My issue with GMing is once the novelty of the new idea wears off, I have no idea what to do next, and everyone is looking at me to progress the narrative.

I still haven’t watched TLOK. It’s on my long list of shows and movies to binge.

Bio

Gay, he/him, Autistic

I’m Crimson Flame and I’m addicted to RPing. But sometimes ADHD kicks in, and it takes me longer to reply to things than it should. If I’m taking too long to respond, feel free to say something. Just don’t be rude about it.

There are a bunch of RPs I like. Pokémon, Digimon, Fantasy, Superhero, it would take too long to list them all. I’m not a fan of Horror or Apocalypse settings though.

I have a particular type of character I like making. Look through my Character Sheet thread, and see if you notice what a lot of my characters have in common.

Archetype: Mutant #2
Name: Alison Blaire
Alias: Dazzler
Age: 32
Powers/Skills:
  • Converts sound into light (blinding flashes, lasers, hard-light constructs, strobe disorientation, concussive bursts, etc.)
  • Skilled singer, dancer, and performer.
  • Media Trained: Knows how to work an audience, camera, or press conference
  • Trained in hand-to-hand combat during her time with the X-Men
  • Surprisingly good with a mic stand as a weapon

Weaknesses:
  • Sound Dependency: No ambient noise = no power. In silent or soundproof environments, she’s vulnerable.
  • Energy Burnout: Excessive use of powers can drain her. She gets migraines if she pushes her powers too much too fast.
  • Physically human durability. Not super-tough outside her powers.
  • Mutant Controversy: Public exposure has made her a target of both mutant hate groups and tabloid exploitation.

Equipment:
  • Customized Mic Earpiece: Feeds loops or ambient audio directly to her to charge powers.
  • Motorbike: A sleek, slightly beat up electric cycle that glows.
  • Optional Backup: Carries a mic stand modified for combat, collapsible for portability

Personality: Bold, Cynical, Loyal, Glamorous, Charismatic
Appearance:
BRIEF Bio: Alison Blaire was once one of the hottest names in Pop Music. At the height of her fame, she was selling out venues, and topping charts. In between gigs, she was also an X-Man. She tried very hard to balance stardom, with heroism. It wasn’t easy, but for a while, she made it work. Then Alison made a choice. She chose to come out as a mutant, hoping her fame could promote tolerance and acceptance. Instead, it backfired spectacularly. Her record label dropped her, sponsors vanished, and headlines turned cruel. She went from being a celebrated Pop Star, to “controversial” celebrity overnight. She tried going underground, releasing indie albums, and scraping by with low-profile gigs, while still fighting for mutant rights. However, she could never regain the fame she once had.

Now in her thirties, Alison is broke, burned out, and struggling to stay relevant in a world that seems more hostile to mutants than ever. She was ready to give up. That is, untill Warren Worthington offered her a spot on his new Champions Team. She needed the money, but more than that, this was a real shot at redemption. Maybe she’ll never be the superstar she once was… but this? This could be the second act she’s been waiting for.
Storylines:
  • She becomes the public face of the team, whether she likes it or not.
  • A former producer uses her past against her to ruin her reputation, framing her for mutant aggression.
  • Dazzler puts on a benefit concert in Darkwater to improve mutant-human relations… and it becomes the battleground for a villain attack.

Notes: She’s very done with being underestimated.

Julian Mercer aka Spotlight, burst into the lobby with phone in hand, livestreaming for his fans. “Gooood morning Spotlighters! Guess who’s officially joining the League of Good today?” He pans the phone briefly to show the sleek, high-tech lobby with sunlight through the windows, plush couches, and League emblems on the walls. “Look at this place! It’s giving ‘government funding but make it fabulous.’”

Julian took a complimentary latte, sat on the couch, still streaming. “It’s a big day today. I haven’t met the rest of the team yet. But here’s hoping theres someone I can bond with. Even better if that someone is a hot guy, besides me of course.” He winked to the camera.

Just then, the receptionist began rushing over. Urgency written all over her face. Julian blinked. “Oh. Hold up. Either I’m in trouble, or drama is about to unfold.”

He turned the phone back to his face, lowering his sunglasses dramatically.

“Spotlighters… stay tuned. I think something’s about to happen.” Then he stopped the livestream.

Julian blinked at what the receptionist said. His latte halfway to his mouth. “I’m sorry…‘incident’? As in emergency? As in… unscheduled danger?”

Before he had time to react to anything the receptionist was saying, he was teleported away to somewhere completely different to the chic lobby he was just in.

Julian landed with a clumsy stumble. His hair ruffled in the sudden gust of heat from the dragon’s wings as it roared overhead. “Okay. So this is happening. No warm up. No safety briefing. Just…rawr?” He shrugged his shoulders.

And then there was the guy. The one with the beret. The phone. The whole indie film director look. Julian was glad this was being recorded at least.

With a flick of his wrist, a hard light shield formed in front of him. He turned to the rest of the team. “Hi! I’m Spotlight! You may recognize me from five seconds ago when I was livestreaming. Let’s not die, hm?”

He raised his hand again, and a hard light spear formed in the air. “Hey, scales-for-brains!” He called. “Wanna be internet famous? Smile for the camera!” He winked at the dragon. Then he threw.

I’m also considering joining.

I might take the Mutant # 2 spot and be Dazzler.
Start it!

@Remram @Joshua Tamashii @Shazamrock@Crusader Lord@Goggy

Valerian’s looked at Frankie then the girl lying on the ground, one brow slightly raised. The boy’s defense of his stick method earned a light scoff. “So your instinct when seeing someone unconscious is ‘grab the nearest branch?’”

As the girl groaned and stirred, Valerian clasped his hands behind his back and tilted his head.

“Well. She lives,” he observed. “Points for that, I suppose.”

And then… chaos unfolded.

Phantump screamed. Clarissa lurched forward. Vivian flailed. The Wooper fell. Clarissa fell. Pokémon burst from Poké Balls like party poppers, and suddenly the scene was a blur of limbs, dust, and confused shouting.

Valerian didn’t rush forward, but his gaze lingered on Clarissa as her Pokémon scrambled to help. She had an Igglybuff! Yay! And a Trubbish… A lot less yay… “Clarissa, are you alright?” He asked quietly.

And then Vivian launched into a full archaeological monologue with all the energy of a caffeine-fueled professor.

Valerian exhaled slowly. “I enjoy your enthusiasm… But perhaps you should take a breath? Anyway… I am Prince Valerian Hardrada.” He announced, with a flourish of his hand. “Valerian will suffice. No, I don’t expect you to bow or faint or curtsey or gasp or whisper or take selfies. I only mention it because I prefer honesty to pretense, and I’d rather you hear it from me than your Rotom Phone five minutes later. I’ve been told that’s not how I’m supposed to introduce myself…” He said glancing at Amelia. “But I should not have to hide a major aspect of myself just to make others comfortable. I am a prince. And I want to be treated normally anyway.” With a quiet breath, Valerian dusted his pink blazer, and stood a little straighter. “Let’s continue before something else in this wild, beautiful disaster of a route decides to make itself known.”

Mhm idk If Maggie would know any of your character.

It’s ok. She’ll know them eventually.
If anyone wants some sort of pre-established relationship with Julian/Spotlight, hit me up.

Even if your character doesn’t know him personally, he’s semi-famous so people are bound to have opinions.
Just waiting…

Name: Julian Mercer
Alias: Spotlight
Age: 26
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Family: Mother: Vanessa St. Clair – daytime TV host, lifestyle influencer
Father: Darius Mercer – Lighting technician for TV and film productions

Appearance: Julian is strikingly handsome in a boy-next-door-meets-Hollywood-heartthrob kind of way. He stands at an even 6’0”, with a lean, athletic build honed more for aesthetics and agility than brute strength. His golden blond hair falls in lightly tousled waves, always somehow perfectly messy. His eyes are bright, ocean-blue, framed by long lashes and a dazzling smile that could probably get him out of a parking ticket. He keeps his skin glowing, sometimes literally, thanks to a meticulous skincare routine and his powers.

When not in costume, Julian leans into a soft luxury, with stylish trenchcoats, fitted tees, fitted jeans, trendy sneakers, and layered gold jewelry. You’ll usually catch him wearing light-reflective sunglasses, a perfectly curated outfit, and carrying his phone like it’s another limb (he is constantly updating his socials, after all).

His hero costume is sleek and futuristic: a white body suit with metallic gold panels. There are glowing accents that pulse with light as he uses his powers. His chest emblem is a stylized sunburst. He also wears a white cape for the drama.

Superpower: Photokinesis: Julian can generate, control, and shape light energy. He can emit brilliant bursts of light, create solid light constructs (like shields or platforms), form dazzling illusions by bending light, or blind foes with solar flare-like flashes. He can also glow softly or radiantly, controlling his brightness at will.

His powers burn stamina; overuse can leave him exhausted or faint. He has no power in total darkness or areas that absorb light

Skills: Media Training: Naturally photogenic and skilled at public speaking, interviews, and brand management.

Dancer’s Grace: Trained in basic choreography, allowing for stylish combat flourishes and stunning landings.

Social Media Expertise: Keeps his fanbase engaged and can spin PR disasters with a well-timed post.

Makeup & Style: Being hot is a skill, and Julian always looks good. He can do stage makeup in under five minutes, and he will make you try a filter.

Equipment: Spotlight Drone: A floating camera drone that captures his good side and streams it live.

A communicator: Standard protocol to communicate with team members.

Personality: He’s charming, expressive, and unapologetically extra. He leans into the glamorous side of hero work with genuine enthusiasm. He believes that heroism and theatricality can go hand in hand. After all, a well-timed dramatic pose can inspire the world. He flirts like it’s breathing, hypes his teammates constantly, and somehow makes even disasters sound like PR wins.

He can be a little vain, and maybe a touch addicted to the praise… but it’s part of the package. Behind the bravado, he’s sincere, vulnerable, and deeply driven to make people feel safe and inspired. Whether he’s hyping up his teammates or comforting a scared civilian, Julian brings warmth wherever he goes. He also hides a vulnerable side. The fear that without all the sparkle, he’s nothing special. That fear drives him harder than he’d like to admit.

Biography: Julian’s powers first emerged when he was 8 years old. He started glowing while sobbing during a sad scene in a movie he was watching. What others saw as a strange mutation, Julian’s mother saw as a brand opportunity. Vanessa St. Clair, a popular talk show host and media personality, immediately leaned into the photogenic glow. Her son wasn’t just gifted, he was marketable.

From then on, Julian’s life was scheduled around press opportunities, curated appearances, and perfectly framed social media moments. Vanessa documented everything. First glow, first controlled burst, first viral moment. She wasn’t malicious, just so consumed by the dream of fame that she couldn’t see her son as anything else. Julian’s father, Darius, quietly disapproved, but years in the entertainment industry had taught him that objections often went unheard. Vanessa didn’t listen. Her son was going to be a star, whether he liked it or not.

Julian tried to make the best of it. He liked the attention, the applause, the way people lit up when they saw him. But part of him always wondered if they’d still love him when he wasn’t shining.

In college, Julian took back some control. With no official costume and no team, he began doing small acts of heroism. Including rescuing people from fires, defusing fights, helping in disaster zones, and uploading short clips online. His kindness, stage presence, and thirst-trap charm quickly won over the public. One especially dramatic rooftop rescue went viral, and the nickname “Spotlight” was born.

He embraced it.

Now, joining the Lafayette City branch of the League of Good feels like the perfect next step. Julian hopes to prove he’s more than a pretty face or a viral moment. He wants to show the world that doing good can still look good
