  • Name: Sakuraba Yasu
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Standing at 5'9" with a slender build, Yasu appears as a bit boyish. Even though she has naturally slate eyes, she chooses to dye her hair a similar grey.
  • Personality: Yasu is a bit of a subdued person. She doesn't have much of a drive to do anything. This includes getting a high rank. At times, she is more interested in the crappy manga that she reads than battles. This has lead to her constantly sandbagging most fights. Even though she's subdued, she's pretty poisonous and rude to most people. Filled with sarcasm and genuine insults at others, she's more seen as a mild bully to most people. In regards to insults, her skin is pretty thick. She literally doesn't give a single hoot about what other people say about her.
  • Backstory: For Yasu, school was always a chore. Learn, sleep, repeat. That's all it was. Her family was rather militant; she would learn beyond her abilities, train beyond her body, and become the perfect society member. It was pretty miserable for the lazy Yasu. All she wanted to do was relax in life. Why did she have to put up with studying for 6 hours a day? Well, she found a way out of her grind. Battle schools, as they were called. She could practically emancipate herself and live on her own.

So she did just that. She found a nice, cheap apartment and a nice job and began to take control of her own life back. Battling was just a nice place to break up the monotony of constant studying. Really, she just wanted to get away from her parents. With an old, since retired AED that she had taken from her father, she battled and studied in no particular order. She was good at it, too. She quickly climbed the ranks and became a bit of a notable figure in the school. That's when she realized something; being high on the ranks sucked. Sure, it was good to get the benefits, but having to deal with the notoriety, constant challenges, and actually having to deal with club politics?

    That was hot garbage.

Wanting out of the grind once more, Yasu began to sandbag every single fight. Her rank plummeted and she was back to a healthy rank 3. Leaving her previous club, she joined a similar club of low-rankers: the manga club. Though, she really just chose the club because she could be left alone. Actually reading manga was just a nice bonus.
  • Inherent Engine Skill: Yasu can inherently perceive mana as a 6th sense. The range of this is technically indefinite, but it reaches 0% accuracy at about 20 meters. Beyond that, Yasu typically says that it's like a wall of fog and fuzz since she can't parse such a complex feeling. The specifics of what she can read are a bit confusing to outsiders; while she can reliably sense humans and the activation of most AED, things that are unique or nonstandard have to be carefully learned by her.
  • Active Engine Device: Taking the form of an ivory six-shot revolver, Highwayman is an Active Engine Device designed for ranged combat. Rather than simply damaging the physical aspect of those struck by the bullets, Highwayman also absorbs mana and redirects it back to the user. Because of this, Highwayman is a considerable threat to those who attempt to block it by most means. People who block with their AED soon find their weapons deactivated from repeated blows. A well placed shot on an AED could even temporarily disrupt the usage of it. If someone has the durability to eat the shots, they might find themselves slowly being sapped of their defense.

The bullets that Highwayman fires aren't ordinary shots. Based on how the user pulls the trigger, the bullet can either be fired as though it were a real round or it could be fired and, after a short distance, float in mid air. Because of this, the user can ricochet bullets off of their floating bullets, creating a miniature game of billiards. Except, you know, with guns and bullets. In order to reload Highwayman, the user simply pops out the barrel, gives it a spin, then swings it back in. If a bullet collides with a hard surface, it embeds itself on it, acting as a perfect point to ricochet bullets off of.
  • Skills: Yasu is insane at math. She's probably the smartest person at the school in regards to numbers. Besides that, she's incredibly good at seeing things that are far away. Less so when she has to look at things up close. She's also rather athletic, which is surprising. She also has a part time job, which is a skill of it's own when it comes to high schoolers.

Name: Dahlia Pendragon
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Human

Appearance:

With an average figure, Dahlia has retained a surprising amount of muscle underneath a layer of fat. In fact, in a library filled with nerds, Dahlia would probably be the strongest one there (which isn't saying much). A long-term diet of lifting up massive bundles of books and an unhealthy cycle of fasting and binging had left Dahlia with an unexpectedly healthy body. Her skin is pale from not going outside for months at a time. Despite her horrible habits, she is surprisingly well groomed. After all, she has to be well groomed in order to protect those ancient books from mold and mildew.

When she leaves the library, she wears thick clothes that covers almost all of her skin. Even in the dead heat of summer, she'll refuse to let any dust touch her skin. Even though she's a fledgling adventurer, her clothes are considerably more expensive than her contemporaries. After all, being a librarian and protecting years worth of knowledge tended to pay more than killing goblins.

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 160 pounds.
Eye color: Dark grey
Hair color: Black

Personality:
Dahlia is a bit of an eccentric. On the outside, she appears to be a bit of a klutz that can barely trudge through social interactions. It'd be more accurate to say that she has a different rhythm compared to most people. Her sense of timing is, compared to the average person, highly precise yet entirely inaccurate. When she talks about her interests, she can rattle off dozens of interesting tidbits and facts, but she struggles to talk about topics that she holds zero interest in. Her primary obsession that drives her to dive into the dungeon is her encyclopedia; all she wants is to catalog every single monster inside the labyrinth. In essence, Dahlia is a theory first, practice second woman. With her immense theoretical knowledge on many things, she tends to absolutely moff up everything in practice.

Likes: Trying new things, writing, realistic drawings, verifiable conclusions that can be repeated, books, good organization, and cleanliness.
Dislikes: Mold, mildew, illiterate people, artistic licenses, ambiguity, the sun, things that are truly random, and poorly kept records.
Hobbies: Recordkeeping and collecting books.

Background:
Born in Orario, Dahlia wasn't an adventurer until she was solidly an adult. In fact, since she was a child, she helped take care of the vast amounts of literature held within Orario. A scholarly sort of girl, she spent her life around books rather than people. These books shaped Dahlia; she spent all of her youth learning what was contained in those books that she cared for. Manuals on combat? Read. Monsters? Burnt into her head. Romance novellas? Seared deep within the confines of her mind, but there for sure.

But a deep lack of knowledge filled her with disdain. The books that she loved so much weren't infallible. Terrible blights such as poor record keeping, incorrect information, and inaccurate photos plagued these books. Spurred by this lack of perfected knowledge, Dahlia had decided to enter the dungeon using what wages she had collected from her time as a scholar. She would create her encyclopedia, chronicling every monster and floor that one could encounter.

And really, that's all there was to Dahlia's motives. She was just a girl with a dream to make a book.

With the small boot of Katya waking up Renauld, he quickly stood up and looked around. No sign of danger. Oh, they must have been preparing to leave. A brief moment of sleep had filled the tired man with a newfound sense of vigor. Well, as much vigor as someone who had just woke up after having spent a night sleeping in the snow could muster. Well, no point falling asleep again. It was time to haul on out and push on.

And now they had found themselves trying to move up a hill. The loose snow fought back against them. Were it not for Renauld catching himself with his staff, he would have found himself falling either face or ass first. He managed, though. The mood was foul, though. The group meshed about as well as a brick and an egg. Everyone had their personality quirks. Were it not for the occasional outburst of good energy coming from their healer, Renauld would have seriously considered there to be literal blood on the snow no less than a day.

Well, at least it was safe. Cold, miserable and tiring, but safe nonetheless.

Then Renauld sensed something. Not anything around them, no. He could only read the mood of the party. Ettamri sensed something. Argen sensed something. Muu sensed something. Even Siwon could sense something. Renauld could only go by the fact that Ettamri was already barking out orders like protecting the cart and supporting her.

Wait, she was pulling out her club? Well, at least she was lazily holding it. Then Ettamri yelled. Oh lord, Renauld had thought. If Ettamri had been a bit less... bold, they could have prepared and launched a counterattack if they were ambushed. Ambush the ambushers, one would think. Instead, now everything in a large radius was able to find their direction. Renauld took a deep breath. What's done is done. Instead, he'd stay by the cart and support the group. If they needed cover, he would give his all to make it. He just needed to not catch a sudden arrow in the neck.

Man, he missed his old team though. Even if they were mostly unlikable characters.
