So, it was the senior year already, huh? Where had the time gone? It seemed like it was only yesterday when Jackson Drake Jr was entering the halls of King’s Academy as a naive freshman, being overwhelmed by the sheer size of the massive high school campus. Everything that was around him was new and foreign. All of the major buildings for most of the main subjects were spread throughout the spacious campus (within reason, of course), but to a short and spout then-14-year-old, it was too much. And as one could expect, he had gotten lost so many times that it wasn’t even funny after the tenth time. At that point in his first semester, Sonny, as he preferred to be called, had his luck run out. He got detention.

And since that first day of sitting in the old 10th-grade history class (where detention had been held for 5 years), Sonny had eventually made himself in a seat in the back of the class. Over the past three years - now four, apparently - Sonny had grown accustomed to sitting in that seat at least once a week - three if he was feeling extra rebellious. Yes, Sonny Drake was basically the resident bad boy of King’s Academy. One would think it went to one of his best bros, Kavi, or even Archer, but nope! That bad throne is reserved for a special kind of degenerate. And it takes a special kind of misfit to continuously be sent to detention. Sometimes, people think that he enjoyed being sent there. And to that, he would reply.

“I mean, it’s getting me out of class, so why not, right?”

To those good-doers, it probably was a taboo and controversial response, but Sonny didn’t mind it one bit.

As Sonny sat at a table not far from the cafeteria, he let out a sigh. He didn’t know what time it was now, but he had to come in early because he assumed he’d be the first one. Oh sure, he’d get up early for school - let alone the first day - but he won’t apply the same commitment to his karate. The irony of Lazy Sonny at its finest. But hey! On this Tuesday, Sonny was actually in a good mood. And that meant he was likely not to get into any trouble for at least a week.

“Mr. Drake, you sure here early.”

‘And like that, Sonny’s self-promise to not get into any trouble seemed like a distant dream. And it was all because of the slightly-overweight latino man that was standing over him. His name was Nicko Gomez. The guy who holds the record for sending Sonny to detention the most. In just one school year, Sonny was sent to detention at an approximate sixty times by this man - this man whose class had always been English - found Sonny to be such a bother that he didn’t want to deal with him in Sonny’s sophomore year. Easily the one teacher Sonny came really close to actually decking.

Remain calm. This guy is not worth it, Sonny.

“Decided to set a good example for the rest of you. And what about you? Just get back from the local taco truck or something?”

Mr. Gomez laughed, “‘as ignorant as always, I see. But no, I’m here to open up my class. Do be good, Mr. Drake.”

Sonny watched Gomez walk away, the urge to shout some sort of racial slur strong within him but he, again, restrained himself. But god-forbid he wants have a little fun, huh? Man, this fucking sucks.

Sonny took out his phone, going on a texting frenzy. He sent a group text to the Misfits.

“Get your asses here to the bench close to the cafeteria. Gomez pissed me the hell off.”

What had started out as an innocent - albeit quite nosey and curious-based - thought to go explore the castle and find out more about what was happening, one thing Kai wasn’t expecting was for the temperature to drop nearly its entirety. Additionally, when this cold breeze had hit his face and body so suddenly, he was so taken by surprise that his brain had not fully prepared his legs. Before he knew it, Kai was flat on his face. Just as soon as he had fallen, however, he was pulled to his feet by Cielle, which in turned earned her a nod of appreciation from him. As it would appear, she didn’t see it. Kai soon saw why.

Kai’s eyes followed where Cielle’s eyes were fixated at; although Kai was slower than she was. It took him about three seconds longer than it had taken Cielle, but once he did, he saw that she was looking at Anna following Elsa out the door. Kai didn’t know what exactly had happened, but he was about to find out.

Kai followed the lead of Anna and Cielle, reaching the courtyard. It was at this point that the blond teen couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “It’s so...white.” He managed to say. The sky, which was blue with a touch of white clouds previously, was no longer that. It was pure white and the winds have picked up to where they produced a rather chilling breeze. Additionally, Kai noticed the temperature of the area had dropped nearly almost all of its previous levels.

The only thought Kai had running through his mind was the pure and simple one of how come it was so cold? And why didn’t he pack a parka of some sort? Kai sighed loudly, looking to Cielle briefly before actually running ahead to where Anna was at, but it was obvious to him that she wasn’t staying put. While Kai and Cielle adjusted to the new weather conditions, Anna, the dark-haired man from before, and the some creepy-looking short man had some kind of conversation that caused Anna to take off on a horse.

When he saw that, Kai took off following her, looking back at Cielle. “Well, c’mon then! We’ll lose her if we don’t follow her!” Kai said to Cielle, smiling as he, like Anna just moments before him, had ran through the castle gates.

Sonny Drake

a p p e a r a n c e . d e t a i l s. Sonny, for the most part, is just an average, somewhat pale high school senior. He stands at an average height at 5’7, which given his parents and their above-average height, he struck high on the short spectrum. His weight also follows and his build is roughly lean with, well a lean, towards being skinny. Yeah, he’s been told he doesn’t work out as often as he should (both by his wrestling and football coaches and his sensei). As far as hair is concerned, some call it dirty blonde and some call it a medium brown. Sonny calls it a gift from dad. And his eyes? Well, they are definitely from his mother. In the right amount of light, a bright hazel is what you’ll see but in every other situation, an almost cream colored shade is seen, like honey, which is to offset Sonny’s own bitter, often mistakenly called “Rat Face”. It is a mug he adores and it is somewhat square in its overall shape. As someone who rarely gives two shits about his own appearance, Sonny doesn’t really have a very diverse closet of clothes. Sure, he has a lot due to his family really enjoying spending their money, but Sonny isn’t a man of diverse tastes. Give him good pair of jeans (name brand only of ocurse) and he’s a happy Drake. Shirts of varying lengths can be seen: tanks, tees, long-sleeve shirts, and a few jackets. All of them are either “ghetto” in design; the sort of t-shirt one might have seen on a 2000s kid’s myspace profile. He also fashions himself a fan of band apparel and, of course, his father’s business of Asgard Fitness. Everything else is a bit generic being that he has some shoes for the seasons as they come. Sonny has both of his ears pierced and had his tongue pierced until he got an infection on it when he was 16. He has a few dead nerves on his left forearm after burning it when his then dirtbike malfunctioned. The skin is partially burnt and, though it has retained its normal color, there is a rather noticeable black spot on his outer-forearm. Sonny has just two tattoos. One of them is on the back of his right shoulder blade. It is of a sun with sunglasses on, smiling. The other is located on his dead nerve blackspot. He turned it into its own yin-yang symbol with white being painted over it. u p b r i n g i n g. s y n p o s i s. By now, the names of Jackson Torvald Drake and Violet Jessabelle Banks-Drake are household names in not only the states but worldwide. Viola, the socialite daughter of Hungarian Real Estate Mogul, Evangeline Keller-Banks and International Banker, Cameron Banks and Jackson Drake, the ever-famous “Lightning Dragon” of MMA, has been the most unlikely of couples but when you two powerhouse names together in this unlikely union, something just works. And the sparks clicked almost instantly. Some say Jackosn wooed her in the most unlikely of ways. Some say that they had a blind date from their mutual friends and something just clicked. The most likely scenario was that, much like Jackson’s history, he wooed women with his unique charm. Truth be told the finer details are unknown, even to the public. What’s known is what people report on. Jackson Drake, a now-retired MMA fighter and co-owner of Asgard Fitness, and Violet Banks-Drake, CFO of Banks International (a banking conglomerate) together make one of the most well-known couples in the southeast due to their very public profiles. And together they had two beautiful children. Their eldest - a daughter, who was named after Viola’s aunt and sister, Andrea and given the middle name of Jacqueline, the female variant of Jackson’s name and also the name of Jackson’s maternal grandmother. In every sense of the word, she’s like her mother: elegant, has a powerful disposition, and above all else, goes after what she wants regardless of who it hurts. A few years after Drea’s birth, they had a son, who was named after Jackson right down to his middle name. Torvald, that name that has caused Jackson so much embarrassment happened to be the name that he came to love - well, Viola loves it. And he dare not fight his dearest. When it comes to Sonny, he grew up knowing that he was the son of a goofball and a powerful woman. Both, who at face value, never seemed to fit to what they were like back in their high school days. Both of these people who Sonny calls mom and dad were like ice and fire. Jackson is intense and passionate, but also has a temper and could consume all if it was left unchecked. And much like ice, his mother, while comforting in the heat, can also (at times) be emotionally distant and cruel, but at the end of the day, Sonny has always known his mother to be very loving; just that she has a way about her. The expectations, much like other children of celebrity couples, were high for Sonny, but as he soon found out, those expectations weren’t as high as he thought they were, though not like Sonny actually gave a damn. As a kid, he was the type who got into a lot of trouble and had a lot of pent-up energy and used it in all the wrong ways. So to rectify this and so that his son didn’t end up like he was a lad himself, Jackson set his son up in Karate classes. And the rest was history. He stuck with it from the age of five to, well the most recent year. He ended up securing a blue belt by the time he was fifteen and a brown one just recently, shortly after his 18th birthday. He would’ve been a black belt by now, but his sensei has noted that Sonny’s laziness and overall lack of a desire to commit to something entirely has prevented him from achieving this. Apparently, no matter how hard he tried, something about Sonny Drake never changed. Ah well, that’s just something he will have to live with. f a m i l y. Sonny Relations

Delicate Pains in my Ass

_{Marisol Castillo, the only person who really gets him}

Sonny’s relationship with Marisol and how it became what it is now can be reduced down to three key moments: their birth when they came into this world minutes apart on the same day and the years of friendship that followed, the timespan of three months where they slept together (resulting in Marisol losing her virginity) and the latter developing very real feelings for him, and the events of The annual Drake-Castillo/Jameson Christmas party that resulted in the formation of their first relationship past friendship.

All three of these instances proved to be vital in a lot of ways. The history behind their friendship, up until a point, was wholesome and true. Sonny has always been grateful for Marisol but when he made the mistake of doubting her feelings for him, in retrospect, he knew that was a terrible mistake. But it worked itself out in the end. It took both realizing the error in their ways (more Sonny than Mari) and being honest in every sense of the word.

Sonny thinks the world of her and has been trying to make strides in being a better person even if his actions sometimes betrayed his words.

<sub>"Oh, Marisol, you're one wrecked car away from being escorted by two heavily-armed men to the funny farm for a more permanent residence, but I would be lying if I said that the unhinged skater girl look wasn't pretty damn attractive on you. I mean, just look at you and me: we've gone through four separate occasions of driving each other crazy and that's only our senior year. Might as well as just give us the award for most fights among best friends, but just look at us now: we've finally moved past most of that bullshit. You're not wrecking cars or hitting me in the gonads as frequently as you used to and I'm not intentionally shoving my tongue down someone's throat just to get a reaction out of you. We've seen it all and, for better or for worse, we're both crazy for each other -- well, when we're not driving each other off a cliff.

_{Ariana Mossos, the one that let him go}

Their beginnings were as cliche as cliche gets. He and she were in the same history class and they got paired up for a project. Over the course of a couple of weeks, there was a gradual increase of attraction and at some point in time, something had to give, resulting in a secret relationship that lasted for a few months. And like all early-high school relationships, it ended due to Ariana thinking a fifteen-year-old Sonny Drake was too immature (which he was). He was a different guy back then so he didn’t take it that well. In fact, Sonny was heartbroken and grew to hold very bitter emotions for Ariana.

And this is where things got complicated. Their attraction continued from the back half of their sophomore year and well into their Junior year. A moment of weakness on his birthday later and they fell into each other’s clutches yet again. It was a one-time thing and Sonny has always felt as though they were better apart.

Despite a broken heart and a one night stand, Sonny never actually came to hate her. He’s grateful for what they had. He knows that without the trials she put him through he wouldn’t be who he is now. Sonny knows she let him walk away and now he’s happy with Marisol. In his honest opinion, Ariana made a big mistake but he’s not bitter about it anymore.

Misfits

It is I, the greatest ache in your asses.

I know I am quite the pain and have treated you unfairly and, at times, quite cruelly. Calling you names I thought were hilarious but were insensitive and making light of situations that probably shouldn't have been reduced to that. And for that, I am truly sorry. Nothing in this world can make up for it, but I like to think what we did to poor, not-at-all innocent Bradley was a start. I specifically hope that all of those times of giving you two, Kavan and Archer, the worst of my lame humor, can be let go. You two are among my favorite gays. I mean, technically you're the only gays I know, but truthfully, you two are swell.

And if anyone of Brad's friends tries and messes with you, I'll have Marisol re-introduce them to her famous wrecking ball of a bat. They're bound to remember what it did to Victoire's car.

Archer & Kavan ☼ Good friends and Protector — Sonny isn’t too proud to admit that he was terrible to both Archer and Kavan. He mistreated them, called them names he thought were hilarious, but in reflection, he was mean and didn’t treat them with the respect they deserved. When it came to Archer, Sonny was too brutal with all of the borderline-homophobic gay jokes and in Kavan’s case, not only did Sonny stereotype him as Egyptian, which he isn’t, he was unreasonably cruel to him by sticking to that the entire time. It wasn’t until Kavi’s Halloween Party where he rectified his friendship with both in one instance, though it was the last step for his own five-step program of being a better person.

It was because of his reflection and efforts to be a better person that gave Archer and Kavan a new perspective on Sonny and he in turn vowed to be their protector and defend them from those who would like to pick on them, such as Bradley Leone. Sonny happily kicked his ass with the other Misfits for his continued harassment of Archer. For Kavan, Sonny found himself being the number one supporter of his relationship and general supporter in general. Sonny has a lot of admiration and respect for both of them, especially Archer because he unashamedly puts himself out with his flamboyance for all to bear witness to. That takes guts — more guts than Sonny has, at least.

Ryland ☼ Ryebread aka Brother from another mother — There’s a lot of history Sonny, Ryland, and Marisol. The three represent the three families who were very close for a long time, dating back a couple of generations. The three were often inseparable and the same can truly be same about Sonny and Ryland. Though distance has killed so many opportunities for them to hang out, the bond never ceased and Sonny sees him almost like a brother. He never had the chance to experience what it was like having a brother. Kavi wasn’t really the type, so Rye was the closest thing he had to that brotherly bond. They crack jokes, take cracks at each other, but always, like their fathers, are so fucking money. Of course, they’re evolved enough to not be that lame ...most of the time.

Ariel ☼ Distant friends no more! — Sonny has always liked Ariel. To him, there was nothing bad about her, though he wouldn’t ever say that out loud to Marisol because she might do what she did to Vic’s car but to his bones. Truth be told, the only reason he and she became distant friends was because of Marisol. Sonny never blamed either, but he felt like that one friend who just gravitated towards one because the other was scarier. Over time, though -- especially after Kavi’s party -- things mellowed out between Marisol and Ariel. Their big fight was because of a great misunderstanding and miscommunication. So naturally, as Ariel was reintegrated into the Misfits and past sins were forgiven, Ariel’s previous acquaintanceship with Sonny was upgraded to good friends. They now hang out with each other as much as possible, especially since Kavi isn’t around.

Bottom line: Sonny missed Ariel and is glad all is well in Misfitland.

Good Friends

Oh, right I couldn't do that because neither one of you would let me. I know Julie would firmly tell me to cool it, Kavi might judo flip my ass to the floor if I pulled another stunt like when I corndogged his ass last year, and lord knows during our next workout sesh, Max won't go easy on me.

Stella & Kavi ☼ Childhood friends — The three of them practically grew up with each other. Though not as close to him as Marisol or most of the Misfits, Sonny has a very close attachment to both Kavi and Stella. It definitely originates from the fact that their families were all very close friends when growing up, particularly their fathers. All three men who are now much older with their own careers all grew up in Haven Crest, New York, which is also where Stella's mother grew up too. So there's a certain closeness and fondness the three have for each other. And despite them diverting into different paths and having their own friends and own interests, they have always maintained a close friendship that not even Marisol understands but, then again what is there to understand? Sonny loves these two like siblings and that'll never change.

Julie ☼ Unlikely friends — Sonny and Julie, on paper, seem like they shouldn’t be friends. They’ve never really interacted much and have very different friends, but at Santiago’s Pool Party, as they had a brief conversation, Sonny found out that he once shared a ballet class with Julie back when his mother forced him into it. This was the bridge that connected them. Since then, Sonny and Julie have become good friends. They still have a lot of different interests and they’re not the best of friends, but Sonny considers her a dear companion and enjoys her company. She’s one of the main reasons he and Marisol found their way back to each other and he’ll forever be grateful for that.

Max & Sawyer ☼ Workout Squad

Max
Sonny and Max have a few things in common, but the one thing that is a main thing that they always get together for is workout session at Asgard Fitness. It doesn’t matter what Sonny has going on, be it appointments, homework, detention, or whatever, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays are spent hammering it away at Asgard Fitness with his good friend, Max Wallenberg. Despite just about everything, Sonny and Max their fondness for fitness to not only keep them in tip-top shape but they have a brotherly bond, one that involves many jokes and many instances of teasing. Their personalities clash well and make for excellent spotters.

Sawyer
Sawyer and Sonny have a friendship similar to that of his with Max. like with Max, Sonny can be seen at Asgard Fitness working out. the two of them became friends due to his association with Max and as such probably hanging out after school or even during school when he wasn't with Marisol or the other Misfits. Despite the shared hobby of pumping iron and getting fit -- something Sonny has been working to be more consistent at especially with Wrestling season underway -- Sonny and Sawyer have very little in common, but there’s not much else needed, not when a love for fitness is a strong enough bond.

Jasper ☼ Fellow rebel brother — Sonny thinks Jasper is pretty cool despite being one of those guys who keeps to himself. For a while, he used to be around Sonny and the other Misfits, but now he’s barely around. Sonny doesn’t quite understand it or what happened, but he thinks Jasper is pretty cool in all honesty. His style is his own and he doesn’t let anyone change who he is, though he could benefit from a little more socializing. Someone really should introduce him to Stella.

Barely Know you

I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone Bea and Georgie, but don't take it personally. I can't befriend everyone who comes into contact with me. I'm not a saint. But hey, if you ever want to catch a movie or drink one of my father's beers when neither of my parents are home, just come over. I'm not as bad as some make me out to be."}

Chanel ☼ Barely knows her — Admittingly, one of the more popular girls at King’s and Sonny knows little to nothing about her aside from what is obvious. She’s a highly fashionable member of the head bitches in charge, The Unholy Trinity. Chanel is extremely attractive (Sonny isn’t an idiot), and that she has quite the rep of having a bit of a diva mindset. But all of that aside, he doesn’t really know her. They haven’t crossed paths enough to know each other. At most, Sonny just knows her.

April & Santiago ☼ Leaves them alone — Sonny used to hold both in the lowest of regards. He hated them for Santiago’s active part in making Stella sad and April being a bystander in it and even going back to the devil. Regardless, they are each other’s problem now. Sonny won’t make any effort in outwardly disliking them. Plus, from what Sonny hears, Santiago isn’t such a douchenozzle anymore. At least he’s got that much going for him.

Bea ☼ Weird girl, huh? — Beatrice Endive has always stood out to Sonny, if not because of how weird she has always struck him. He heard she is quite difficult to talk to, though sometimes she surprises you. Whether or not either of those rumors are true, Sonny just avoids her entirely. This isn’t because he dislikes her or anything. He gets enough weirdness from his best friends. But hey, if Bea wants to chat with him, he wouldn’t be too rude.

Guy ☼ Kissed once; it was hilarious — This is someone Sonny probably petrified at Kavi’s Halloween party and has since apologized to, but he certainly stood out ot Sonny as being someone who took the kiss in stride. That aside, he doesn’t know Guy that well. He’s a good kisser, though. So that’s something, right?

Carter ☼ Everyone’s got a need for weed — The best weed guy in the southeast, or at least at King’s. Sonny has never had a bad high, which says a lot because he’s tried some whack-ass weed. But Carter’s product? That’s some high quality kush. He doesn’t know where C-man gets it, but it’s good shit and if nothing else comes from their relationship, Sonny appreciates Carter’s DL approach and is always chill. Any party Sonny is hosting, Carter is on that list under “special guests”. Gotta have the goods nearby in case you need something.

Sable ☼ Sonshine doesn’t know Sunshine — Well, it’s true. Okay, so maybe not so much. Sonny knows of her and is acquainted with her somewhat. New girl for the most part, right? Someone who hung around Shawna or someone of that name? Sonny can’t recall off the top of his mind, but she seems okay. Nothing bad, but due to lack of interactions, he really doesn’t know if there’s anything good about her, either.

Georgie ☼ Who are you again? — Sonny really does need to socialize more, but the truth of the matter is he doesn’t really know Georgie. She’s pretty and she seems like a sweet girl, but they don’t really frequent the same crowds enough for Sonny to have a solid opinion on her. He just knows she exists.

Shawna ☼ Ariel's drinking buddy — Sonny wasn’t really around when shit went down between Ariel and Kavi (he had his own mess at the time), but since Ariel had been hanging around him and the other misfits again, occasionally, so would shawna. Or if she wasn’t, Ariel talked about Shawna and the demonic succubus Kellie. Whateve rit was, Sonny became aware of her existance and probably another level, hung around her a few times. And from those times alone, Sonny doesn’t mind her so much.

Mac ☼ Far from home, ain't ya? — Sonny knows Mac through Stella. They might share a friend, but even when Mac was at King’s before, they didn’t really talk. Sonny wasn’t involved in sports and even now that he is, there’s still little reason for him to know her. That being said, as with all cheerleaders, she’s cute in her own edgy way.

Nicole ☼ Cheerleader or something — Truth be told, Sonny has no feelings either way for Nicole. She is cute, as all cheerleaders are, but outside of existing in the same high school, there’s very little reason for him to go out of his way to talk to her. Let’s just say he likes it that way.

Jack ☼ Name thief, you’re all right — Sonny lowkey judges his parents for naming him a part of his own but otherwise, Jack is okay. There’s nothing inherently bad about him but their usual crowds rarely mix. Sonny’s wrestling and Jack is straight up Basketball/Football, so there’s rarely been a need for him to mix and match with this dude. Cool name, though.

When they had finally arrived in Seiki, Raiko found the moment to be a bittersweet one. In the ten years, he had stepped foot into his home village. He had thought about it, of course. For the first couple of years, he was with Ryoshi and the others, Raiko wanted more than anything to return home and be with the people he had known to be his family. The villagers were the closest thing that Raiko had to family. Even though Ryoshi was the closest thing he had to family, he felt as though it wasn’t what he needed - not at that age, at least. The elders and the villagers who had accepted him were the kind of people that Raiko wanted to be around.

And even now, as he stood next to Ren in Seiki, it wasn’t exactly how he pictured it. When he pictured his grand return after it was safe for him to do so, Raiko imagined he’d be greeted by the villagers and Elder Tanaka and there would be a grand feast with all of his favorites. There would be laughter, smiles, and a joyous energy as they all celebrated the return of Raiko. But...Raiko didn’t expect half of the village to be burned down with bodies of both critically-injured and those who have suffered mild injuries. It was practically a battlefield and Raiko felt guilty that he might’ve caused this for engaging with Ren and Kaito. He felt as though, somehow, he brought this terror to his home.

For a moment, Raiko felt paralyzed by his own regret. “If I had just stayed away, maybe this wouldn’t be happening,” he muttered to himself. Raiko quickly shook those thoughts away when Ren took off towards the forest. Raiko wasn’t far behind her.

As they ran through the forest, Raiko’s senses were overcome by the amount of demonic energy within the immediate area was so intense that it took him a moment or two to finally adjust to it. By the time he had, however, the duo of Ren and Raiko had arrived at the core of where the source of the strong demonic energy was. It was, quite fitting to the situation at hand, that in the middle of the forest, they were met by a strong demon. And what was even worse, the demon seemed poised to attack some human male and the Elder Tanaka. This demon had a flaming appearance. Everything from the skin on its body to the sword it held in its hand, all of it was lit aflame and it even had the temperature to match.

“Ren wait--”

Too late. Without warning, Ren charged forth with her staff in hand.

“Well, at least her courage hasn’t wavered,” Raiko noted aloud, standing next to the injured Elder Tanaka and the human male. Tanaka looked at Raiko warily, though he gave her a smile. “Nice to see you again, old lady.” He snickered, smiling.

“Again? Old Lady--wait. It couldn’t be…”

As much as Raiko would have loved to hear the rest of her thought, there were more pressing concerns. Specifically, Raiko and Ren had that demon with flames all over his body to deal with. Though, as Raiko noticed, Ren was already ahead of him on that front. She charged forward at the same time the demon did and their weapons clashed. Demonic and spiritual energy creating a shockwave of sorts; and though Raiko wanted to help, he saw Tanaka and how she wasn’t doing so well.

“You, human. Take the elder back to te village so she can get the aid she needs.”

“I can’t. I need to stay with Ren. She needs my help.”

“Ren will be fine. The Elder needs help right now!”

The man didn’t know what to do and Raiko knew this guy was afraid of both the demon and how Ren was here.

“Listen, Ren will be okay. I will be here to make sure this demon doesn’t hurt her. The elder needs help or she will die. Do you want that on your conscious?”

Raiko saw the man was stuttering to find the words.

“Goddamn it, man!” Raiko’s demonic energy flared up, though parts of it seeped into Tanaka, closing up the major wound. “That won’t last, but it’ll buy you some time. Now go!”

Without any further words coming from his mouth, the man sheathed his weapon, took Tanaka in his large arms, and ran back towards the village.

After Raiko had seen they were gone, he charged forward to the demon and Ren, both of whom were still locked in a struggle. Raiko unleashed a powerful wave of his demonic energy that flew over Ren’s short frame and hit the demon right in the head and allowed Ren the perfect opportunity to capitalize on it.

By now, the names of Jackson Torvald Drake and Violet Jessebelle Banks-Drake are household names in not only the states but worldwide. Viola, the socialite daughter of Hungarian Real Estate Mogul, Evangeline Keller-Banks and International Banker, Cameron Banks and Jackson Drake, the ever-famous “Lightning Dragon” of MMA, has been the most unlikely of couples but when you two powerhouse names together in this unlikely union, something just works. And the sparks clicked almost instantly. Some say Jackosn wooed her in the most unlikely of ways. Some say that they had a blind date from their mutual friends and something just clicked. The most likely scenario was that, much like Jackson’s history, he wooed women with his unique charm. Truth be told the finer details are unknown, even to the public. Jackson Drake, a now-retired MMA fighter and co-owner of Asgard Fitness, and Violet Banks-Drake, CFO of Banks International (a banking conglomerate) together make one of the most well-known couples in the southeast due to their very public profiles. And together they had two beautiful children. Their eldest - a daughter, who was named after Viola’s aunt and sister, Andrea and given the middle name of Jacqueline, the female variant of Jackson’s name and also the name of Jackson’s maternal grandmother. In every sense of the word, she’s like her mother: elegant, has a powerful disposition, and above all else, goes after what she wants regardless who it hurts. A few years after Drea’s birth, they had a son, who was named after Jackson right down to his middle name. Torvald, that name that has caused Jackson so much embarrassment happened to be the name that he came to love - well, Viola loves it. And he dare not fight his dearest.

When it comes to Sonny, he grew up knowing that he was the son of a goofball and a powerful woman. Both, who at face value, never seemed to fit to what they were like back in their high school days. Both of these people who Sonny calls mom and dad were like ice and fire. Jackson is intense and passionate, but also has a temper and could consume all if it was left unchecked. And much like ice, his mother, while comforting in the heat, can also (at times) be emotionally distant and cruel, but at the end of the day, Sonny has always known his mother to be very loving; just that she has a way about her.

The expectations, much like other children of celebrity couples, were high for Sonny, but as he soon found out, those expectations weren’t as high as he thought they were, though not like Sonny actually gave a damn. As a kid, he was the type who got into a lot of trouble and had a lot of pent-up energy and used it in all the wrong ways. So to rectify this and so that his son didn’t end up like he was as a lad himself, Jackson set his son up in Karate classes. And the rest was history. He stuck with it from the age of five to, well the most recent year. He ended up securing a blue belt by the time he was fifteen and a brown one just recently, shortly after his 18th birthday. He would’ve been a black belt by now, but his sensei has noted that Sonny’s laziness and overall lack of a desire to commit to something entirely has prevented him from achieving this.

Appearently, no matter hard he tried, somethings about Sonny Drake never changed. Ah well, that’s just something he will have to live with.

For the amount of time it had taken Ryoshi to speed past Raiko and embrace the human girl, Kaito, it had taken just as much time for the loving, if not uncomfortable (for Raiko), moment to dissolve and devolve into a dire situation. It was only due to the Priestess, Ren, suddenly pointing her staff at Ryoshi, declaring something that hit Raiko like a ton of bricks coming down from the sky and hitting their mark. Everything she said from the village she was from to how Ryoshi had taken her best friend from her. At first, Raiko was confused. What did she mean? Was there some other person she knew that was from Seiki who Ryoshi and the others might’ve taken without Raiko’s knowledge?

And then she said it. Well, not it. She said his name. He never gave her his name. The only time it was ever uttered was when Aoi said it out of habit. So how did she know it and why did it seem like she knew him? Better yet, why was Raiko overcome with such strong emotions about her and about her actions towards Ryoshi and the others?

“I don’t--”

Raiko’s head started to pound and pound, his vision pulsating, flashing between the present and the past. As each flash got increasingly quicker, the vividness of the same image as before: the sight of a cherry blossom tree in the center of some village and the sight of what was once a blurry, young girl, sitting high up on a branch; except this time around, she wasn’t blurry. As clear as the cherry blossoms around her were, Raiko saw her. She was, at that age, pretty and regal. Her dark hair tied up in a traditional bun and her smile pure and innocent. And as he looked up, the lips the smile was created from said a single word. And at that same moment, Raiko heard the same word being uttered as if he his consciousness was in both past and present.

”Raiko!”

This one word changed everything for Raiko. He gripped his head so tight that he let out a screeching yell, his demonic energy bursting around him. The bright, deep red aura from before had returned, but this time it was organized and precise. It fed off of Raiko’s emotions, which were now focused on Ryoshi, taking the demon by surprise as a burst of energy took the shape of a dragon claw, forcing Ryoshi back about three feet, effectively removing his grip upon Ren’s neck.

"Master!" Kage and Aoi said in unison, rushing to his side, though the surprised looks on their faces were more about who did it.

“Raiko..why?”

When their eyes met Raiko’s, he had Ren in his arms, resting her staff in her own arms. “Because I finally remembered who this woman is. I just hate that it took so long,” Raiko said to Ren, looking into her eyes. “I am sorry, Ren. I couldn’t go to the village because I was protecting you from them, but that is no longer necessary.”

Raiko had directed his full attention on Ryoshi and the others. From what he saw, he knew they were still in a state of shock, though Ryoshi seemed more amused than anything else. “Here I was beginning to wonder when you’d finally grow that pair you were so full of when we took you from that village.” Ryoshi stood up, dusting himself off, looking over to Kaito. “They needn’t worry from me, my darling. As far as I am concerned, they do not matter to me anymore."

“They aren’t?” Aoi looked surprised as he glanced towards Ryoshi’s way.

“Did I stutter?”

“N-no, master. But what about the priestess and how she was going to banish you?”

Ryoshi knew that Aoi had more than those words for him, but when the demon looked at Aoi, the blue-scaled demon saw the look of fear in Ryoshi’s eyes. The amount of pressure exerted from him was enough to make even the strongest demons submit to his will.

“i-I’m sorry for questioning you, Master.”

Ryoshi decided to ignore Aoi and Kage, choosing to only focus on the smoke from the distance. “You better hurry or you might not be able to save that village of yours.”

Confused, Raiko was wondering what he meant. Only when he turned around and saw what Ryoshi was looking at did Raiko see what he meant. The smoke in the distance and sight of flying demons from the Desert Wastelands opposite of where Serpent Mountain was were hovering over Seiki. What was even worse, fires raged throughout the village.

“What’s happening over there?”

“What indeed. You better go, Raiko. And remember. This is where our partnership ends. Come this way again and you will have no mercy.”

Though he was livid at Ryoshi, Raiko had more pressing concerns than just what Ryoshi just said. He had to leave with Ren, though he would stop himself for a minute. “Kaito, you better stay here. I imagine Ryoshi won’t hurt you,” Raiko at Ryoshi, “right?”

“My beloved is safe with me. And as soon as she wishes it, we will send her home with Aoi here. Now, go, Raiko! Go save your village.”

There was a sense of acceptance and even some respect between the two. Raiko knew he would have to return to the mountain at some point. He didn’t know when or if it would be wise of him to do so, but something Raiko knew was that, if he did return, it would be a fight nobody would ever forget.

And so he left. With Ren in his arms, they went down the mountain.

Meanwhile, when they left and Kaito was sent with Kage to get her fed, Aoi stood next to Ryoshi. They watched Raiko travel down the mountain like proud fathers of their son. “Hard to believe he’s all grown up.”

“That he is.”

“Are you sure it was not to tell him who is really behind all of this?” Aoi asked Ryoshi.

“He wasn’t ready to know the truth, Aoi. I’m sure he’ll figure it out sooner or later.” Ryoshi was confident of this.

Aoi wasn't so sure about that. “How do you know?”

“When he finds out the truth about his father, he’ll have questions that only we can answer. After all, that’s the least I can do for my younger brother.”

There was a moment before they had set off from the grasslands to the mountain that Raiko was worried. Though Aoi and Kage were typically laidback and often acceptive of his usually-lax demeanor and the actions that always followed from it. His biggest worry was when he saw that priestess’ staff start to react when Aoi and Kage approached them. While he had no personal attachment to the girls and would likely not cry over the spilled milk, he didn’t want to see any blood being shed when the situation got a little tense. Thankfully for Raiko’s quick thinking, it was resolved before the problem got worse. The mention of Ryoshi and Kaito was what saved this from turning ugly.

Oh if only that’s where it stopped. Before anything could be done to prevent the next course of action, specifically on Aoi and Kage's part, the two respectively had rendered the trust that Raiko thought he had with these two to nothing but mush. Revealing his name wasn’t the thing that did it, though the one called Ren seemed to be taken by surprise by it. No, what really did it was Kage snatching the staff from her hands and then, of all things, Aoi speaking about eating her.

Raiko hid his actual worry about just how serious they were about that when he looked to the two women. “Don’t worry, it’s just a figure of speech.” Raiko was lying of course. He knew that, while Aoi and Kage liked him and gave him free reign on most things, they never feigned the joy they had out of eating humans. Still, Raiko wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to these two. He wasn't one that offered to bring them to Ryoshi, so they were his responsibility.

The half-demon looked over to Ren’s direction, seeing frozen where she stood. For whatever reason, she wasn’t able to register anything that Raiko had said to her. Whether he repeated her name or waved his hands in front of her, she was lost in her own world. “Ah well, there’s no time for this.”

Letting out a sigh, Raiko scooped her up, supporting her neck and legs with his arms. He was easily able to lift her up and run while she was still in her arms. Whether or not she snapped back into it wouldn’t matter because the distance that Raiko’s own speed allowed him to cover had them arrive at the base of the mountain within a minute. It didn’t take much longer than another twenty seconds for Raiko to catch up to Kage and Aoi as they reached the top of the mountain where the Shadow Serpents all resided. And though the return of Raiko and Ryoshi’s top demons was a welcomed sight, Raiko saw nearly instantly the vile snickering the others had when they caught the scent of humans.

Raiko glared at all of them, his eyes glaring red. “If you want them, you’ll have to go through me.” He declared, firmly putting them on notice.

That seemed to set them straight. Raiko could hear Aoi and Kage laughing, though they didn’t comment. Instead, the group traversed a few minutes away from the common area of the mountaintop to where Ryoshi was always at. Unlike before, however, Raiko noticed that Ryoshi wasn’t drunk. On top of that, he didn’t appear to be happy, specifically with Raiko.

“So what’s this I hear about you interacting with the humans, Raiko?”

“Now before you lose your shit, maybe just hear me out.”

“I gave you one rule. You are to not interact with them. Did I not make this clear when we took you in?”

“Now hold on just a--”

“And here I thought you had it in you. I thought you would be loyal to those who looked after you.”

“WILL YOU JUST LISTEN TO ME, YOU ASSHOLE!” At that moment, a massive pulse of demonic energy came from Raiko’s body, flaring up a deep red color, the shape of a dragonic-like spirit hovering three feet above him.

“Is this really how you want to play it, Raiko?” Ryoshi stood up, the demon revealing its form to be a humanoid demon of humanoid size. He had pale white skin with a scaly skin, though it wasn’t nearly as bad as Aoi. His was subtle. He had white hair and wore a dragon skin pelt over his head.

As soon as Ryoshi took a step forward, his own demonic aura flaring up, easily outweighing Raiko’s. The sudden move by Ryoshi had caused Raiko to stand his ground, but inside he wasn't prepared to fight Ryoshi right here and now. It had seemed that Aoi and Kage were thinking the same as they would prepare to back up, their feet sliding backwards against the dirt. It did seem as though the two were about to fight, but Ryoshi’s aura disappeared as soon as he saw Kaito next to Aoi. “My Kaito! You’ve come to me!”

“Well if you would have listened to me, I would’ve told you we brought her to you,” Raiko commented, scoffing.

Ryoshi had completely ignored Raiko and ran past him, picking up Kaito in a loving embrace.

Meanwhile, Raiko looked over at the priestess. She didn’t seem to be out of her daze. “You okay over there?” Raiko asked her, snapping his fingers in front of he rface, hoping to get her attention.
