When Frida healed Damien's fingertips, he retracted his hand from her. At the same time, Lucy croaked loudly to alert Damien. He scowled at the woman and her hypocrisy.

"You give me shit for being a werewolf and you're a fucking witch!"

"Mr. Crawford! You will refrain from swearing in the house of the lord! And you make accusations towards a holy woman has given everything to our God?!" Despite raising his voice, Xavier's seemed to remain composed. Damien glared into the woman's eyes who stood firmly, holding her crucifix close to her chest. "This is truly disgusting Mr. Crawford…" Xavier drew a pistol with a silenced tucked and concealed at his breast before shooting Frida in the back of the head.

Damien recoiled backward as the woman fell to the ground with a thud that echoed through the church. Damien looked at Xavier in shock as the man then stepped over the woman's corpse and shot her several times in the torso.

"Truly disgusting. A practicing witch here in my church. In my church. An abomination was sent to my church. A test maybe… Yes, a test. God was testing me, Mr. Crawford. He was seeing if I would buckle when faced with a demon that took the form of a young woman of God… No! Not of god… She was a devil through and through. You and I recognized the snake in our midst. For we hunt them without mercy or hesitation. Only with conviction and faith in God. No place is safe for these abominations, not even in the aisle of these holy grounds. Amen." Xavier's eyes met Damien's as he waited for the young man to reply. Damien gulped.

"Amen… Um… You need help cleaning this up."

"Not at all. You may take your leave, Mr. Crawford. I look forward to working with you in order to purify Ember Grove of all of its wickedness. God bless you this night."

And Damien got the fuck out of there!

Skar had arrived at her destination, sloppily docking the wooden boat by paddling close and jumping onto the dock. The boat was kicked away and floated off on its own. She landed with a brief stubble, but caught her footing. Skar looked toward the dark elf civilians giving her odd looks, while guards took caution. Though she was armed, she was alone and not letting out a warcry of madness. The guards would keep close watch of her for now. Well at least until she moved to approach them.

Skar walked casually towards the guards and stopped a few feet away before addressing them.

"Slave market. Skar will purchase slaves. Where is it?" The senior of the two Azmor City guards chuckled.

"Can you even comprehend directions?" The elf asked with a smug smile. "I don't want to be the blame for an orc vagrant within our city."

Skar scowled at the dark elf and took a step forward. Both dark elves gripped the pommels of their swords. Skar was ready to take on both guards, but refrained as she thought of what she was setting out to do. She thought of home.

A much younger Skar sat on the ground outside of her family's large hut sharpening the head of the first weapon she had learned to use, a spear. The natural sounds of the thriving oasis were drowned out by the beating of drums, the clanking of metal, and the occasional roar from an impassioned orc. A large male orc stepped out from her family hut. He wore leather armor that left the right side of his chest exposed showing scars indicating the numerous failed attempts at his life. On his face were more scars with sharp bone pierced into the bridge of his nose.

"Skarsnaga! Today we raid goblins! You come. You watch kill then you do kill!" Skar's father, Grum, a towering 10-foot orc almost bellowed to the child who initially replied with just a fierce stare.

"See kill! Do kill!!" Skar's father pat her on her head, proud of the daughter he was raising. He was sure she would become a fierce warrior within the clan and someday produce warriors of her own. Skar had never witnessed her father smile in her childhood. It wouldn't be until her young adulthood that she would see such an expression.

Her mother, Reshna stepped out next, her leather armor understandably covered her entire torso, but she also lacked any visible scars. She peered down at her daughter and let a brief smile form on her face. She resembled how Skar would look in years to come, minus the length of her hair. Reshna's hair was braided into thick cornrows that stopped at her shoulders.

"Skarsnaga, you follow me." Reshna stated. Grum turned to his wife with a scowl.

"You? I am head of home!" Grum snarled. Reshna didn't flinch and instead took a step closer to her husband. Her scowl would make one question whether her previous smile was possible.

"Grum. You are head of home. Not in battlefield. Not in raid. Reshna is head of combat! I show Skar to be head in combat, not head of home like you!" Reshna's scowl did not soften, giving Grum no choice but to back down from his wife. He grunted and walked off towards where many of the other members of the clan were headed to arm themselves. Skar stared up at her mother who nodded for her to move forward. "Skarsnaga. You will be strong orc. In combat. In life. Orc with most scars is not always strongest orc… Your father forget this"

Present

"Skar know where she puts blade to kill dark elf... but Skar want direction to slave market. I have amas." Skar shook the hefty pouch tied at her waist.

Darius was surprised at Artemis' reaction as he expected to have a bit of a playful water fight. Oops! He thought as the woman appeared to tremble at the sight of him. When Artemis asked about his presence on Daka, Darius raised an eyebrow.

"Daka Island is where I need to be right now… And we stay at Aklenroth's castle." Darius informed. Artemis seemed wary about going with Darius and Myra, but she would be in much more danger being left in this lake.

After a bit of conversation, the trio headed back to the amora with Darius carrying Artemis of course. He learned that she could change her tail into legs, but they were very weak and she was out of practice when it came to walking. Darius didn't mind her minor handicap. He could teach Myra to talk and Artemis to walk between what Kol described as vigorous training. Speaking of Kol, he had spent Darius' amas on a dragon egg incubator and something he called flarus, a "performance enhancer" of sorts. He also mentioned a ball Darius could attend in the coming days in order to find humans… real humans.

Upon arriving back at the castle, Darius allowed Myra and Artemis to keep each other company as Kol wanted Darius to not have any "distractions" and conduct their training in one of the darker parts of the castle. The incubator was placed elsewhere and was not to be concerned with, but Darius was still very hyped up about it. The only thing more exciting was the prospect of training with Kol. The two stood amongst the dilapidated ruins beyond the bridge to the main portion of the castle. Darius was wearing the black leather armor Skar had purchased, eager to start as he stood beside Kol.

"I get to finally train my magic. I'll be-"

"No."

"No?" Darius was a bit perplexed by Kol's quick response.

"Human. You have no experience in the use of weapons or even combat. You may have better fitness than I initially assumed, but you are nowhere close to where you need to be. Making you a mage and just training your elemental magic is the easiest path, but it would not-" This time Kol was cut off

"Let's just do things your way then. We don't have a lot of time, so just tell me what I need to do… I'll do it and judge the results later." Darius said seriously which made Kol silently nod. It was time to train.

Damien's cold expression soften a bit as Frida spoke, but into bored tired look. Just say "I don't believe you, so I'm going to keep a close eye on you until I do" lady.

"If your test of faith means spending your night with me then I welcome it." Damien grinned and bounced his eyebrows like the Cassanova he clearly wasn't. Despite his words, he didn't really want that… anymore. Damien was just hoping he could bother the woman enough to leave out of disgust for him.

When she spoke of Lucy as a bird, Damien looked at the familiar with his devilish grin. Lucy croaked and turned away from the woman and her comments on her.

"She's always been there for me. Like a big sister of sorts." When offered coffee, Damien frowned. "No thank you. I like my… Finally." Damien interrupted himself as he heard the faint footsteps followed by the appearance of Father Xavier, leader of Ember Grove's Holy Saviors.

With a kind smile on his face as he saw both of his requests for aid standing in his church, together.

"God gives me so many blessings. Sister Frida and Mr. Crawford. My means to either save or damn those who conspire and bed with Satan." Xavier looked back and forth between the two and stopped at Damien. He was easier in Xavier's eyes. Simple. "Nice to finally meet the man I've heard so much about. Coven after coven across this country wiped out like as if pestilence himself struck them!"

"That's just too much praise for a guy like me." Damien chuckled, as he stepped forward. Like you need to cut down on the talking. I'm trying to not spend my whole night at a church. "I actually have my eyes on two covens. I just need time, and I can hit them hard and fast. The only thing I ask of you is to allow me to work independently. I can't infiltrate a coven if I'm seen going to church to report every move I make."

"I want to see the same results I heard of from Atlanta. If you require independence to do so, I will place my faith in this." Damien nodded at Xavier who continued to smile kindly. Xavier then turned to Sister Frida. "Sister Frida the Hand of God Church is grateful in receiving you and your reputation for saving those possessed by Satan's spawn."

Darius could only be confused by the nondisclosure from Artemis and the nonverbal direction from Myra regarding the lake. Despite his unsureness, Darius let the woman down and turned around as requested. At that moment he remembered the first time he tried to bathe himself in Avalia and then imagined it being so much colder for Artemis.

It was not enough to imagine as he felt the water himself. Feeling a splash of water hit his backside. The cold made him flinch before he turned around to see…

"What the fuck…" Darius stared at the laughing Artemis WHO WAS REALLY A MERMAID in disbelief.

”So, human huh?”

”Does Earth have anyone like me?”

Darius just stared, not responding as he thought about what he was seeing. This woman isn't a human… Disappointment set in and for a second it was visible on his face. He managed a smile as he didn't want to take away from the happiness the woman now felt.

"You sure it doesn't bother you?" Darius smirked as he thrust his hand to shoot a stream of water from it and into the lake, close enough to splash Artemis back.

Sean raised an eyebrow at Angel's descriptions for the suspicious pair she had seen.

"A girl with an older dude, yes, but those descriptions don't add up. The old guy had a lot of gray if you get what I mean, and the girl was far from being in gothic clothing." Sean thought it possible that the pair she saw entered the club before his arrival. He was aware that Angel was too eager and the wild child of the squad, but she wasn't an idiot.

And here it comes.

Nikolaus and Angel were like two peas from completely different pods that managed to roll up right up next to each other on a carnivore dieter's dinner plate. Sean found their banter to be amusing at times, but could only take it in small doses. It was always Angel being hardy and confident clashing with Nikolaus' seriousness and wanting to help. Sean knew Angel was embellishing her story but listened silently with an amused smile.

"Really?" Sean wanted to poke at Nikolaus a bit as well as he entertained Angel's story. "You're right Niko. The important thing is that they're gone… Oh and there's no fucking way I'm stepping foot in that club. Even with Mister and Misses Frankenstein at my side…" Sean shook his head before he noticed that it wasn't his quick retort that stopped Niko mid-sentence. The hunter had spotted someone exiting the club. The sugar daddy…

"That's the old guy I was talking about. His girlfriend is definitely not human, but I'm not sure about him…" Sean informed before taking the initiative of addressing the man across from them. He jogged across the road and stopped just before he could reach the sidewalk. "Hey sir, is everything alright with you? I can call you an ambulance if you want. Your friend know you're out here?" Sean played concerned, but he was remaining both alert and observant. Why did you come out this way? Something drive you out? Physically, you look fine, but you're clearly shaken up by something.

Since departing from the scorched home, Umber had occupied his time searching for a particular someone on his own. The name had not meant much to him when the fox child addressed him as it. It was simply a lead to follow, and the demon had the time. He had roamed Roshmi long enough that he was sure word of his presence filled whispers and murmurs of the fearful and confused. The sureness came from what he felt in the city. The various and random emotions he picked up were beginning to focus even if it was just a bit.

Fear… Hate… Worry… Confusion… Delicious! Umber floated towards the Roshmi City docks while groups of civilians tried their best to keep out of the path of his large floating body. Word was spreading about a monster that floated through the streets, grabbing citizens at random and "questioning" them. Umber landed softly in front of an establishment that fell between a waterfront residential district and the docks themselves. Beside the building was a warehouse filled with workers trying to earn a bit of amas for their physical labor. The owner of this warehouse sat comfortably behind a desk inside the smaller building. Surefire Shipping…

The door swung open and the demon entered, his eyes immediately locking on the light elven lord seated with a shocked expression on his face. A snicker escaped Umber.

"Relax yourself Lord Norkas… Afterall, Lady Tsarra Urmicca sent me all the way here to see you about doing some work. Allow me to show you what I can do."

Shit! Damien retracted his hand and gave it a quick shake after his finger touched the crucifix. The silver burned like scalding hot pot and he just touched it without thinking. His mind raced for an excuse for his reaction, but her narrowed eyes told him there was nothing he could say.

He took a step back as he lowered the hand that had been burned. While staring into the now fierce expression of the nun. Damien remained silent as he tried to get a grasp on the situation.

"What?" Damien's eyes shifted towards Lucy for a moment. The bird simply watched in silence. She's a nun that knows what I am, with a silver cross, but she's here in this church? His confused expression suddenly morphed into a cold stare. "I told you why I'm here. And I guess Xavier didn't keep you in the loop of things... or you're new here." Damien said before Lucy croaked. "Or you're not even a Holy Savior judging by your reaction to my… condition." Damien was grateful for Lucy.

Glowing red eyes would probably suit a guy like me though. Damien's thoughts were still on the Alpha status of werewolves when he noticed a figure subtly enter the church. At first, he didn't pay her much attention and possibly might have left her alone, but she approached him.

A warm smile formed on his face as his eyes met the woman's. He normally tried to avoid idle chatter with Holy Saviors and members of the church in general, but tonight he considered himself to be a bit of a ladies man. Sure, the woman was a nun, but it made things all the more exciting.

"Neither, but thank you sister. I am here to speak to Xavier though." Damien looked over his shoulder in the direction where the offices were located. "Actually…" Damien walked forward to close the gap between himself and the woman. "What brings such a young and beautiful woman to the church at this time of night? You should be home already..." Damien reached to touch the crucifix. "Sometimes there are circumstances where even God can't save you." Damien spoke gently. Meeting Xavier could wait, Damien was already enjoying the company of this one.

"A delight?" Darius wondered why the woman found his excitement amusing. Perhaps he was coming off comically overjoyed. He didn't give it too much thought and just shrugged. Darius could see his reaction being quite humorous in the eyes of someone else. His smile faded however when he watched Artemis stand on her shaky and shiny legs. The scaly patterns over them sparkled as the light coming through the trees hit them. Those are some fancy leggings. The scales nearly distracted him from Artemis' attempt at walking. She was trying to head towards the direction she pointed to. "Hey the amora is back-" Darius' gasped at Artemis' sudden fall into the cold grass.

Darius didn't think about moving to Artemis' side, he just did it. He wasn't sure what was wrong with her, but she needed to get to the body of water beyond the trees ahead. Darius could see Artemis wasn't just begging to go, she was fighting to. Her breaths were strained, her body trembled, but Darius had her.

"Artemis… I got you." Darius said as he got in front of her and lifted her up before cradling her in his arms. He gave Artemis a friendly smile before making his way towards the lake. "I got you." Darius repeated to assure the woman. When the trio reached the lake, Darius took a step by the edge of the shore. "So you want to take a dip in here? Do you know how cold this shit is!?" Darius looked at Artemis, perplexed.
