If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Would you mind if I pass on posting this round? I want to wait until the ship's are adjacent and the SF team has completed their spike of the Majestic's computers before we do anything.
Joseph Mingan is a Skinwalker, but none of your characters know that. It is a deeply held secret to Joseph. He is very quiet about it. If you would like to have any exchanges or prior knowledge between your character and mine, please post your CS in the Character's tab first, so I can read it, then send me a PM with your idea and we can talk about it. This is not something he openly shares with others.
Appearance Joseph is tall and gaunt; appearing to be starving and/or ravaged by illness. His skin, pulled tightly in some places, loosely in others over stretched sinews held together by a revealed or protruding skeletal structures. High cheekbones and drawn in cheeks accentuate his emaciated appearance. Joseph's long grayish-black hair is occasionally pulled back into a neat braided ponytail while often disheveled and wild in appearance. His dark brown eyes appear hypnotic to peer into. It is advised not to look him in the eye.
He dresses in the buckskin attire of traditional Navajo people, but occasionally wears white man clothing; a buttoned shirt or distressed cotton trousers and camel colored small flat brim round hat. He prefers moccasins to boots. He will rarely wear animal furs, but does carry an old bearskin coat for winter. He has a few artistically woven multi-colored blankets to keep him warm during inclement weather.
On certain nights, Joseph will paint a two-inch wide black band across his eyes from hair line to hair line and a multitude of small red and white dots scattered across the lower half of his face with his lips colored black.
Occupation Formerly, a medicine man, but as of recent, employed as a Livery hand and Ferrier at Morgan's Livery Yard in Job, Nevada.
Personality Joseph appears reticent and detached from others. He prefers to remain alone, avoiding contact with others as much as possible. He enjoys working with animals; making him a natural livery hand and Ferrier. Joseph avoids eye contact. When cornered, Joseph will attack.
History Joseph was born to the Navajo people and named, Kaneonuskatew, which translates to One who walks on four claws. He was destined to serve as a Medicine man due to an unquenchable curiosity about all things in nature. He watched the tribe's medicine man work on those people afflicted with illnesses and learned the way quickly. He helped to save family and friends in his tribe from pain and misery.
As a young adult, Joseph became known as Chevayo, Spirit Warrior as he learned to fight against evil spirits. He learned that his soul was imbued with special magical abilities. Most of his abilities were of the healing nature and helped him to cure people of their afflictions. He could wipe out a fever with the laying of his hands or use herbs, salves and powders to fight off a plague. He became quite a talented medicine man in his tribe; using natural remedies to help perform his magic.
In the midst of a bitter cold winter, during Joseph's 37th season, a troop of white men raided his village killing many of his people including his aged mother and father. Joseph grew bitter, hating the white man. He sought revenge. This hatred fueled Joseph to learn more; a way of fighting back. He discovered an old man living amongst his people who told him about a darker side of being a medicine man.
He would have to disavow the art of healing, literally turn his back on the people and learn how to serves as a harbinger of death. This was a foreboding time for Joseph Mingan and the more he learned, the more he felt compelled to continue; losing any ability to turn from this path.
By his 43rd season, Joseph was known as Mingan Grey Wolf when his all consuming anger and thirst for the dark arts of a medicine man drew him in completely. The final act that solidified his place in the world was the killing of his brother. This act defined him as a yee nahgloshii and commenced his sojourn on the path as a Skinwalker.
Joseph has traveled the mountains in search of his destiny. He avoided living with others for many years until he learned to control the demon that has taken over his life. He has acquired the ability to transform into any animal of his choosing. Joseph prefers the wolf form, but can be seen as coyote, fox, eagle, owl or crow and is not someone to be trusted. Even in bipedal human form he can run as fast as a deer or a wolf. He can fight with the ferocity of a bear. He has adopted the special traits of the animals he changes into. He conceals his supernatural ways by using them only during hours of darkness. He has never transformed during daylight hours, remaining at the livery. It is not a nightly event to change form, but only when the hunger rises up inside and the need to feed drives him mad. He is truly a lost and darkened soul; empty of all happy emotion.
Joseph can control his metamorphosis, but the hunger, forces him to kill. The victim must be a human. He thirsts for the taste of human blood much like a vampire. His heart yearns for the freedom of the night and may be prone to howl at the moon like the werewolf. The longest he has gone without a change is three months. This experience left him badly weakened enduring a feeding frenzy lasting for six nights.
Five years ago, Joseph Mingan found his way to Job, Nevada. He left his tribe after becoming a Skinwalker. He spent two years with a Paiute tribe in Western Utah, but left them after killing a set of twin babies. He made sure to save their finger and skull bones to grind into powder. The powder is known as Corpse Powder.
Corpse powder or corpse poison is a substance made from powdered corpses. The powder is used to curse a victim. The effect is a curse and disease, usually indicated by an immediate action to administration of the poison, like fainting, swelling of the tongue, or lockjaw. Sometimes, however, the victims simply wastes away, as from a normal disease.
In these past ten years, Joseph has learned to use his eyes to hypnotize a victim into becoming compliant to his ways and desires. They become his minion or pet and will serve his wishes. Joseph must curse the victim with his corpse powder and then the victim will die away slowly once Mingan is done with the victim.
The latest skill Joseph Mingan is learning to command is the ability to change his appearance to look like another person. It has been a difficult challenge to take on, but he is up to the challenge and works on it on various evening hours when he is alone.
When Joseph Mingan arrived in Job, Nevada he quickly found employment with Morgan's Livery Yard. He has known how to take care of horses for many years, but learned to shoe and care for their hooves the way white men do only in the past five years. He has gotten quite good at it. Although, he does not interface with customers, he does care for the animals and helps Charles Morgan when needed. It is a job, Joseph enjoys performing.
Mystery and Hand
Personal cards- 1 Hand- 2 Mysteries- The Case of the Bovine Butcher- Main Mystery (Current)
If you read the SSIC, please read this...
Note: To all who read the contents of the SSIC, just because you, as an author know something about Joseph Mingan, it does not mean your character knows anything. All your character knows, is that he is the quiet frail old Indian who works at the Livery Yard, tending to the horses. Using your knowledge about his "secret" in character can be interpreted as Metagaming. This is a Role Play violation and is frowned upon. It is a quick way to chase me out of the story.
Metagaming is when a player applies OOC-retrieved information to their IC character, such as participating in a war that you only saw was stated to be happening on a clan's thread on the forums, or hearing whispering because you saw the text, and knowing a character's name because you saw their username. This is the most commonly broken rule of role-play and most infuriating for many.
Merlin, Can you tell me more about "Mystery and Hand"? I read what you wrote about the Tarot card. This is an intriguing aspect of the Role Play. I even looked up the meaning of the cards on a tarot card website. I don't know what to enter in this spot on the Character Sheet. When I read the meanings of the cards, the "Five of Cups" came closest to my character's personality of where his mind is at, right now. Should I look for a card like this?
@Themerlinhawk This may seem silly, but what is a Cat House? I have an idea, but I'd like to know
A cat house is a Bordello, a house of ill repute or a whore house. It is a place for "Johns" to go and have sex with a prostitute. A Madame runs the "Cat House"
I will create a character for your RP, Themerlinhawk. He will be a native magic user, probably a healer with some connection to wolves, but not necessarily a werewolf. Maybe just a changeling of sorts; like an animagus in Harry Potter or a Shaman in some in Fantasy adventure games. On another note, I may attempt to use the word, "Teep" in character. ;)
@Sep Could you add Lieutenant Percival "Percy" Lomax as the Platoon Commander and Sergeant Jett Duron as the First Section Leader to the Sapper Platoon?
Commandant’s Quarters A debris strewn field, tall grasses blowing in the wind concealing death and destruction. Majestic Mountains rose in the distance, beckoning him. Smoke curled skyward along several points on the horizon as well as in the debris strewn field, calling the thin infantry commander forward. Victor Tavik walked disoriented and confused through the field. A slow fog rolled low over the field covering much of the debris, allowing his visibility to remain over the cloud. The smell of burnt cordite, thermite and death wafted in the air and into his nostrils.
After what seemed like hours of walking, Rancor Company’s Infantry Commander came upon Captain Kruger wearing his formal military uniform seated at a table in the middle of the field. A tea set was placed and the Executive Officer sipped a cup while reading a newspaper. It was a periodical that can be found on any datapad from Alderaan. It did not strike Victor Tavik as odd that the man would be reading newsprint instead of articles in digital form. The Captain looked up as his commander approached, “Victor!” the man spoke with an affable smile. “Please, won’t you join me?”
Victor Tavik looked confused. Lorne Kruger never called him by his first name. But the scene was completely foreign to him. He felt compelled to pull out a chair and have a seat. Captain Kruger stood and began pouring before and during asking, “would you like a cup of tea, sir?”
Victor felt unable to say no. He nodded in compliance raised the cup to take a sip, but stopped with the cup inches from his lips. His eyes caught something peculiar. Glancing into the liquid as it neared his mouth, he spied something causing revulsion. His expression turned to that of sudden horror as he noticed the presence of a human eyeball, recently detached from its retina settled at the bottom of clear liquid in his tea cup.
Victor looked up at his friend, “Lorne!” The newspaper outstretched in his two hands concealing the Captain, who now lowered his newspaper in response to Victor’s exclamation. The Commandant looked at the man, now missing both eyes. Bloody black sockets trailed thick oozing blood streaming down his face, over his cheeks, dripping off his jawline and collecting across the table. The man collapsed face first across the table then slumping to the ground. Victor jumped upon hearing explosions, disturbing the otherwise peaceful setting. The disruptive noise distracted him from the tea setting. His eyes scanned the horizon as fireballs billowed up like deadly mushrooms into the skies. He looked back towards the table, but it and Captain Kruger were gone.
‘Where am I? What is this hellish place?’ Victor thought to himself. He continued walking through the field. He felt an overwhelming sense of fear and dread. It all but debilitated him. He came to a trench line. The musky odor of the dirt snuck its way into his nostrils. Soon, the smells were comingled with blood and death. He jumped down into the trench. The floor was muddy with pools of blood; corpses scattered in various shapes. Some were slumped along the base of the trench. One rebel soldier’s face was plunged into a pool of stagnant water and blood.
As he made his way along the ghoulish trench, which appeared to go on forever, he began to recognize faces in the mud. These were his soldiers. Their corpses splayed about in a macabre way, many dismembered or with body parts completely smashed into the soil. It was a terrifying experience.
“Hey Commandant,” the dismembered head of Captain Mosh Karada uttered in a nonchalant way. The way you would tell a friend about a new exercise class you recently found, free from emotion, The head, resembling Captain Karada asked, “How can we take a Venator-Class ship with only 160 people? I mean, the intelligence we have on this Majestic is incomplete. Isn't this what you told us a week ago when we went into Anaxes?"
Victor Tavik stumbled back upon hearing the words. He was overwhelmed with fright. The expression on his face was one of tremendous horror. The head yelled at Victor, “You’re going to command a company of dead men if you keep this up!! They are all going to die, you pompous ass!!”
Victor fell back into the water. It splashed up around him. “Stop!” Victor yelled. He clutched his head, burying his face into his bent knees. “Stop this madness!” The corpses began falling in around him. He tried to stand up. With every futile attempt another body fell on top of him. He became pinned to the damp ground, the corpses piling up. They suffocated him. He could no longer see the light of day.
He woke with his heart racing in panic. He looked around the room furtively, his eyes bulging out of their sockets. The fear and dread of the dream created an overwhelming sense within the Commandant. He was visibly frightened, adrenaline pumped through his veins as the sound of his own heart thumped heavily in his chest. The alarm clock rang.
Mosh Karada
First Platoon Breaching Point “Captain?” the NCO asked the Platoon Commander, “is this First platoon? My name is Sergeant Duron, from the Sapper Platoon.”
“Nice to meet you, Sergeant. I am Captain Karada and yes, this is first platoon. Do you have breaching charges ready?”
“Yes sir. Who will install the bridging tube?”
“My third section. Get your charges in place. When I receive the order to move, go ahead and blow it. The Company Commander is coming with us on this. He may signal you himself,” Mosh Karada uttered the words just as Major Tavik approached the breaching site.
“I may take you up on that liberty, Mosh. Thank you very much.” He looked down his pointed beak nose at the Sapper NCO. His thin, lifeless lips drawn taut for several seconds. “Well, are the charges set, Sergeant?”
“No sir!” then took that as a cue to get working. Mosh pulled his platoon back. The sappers would blow a hole through the Majestic after third section got their temporary bridging tube in place. Once the hole was made, the Second section lead by Sergeant Jyneth Paltoy, a female Kiffar from planet Kiffu with her dreadlock hair and yellow facial tattoos would lead the First Platoon’s assault across the bridging tube and into the enemy ship.
“I will follow the lead section, sir. You are welcome to join me,” Captain Karada stated to his superior.
“No, Captain. I will monitor the radios from the other platoons and the ship’s CIC. I will follow your platoon sergeant through the breach.” The Major referred to the ship’s Combat Information Center, near the bridge.
“As you wish, sir,” Captain Karada remarked. “How did you sleep sir?”
“As serene as a baby, Mosh. I assure you, I am ready for this operation; quite excited actually. But that is to be expected.” Major Tavik glanced at his chronograph and listened to the radio in his ear piece. “Chakaar is aboard the Majestic. I expect it could happen at any time now. Get ready, Captain.”
“Yes sir!” Captain Karada checked on the sappers and then each of his sections. The first platoon was ready to go. He patted Halliq Neban, the newly acquired Kaleeshi warrior on the back as he passed him. He gave the new soldier a warm smile and yelled to the platoon, “this is it boys and girls! You get to earn your pay! Focus on what you are doing and you’ll come out alive! Remember to clear the corridors and rooms as we practiced them. If someone wants to give you quarter, let them. We are not fighting imperial storm troopers. These are mercenaries. Who knows what their motivation to fight is. Listen to your NCOs, do what you are told and we will be victorious. Huzzah!?” Captain Karada yelled the battle cry for everyone to hear.
The Platoon responded with three cries in response, loud and proud, “Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!” First Platoon was ready.

Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago.

<div style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division <span class="bb-i">"Yankee"</span> and 29th Infantry Division (Light), <span class="bb-i">"The Blue and the Gray"</span>. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.<br><br>I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.<br><br>When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.<br><br>There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.<br><br>I have real-world martial arts experience. <br><br>Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. :(]<br><br>Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.<br><br>Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.<br><br>--Gunther (AKA: Old School)<div class="hider-panel"><div class="hider-heading"><button type="button" class="btn btn-default btn-xs hider-button" data-name="Gunther">Gunther [+]</button></div><div class="hider-body" style="display: none"><span class="bb-b"><div class="bb-h2">Character Summary</div></span><br><br>Name: Gunther<br>Aliases: <font color="#1b1464"><span class="bb-i">Landain</span></font><br>Age: old (I was around when George Washington was a Lieutenant)<br>Birthday: August 12<br>Ethnicity: French, English, & Seneca (Iroquois Confederation)<br>Location: New England<br>Gender: Male<br>Higher Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice<br>Occupation: Substitute School Teacher<br>Languages: English, Spanish, German & a little French<br>Years RPing: 18<br>Preferred RP Section: Advanced or Casual <br>RP Level: Advanced<br>Dedication Level: Moderate<br>Biggest RP Pet Peeve: People who do not communicate with the group and drop. He attends Catholic mass with his family regularly and attempts a life free from sin. He can be a very moody person swinging from very warm, friendly, and extroverted to quiet and secluded. He hates winter; January and February make him very depressed. Gunther loves his children and would do anything for them and his wife. <br><br>Gunther is a morning person, but that comes from a life of serving in the military. He would rather go to bed early and get up early; prefers to exercise in the morning over working out just before bed. His chief flaw is saying what pops into his head unrestrained without thinking it over before letting fateful words spill out, full-fledged Gryffindor.<br><br>Habits: Smiling, unprovoked singing, talking with strangers & Coca-Cola<br>Hobbies: Krav Maga, Running, Movies, reading, writing, Military History & Playing games with his children.<br>Most recent hobby: Warhammer Age of Sigmar and 40,000.
