Hi. Someone needs to do something about the quality of the crayons at restaurants. The color doesn't even stick to the menu. How am I supposed to compete with a child with these?

”I’m telling you, Jin was floored when he realized who you were,”
canaryrose
Really?”
vietmyke
Sumire was happily chatting away to anyone who would listen during the drive to the forest, the bunny ears on her helmet flopping excitedly as the animated young woman was basically permanently turned around from her spot in the passenger seat, peering into the back bench. Her current target of conversation was Chu Hua, whom she was animatedly yapping at, much to Jin’s chagrin- but she couldn’t see the red of his face behind his polarized helmet. Thus, as though pretending to not grasp the concept of object permanence, Sumire decided to act as though he didn’t exist in that moment. ”All he listened to out in the desert were podtalks and shoutcasts about Stickball. I said if he wanted an autograph he should just ask, but he said it would’ve been too awkward given everything that’s gone down. I think that’s silly and he should-”

”Dammit Mire- Ignore her!” Jin grunted without looking over his shoulder, his faceplate polarized enough that his expression was invisible to the others, though one might reasonably guess what his face looked like. ”Don’t make me stick you in Feyi’s jeep.”

”You. Wouldn’t. Dare.” The bunny ears whipped back towards the front.
canaryrose
Chu let a small smirk cross her face as she listened to Sumire recount how starstruck Jin had been. She was enjoying this- not only because it was funny to see Jin embarrassed, but because she just liked being talked to. Especially in this car. She had refused to sit in the trunk, where she probably would have fit a bit more, so Chu was jammed up between the right window, the passenger seat, and Weiyuan, who had been forced to sit in the middle. It was an uncomfortable ride, and not just because of how tight it was.

“Did he figure that out before or after he nearly kicked me out of the car?” Chu joked, making what she hoped was eye contact with Jin in the rear view mirror. That day felt like eons ago, really, but she still didn’t know Jin too well. Didn’t know any of them. “I think I’m well beyond being a celebrity at this point, though. I was a firebender way before I was ever on TV, and that kind of seems like the part of me that matters, now. An autograph would be kind of weird if you’re seeing so much of me.”

Plus, you practically have an autograph on the floor of your trunk.
vietmyke
”Not that it matters- nor am I apologizing,” Jin clarified, ”I didn’t know it was you yelling at me- I got shot in the head, and heard someone yelling at me.” He tapped at a corner of the now smoothed glass of his faceplate that had previously been cracked. Crazy to think that it was only a week ago- it felt like a subjective lifetime ago now. ”So I yelled back. Deal it, take it. But yes, we were aware of who you were.”

”We’d figured it out when you strolled up into the campsite.” Sumire nodded helpfully, ”Firebender celebrity is still a celebrity, you stuck out like a sore thumb.”
canaryrose
“Yeah, you and half the camp did,” Chu said, letting out a small laugh at the memory. It wasn’t a happy one, but in retrospect… yeah, it was kind of funny that two pro sports stars had just walked into a camp in the Wastes. “We had more than a few people come up to us and try and talk to us, actually. But I was spent at that point. Didn’t care, neither did Kanna. We just wanted to… I dunno, be safe, I guess.” Chu let that hang for a moment. Were they even really safe now? Could she say she had gotten everything she wanted? No, no she couldn’t.
vietmyke
”I dunno about Jin, but I’d still take an autograph!” The smaller girl remarked brightly, turning her head to show off the smooth white face of the side of her helmet and tapped it.

”Mire, quit bugging her.” Jin scolded the younger Piperunner before finally glancing up at the mirror to make what appeared to be eye contact, if still through his polarized glass.
canaryrose
She quirked a brow at Sumire. “I’ll give you an autograph if you want, but I dunno how much resale value it’ll have, kid,” she joked, taking a glance at the mirror when Jin did. She smirked.

“Got a favorite team, Jin? Maybe we can still pick up radio this far out… or I could tell you all the dirty secrets and shit.”
vietmyke
”I’m a Cabbage Corp. guy- Nal Nid’s got a nasty swing, even if he is a bit of a prick. Mire’s team is-”

”Turtleducks!” Sumire proclaimed loudly and proudly, a lower ring fan through and through- and likely just as rowdy, ”LETS GO DUCKS!” the bunny ears flopped erratically as Sumire began pumping her fists as though she were preparing to start cheering and her passenger seat was in fact a stadium box.
canaryrose
“Ugh, you guys are those people,” she groused, joking. Stickball team rivalries- it was the one thing guaranteed to pull everyone together. A common topic. A good common topic, for people she knew nothing about. “Jin- you’re just plain wrong. Nal Nid is a prick and is mediocre at best. Your guys’ defense fucks me up every time though, I’ll give you that. And, the Ducks… well.” She winked at Sumire in the mirror. “They’re good. Give me a hard game. Not as good as the ‘Moles, though.”
Passable Writer
Vasra flickered to life, weariness fading from her body, as she focused on the conversation. Losing a patient was hard. And the girl that died in her hands still flashed before her eyes when sleep overwhelmed her.

Summary. A little after two hours on the road, the group approach a rest stop where they can take a quick break.
Prompts.
The small convoy picks their way carefully through the abandoned vehicles on the road, eventually reaching the looped off ramp and making it safely into the rest stop without incident.

The rest stop itself is little more than a singular rectangular building with clearly marked areas for restrooms and a section in-between where people could sit. A dirt patched area extends from one side of the building at an angle, enclosing a section of the road where cars could park. It had obviously at one point in another life been grass. The dead trees are the only remaining sign that there had once been plant life here.

Scattered around the stop are a plethora of abandoned vehicles. All of them seem to be picked clean. Judging by the arrangement of the vehicles both in the rest stop and in the immediate area, it seems that in the early days of the war, the more ill prepared people fleeing the nearby city of Gao Ling ended up here, regrouping with friends and families and making plans for what was next. Eventually enough people had gathered that it turned into a temporary camp. Over time, people left out of necessity, some people tried to make the rest stop a permanent home but years of surviving saw it abandoned soon after. The signs of this are all here, though they've nearly faded completely away after nearly 100 years left alone.

Passing around the rest stop is the road that becomes the overpass and continues into the distance, and to the West, the highway that leads to their destination. In the far distance, the subtle outline of a city is visible.

Feyi parks her jeep at the end of the rest stop with the front of the vehicle facing West. She gets out and studies the path ahead through a pair of binoculars. Tenet stands nearby and Takoa wanders off to take a piss. She informs everyone that they'll be back on the road in fifteen.

Tu Zin, had been a fresh start. A welcome relief after all the fear. But there was work to do. There were people to treat. Doctors were rare in the wilds. And she had not been idle. It was the least she could do. No one seemed particularly happy when she had demanded to go with the other newcomers. It was an unnecessary risk, she knew. It was selfish of her. Better to keep someone as valuable as a doctor safe. She knew that. However, she couldn't abandon her companions. They had saved her. They felt safe. She liked them.

She shifted, leaning over one of the battered headrests that separated the baggage compartment from the front of the Kyoshi.

"My older brother used to take me to Stickball games. Nelu loved the Badgermoles. However, he always said no one was as good as Liang Shi, though,” she added with a smirk.

“I still remember the giant poster of her that he had in his bedroom. It was more than a little awkward when I walked in on him kissing it,” Vasra said laughing into her hand.
Exit
Conversation was interrupted briefly when Feyi’s voice crackled over the radio. ”We’re pulling over at that rest stop up ahead.”

The road continued under the overpass before looping back around on the far side and connecting with the small gathering of buildings off to the side of the road. A similar looped road connected back to the highway that continued Westward. All along the road and in both directions, cars were densely packed together and at times seemingly, haphazardly stacked. So close were these cars parked that it was impossible to navigate through besides the single lane path that was carved out of the other vehicles. It was a tight fit, but both the Kyoshi and the jeep could make it through.
Theyra
Reman so far in the trip had chosen to remain silent, busy in the middle of his own thoughts as he watched the scenery pass by and change. He was still listening to what the others were saying but Reman is not that much of a stickball fan. That was more the interest of his older brother though Reman has seen some games out of respect for his family but it mostly fails to keep his interest. So he had little to add to the group’s conversation.

Though he would chuckled briefly at one thought about stickball For. Reman knows his brother would be mega jealous that he is hanging out with the Chu Hua Yuan. His brother being a big fan of hers and now Reman is the one travelling and doing stuff with her and not him. Granted Reman is not sure how his brother would feel about Chu being a bender and maybe it is best that stays that way if he does not know for his own sake.

Still, when Feyi got on the radio about the rest stop and Reman got out of his head. Studying the scene as he wondered what could have caused a old traffic jam that made it that they could barely pass through. ”So how is everyone doing so far?” Reman asked the group as he looked at the rest stop. “Besides stickball and I say so far so good.”

- Probably best case scenario for word wrap. I can [sub] more
(hehe) but the line break now looks nice with paragraphs.
- I learned that some tags protect the content inside from
manipulation outside those tags. So, if I quote text inside the
table and then shift the entire table down with sub tags, the text
will not also be 'subbed' further.
- Sub tags attached to table will shift images and shrink the
nested table. To protect nested table without shifting it to the
right with a quote bar, I've used header tags. Text inside nested
table is now font used in headers.
- Also had to manipulate the bar above body of text with header
tags so font is changed there too.

Who are you?
I was given to the state by parents fearful of the repercussions that would have been levied upon them had the Republic discovered their child a bender on their own. My ‘gift’ was revealed to me at a young age, and so the decision to hand me over was done early in my life. The LSF is all I’ve really known.

After completing the bulk of my training at a young age, I was allowed ample time to visit my family and watch my younger sister grow up. Vasra was a child of possibility from the start. A younger sister with a drive and hope in her eyes that out shined everyone around her and it showed. Not just at home but at school as well. She was smart. I would have preferred to remain by her side as she continued to grow but as I turned 18, my life would become a tool for the LSF. Time spent at home slowly declined until, to make things simpler for myself and those trying to create a life for me as a cover, I decided it was best to join the Republic Security Force. During the day, I patrol the Lower Ring, protecting what shred of civil order remains. My real job, however, is Captain of the main operations unit of the LSF where I am in charge of holding together a team made up of some of the most dangerous benders left in the world and making sure that the broken family they’ve been forced to create is one that is as secure for them as possible.

Despite what many believe, we are not all monsters. We care for the people of the Republic. We care about the future and protecting that future. We care about preserving the peace so carefully crafted by the Red Lotus and their promise of a better tomorrow. Most importantly, we care about each other, or at the very least the sentiment is something I try to reinforce with each member of my team. Some are more receptive to it than others but at the end of the day, as long as the job is getting done and everyone is still playing for the same team, that’s all that matters.

As one of the oldest members of this group, I was given the opportunity to train with many LSF hopefuls. We spent copious amounts of time learning together. Learning each other. Finding ways to push and to challenge the other so we can find a more perfect version of ourselves. Some of it was for a want of power. Others just wanted to make it out of the program. The rest simply didn’t want to die. The few that survived to graduation have garnered a respect from me that no one else has. There was no small amount of sacrifice necessary to complete the training we did, and there is no one else who’d I trust to have my back in the field than the people with me now.

What is your opinion on Benders?
It’s quite simple really. They have to die. Eventually, when and if no more benders exist, I will go too. It’s what’s necessary for the world. What’s necessary to protect my family and until we are all gone, there can never be true peace.
________________________________________________________________

Vasra Dermok. Tarnelu's younger sister and one of the few bright constants in his life. Although the two have become somewhat estranged in recent years, despite Nelu's strict upbringing under the LSF, they were at one point very close. Nelu had tried his best to give to his sister a brother whom she could rely on. Even now as adults, he's still protective of her and has spent his spare time keeping an eye on her and making sure the more dangerous parts of her life were never cause for harm.

Her absence has been a steadily growing point of anxiety that is becoming increasingly difficult for him to hide.

Who are you?
Object-141, also known as the Elimination Protocol, is a cybernetically-altered non-bender. Everything about the “man” is exceptionally classified - even to those in the higher echelons of the LSF. If all else fails and the element of surprise and confusion is lost then Object-141 will be spent to stabilize the situation by ensuring that no witnesses ever live to tell a single tale. Augmented with the bleeding edge of cybernetic technology, Object-141 is the pinnacle of a “clean-up” person. Rendered down to a killing machine, Object-141 is nothing but that - no personality, hobbies, emotions, or likes. Whatever human traits remained were utterly wiped - replaced with a neuro-link that feeds mission data directly from LSF command. To many, especially within the LSF, Object-141 is a walking horror of body modifications and cybernetics. A nightmare used to combat equally nightmarish opponents of the Republic. And if worse comes to worst, eliminate other Red Lotus agents deemed ‘problematic.’

Equipment
N3 Sensor Array. Stationed at the head, the N3 is an extremely miniaturized sensor system that allows Object-141 to near-perfectly detect anyone or thing in its immediate range (50 Yards or so). Be that by thermals, sounds, light, wavelength spectrum, and a whole host of other detection measures. Given this, hiding is near-impossible for anyone without a dedicated plan with heavy resources to back it up.

Aside from senors, the N3 also has other packages as well. A vital-monitoring system is utilized to keep track of Object-141’s health - in and out of combat. More importantly, the system is there to trigger an emergency auto-injection if things were to go south for 141 in any situation. Enough only for one-time, embedded injectors will administer a lethal dosage of narcotics to keep 141 alive and fighting to its absolute limits - until the mission is finished or it dies trying.

A final note - the whole array is directly integrated into the brain with a neuro-link that feeds mission data directly from central command.

Distortion Grenades. Commissioned by 141 itself, these non-lethal hi-tech grenades produce an array of sensory effects to temporarily disorient opponents. The two most noticeable outputs are the immediate bright flash of extreme intensity - followed by a hi-pitch sound to cause an equally hellish ring in people’s ears. And lastly is an outflow of smoke to blanket the area. A total of 4 is normally on 141 at any one time on a mission.

Nano-Suit 5A. Considered the bleeding edge of recently invented nanotechnology, the 5A is composed of nano-architected graphene sheets. Only a concentrated volume of quality high-caliber armor-piercing grade munitions, or Synergy weapons, is the bare minimum to even cause any form of decent threat to the suit. Coupled with its extreme lightweight and all-around chemical and biological protection, the 5A serves as the pinnacle of nanotechnical armor.

Other Cybernetics
Underneath the nano-suit is a complex labyrinth of cybernetic implants. New organs, replaced parts, and enhancements of all sorts, Object-141 is a freakshow of a human - if 141 is even considered one at this point. A horrific perfecting of human experimentation that permits 141 to be extremely stronger and faster in its actions. The Elimination Protocol is not a title or name merely given for superficial means, but an understanding by the LSF that a situation has spiraled out of control and needs to be dealt with, by the utter brutality of violence of the highest degree.

The entrance to the club was much more chaotic than Katakuri had anticipated. Instead of the muted sounds of music spilling from its glowing archways, it seemed the club patrons themselves were coming out, seemingly and suddenly forced to leave, evident by the bewildered expressions on their face. As they filed out, armed individuals were beginning to move in. Foot soldiers for the numerous other gangs allied with the ‘leader’ of the Underground were mobilizing in force.

Katauri paused. This wasn’t supposed to be happening. As far as he knew, the broadcast from Tao shouldn’t have already reached the very bottom of the Underground. There was no way any of these people should have been expecting anyone, but with the way they were running around trying to organize, it was obvious they were. The ‘who’ he had no way of knowing, but despite his uncertainty, he was very certain of the danger Chosah would be in should he hesitate now. There was no going back anymore. There hadn’t been for a while. He had to press forward.

Katakuri scooped a tired Chosah up into his arms. She immediately clung to his chest and rested her cheek against him. He could hear her steady breath as the sound of air hissing through the mask covering her nose and mouth. In their shadow were Archer and Dutchess, still diligently following behind them despite how wildly out of place they were. Their maws were now caked in partially dried blood, a promise and a warning to those who would test their intent to protect Katakuri’s charge or wish harm on any of them. They kept on Katakuri’s heels as he pushed past a few of the clubbers leaving and stepped up to the front door. He was immediately stopped by a large man.

”Nu-uh. Club’s closed… and no kids all-”

”My daughter is a Firebender. I heard there’s a place down here where she’ll be safe.” Katakuri stated almost unnaturally calmly given what one might think about the seriousness of his situation. Despite the odd tone, however, the man’s expression immediately softened. His eyes fell on the child curled up in the man’s arms. Then he noticed the two dogs behind them and their bloodied fur.

”Sure... but the mutts stay outside.”

”No. They're staying with me. They're well behaved and she loves them. They’re very protective of he-”

”Fine fine whatever just go. I can’t tell if your timing is shit or perfect but they’re getting ready to move down there so hurry up. Head all the way down and then it's a straight shot through the corridor on the left. The dogs are your responsibility. They get lost, killed, stolen, eaten, not my fucking problem. They attack someone, they're as good as dead.” He nodded toward the entrance and waved them through, making sure some of the people walking past them gave the distressed father and his child some room.

It had been only a few minutes since Jin had excused themselves to the restroom when Sonam returned. The woman in the blue scarf immediately went back to speaking with the other groups spread around the chamber and left Nelu with his thoughts. He realized then that for the first time in his life, he was in the pit of the Underground by himself; alone in some strange place he didn’t really belong, surrounded by people not long for this world. Down here, with the sounds of the club little more than a muffled memory separated by thick walls of dirt, he found the large room he was in to be strangely, serenely quiet. Whispers echoed across the empty chamber, drawing his eyes to cracks in the walls and pockmarked pebbles wedged into the dirt. The muted voices from the others floated wordlessly in the air, their conversations gathering in the air above them all, trapped as they all were. Trapped just like him. He found himself pondering what they could possibly be discussing; what conversations these people were having that could possibly be worth having, but as he continued to ruminate on the what and the why, he found himself becoming genuinely curious. Questions bubbled to the surface of his oxygen starved brain. Things he felt like he wasn’t supposed to ask and yearning for knowledge he wasn’t supposed to have.

Things like Sonam. Why was her name so familiar and yet so distant a thing? The two syllables of her name bounced off his tongue as if they had before. Like he’d repeated her name to someone and they’d said it back. It seemed… important, but he couldn’t quite place its importance in the maze that was becoming his mind. He thought he should take a pull of clean air from the oxygen canister she’d provided him earlier, but a part of him disregarded the thought and proffered something more interesting: Sonam was right there. He could simply look at her and confirm if her face and voice and name were indeed familiar to him.

And so he did, but when he turned to find Sonam again, he noticed something odd. Some of the raised platforms in the room where people had been seated were now strangely empty. Sonam too had moved, and as she jumped from group to group, those she spoke to would gather their things and begin filing out of the room through the only door.

"Shit.” He mumbled to himself as he watched another trio exit the chamber. Suddenly his timeline was moved rapidly forward and without his partner present he wasn’t 100% sure on his next move. He hadn’t received any acknowledgement on his proposed plan before Jin had excused themselves so he couldn’t be sure if they had taken the opportunity to leave or if they actually just needed to pee. But even if they did leave, they’d never make it back in time before every Bender in the chamber had already left. He would be forced to go with his original plan and move on Hunang alone. If they hadn’t left, how long did it take for Jin to relieve themselves?

For the briefest moment, his mind began to scrape at the clouded images of his recent memory, pondering nonsensical questions about how much they had drank since entering the Underground and when exactly they last had a bathroom break. How long could he hold his bladder and how practical would it be to install a system that stored his water waste so he could use it to bend in an emergency. Where the hell was Jin? Or Hunang?

Thankfully, his wandering thoughts were cut short by the out-of-place sounds of dogs barking.

Chosah was sat on the cold hard ground only a few yards away from her father and the women he was speaking too. Her Feet and knees were together and her hands were clasped neatly in her lap as if she'd been trained to sit like this. As if the idea 'perfection' was a shape she understood. But while her body projected a sense of ease and normalcy, her gaze betrayed the calm demeanor by remaining eerily fixed on Katakuri. The dark innocence of her eyes studied the expression on his face as it danced to a tune she didn't quite yet understand. A Stern hardness became anger and too quickly did that anger turn to desperation. It was the only time she'd seen him like this. The only time her father's face had shown anything other than the calm she knew him to be. Patient and gentle and warm. That was Katakuri. That was her dad. The man in front of her was none of these things and the words coming out of his mouth were not of the soft voice she recognized.

---

”You don’t understand. They’re not the RSF. They’re not the police! These people are dangerous. They are Benders who train specifically to kill other Benders. Do you get it?”

”It doesn’t matter. Everyone here will be long gone before they tear through my men.”

”That's where you’re failing to understand the situation. You already have two of them in your cam-.”

Hunang gave very little warning. The movement of her feet were sharp and stiff. Quick and precise as if it had been practiced a thousand times over. Her hip shifted ever so slightly to the left and her heel followed, sliding an inch over in the dirt and tearing open the ground beneath Katakuri’s feet. The cavity was just wide enough to drop him down to his chest and the sides of the hole were slanted in such a way that his legs became pinned against each other without his feet ever touching the bottom. His arms too were pinned where they had fallen in front of him as thick rock-like cuffs shaped from the earth wrapped themselves around his wrist, forearm and elbow. He couldn’t move, though unbeknownst to Hunang, he was far from helpless even as he was now.

”Daddy!”

”Stay there, Chosah.“ Katakuri ordered the girl not to move from where she was. Archer and Dutchess straightened up and began to bark but they refused to leave Chosah’s side.

Hunang's eyes fell on the young girl for a moment and then returned to her captured prize. There was a resemblance, that much she was sure of, but more than that, there in his eyes she recognized a very familiar fire. She’d seen it many times in her prolonged life in the Underground. Everyone who had ever tasted desperation had it. The willingness to do whatever it took for a loved one. Honesty used as currency in exchange for their life or another. Katakuri was being honest and he was desperate enough to search her out, but these did little to quell the inferno that was boiling inside her. ”You fucking people,” she spat. ”You think we don’t know about the Lotus?! I- WE have spent years down here picking up the pieces from every rebellion you’ve torn apart. I know very much what you’re all capable of. I know you lurk in the dark. I know what you are, so trust me when I say I understand that when up against a real threat…” Hunang bent down at the waist, bringing her eyes closer to the man she had half buried in the dirt. Even bent over now as she was, Katakuri still had to look up at her. ”...More of you always show up. Do you understand?”

There was a short pause as Katakuri put the pieces together. They’d already been tipped off. All the movement around them was preparation and what they were preparing for wasn’t to simply hold off the LSF while the refugees somehow escaped. They were taking advantage of an opportunity that had landed right in their lap. ”You plan to bury the LSF down here with you.” He shook his head. ”It’s not going to be enough, we have more people.”

Hunang straightened out though so did so awkwardly fast. ”Do you watch a lot of Stickball?”

”Neither of us have all day to go back and forth about this so please get to the point.”

”It’s simple. If you remove the best players, you weaken the team. Your people will not be able to recover fast enough to stop what is coming.”

”Which is?”

”Change.”

”How does that work if you’re dead? You will not survive this.”

”I’m not the only player on my team and these peopl-”

”I do not give a damn about you or your team or the filth in that room you call people. I do not care about change. I only care about giving my daughter a chance to live. If that means I have to burn down Ba Sing Se, then so be it.”

“I am sorry. Everyone. An enemy is on its way. Decide now: run, hide, or prepare yourselves. I will help.
Are there…weapons?”

Erode
"Look 'round you, dumbshit, Plenty o' spears available, eh?”
Exit
A girl vehemently shook her head. ”No. No no. I wouldn’t touch them if I were you,” she warned the concerned angel. ”I don't know if you saw while you were up there but I did... and I just got my arm back.” She wiggled the fingers on her right hand in the air between the both of them. "Never again."

As if everything that had come before wasn't strange already, the girl's situation only continued to decline into insanity. So quickly were things happening now that she'd barely had any time to appreciate the restoration of her arm. One moment, the shaman was waxing poetic, looking upon her and her transformed appendage with pity as the scales across her arm began falling away. The next, fire was falling from the sky hot on the heels of a quickly descending angel and from between her normal-again fingers, she watched another one of their group scamper away for a pile of dead bodies. Her middle and ring finger framed the moment the bald headed woman began slipping herself between a number of tangled corpses. Then, just beyond the protective barrier, she too noticed the man with fire covering half his face snatch one of the fireballs out of the air and deposit it into his head.

...What...?

She flexed her fingers again, happy to have some form of herself, however unfamiliar it still was, returned to her. Unfortunately, everything she was seeing and experiencing was leaving her increasingly more puzzled than before. In the span of a few minutes, all she'd done was exchange one strange phenomenon with another and yet, she was still no closer to figuring out who or what or even where she was. And even worse, out of all the questions she had; out of the plethora of absolutely important queries she might have given to the shaman, the only one that forced it's way to the top was arguably the least important of them all.

”Does that taste good?!” She asked the man with the fire face, raising her voice just so over the growing roar of open flames. She placed her hands above her head as if there wasn't already a protective barrier above her. As if the fireballs tumbling out of the sky weren’t anything more than a late afternoon drizzle.

Who are you?
What do you want to know about me? I am known to be a professional gentleman in the public eyes, but I could tell you who I truly am. First, I will start simple; I am the eldest son of the Soran family, Katakuri Soran. Currently, my position in the company is as the COO of the Soran Enterprise and Financials company, while my father, Mazu Soran, is the CEO.

The main focus of the Soran Enterprise and Financials business is supporting the current economy of Ba Sing Se and brainstorming on how to make it financially better. The stock market and automatic baking are most important to the family, as we specialize in those fields. We are known for supporting the Republic and helping fund the Republic Security Force.

With this information, I am glad to say that I will one day take over this company and improve the security on all levels of Ba Sing Se.

You are still here. I assume you want to know me more personally? Sigh. All business aside, I have been an individual of research my whole life. I crave to know more about this world and how the people could benefit from inside and outside of these walls. Growing up, I would always sit by my mother's houseplants while studying and thinking about the outside. If people could improve from it.

What is your opinion on Benders?
In the days of old, bending was beautiful. In current times, bending would be nothing less than destructive. Think of people parading around with abilities, terrorizing the common public with such power. No matter if you were born and raised in the Undergrounds of this city or the Upper ring, you cannot deny that those powers..., those abilities would be used for malicious intent.
Humans do not need access to those powers. I am glad they are not widespread anymore. I think it is safer if we do not talk about this in a public area, either.

Why are you here?
Early on, my family became aware of my powers, which they made an effort to keep a secret from the public. The Lotus Security Force addressed my family and inquired about what might be done about me when I was seven or eight. At the age of fourteen, my family decided to sign me over to the secretive organization while maintaining a benign demeanor in public.

The superiors who were responsible for watching over me started to notice my swift instincts of fight or flight as soon as training started; I had fighting instincts. I was determined to survive and complete training as quickly as I could. However, training was anything from simple. My parents always warned me before training that if I didn't win, the Lotus Security Force would eliminate me. I'm not sure if this is true, but I wasn't going to let myself become discouraged and lost.

"𝐻𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝓉𝑜𝑜 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓌𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝒾𝓉 𝒸𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓈 𝓉𝑜 𝒸𝓊𝓉𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒹𝑜𝓌𝓃 𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝑜𝓅𝓅𝑜𝓃𝑒𝓃𝓉, 𝒽𝑒 𝒾𝓈𝓃'𝓉 𝒽𝑒𝓈𝒾𝓉𝒶𝓃𝓉..."

"𝐻𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝓁𝒾𝓈𝓉𝑒𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝑜𝓇𝒹𝑒𝓇𝓈, 𝒽𝑒 𝒹𝑜𝑒𝓈𝓃'𝓉 𝒽𝑒𝓈𝒾𝓉𝒶𝓉𝑒, 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒽𝑒 𝒹𝑜𝑒𝓈 𝑒𝓍𝒶𝒸𝓉𝓁𝓎 𝓌𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒽𝑒 𝓃𝑒𝑒𝒹𝓈 𝓉𝑜. "

"𝐻𝑒 𝒾𝓈 𝑒𝓍𝒶𝒸𝓉𝓁𝓎 𝓌𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓌𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉, 𝒾𝓈 𝒾𝓉 𝓃𝑜𝓉?"

To achieve where I am now, I have trained for countless hours. Being pitted against others and forced into circumstances that, given the choice, the majority of individuals wouldn't dare attempt. Only a small percentage of agents who enroll in the Lotus Security Force get through this course and graduate. I was gladly one of them.

A few years ago, I thought about retiring or escaping the Lotus Security Force, but I realized that benders do not belong in the modern age. An incident occurred around this time which cost my fiancée her life and endangered my daughter, Chosah. This was a turning point for why I could not leave the LSF and why I would not leave it.
_____________________________________________________________________

Chosah Soran. 4 years old and belongs to a single father named, Katakuri Soran. She lives up in the Upper Ring at the Soran family residence where she spends most of her time playing simple games with friends and family. She tends to be around her grandparents the most, Mazu and Urose. When her father is not around, Chosah seems to cling to her grandmother, Urose.
Archer & Dutchess. The Soran family have always fancied dogs in their lives, especially as guards. Rumor has it, you will never see Katakuri without Archer and Duchess.

Another rumor is that the Soran family hides behind the official family business. They are not known to be pleasant when you owe them money.

Who are you?
When Jin turned 16, they attempted to shake up the Ba Sing Se masses as a thief known as the Flying Frog. They had a highly successful 6-month run of the Upper Ring, going from nobody to nightmare. But that which flies, must also fall. Having pissed off too many of the wrong people, they were ultimately captured, red-handed, by the RSF. During questioning, the RSF tried to break Jin, and get them to spill about where the stolen items went. After that was unsuccessful, they were grilled about where their thieving gear came from. A grappling hook, goggles, and smoke bombs were items that didn’t one couldn’t buy from a Lower Ring corner store. When Jin said they made the items, and were deemed not to be lying, they were provided a choice.

Spent enough time in prison to equal the cost of items they stole, or join the LSF, a special branch of the military.

Jin chose the military. They knew that people from the Lower Ring went to prison and came out changed forever, with restrictions that would follow them for life. And then there were those who went to prison and never came out. At least the military would give them a chance at a job, even if it was working for the wrong side.

They nearly died in basic training. Despite being in relatively decent shape, they were also very malnourished. Jin manged to survive through expertly swiped food from the mess hall, as well as pure spite.

The second year marked the start of LSF training, and a new course opened for Jin’s life.

Skilled graduates from the RSF, some of them handpicked by the brass, were put through a grueling course meant to turn the blunt hammer of a soldier into the precision instrument of a specialist. Their limits were pushed, broken, and reforged. Starvation, sleep deprivation, extreme environments – nothing was off the table. Many hopefuls died in the attempt.

Jin continued to live. One night, Jin found a book under their pillow. The cover read “Advanced Mathematical Techniques”, with the initials S.L. Jin read a few pages, and a few pages more… they dreamt of numbers. A day after they finished that book, a new one showed up beneath their pillow. In between the harsh training regiment, Jin’s mind started to expand.

Despite a rocky beginning, Jin graduated high in their class, only beaten by one other individual. They were immediately recruited into Captain Dermok’s strike team.

They returned to the Lower Ring to find that most of their ‘friends’ had moved on long ago, besides Lady Cho. Lady Cho assumed Jin had been in prison, and Jin kept up the lie.

What is your opinion on Benders?
I dunno, people who can spit fire, or move wind? One person who keeps coming back to life and can control the core elements of the planet? Sounds too good to be true, don’t it? I don’t really care about ‘em. Sounds like they had it great, being able to do stuff other people can’t just because of bloodlines or whatever. Sounds a whole lot like Upper ring folk to me. Looking down on others just because they got lucky enough to be born special. Good riddance to that shit. The fact is, no one wants ‘em anymore. From what little I remember from school, they weren’t nothin’ but arrogant troublemakers. If I was a Bender – and I damn sure ain’t – I’d keep that to myself.
_____________________________________________________________________
The Flying Frog. In another life, the Flying Frog was a source of frustration for some and inspiration for many more, particular for those living in the Lower Ring. So much did they accomplish in so short a time that they became something of a legend. But just as quickly as they rose, so too did they suddenly disappear. To this day, rumors are are still abound about the why. Everything from a sudden betrayal to their crimes finally catching up to them to the Flying Frog riding off into the sunset somewhere beyond the desert.

A memorial was erected in their absence and their memory lives on as a piece of the culture of the Underground.
Lady Cho. In many ways, Lady Cho is the mother to Jin that they never had. She's raised them since they were young, teaching her every which way to survive in the streets of the Lower Ring and the Underground. Because of this, Jin has spent a lot of time in and around both the Drunken Honeybee and the Zen Stallions, and in this way, the men and women there have become her family... Or were her family.

The Synergy Plant explosion and the changes that swept the city afterwards forever changed that.

”Finally awake huh?” Feyi teased, throwing Reman a wave and a wide grin.
Theyra
Reman smiled, “Yeah, I am awake.” He joked and chuckled to himself.
Exit
”Most of the stuff is already loaded. But we’ve brought out some of the guns we had stashed away. I know most of you are Benders but I wasn’t sure which were comfortable with it and I wanted to make sure everyone was armed. Feel free to take your pick.”
Theyra
“That is good, and I hope there is room for Mova,” Reman motioned to Mova’s case he was holding. “She should be useful if we need her, that is.” Though I think I will stick with my gun for now, and I will remember that if things get dicey.”
Exit
Feyi pulled a rifle off the hood and walked around to the other side of the Jeep before opening the driver door and propping the gun between the front seat and the center console. ”Speaking of Mova,” She began, stepping back around to the hood of the jeep and leaning against it. ”I spoke to Brootus at his shop. He says he could look at the laptop for you and maybe get that thing fixed.”
Theyra
“That would be nice Feyi but I do not know but maybe he can fix it despite the bullet hole in it.”
Exit
Feyi gave him a nod in reply just as Sumire spoke up again. ”Sleep well, Reman?” She asked, holding a hand up to her brow to block the rising sun from her eyes.
Theyra
Turning to Sumire, “Yeah, I did, Sumire, and thanks for asking. My new place here may not be like my old one, but it works for me.” Reman made another smile, "How are you two doing by chance? All ready to go?
vietmyke
See? Reman’s polite. You should learn from him.” Sumire remarked, elbowing Jin again as the girl beamed brightly at Reman.

”I’m here because I’m a bender, not because I’m polite.” Jin replied sarcastically, as he grabbed the pistol and rifle off the hood of the Kyoshi and holstered the two. He offered Feyi a nod in thanks as he patted the heavy pistol on his belt. ”That being said, airbending doesn’t beat lead- at least as far as lethality goes. Fire or earthbending would’ve been cool-” Jin sighed wistfully, as planted his feet and threw out a pair of punches. ”Fire blasts or big rocks definitely brings the hurt more than a bit of air does. You know what’s crazy? I’d heard of stories of people able to bend multiple elements, I can barely wrap my head around one.”
canaryrose
Chu Hua picked up one of the rifles, testing its weight in her hands. Frowning, she put it back and picked up one of the pistols, holstering it as she saw Jin do so, although with a considerably greater amount of care than him. She had lived in the city her whole life- she could throw a good punch, sure, but she had never even used a gun before. … Maybe instead of spending the week doing fuck-all she should have asked Jin for lessons, she thought, but it was a bit late for that. She’d just have to learn as she went. It couldn’t be that hard. Maybe she should’ve taken An’s synergy gun after all.

“You mean the Avatar?” Chu asked, leaning against the truck and crossing her arms, trying to ignore the heft of the pistol in her waistband. “They’re like, some kind of bender god or something. There’s only supposed to be one of them at a time, I think? Some weird shit like that.” She tilted her head then, curious. “I would’ve thought you would’ve had more time to practice out in the desert?”
Theyra
Reman stopped to pause at the mention of the Avatar. ”The Avatar, I have heard of that but, if such as a bender exists then I have one question, where are they I wonder? Reman crossed his arms, Maybe out in the wasteland perhaps since I doubt they would last long back home. Reman took a deep breath and looked at Jin. ”I know airbending may not be as flashy as the others but, you should practice more to get the hang of it. Who knows, maybe you could learn how to fly.” Reman half joking and half not really sure what an airbender is capable of.
vietmyke
”Flying would be pretty cool.” Jin mused aloud. ”Maybe I'll try that next...”

”But I'm afraid of heights!” Sumire protested. Jin cocked his head in confusion and shook his head.

”... What? But… Anyway, as far as bending goes, I spent most of my life trying to pretend I wasn't one, on account of you know, it being illegal and all. Even out in the desert, there's a lot of eyes, not as many as in the city, but they're still out there. Frankly I'm surprised Mire never sold me out.” Jin shrugged. He did a last quick check of his gear, patting down all his pockets and holster as Sumire jumped onto the tips of her toes to tug the zipper on his pack shut. Unlike their firebender, Jin was almost casually coarse with his firearms- guns were durable bits of gear. As long as one wasn't purposely throwing sand or mud into the barrel or breach, anyway.

”Do we know anything about this forest we're heading for?” Jin asked aloud, not necessarily addressing Feyi particularly, but of their group, she'd be in the know more than the rest of them.
Exit
”Trees.” From somewhere behind them all, Tenet approached, pushing past the small gathering with little regard to where the others stood or if they needed to get out of his way. ”Bear.” He said again. His voice was deep and flat and steady as if every word he spoke were a stone he dropped at everyone’s feet. He strode up to the jeep and pulled open the passenger door before dropping a duffle bag in the footwell.

Behind him, a much smaller, more agile looking man followed. He was thin but fit with short black hair and brown eyes and light brown skin that seemed scorched under the desert sun. He wore a weathered green jacket with a white shirt underneath and khakis, although his pants looked as though they’d been strapped to his legs by way of numerous thin fabric wraps. His boots too were tied down. It was as if he were afraid his lower half would undress itself and his clothes would run off without him. Besides the peculiarities of what the man wore, he also had on him a rifle slung over his shoulder and a sword in its scabbard hanging off his hip.

”What the big man here is trying to say is, this forest is dangerous because the animals.” He walked up to Jin and Sumire, throwing one a smile and wink and holding an outstretched hand to the other. ”Although, I hear you Piperunner types know a thing or two about hunting. Makes me glad you decided to come. Name’s Takoa.”
