@Guardian Angel Haruki Voth has proficiency with playing cards. What stat would be rolled to go alongside that proficiency? I could see charisma, but is it more important to have a good poker face, or to be able to read other people's poker face?

Also, Voth has a deck of playing cards. I would like to state for the record now that they are marked in a manner he is familiar with, as he has owned them for a long time, but he himself did not actually put on the cards.

It depends on what Voth wants to do with the playing cards...

If Voth wants to understand the rules of a card game, calculate odds, or spot a cheater, that would be an Intelligence check.

If Voth wants to bluff, intimidate, influence a player, or keep a poker face during a game, that would be a Charisma check.

If Voth wants to cheat in a card game by swapping cards or hiding them, that would be a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check.

Marked cards would help Voth with identifying cards and thus identifying if someone is cheating, or if someone is keeping a poker face.

However, marked cards do count as cheating before a game. So, for having your cards marked, I would like a retroactive Sleight of Hand check with your playing cards proficiency to see how discreet those marks are.

@Guardian Angel Haruki That's an 8 on arcana. Voth has vague suspicions that those people might be magic... Maybe. Perhaps some strange fey hallucination brought on by smelling owlbear farts. Shouldn't have given it all that lean protein...

Nibs' Cave

Nibs looks in Jub’s direction as the goblin spoke. After the offer to assist him was made, Nibs lets out a sob as tears soak his blindfold. He answers Jub, “That is very kind of you, Sir. But, I am afraid I don’t know, and I shudder at the consequences of shunning this curse and losing what hope I have for atonement,”

He then has a look of realization, and he begins knitting the gold threads again. He tells Jub, “Oh! Here…let me make you something in return for your kindness and in hospitality…”

He knits quietly and quickly, but what he makes isn’t any form of clothing this time. No…this time, the threads seem to harden and become a wand with a golden sheen! Jub can even see stars carved into the handle, decorated after his attire.

Once the wand was completed, he hands it to Jub, “Here you are, Sir,”

@Guardian Angel Haruki Detect evil and good includes undead. So that means the shadow figures aren't ghost, shadows, or other forms of undead, correct? They're not actually, physically there?

Nibs' Cave

Nibs gives a shaky, but grateful smile when Aurora accepts the boots with praise. However the smile disappears with a noticeable wince, even through the blindfold. His expression is back to the normal fearful, miserable state.

Passive Perception 12

You see the cause of Nibs's pained wince. There is a shadowy apparition of a grubby child jabbing at him and peering over his shoulder. Then, you see more of them...!

A gaunt coachman lingers in the back of the cave. A long-faced woman dabs her face with a handkerchief. A rail-thin waif moves quickly about the cave, poking and jabbing at Nibs.

But most importantly to Gabriel, is a familiar figure of a woman...gently holding an empty baby blanket in her arms. Somehow...recognition washes over him! That silhouette is that of his mother...!

All of their features are hidden in shadow, with only their eyes alight in white.

Nibs looks to Aurora when she asks about his origins, and he answers her shakily, "Oh. No...I'm from Toril. Waterdeep, to be specific..."

When Jub speaks to Brutrumukk, Nibs quickly turns his head towards the two, judging from where he heard them, and he confirms Jub's words, "You are right, young man. The coins are cursed. If you take the coins, you'll be cursed too. So, please...don't. I'd hate to see anyone else suffer my fate,"

Eleanor

As Annie asked her why and gave her reasoning, along with the awful things that Annie clearly endured, Eleanor's eyes widened with concern for the poor girl. She raised her hands up in a prayer like motion as she takes a deep inhale to calm herself down.

"Heavens to Betsy! What kind of life has Annie gone through?!"

Eleanor was at a loss of words for a good moment, but she soon decided on a course of action. This decision is based on the fact that her heart went out to this poor girl,

"She needs to know. She needs to know what she's in right now, before Mortimer gives any sort of final deal before this ritualized killing spree begins,"

She sighs, and clasps her hands on Annie's shoulders, with a sad expression on her face. She shakes her head before leaning in and speaking lowly, in hopes that Mortimer doesn't eavesdrop.

"It's going to be worse than that. The people in the masks are going to hunt us, the 'prey', for sport. Not to capture us; To kill us. The chances of the prey in this game surviving and winning are slim to none. That's why I'm apologizing: You were taken from your life...all for the sake of their desensitized personal gain and bloodlust,"

She leans away and waits for Annie's reaction.
