Wes maneuvered his way through the crowd of students, a Jumpluff floating beside him. He was an introverted person by nature, but he felt uneasy when he didn't have some sort of companion – his Ninetales hated crowds more than he did, and the Krookodile took any chance he got to glare and growl at people in the hopes of starting a fight. So that just left Tilly, his bubbly Jumpluff. He was more careful than normal as he moved through the people because of the swaddled egg he held under his leather jack close to his chest.

Wes pushed through the doors of the dorm building, a red duffle bag (stuffed with what few possessions he had) over his shoulder and headphones playing music in his ears. Wes didn't particularly like the idea of rooming with someone else, but he'd gotten used to it after two years and he typically didn't spend much time in the room, anyway. Finding room 2-D was simple enough, and he nudged open the door with his shoulder.

He glanced up to see someone already in the room. Wes… had no idea who this other boy was. This wasn't surprising, as he didn't socialize much and paid little attention to his classmates. But still, it would've been nice to have had an idea of what sort of person he was to start off with. He looked around Wes' age, maybe a little younger, but there was little else to go off of. He looked like he had the concept of basic hygiene down, at least. Tilly trilled in greeting at this new person, while Wes just gave a little nod.

"Wes," he said by way of introduction. He looked over to the beds to see them both unclaimed. A bag was set behind them, but not particularly close to either. An eyebrow quirked up at that. Polite. Wes took the invitation for what it was and tossed his duffle onto the bed closest to him. Reaching up to slip the headphones out of his ears, he looped the wire over the back of his neck. He nodded in the Jumpluff's direction and said, "Tilly." She just gave another happy trill and floated over to their roommate to inspect him. Wes turned back to his bag and started yanking out his thin bedsheets after carefully placing the egg in the center of the bed.

Terra couldn't help the moment she took to just stand there in fearful disbelief before the chaos. But then reality slammed back into her with another rumble, and she clenched her fists at her sides. Her mind spun into overdrive as she looked back at the townspeople – the people she was responsible for. Mount Chimney, while still classified as an active volcano, hadn't gone off in over a century. The eventuality had always been at the back of people's minds, but the safe, easygoing life style had lulled people into thinking that calamities were a thing of more danger-prone cities. Faced with this very real scene, the people had begun to descend into frenzied panic.

Her jaw tightened as she thought. There was nothing they could do to stop the eruption, and the lava flow was threatening the only real way out of town, across from the volcano. Trying to seal up the cracks in the earth wouldn't work – it would only cause more pressure to build until another violent eruption happened. The only thing they could do was divert the lava as best they could and try to keep the town from falling into total chaos.

Reaching to her belt, Terra called out her three Pokemon, who were quick to take in the disorienting scene.

"Beck," she called, "watch the debris!" The Claydol looked up to see what she was referring to – smoking embers and chunks of rock shooting up out of the volcano and arcing over the town. They flew up, some rocks being halted by a blue glow and then flung back to collide with others in the air, while embers met an iridescent forcefield, summoned before they could land. It wasn't long before more red flashes lit up the sky, and other Pokemon were following the Claydol's lead. Terra could've laughed in relief, and she glanced from an Altaria soaring through the sky down to her trainer, a young man who'd challenged her several times over the past week. Confident the skies were managed, Terra looked back to the lava.

Divert the lava, protect the people, minimize damage, divert the lava, protect the people, minimize damage, repeated in her mind over and over.

"I need a wall and a trench," she shouted. Her two remaining Pokemon, her Vibrava and Sandslash, nodded in response and took off. As Quinn started digging and Lyla blew a gust of ice air along the side, Terra looked back to the people around her. Her eyes found Kevin looking to her for instructions. "Get people as far away as you can – west, away from here. We can't evacuate town with the lava coming this way, but if this works the damage shouldn't go too far into town." She turned then to the frantic crowd behind her. "If you've got Pokemon that can help, we need to divert the lava flow! If you can't, head to the west edge of town!"
Luce

When Luce reached the top of the ladder, she found herself on an old, weathered balcony, high above the reaching roots. The balcony led to a misshapen door that was tilted open. Inside the old woman dropped herself into a wooden chair and sat among various bottles and books, plants and papers. She leaned back and closed her eyes, not bothering to look at Luce as she spoke.

"Alright, I know you got questions. Now, I can't answer all of them, and frankly I don't got time to, neither. So you're in a new world. Ain't no way back. There's more creatures out here like those trees, but not all bad either. It'll be safe for you to leave come morning."

Bishop and Cronus

The Dragon's Kneecap was… really, the epitome of Nocklin life. Brigands and bandits looked to be on the cusp of starting a brawl, the waitstaff was being harassed, and through it all a woman stood on stage, singing a song that may or may not have been on key. Somewhere in the chaos, someone shouted in Bishop and Cronus' direction.

"Ha, new meat! Good luck lastin'!" There was a chorus of gruff laughter.

The creatures in Cronus' bag started to glow through the soaked fabric.
