GM event post is done, so once I get CS's approved we can get this dog and pony show on the road.

Remember that this is a broadcast/event that all characters should probably be aware of. Whether you reflect on it is up to you, but I would love you forever if you acknowledged it.
I'm trying to figure out his history in accordance to the timeline to ensure that everything pan's out. As a question how old would you figure he would be?

He was probably in his mid-twenties or early-thirties in the 80s if I had to guess. But that's speculation based on the timeline.

Yo! Cheers for the invite! Shall have to think about this as I already have a number of characters over in ASM and I'm currently a bit behind there, as well as in another RP (I'm currently in the process of catching up and whatnot though!).

One character i did have in mind was Killer Moth, who would essentially disappear from Gotham after some embarassing defeat from Batman, only to return a few years later after having travelled the world is a very similar manner to Bruce, training. In a similar way as to how Catman turned from being a major joke into a badass! However I saw that he's going to be an upcoming rogue for Batman in your CS Gowi?

Yeah, I sort of originally designed him (and Danko, his not-alfred) as a upper class thief with a moth motif. He and Robin get into a tough fight before Moth escapes, which is when Bette Kane truly falls in love with Robin (Moth was robbing the Kane's). There's more to it than that, but thats the cliffnotes version.
Oh fine I'll play Cap too.

Yay!

Though, my only hesistance with Babs is the killing joke and how that would unravel in an RP. People tend to have big dividers over which Babs they prefer and I'm no different. I mean, I like Oracle, but I connect with Babs' Batgirl...but, assuming I'm allowed to go for her in the future, we shall see what happens.

If you want my opinion, I’m partial to Batgirl Barbara. Whilst her run as Oracle was excellent, The Killing Joke was supposed to be a non-canon comic event originally and I have a lot of hang-up’s how they used her as a plot device and shock value rather than approached it as a interesting character thing. This is of course just my opinion, but I find that Barbara is plenty interesting and dynamic without The Killing Joke. DCAU made her brilliant without resorting to those lengths. Barbara Gordon is actually probably in my top 20 DC characters and for good reason. :F

But yay fresh.

Plus it'd be too early for Oracle so NYAH.
I have to say I'm interested...debating Charles Xavier any thoughts

I'd have to see what you got before anything else. There's a few X-events in the timeline but nothing too much.

March 19th, 2005

National Television, United States (6:00 PM)

“This transmission was transmitted through the internet several hours ago, and I warn you that the following recording is not for the faint of heart. If you have any children watching, I suggest you take them out of the room now.” The voice of GCN broadcaster Victoria Vale was clear as the red-haired journalist and reporter waved her hand as the picture fluttered from the broadcast to that of a pre-recorded video.

The boldness of the crimson logo burned through the television screen as the news network began to play the feed that had been received only hours before. The symbol was an old and tired one that was one remembered in the memory of the 20th century and it’s history. It was a symbol that had not been seen since 1978 on the shores of Madripoor. It was a symbol that had represented the pure darkness that engulfed Germany during the Second World War. It was a symbol that forced the Soviets, French, Brits, Chinese, and Americans to work together through the UNCLE initiative during the Cold War.

It was the symbol of pure terror. The symbol of HYDRA.

“Your world governments are weak— allowing the presence of inferior beings to walk among you, allowing these aliens and mutants to dirty your lands and ideals. Those who resist are blatantly pathetic as they are seen being routed by children and fools insulting the vitality of the human race. Your president cowers behind his desk as he focuses on a useless plot of sand rather than focus on the true enemy. What will it take for your pitiful leaders to take action?” The voice was angry, full of bitterness and abhorrence. The hateful mentions of superheroism, the mutant condition, and the national government's diplomacy towards both issues. The accent was distinctly German but it was also distorted by the recording.

“But that is okay, for it is we who return order to the world and be the true purifiers of such blatant weakness and filth.”

“We are HYDRA.” The figure of a shrouded man walked in front of the ebony and crimson logo and rose his head— revealing a face drenched in blood red with a scowl that ripped through the screen. The appearance of the man had only been seen in films depicting Captain America’s battle against HYDRA in the past… a face of evil incarnate that brought more fear than the logo could ever do. The face of the Red Skull.

“Before you scream for your old protectors of our banner let me tell you this: SHIELD is nothing, SHIELD is dead. HYDRA has taken your precious Belle Reve and your weak director from you, and there is nothing you can do.”

“Know this though; this is only the beginning.”

The scowl turned into an arrogant smirk.

“You will try to stop us, but you can not defeat us. We are HYDRA, for if one head is removed two more will rise in its place. The return of the Red Skull and the reign of HYDRA is inevitable. You will see when I descend upon you.”

“Heil HYDRA.”

Nah, I think he would've been exactly that dumb. And no block, if he was that dumb.

Solved it. ^_^

Again, if he was that dumb it would be contradictory to Batman’s formative years and the way I set up the crime families. So I don’t see it being able to work. Give me a few hours and I'll try to think of a way to make it work, I WANT to be cooperative with what YOU want to do. As a GM it's my responsibility to TRY.

Oi. You would do this to me.

I wrote a Matt Murdock that wasn't blind for two thirds of my run over on the Hype that was passably believable. What are a few legs compared to that?

Yes you did. Heh.
<Snipped quote by Gowi>

And if her father violated that order for his family's gain? Same result, I'd have to imagine.

Then it would’ve violated the entire peace agreement of the crime families and caused infighting all over the board before Batman even got to work which would be counter-intuitive to Batman's Year Zero and Year One. Besides even if you play out that Franco was a shifty mobster he would’ve been smart enough to not ruin a ceasefire that was good for business. I’m trying to think of a way that would work feasibly but I’m running into blocks.
Easy. The Bertinelli massacre doesn't have to be tied to Bruce/Batman, and never really was? I'd just have it happen earlier, maybe shortly after Bruce's own tragedy. Could argue once the Waynes are killed, dominoes start to fall all over Gotham. The rest depends on what's left of the Mob at this point in the game.

See that’d add a few inconsistencies and plotholes to how I setup the Gotham Crime Families. Until Batman takes out Falcone in 2001 there was a “order” in place and all of the families left each other alone. After Falcone’s incarceration the dominoes fall and Maroni, Mandragora, Valestra, etc. all sort of scramble between infighting and Batman’s war on crime. So realistically by that point it would need to be 2002 when the Bertinelli’s get whacked if we went that route.

I mean a lot can happen in 3-4 years, sure, and I hate putting that box around things but the Gotham Crime setup is very important to my Batman stories and development.

I was in an explorative mood. I've never written a differently abled character before and it occurred to me that they are criminally underrepresented and in those instances in which they are present are overwhelmingly male. I thought it would be an interesting challenge to write a female character that has dealt with (and continues to deal with) being differently abled because it's something that's not often explored. The impact it has on how a woman sees herself and her femininity in light of that are all pretty interesting. At least I think so.

If you'd prefer I could make it Mar-Vell that crashed to Earth as Eddie did, as opposed to Abin Sur, because I can't imagine I'll touch on the Captain Marvel side of things much elsewhere.

Personally I’m for making characters something radically that they weren’t (this is why I argued with Drew when he wanted to take Blade’s ethnicity away and make him white) though it wouldn’t be fair to enforce my personal misgivings on everyone else. I would trust you to make an interest story out of it, even though I prefer my Carol with legs and all of the uber-Marvel connections and references.

Curious if Carol was in the runnings to join SHIELD’s Blackhawks before her accident in your version. Hm.
