I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

I noticed the term SCS, which stands for "supplementary combat system." I guess they are trying to turn the CYOA into some sort of tabletop roleplaying game, complete with stats and the like. I do not think this RP will benefit from it, but being that all of these supplementary guides are built off the SCS add-on, it might be fun to look at this. There's even a GM guide!

But yea, I kinda like the RP being free form and the like.

Posted, figured I'd give everyone a chance to mingle a bit and prepare for the night of carnage.
Bliss was too nervous and tired to really react to what Davis was saying. She found Davis's further attempts to try and drive a wedge between Krista, Cyrus, and everyone else a little strange. But stranger still that Cyrus would try to talk to him through the monitor. But everyone was probably just as exhausted as she was. Well, not just as exhausted. Bliss was four hours over due for her nap, and had to attend a trial on top of that.

“Oh my god, it's the Baldwin!” Jezebel tore out of the elevator like her life depended on it. She was dressed like a cross between a court jester and a clown. “Cyrus, I bet you're totally the fan favorite aren't you?” Her grin widened a bit. “Anyway, I just wanted you to know that the bear is so wrong about me! Like I'm totally more than some costumed clown for a kid's party! But given what the bear was saying... He was probably wrong about all of us.” Jezebel turned to look at Zach. “I mean you're totally more of a Baldwin than a Betty.” She giggled. “Anywho, this is the first time I've switched killing games, what's up?”

Jezebel didn't really have anything to add that the infinites in this killing game didn't already know. Though someone killed a carnage sister outside of the night of carnage, and that infinite was subsequently “glomped” by a Dr. killgood robot, which blew up with the infinite.

“So yea. If you see that slimy bear...”

“Did someone call me?” Monokuma popped out of the floor.

“Oh my god, is the night of carnage on already!?”
Monokuma looked at his watch. “Nope! You're excited for it huh?”

The trickster folded her arms. “As if!”

“Well I know Krista's going to be excited, or at least she should be.” Monokuma folded his paws behind his back. “You know I think anything truly worth having is worth struggling and suffering for, and even then you probably won't get it.” The bear turned to face the violinist. “A red phone booth is going to appear between the fountain and the monostand in the resort. Though it will only appear for one hour every day.”

“The night of carnage.” The words flowed out of Bliss's mouth on a sigh.

“You're a sharp nanny! I don't care what Marianne says about you!” Monokuma produced a bunch of E-handbooks from his fur. “Oh, and here's some E-handbooks for everyone without. I've unlocked the second story patient's quarters, so everyone should have rooms now. You don't have to share, even though I know some of you enjoy doing that. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!” After the bear distributed everything, he put on a smug little grin.”But if you want me to unlock the rest of the second floor, you're going to need to go on a little bounty for me. Alexandria has been spending way too much time with that Calvin boy. So I want you... To destroy her carnage chassis.”

Bliss pressed her hands together. “Is that even possible?”

“She's just a minotaur with the lower torso of an ox. I mean if Theseus could kill the minotaur with his bare hands I'm sure you guys could.” Dr. Killgood shrugged. “I forget how he did it. I'll have to go to the study later and read up.” The bear waved. “Well, good night everyone!” Monokuma disappeared into the floor.

“Well that so wasn't like the last killing game I was in.” Jezebel shook her head. “He just kind of put on a Richard Simmons wig and had us do workouts and stuff.” She looked at everyone else. “But it was totally worth it!”

It was too late to really think much about this. Everyone went to their rooms post haste.

CHAPTER 2: 555

Hello everyone, Dr. Killgood here with some more monokuma theatere!

So we have a new person among us. But don't expect me to do anything about it. I hate new people. You need to change their diapers, you need to feed them, you need to help them get dressed, and they make annoying noises. But do you know what's worse? Old people! You need to change their diapers, you need to feed them, you need to help them get dressed, and they make annoying noises.

At least both of these are just a passing phase.

But about the cub, make sure to monitor them. If they cry, warm them up some milk, rub their gums, or just put them in another room. You can inquire with Bliss for more information.

Bliss was in the break room, eating a breakfast sandwich. She was still tired, but suspected she would be fully ajusted to her normal operating hours with a few naps at the right time. Or maybe she felt this exausted because once again, escape had tempted someone into killing. Or was it that Davis was the mastermind this entire time? All of this definetly made the ifinite nanny feel a little betrayed. Bliss had no idea how Caora and Shaun were going to fair. The nanny knew she couldn't help them like this. She needed to get her emotions in order.

Meanwhile, Jezebel had set up an “affection” stand at a nearby table. She had found found a pencle in the study and drew up a sign. It read “Affection: Give a hug, get a hug, just don't smudge the makeup!” Well, it was nice to see that not everyone was in the dumps. Even the idea of an affection stand was enough to make Bliss smile a little bit. Mondatta might have been the greatest source of hope this group had, but now it was up to everyone to pick up the slack. He won't have died for nothing if everyone remebers what he taught them.

But what to do now? Bliss was almost done eating. Monokuma said something about the study, and Bliss was inclined to go back. There were things she was curious about, like the minotaur, and the voice from within the safe.
Arenasnow doesn't like the fucking blizzard patches. Because the arena is for fighting, and the snow should be making war, not love.
Admittedly, I don't write a lot of characters that don't speak my dialect. The trick is to do it in a way that is both convincing, interesting, and easy to read. There was a Scottish character in an RP that was played by an actual Scottish person. He wrote a paragraph or two entirely in scots, and was proud of the fact that nobody in the RP could read it, and google translate couldn't properly decipher it (but it did get you close). What's the point?

The truth is that most people who don't have English as their primary language may pronounce words a bit differently, but the sentence structure more or less stays the same. It's hard to make those odd sounds come out in text without misspelling the word, which I don't recommend. That's why I choose to substitute certain words or phrases with words of the character's primary language. A french man who's confronted with a perilous situation might say "Oh mon due!" (oh my god) or "Sacare bleu!" (sacred blue!) Both are common french "cuss words," and can add a little flavor to your character's dialog. The french also have a system where their nouns are denoted with a sex. Le for masculine nouns, la for feminine nouns, and les for plural nouns. So someone could say "You hit le hand!" and become decidedly french while doing it. Do make sure you're using the correct prefix if you decide to go this route. Lastly, you can observe the things that people with different primary languages struggle with. The french don't actually say "turn on" in their own language, but "open." My Canadian-French friend will occasionally ask you to "open the lights" when she walks into a dark room.
Amber continued to listen in on the Pit stop conversation, but she couldn't really make out much. The pirate girl just hoped Sue didn't do anything weird like try to flirt with Mariette. Or even worse, one of her underlings. Especially that mouthy, big breasted one. But Sue was a smart girl. No matter how cute their disguises looked, their true form would always be that of disgusting, gelatinous harpies. The pirate chuckled to herself. She almost felt bad for them, but they had it coming.

“Sea scare.” A voice boomed in Amber's head. “How doth thee fair?”

Boteg was able to communicate directly inside Amber's head via mental link. He wasn't able to see her, just talk to her. Though if Amber were feeling strong emotions while she “talked” to him, he would be able to pick up on them. The pirate did her best to ignore the fact that her familiar was enjoying a meal while she was standing in their leftovers. “Just keeping up patrols.” Amber had yet to tell the paranoid dragon about the impending war. It just didn't seem like a good idea. He would likely try to leave Penrose, which would conflict with Veronica's interests. The Ebon Vampire wanted Amber in this city for some reason, so keeping Boteg in Penrose was important. “Why, what's up?” It was actually rare for Boteg to contact Amber out of the blue like this.

“Are thou interested mayhaps in why me had thou take this most perilous journey?”

“Oh uh...” Amber wasn't expecting a chat like this. Boteg must have been very pleased for some reason. “Well yea, we've been travailing a while. I do think there were closer cities then Penorse that were just as fitting for your uh, majesty?”

“But thou art not in penrose for most splendid majesty, sea scare. Me thinks the terrifying one's scare is close.” The terifying one was a mysterious entity that Amber couldn't really understand. Mostly because Boteg couldn't properly describe it. But a scare was a universal term for a magical girl.

“Wait.” Amber couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. “We're here to confront the terrifying one's scare? Why? You've spent so much time running away from anything that reminds you of the terrifying one?!”

“Me thinks the terrifying one will back away when I bare my fangs. But thou now knows why me is in penrose.”

Regardless of what Sue did tonight, it wouldn't be as stupid as what Boteg had been plotting since her employment.

One of the drawbacks of not having a patron was that you didn't really know where everyone's turf was. In hindsight, eating their food in a quiet park setting probably would have been a better option. But who knew?

Regina didn't show it, but she was surprised that this was how beacon conducted their business. Throwing around thinly veiled threats was something Regina would have expected the “bad guys” to do. The succubus would have liked to have spoken with a beacon girl, but Alicia was making it plainly evident that words were off the table. Leave in a hurry or stand and fight were her presented options. Regina found such ultimatums... disgusting. This one would need to be taught a lesson.

Fortunately, both Beacon girls had revealed themselves, and Regina instantly recognized them. This saved her the trouble of having to dig through their minds to see what they were capable of. Not that Regina knew their full capabilities from their fight a week ago. But knowing their specializations and preferred fighting positions was an advantage the opponent didn't have. If they knew what Regina was capable of, they probably would have realized she was secretly relaying information to Elroy. But they probably saw her holding his hand as just a nervous tick. Elroy would soon know the plan Regina was cooking, and their opponents would be none the wiser. To anyone else, it would just look like the two kids were standing in shock for a few seconds.

“My mistake.” Regina let go of Elroy's hand. She looked just as scared and cautious as ever. “I had no idea Beacon was so close to here.” she walked backwards into the street. “I don't really want to be so close to a group of monster killers anyway. I'm sorry.” Regina turned around and ran across the street, disappearing between two buildings along with their dinner.

But Elroy stayed put. He repeated part of what Alicia said back to her.

"Regardless of what everyone might think these days, Beacon does not approve of monster girls setting up next to its territory." Elroy started to walk towards her. “But it's okay to recruit them? I had no idea Beacon was so progressive!” The grinning incubus pulled off his glasses and tucked them into his shirt pocket. “But yea, I'm glad you don't have a problem with monster men.” Elroy did not transform. There was no reason to. In the blink of an eye he could revert to his monster form. He did walk with one hand pressed against the arch of his back however. This was so that he could respond to a surprise attack by transforming and taking the shield off his back.

Meanwhile, Regina took cover behind a dumpster. In a puff of black smoke, she had reverted into her true form. Her horns poked out of her head, her hair style reformed itself, and her clothes changed under the veil of smoke. There was also a small tattoo under her left eye. Regina had no intention of leaving Elroy here alone. She allowed her body to sink into the shadow on the ally's wall and resurfaced just high enough to be able to grab the ledge of the roof. She was cloaking herself at this point, entirely invisible to the human eye. She pulled herself up and swiftly ran over to the edge of the roof. It was time to see what beacon could do.

@Shifter_Master@Flamelord
Sweetness. Oh, and most garages of this nature are made out of a non-flamable materiel due to safety concerns, so I'm going to say the building itself is something like this pole barn. That makes the most sense for the bates anyway, to choose a place like that to hide out. Unless it was specified earlier that it was made out of brick, but I didn't see such a description.

I'll likely post tomorrow. I might skip writing for Sue depending on who has posted.

@Flamelord@Shifter_Master

Alright, I have a few questions. Firstly, is this an okay layout for how the garage scene looks? It's not quite drawn to scale, but this isn't arena, I just don't want too many inconsistencies if I can help it. I imagine the windows are smaller, and the red block is suppose to be a garage door. So it's probably wider, as is the road leading into it. there's probably also a smaller door for people to enter. But is this everyone's positions, more or less?

There are also buildings around the garage, and probably some on the other side of the street behind the bates. I imagine the garage itself is just big enough to hold maybe one or two cars, and the walls are covered with tools and parts, or at least whatever hasn't been stolen yet. If you envisioned the inside being a little different, just tell me.

Also, are Penny and Alicia transformed?
That's true... And I meant the power "Duplication."

There are too many damn things in this CYOA... I love it!

And the beefy 8 year old sounds like an interesting character. Even more luck that the Djinn twins holy cow.
@Hammerman I'll see if I can convince them fam <3

@DarkwolfX37 how specific is up to the GM's discretion, but it states in the CYOA that oddball powers have less utility than normal specializations.

If by "duplicates" you mean the twin soul, no. The twin soul roll their own uniform, weapon, and power. everything else is the same, but you can chose to make them a boy or girl.
