was her family’s hotel. Even after she made that realization, it still didn’t help to quell her astonishment as she looked around. This room was far too big for just one person.

Breathe, Andrea. Just breathe. It’s going to be okay. Just...take a bath and relax. You deserve that much.

Say it to oneself and it shall happen. AJ rendered herself of all physical garments, ran her bath with warm water and bubbles, and she allowed the sounds of the city to fill her up with a gleeful euphoria as she sank into the soapy bubbles.

Letting a breath out, she murmured the following: “I wonder what everyone else is doing?”

So far, this day was turning out to be quite the eventful one. Kicking some 10th grader's asses without them even knowing what really happened. To the best of their knowledge, Jaakuna was just that damn good at fighting, which he wasn’t going to deny that it was the absolute truth. He could’ve probably taken them on without the use of his powers. The reason he didn’t, however, as he had things to do and his Celestial Spirit Stars were useful when they needed to be. It wasn’t as if he gave them the full brunt of his powers. He understood these abilities that he had were to be used wisely. You know, great power and responsibility. Jaakuna simply used them as an extension for his arms and legs. They only added an additional boost to the end result - which was them being laid the fuck out.

But, of course, that had nothing to do with what literally just happened in the span of only a few minutes. Jaakuna was walking down the main street leading to the marketplace where most of the convenience stores were, Jaakuna smiled as he spotted Ayame and Tatsuya. As always, the two were bickering. Whatever happened, he knew it was an overreaction from Tata’s part. Ayame would never do anything to intentionally annoy him. Hah! Yeah right. But still, it was nice to see them after his morning exercise. Jaakuna would’ve liked to have seen them when it was still light out. The sun suddenly had vanished; and in its place, dark thunderclouds and bolts of lightning flashing with them, illuminating the area around them somewhat. Whatever this was, Jaakuna knew the weather guy this morning, who had promised clear skies and a decent, welcomed breeze, was likely to get fired or run out of town by a bunch of angry people who were expecting to spend the day out with their families.

“Well, that’s not my problem!” Jaakuna shrugged, running across the street. Fortunately for him, no cars or animals were harmed in this production of Walking Across the Street. After a bit, he caught up to Ayame and Tatsuya. And just before he would be able to speak, Jaakuna suddenly felt...something. He didn’t know what exactly but Jaakuna has never felt anything this strong before. “Please tell me you two felt that as well. I seriously hope that I’m not just imagining it.” Jaakuna said a little frantically to Ayame and Tatsuya, looking up at the sky. Whatever it was, something in him was pointing him towards the direction of the sky.
