@RumikoOhara Or, I dunno, help a certain Meta-Human Private Eye with his investigations. <_<
@Gurren1 Yes.

@Ves Accepted.
Just to clarify something since I failed to do so in the OP (I apologize for that btw) but the RP is set to take place only a few months after the explosion, so the few characters who have seemingly had their powers since they were a kid are sadly not going to work with that timeline.

Anywho, onto character analyses:

@RumikoOhara and @Bright_Ops, both of you are accepted.

@Rin I would personality remove the resistance to mental attacks, since I believe that's always been a common weakness for characters like Thing and Juggernaut (Hulk too maybe but I'm not really sure since I'm not as familiar with him). But if you'd rather have a weakness to an element or stone or whatever then that would be fine too.

@Teal Technically Modern City has been around for about 200 years (having been started in 1815). I'm not sure how fast or slow the village grew, so I'm also unsure how Lance "growing up with the city" could be feasibly done. Admittedly I rather like him as a concept, former badass spy and all that.

If Teal or anyone has any suggestions for what Modern City's historical timeline could look like please let me know. I would like to accept Teal's character but I also want it to be done right, you know?

Edit: @SwarthyBard126 Accepted
OK, most everyone is looking good so far. Though here a coupe of specific things I need to address:

@DaDrummer676 I don't really think that hair turning red is enough of a weakness. An ant's proportional strength is lifting 50 times its body weight, that would essentially mean you could easily throw cars around, but unless there's some legit negative side effects to counteract this, then I'm afraid I can't accept it yet.

@Renny OK, not gonna lie, loving the Ben Grimm vibe (seeing the word clobberin' seriously made my day), but I would personally tone down the invulnerability a bit since it sounds there's no feasible way to stop him should he ever go on a rampage, which is a bit balanced unless I'm missing something, in which case feel free to correct me.

@SwarthyBard126 Um... does his eye power and enhanced physical prowess somehow not count as "real powers"? 'Cause they seem pretty real to me.

Aside from those points, if you're character sheet is completed and I didn't address you for something above, then consider yourself accepted and post them over onto the character tab.

Oh, right, before I forget, my own character is complete so we all know.
Name: Carter Andrews
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian

Appearance

Personality: Carter is, for the most part, a nice enough guy but with a bit of a devil-may-care attitude thrown into the mix. Strangely, he took to the whole superhero thing rather quickly, though that may have just been a way for him not to have to think about the severity of the explosion incident, choosing instead to devote his energy into beating up bad guys since according to him that is much less stressful. Don't let his attitude fool you, though, underneath his lazy and carefree expression is a surprisingly keen eye and sharp instinct that he only rarely shows off.

Background: Carter's a born-and-raised Modern City Georgian. He was the second child of his family, the first being his sister Claire. The brother and sister were pretty close growing up, probably the reason why she's so willing to put up with his shenanigans despite him supposedly driving her up the wall. Both of their parents worked as public servants, their mother Alice being the current Director of Modern City General Hospital and their father Joe (or Joseph as he's known professionally) a judge, and a pretty well-known one at that.

Carter, like his dad, decided early on to pursue a career in law. Though unlike Joe, Carter's interest was instead firmly in law enforcement, and so rather than a legal career, he instead became a cop. Claire was a bit of an odd duck, pursuing neither law nor medicine and instead gained a career in politics, hence her current position as Deputy Mayor under Mayor Wellington. As for Carter, he was a good enough cop, though his work was never particularly outstanding.

In fact, Carter was on duty on the day of the explosion, patrolling at the docks with his partner, James. Naturally, the two responded immediately and went to investigate closer. Though that might have been their undoing in the end. As they moved in closer to the beach, they came across people that were horribly effected by the chemicals, some mutating before their very eyes. One of the mutated people, likely driven mad by the chemical exposure, lashed out at them. Carter instinctively pulled his gun to shoot, but the bullets did nothing to the creature. It lunged for Carter, but James shoved him out of the way, taking the attack instead. Carter lost consciousness, awakening some time later in a hospital room with his parents and sister gathered around him.

He went through the reports and discovered that James was among the casualties. From there things just... spiraled for Carter. He ended up quitting the force and started drinking more. His mysterious wings started growing from his shoulder blades and that certainly didn't help matters. He had to move out of his place and into a cheaper apartment, but in that process he was going through his old stuff and found something. They were some old comic books he used to read as a kid, he remembered them being what inspired him to become a cop in the first place, to catch bad guys and put them away like the heroes in the masks. Then he was struck with an idea. Using inspiration from some of the characters in his old comic book collection, he managed to put together a costume, then all he needed was a name. Remembering that birds of prey were a commonly used motif for naming things in Modern City, he decided to do the same for himself, soon settling on the name Condor.

Whatever depression he'd once had seemed to vanish after this. He was back to being the carefree guy he used to be. Realizing that he needed a day job, he decided to put his police training to a new use by opening up a small private eye agency, even advertizing that cases involving Meta-Humans were his specialty in order to attract clients as well as leads on other Meta-Humans like himself.

Other: Nothing in particular at this time.

Rules

1. The GM's, or any assigned Co-GM's, word is law.
2. Standard site rules regarding flaming and the like.
3. When choosing a power, follow the rule of thumb that stronger powers should probably have stronger or more severe negative side effects.
4. Also on powers, to have a stronger power would mean having been closer to the chemical explosion and vice versa.
5. I've provided some traits of Modern City courtesy of suggestions by various people in the interest check, but feel free to make more suggestions. I want Modern City to almost be a character in its own right, with lots neat little tidbits and things to make it feel more organic and alive.
I like that third one... like a lot. Got a strange but cool Elvis vibe to it as well, which I love.
Alright, I'll certainly be keeping those in consideration, as they are quite good ideas.

Anyway, I'm in the process of writing up an OOC and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a Football team name? I'm including two colleges (Modern City University or MCU, and Modern City Tech or MCT) and I want to give MCU a football team that the whole town is likely proud of.

Edit: I'm also having a hard thinking up a good name for a local rock band.
Alright so we've got... rival corporations (instead of full on corruption we could tone them down to just being shady?), a big Modern City Academy as the main school, some kind of mountain landmark (might be a little strange in a coastal town but I think I can do it still), and definitely a laboratory of some kind within the business district.

Now, next question: What about people? Any kind of important or celebrity figures you'd like me to focus on? The mayor, perhaps? Maybe a local rock band or something that's popular with all the kids? Any other educational facilities such as colleges or the like that I should take into consideration?

I'm really the digging the idea of cooperatively building the setting, right now. Got the idea from a tabletop RPG called FATE.

Anyway, to answer an earlier question, I was intending this to be set in present day. Unless of course there's enough consensus to set it in a different era?
