It's not really the same but I believe that clicking space bar technically moves the entire screen down 1-screen's worth of content, so I guess that's sort of the middle ground that's already built in.

Feature Request Thread

>Justified text. It's been at least two years and it still doesn't seem to be here. Also, if possible, can we get an update to the BBCode Cheatsheet? There's at least one function--abbreviation--that isn't even mentioned on it, even though it seems to be a rather basic one. A link to one of the BBCode guides being put in there would also help newcomers so they don't have to go hunting them down, or wait for a user drop a link.

Building off of this, ages ago when I wasn't banished to the shadow realm from the Discord I had a discussion with Mahz about implementation of a sophisticated text processor -- think in-text editing, justified text, resizing images on the fly -- instead of... well, whatever this is we have now is severely hampering long form writing. He'd said it was something he'd played with before but I guess never got anywhere with it, but like, we're on a writing forum, the word processor should be the most important tool on the website. At least, that's what I think.

Post-Apocalypse, original or Fallout, 18+ 1x1

Hey fellas and fellates,

I'm looking for a post-apocalyptic RP, ideally set in the Fallout universe but open to original settings also. To keep things brief, I am not looking for any specific pairings but will add that I lend myself well to male roles with a dominant (err, whatever that might mean to you) role within the interpersonal relationship we'll be writing about. Whether that is a smutfest 18+ NSFW superparty or just a normal relationship is up to us to decide, but my characters tend to be forceful and masculine. Maybe to a fault. I can bounce off of any characters except those that are basically empty shells. You can play a self-insert or a super original character, as long as they're well written.

Either way, that's what we are working with. Thanks for reading, my atom bomb baby.

@nodogs yeah, I think with Jack's attitude and her apathy she'd probably fit in well with Ben personally. His friend group is pretty non-descript but I can see Jack and Ben "hanging out" by just quietly hanging out and not really engaging too much with anyone beyond the regular friend group banter. I envision Ben's friend group as being sort of stable for the most part so it probably wouldn't have been teen drama that drove her away from them and maybe more their status of just generic dude that did generic things and didn't stand out much? No juicy goss to overhear with them either which way besides maybe what videogames they're playing or what happened in class that day.

@Eleven there is definitely some possibility for us to cooperatively come up with a backstory here -- in fact, her dad would fit pretty well (err, more like perfectly) for what I want Ben and his dad to be involved in. The fact that their powers are sort of the same but also totally different is really interesting too. Would you mind if I PMed you with some extra info? We can figure out from there if there's a link between them -- if you like, of course!

@Prisk yeah inclined to agree... she probably knew of him but unfortunately (and I get that this is probably lazy writing, but it was a setup for his power and future arcs) I wrote him as being sort of under the radar, yeah. I guess the only hook could be his father being a semi-important mid-level criminal of sorts if your character has any knowledge on that part of the world. But that's a big if, I think.

LIFE AT RITMAN Benjamin's reputation was that of an average guy; he came to school, hung out with his own friend group, and mostly stuck to those he knew. He avoided the limelight, in a casual type of way, without making a target of himself. For this reason, he was probably not very memorable; just another kid in school. There were occasional rumors that Benjamin's father was some important guy to the nightlife in Portland, and when asked about it, Benjamin always replied that his father was someone who took care of the trash. Most people took this to mean that he was a bouncer or something to that effect. The truth was always deceiving. Academically, the description that best fit Benjamin was ''uninterested.'' He was not an under- or overachiever, but nobody in his home life ever really expected him to be. They merely expected him to get through the school program with as few hiccups as possible, and not much more. To his peers, this likely translated as him just sort of being there; he wasn't dumb or smart, but somewhere firmly in the middle, and he didn't participate when he didn't have to. He also didn't fit the jock stereotype -- sports didn't interest him nor did the social community surrounding it. Attending a high school football game was an outing for him to be with his friends and get up to some minor trouble -- not a way to show off his athletic prowess or interest. PSYCHE Benjamin is a generally hard-to-know person. He is stand-offish, and is quick to throw up a wall around himself while masquerading as someone who is ''just introverted.'' He carries himself professionally, and is very precise in his social interactions; it is easy to see that he picks his words deliberately and carefully. That is not to say he is incapable of explosions; more so that when it matters, he has the control not to explode. His personality has most definitely ''cost'' him. In professional circles, especially with his true profession, it has helped him. Socially, however, he has few friends besides those that remained with him after high school or the associates of his father. But on a personal level it has affected his mental status greatly; he is isolated and removed from most social forms of contact. His true profession has him sworn to secrecy and his status as the son of a somewhat important criminal figure in Portland has left him in the shadow of a giant, the expectation being that one day he takes over from his father of course. His lack of friendships or personal relationships have worsened his existing anti-social behaviors, which provides a direct antithesis to his incredible desire for social contacts. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔

POWER Benjamin possesses the power of indoctrination. Those who are near him will find themselves inexplicably attracted to Benjamin (platonically) and begin to see him as a great person, someone who is incapable of doing evil or bad things. They begin to like him more as a person, and want to spend more time with him. The longer they spend with him, the more prone they become to his suggestion, eventually to the point where anything he says is taken as a fact no matter what. He could tell someone that the sky is green and the grass is purple, and they'd not only believe it, but preach it to others, and get a negative view of those who go against this new wisdom. There's no physical manifestation of this power nor is this something that is controlled. It simply happens passively, with or without Benjamin's wishes for it to be so. It could easily be argued that this power is a direct manifestation of Benjamin's desire for friendships and social contacts, let alone people that agree with his every word and want nothing more than to spend eternity with him. How or why this power manifested like this is a mystery to everyone, including Benjamin. In a way, even the lack of control he has over the power is easily attributed to the lack of control he feels in his own life; nobody ever asked him what he wanted to do, they all just assumed he'd follow in his fathers footsteps. All he needed was the power to do so. And with this new power, surely he'll dwarf his fathers footsteps. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔

- ▼ STRENGTHS ► The indoctrination is very hard to notice until it's too late; indoctrinated people do not behave any different from normal aside from a very sudden approval of Benjamin. ► Given enough time and proximity, the effects can be very strong. A cashier at a store he visits just once will probably not feel the effects strong enough to change her behavior much more than offering him a smile where they're otherwise grim. But someone who spends long times close to Benjamin would, in a literal sense, die for him. ► The ability to indirectly steer people's behaviors is not the same as mind control; where mind control overrides the victim's will with that of the user and requires direct control, indoctrination takes a more subtle approach that allows the user to utilize the victim's strengths, knowledge and personality. They are still able to act independently and make their own informed choices. ▼ WEAKNESSES ► Not everyone can be indoctrinated. Those with a strong enough mental resistance are able to resist the indoctrination completely. Should this ever change and their resistance weakens, they may begin to feel the effects, of course, but the inverse applies as well. Furthermore, long(er) periods of being away from Benjamin will also slowly wear down the effects of indoctrination, and leave the victims confused (but cognizant) on the situation. ► The fact that indoctrination is not the same as mind control means that the indoctrinated people are not thralls; they retain a modicum of free will and while the power of suggestion is very strong in the late stages of indoctrination, it is merely limited to suggestion/orders and not direct control. ► The power is very subtle and passive, and as a result cannot be summoned at will to help in a situation. The fact that the power does not grant the user any specific powers himself also means that, in certain scenario's, he may be left defenseless. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
