@Riffus Maximus Mmm, i am going to have to look at that as well, once i am done catching up on reading this current arc. At least to get more of an idea of things. :)
@Riffus Maximus Ah! Thank you for the link to that post! *grabs another bag of popcorn* It does help with how many posts and pages there are. Time to dig into some reading! :)
Though looking at the Character tab at Angel, she seems like a pretty cool character. Her powers of course remind me of Black Canary from the old Justice League Unlimited cartoon show, in a good way.
You wouldn't be quite wrong about Chris and Siena being a ship, but you'd have to dig further into the RP to know more about the relationships between the characters. WishEater is heavily based on collaborative posts and weeks dedicated to character interaction have a tremendous amount of it.
Collab posts and week of character interaction do make for a lot of interaction and character building. That was one thing i thought was rather cool after first finding this roleplay in the first place. And honestly, it seems like a good idea with players working with each other to get stuff done.
*sighs* It does make me wish i was around when this place first started up, though. But things are as they are. Still, i'll bide my time until potentially signups for this come up again, like i said i would do in response to Banjo, and continue to read in the meantime.
I need to find some time to catch up to the full situation that is going on with the PC's right now, but dang...i like reading the stuff i have so far. Because i mean hey, a good story is a good story. So don't mind little old me. :3
*Sits back, eating popcorn as i read the new posts in this RP*
I think i could ship the dragon guy and the literary girl after that last post. Maybe. Kinda fun to think on it without looking back for the rest of the context. XD
Though i might need to look back a ways to see who this "Angel" is and how they died and such. Hmm. Curse there being so many posts to read through! lol
And....oh my. (O__O) That is one way to go insane and simultaneously reduce a person to naught but a dead corpse. Or at least, what seems like a dead corpse on appearance. Not a pleasant way to go though. Especially since Kusari has a regeneration sort of ability it seems.
Personality: Elena is a usually relaxed individual, who seems to enjoy life and seems fully normally human on first glance. This being noted, she feels a sort of "distance" between herself and normal humans, something she cannot just shake off, and feels in part that her seemingly "normal behavior" could honestly in part be called "acting". She think this because she can take on a certain "mode" wherein she shuts off her emotions in an instant. In a sense, one could call this other mode "mechanical" in its efficiency to a scary extent, though her mind is retained despite this. She does not tend to use it on average, however, due to not wanting to "scare" people in her normal life.
Since her waking, she has done her best to live among people, to put on the cloak of a "normal life", though has felt as if something was missing from the equation. It is not that she hasn't enjoyed life in some senses, but a notable question still sits in the back of her mind..."why was i made?". Such a thing continues to nag at her, eating away at her until perhaps she goes out and can finally acquire the true answer. Still, having been hired by a strange little girl, she has found a new mode of employment that might lead her into one of the most mysterious travels she has ever gone through...
Skills: She has basic day-to-day life skills, as well as experience with doctors, healers, and working as a barmaid under her belt that have all helped her gain a good work ethic to boot. However, she is competent in healing, especially with her healing magic, and knows some first aid as well. When it comes to her transmutation magic in particular, she is highly experienced, this being built into her after all from the start, and its versatility can be good both in and out of battle for her. Though of note, she is not as experienced in battle as even the average warrior or fighter, leaving her best suited for support roles, but definitely still not useless in a fight. However, she does possess a photographic memory, a great thing for taking in information, as well as abnormally large mana reserves.
Abilities:
-Transmutation Magic: This form of magic was built into her from the very start, imbued into her very being. It functions like the name sounds, allowing her to transmute substances, items, forms of matter, and materials into different ones, and/or even just altering their shape. Requiring a constant channeling of magic to use, however, this magic requires no words, no gestures, but can only be enacted/used through her making some form of physical contact with the intended target.
She can also use this in a limited medical application, attempting to transmute dead tissues and infectious organisms in wounds into living tissues or otherwise into something harmless/medicinal in purpose to help the one she is doing that type for transmutation to.
This magic also grants her the boon of being able to analyze the composition of potions and other things with physical contact to boot.
While very versatile in general survival situations, and able to be versatile in a fight, her lack of sheer battle experience is a hindering factor for her, but she is at the same time not incompetent either when it comes to conflict.
-"Maximum Output Mode": This mode was built into her blueprints originally, and was stabilized and perfected by her creator. By entering this mode, her ability to feel emotions is numbed completely and the areas of her brain where they are processed are temporarily converted into centers for accelerating the flow of mana in her body that enhances her senses and also the power output and speed of her spells. It is a strong mode where she keeps her mind, but is limited to 1 minute bursts with 5 minutes between each burst, leaving her dizzy and struggling with a crushing wave of emotions that hits her mind as an after-effect of this mode once her brain returns to normal. Only really to be used for desperate situations, this mode is very effective when used even if it is not perfect.
-Healing Magic: She is competent in general healing magic, both from helping healers and doctors as well as being "programmed" with the information on it to an extent by her creator. This makes her a handy medic, especially when combined with the limited medical applications of her transmutation magic.
-Magic Missile: A basic magic attack of condensed mana fired at an enemy, it is considered a very low-level spell that beginners learn for offensive attacks. For her, however, this spell is perfect with her mana reserves allowing for her to charge up more magic missiles, and larger and stronger magic missiles, than any average mage could normally. It is actually her attack spell of choice, really.
-Slowed Aging: Unknown to her, the aging process is virtually nonexistent for her (if at all), a thing that separates her from the "normal" but quite a margin. It is some odd aspect of her design who full extent is unknown in the long run. She isn't immortal, and can most definitely be killed in many ways like any human can be, but age will apparently not be a concern for her in the long run.
Equipment:
-Black Alchemists' Robes (a keepsake of her creator), with leather traveling boots and a traveler's leather cloak with a hood on it.
-A wallet with a small amount of cash on hand
-a water flask hung on a strap that goes over her right shoulder and the flask hanging on her left hip
-about 2 days of non-perishable food provisions on her person in a pouch hanging from her right hip on a brown leather belt she is wearing
[b][u]Brief History: Elena is a genetically engineered human, created in the heart of the Yeln Empire from advanced magitech methods for creating beings such as her. She was created by the magitech engineer Octavius Horaceson, one of the top scientists of the Yeln Empire. Octavius was one day charged with a project by a messenger from the royal family, to which he began his work in creating an engineered, artificial human being that would eventually become Elena herself. However, he did notice faults in the designs given to him, and as such Octavius used his intellect and knowledge to stabilize and perfect her design. Though he was never fully informed of the plan that Elena was to be made for, due to not having a good feeling about her potential use the man hid Elena and created a duplicate with the lesser abilities and lesser craftsmanship of the original designs sent to him. This "copy" was the one shipped off to Kyn Fortress....and was never seen again by him or those few working in his lab.
However, Elena was kept around, and was like a "daughter" to those who worked there, including Octavius. Claimed to be a "lab assistant" created to provide help, and supposedly being a "failed copy" of the product the royal family had ordered Octavius to make, Yeln was none the wiser about her actual identity.
During the war, Octavius was eventually commandeered by the Yeln military to test substances on prisoners captured from the conflict, in order to create a serum for bolstering the failing empire's own troops. He was even visited by the king a few times to see his results, most of which were faked whilst the morally torn scientist and Elena secretly freed many of the prisoners to avoid actually performing such human experimentation. In the process he leaked some information on what Yeln was wanting to do with prisoners, in exchange for the freedom of himself and his workers after the war was over. He felt that Yeln had overgrown its ability to maintain an empire and was not ruling fairly over the people, so much so that he defected formally to the rebellion near the end of the war against Yeln.
Elena in all of this used her abilities to assist her "father" in his experiments and in his endeavors. In reality, he taught her a lot about right and wrong, despite his workplace being a lab made to engineer individuals or super soldiers, and other various things for the war. Eventually the war ended, though Octavius and his workers were not all spared the gruesome slaughter that many soldiers took out on those who had once sided with Yeln in the conflict. Octavius himself was saved by rebel leaders, but his people were killed, and to protect her Elena was left in a stasis chamber stored in the back of the former Yeln base where he and his workers had been hiding.
A year after the conflict finally ended, Elena was found by scavengers, who saw her as potentially being a noblewoman or nobleman's daughter from some loyalist faction. She defended herself against them, killing them by surprise, before leaving the ruined old base and setting off to find the nearest town. From here she began, as her "father" had told her he wanted for her, to forge a life of her own. Working as a barmaid at first, earning some sort of keep, and then assisting the local doctors and healers in some cities during her travels for a few days at a time, she did some travel and labor in general to earn her keep. Though seeming to make a life for herself, she feels like something is missing from her, and has had some bit of a sinking feeling that she will never be able to be like unto the "normal" humans she has done her best to emulate.
Appearance: Xochitl, or "Maria" as she took on to by known by those outside her home nation's borders, is a teenage girl that stands at a height of 5'8". This height among her people is considered to be "tall" by their standards, though not abnormal for a woman or a girl. Her body, definitely matured by this point, has a very curvy, lean frame that adds much to her sex appeal and attractiveness.
Her smooth, very light chocolate skin tone is very common among her people, an easy thing by which to determine her heritage and her nation of origin as well. She possesses a pair of strange, gold colored eyes that denote her as having been "touched by the gods" among the people of the K'in Empire, and she has gained a few odd looks for this in the past. Her shiny, medium length black hair is styled into a long braid that hangs halfway down her back at most, being secured with a gold band with intricate designs of an ouroboros (a snake eating its own tail) etched into it that goes around the band itself that is a symbol of the goddess that granted her magic.
As for her outfit, it is the one depicted in this picture (minus the headdress and of course adding a bikini-top like garment under her top ): https://i.imgur.com/kyG5BG6.jpg
Personality: Xochitl is a relaxed and intelligent sort of individual on the average, not being a "dumb native" or a "backwards primitive girl" that some have assumed her to be simply due to her nation of origin. Interested in the mysteries of the world and its various people, she is an avid learner with a certain level of curiosity at times when her interest is piqued. She is willing to go to illegal lengths to attain a goal she has in mind, should she feels the situation requires it. Though when it comes to killing, she is selective and prefers to use careful judgment in such situations.....of course, unless she is in the case where someone is trying to kill her. Able to be a merry sort of individual in her personality whilst performing, she can put on friendly airs and conversation at her leisure, though equally can be utterly cold to her enemies in most situations.
She is a proud member of her people even in her travels, though at this point in her life the urge to travel and learn is still strong within her. However, she also takes pride in her abilities to be sneaky and use magic, things that have been important parts of her life out in the world.
In her travels she has also taken on the additional name "Maria", to make it simpler for those who cannot pronounce her actual name.
Skills: She's a magic user of distinct skill for someone her age, though this is in good part due to her unique circumstances in regards to her magic and a certain deity of her people. This being noted, her skill with a knife and in general survival skills in the wild are nothing to look down at, which based on her nation of origin are not strange things for her to have.
She has some skills in dancing, albeit only with the dances of her people.
When it comes to magitech she is not as good as those of more advanced nations might be apt to understand it better, though is not alien to it due to being around it a lot in her travels thus far and learning a little about it thus far. Just don't have her try to pilot a magitech carriage or similar thing on the fly....or have her try to use a magitech weapon without some training beforehand for that matter.
She can also be very sneaky, a thing learned for survival as well as learned with what little time she was involved with the war against Yeln near its end.
Abilities:
-Unlike magic used with magitech weapons or by general mages outside of her home nation, Xochitl possesses what is called "divine magic" among her people. Simply put, she was granted this unique form of magic by one of the deities that her people continue to worship, which cannot be taught to others (but rather is passed on via bloodlines and through one's children). In her case, this magic deals with the deity who gave it to her, Mahina, a snake-goddess who presides over life, death, creation, destruction, and rebirth. In other words, a creator goddess among her people.
This magic is familiar to those who perform alchemy in the outside world, being called "transmutation" that is able to transform types of matter into others, though is handier and more versatile than alchemic transmutation. In Xochitl's case, it is enacted through making physical contact with something she wants to transmute, and then focusing on what she wants it to be transmuted into. This can be used to change one type of material into another, such as wood to metal, but also can be applied to just change the shape of thing (transmuting a tree branch into a wooden bow frame for instance).
Of course, spamming this magic in all aspects of her life is not advisable. While she possesses a notably large mana pool, it is actually the constant focus this magic requires when used that would drain her swiftly if used for everything in her life from combat to survival in the wild.
-In her travels, she has begun to learn other magic as well, mainly these basic things: locking/unlocking doors, firing a basic "magic missile" projectile, a basic few healing spell/first aid spells, and how to create floating lights to follow you and provide light instead of buying a lantern.
-She is adept with her knife in both survival uses or for close quarters combat, she is adept with it in both manners when it comes to knife use.
-She is also a very sneaky individual, a skill learned for and from wilderness survival and during her time spent in the last part of the war against the Yeln Empire.
Equipment:
-She carries a knife with a fine metal blade and a smooth, well-made, polished bone handle on it.
-She own a compass she acquired from a trader, which she was taught to use as well.
-A leather pouch on her waist that she uses to carry money, with her knife and other smaller objects like her compass sheathed or hung on the band of the belt itself for ease of access.
Brief History: Xochitl is a girl among the people of the K'in Empire, a thick, wild jungle nation scattered over many island off the southern coast of the continent. Among her people is a long tradition of magic and riding the seas in boats, though they are notably not just some backwards people in the current world. They do, however, respect their traditions, one of which is continuing the worship of their gods. It is through this worship the gods grant them magic, and those who gain magic in such a manner possess strange, gold eyes that denote having been "touched by the gods" as the people of the K'in Empire would call them.
Born into an upper-class family of priests and leaders, she was the youngest member of her family, though at the age of 4 was "touched" by the goddess Mahina and gained her signature magic from her. Though after this time, she began to feel an urge to...explore, to learn, to go out into the world and see how it was. This drive eventually drove her at the age of 15 to leave home on a trading ship and into the wider world, though one which was in the middle of a war. Taken in by a local town trying to fend off a siege, in their desperation she became a spy for them, and over time became part of a local spy network that watched over troops movement, did some sabotage to Yeln camps and supply trains, and gathered information to help those in the area who had combined into a rebel force.
Two and a half years later, the war ended, with her area seeing little to not action by the end of the war. In the aftermath, Xochitl allowed herself to adjust back to a more average life, returning to traveling and her quest to learn about and explore the world. Without her former spy work and its pay she was given for it, she took to dancing as a street performer in places. Being an exotic looking individual with a beautiful voice, she has easily found work in this...though....a sudden new offer given to her has put before her the chance to set out into the world for another adventure...
On a set of southern tropical islands all covered in thick jungle, and a seemingly nigh-untamable array of vivid, dangerous, and colorful wildlife that seems to hail from ages long past, there is a widespread nation based on the Aztecs/Mayans. Since olden times they have worshipped their olden deities in temples made of beautifully decorated and carved marble and stone, and have kept many an ancient tradition alive within their culture over the centuries. Festivals, traditional attire, and a long history of magic and old magic given to them by the gods in ancient time and passed on for many generations that are sewn within the culture of this nation, which has been ruled by the legendary "Sage Kings", said to have been granted great longevity by the magic of the gods in order to rule over their people and to protect them with all their wisdom and might, to learn and preserve the lands of their nation.
However, at the same time they are a people who have learned to adapt to a harsh world, to move forward with the world or to fall silent into the steamy jungle nights. As magitech has become a thing in other nations with the advancing of magic, so too have the people of this nation on their islands adopted this magitech in their own manner. Monstrous boats made of enchanted stone and iron that come alive and pursue invaders ceaselessly without having to need crews, eating ships and men alike who attempt to invade the thickly mist-coated seas filed with rocks and jagged shores for the unknowing to fall upon. New "chariots" introduced to them by foreigners that transport people and resources from place to place, pulled by enchanted golems or dinosaur-like reptilian beasts of burden. Stronger buildings made with metal supports of better make and firmly cut ancient stonestone, farms on great floating islands able to prosper more with magic techinques used to purify sea water into fresh water, and swift sailing vessels for transport, trade, and military action that are able to move from place to place over short or long distances with efficiency only masters of the sea could muster.
They are a nation that combines the old and the new. Ancient magic and culture, combined with newer techniques, magics, and certain technologies that increase the ease of their lives in this world. Using their resourcefulness, wisdom, and the unconquerable wilderness around them, the nation known as the "K'in Empire" ("K'in" means "sun" in the Mayan language) has survived and weathered many a storm, many a challenge, many a war...and so in this manner they continue on.
The nation is notable for their lucrative trade and wealth of gemstones, rather than of gold or silver, as well as possessing a notable navy for such a 'primitive looking bunch' as some of the more refined nations consider them. However, not many have wanted to venture into their lands to investigate everything about them, though an amount of these people have emerged from their islands to explore and live in the rest of the known world. From these people comes what little is known of their culture commonly outside of information gained from traders or explorers, or politicians and such who have visited their lands.
In regards to the war with Yeln, in the earliest days of the war the nation itself had some of its traders hired out by each side of the conflict for transport and a mercenaries. However, the K'in nation itself did not get directly involved in the conflict with its troops for most of the war, much to the ire of the rebelling nations, until Yeln turned on K'in despite possessing a trade agreement and peace deal with it. At this point naval raids and invasions on Yeln's coasts by the K'in navy became very common, leading to the seizure of an island in particular off of the coast of Yeln proper that is now owned by the K'in Empire.
Just wanted to stop on by here, after looking at this place a bit, and say it seems like quite the detailed and interesting RP! Kudos to the makers of this place! :)
....Now i just wish there was an opening here to join. XD
