If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago. Anything Else:
Mmmm, I like the news reporter idea. I know Walter Cronkite rode a Glider with the 101st Airborne Division into Holland in September 1944. Let's assume he wasn't the only one. I will add the reporter option embedded with the unit in France. But I only want one. That would be laughable if everyone decided to play the part of the reporter.
I have been doing quite a bit of research on the 37th Tank Battalion. They had a 94% turn over rate throughout the course of their time in WWII which was not a long time. They first entered combat on 28 July 1944 and the fighting ended when Germany surrendered 8 May 1945.
If you have ever heard of Creighton Abrams, he is at the center of all this stuff. He was a true American Badass and Patton loved him. He lost six tanks during that nine and a half month period. Not one of them was "shot out from under him" like a cavalryman's horse. They were all maintenance issues. He rode into battle standing high in the turret, exposed for the Germans to see him.
Yes! Often times young men viewing horror up close and personal become creative or cryptic in their writing; in an attempt to conceal the realities of war from their loved ones. It was their way of protecting them. Also, the omnipresent censor enforced a redaction in some of their writings. If you would like to show those redactions in your writing, go for it. Write either letters home to loved ones or keep a journal. Soldiers were not as tight-lipped about their experiences in a personal journal; including the smallest details about their experiences in war. Several of these documents eventually were recorded into books written by veterans of the war. Today, Department of Defense (US) forbids any service member from keeping a journal or recording events in a diary. The fear is that the enemy might capture this document and use it against the soldier's unit. Today, a soldier needs to remember as much detail as he can and recall it all once he gets back to the world.
I should have the OOC posted later this week. Tonight is Game of Thrones night with the wife. She works Sunday evenings, so I save it so we can watch it together. I actually watched 7:1 three times last week. :)
I intend to leave this as casual as possible, where folks can come in and out as they please; make a post and move on or hang around and write a history of a unit while in combat.

Operations are defined as deployments to combat zones. A soldier who serves either two years or any number of years up until they retire will become a veteran, but is not a combat veteran unless they are deployed to a combat zone and have experienced being shot at. Alamo Scouts, Inc. will show preferential treatment to Combat Veterans who have two Skills/Specialties.
The year is 2056. The United States of America (USA) is in its second year of the war with the People's Republic of China (PRC). Most of the ground war is taking place on the Korean Peninsula, South Pacific Islands (Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, New Guinea, Philippines, Marianas, Taiwan, and Solomon Islands), Eastern Russia, Western Canada and Alaska. The war is being fought slowly, with tremendous volumes of blood being paid for every square yard taken. There is a vast naval and air war being fought, currently at parity across the Pacific Ocean.
Alamo Scouts, Incorporated is a Private Military Company (PMC) based out of San Antonio, Texas with advanced assets at their base in Darwin, Australia. It is a joint US-Australian corporation hiring experienced professional military and paramilitary personnel from the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Western Europe. The PMC specializes in intelligence gathering through reconnaissance, surveillance and deep penetration of targeted installations. Occasionally, they are called upon for direct action missions. Employees who come to Alamo Scouts have real world experience in Infantry, Cavalry, Special Operations, Commando, Special Air Service, Joint Task Force, Long Range Reconnaissance & Surveillance, Law Enforcement and/or governmental direct action units (i.e.: CIA's Special Activities Division). Applicants are generally combat veterans who have at least three or more years time in service. Applicants with experience in two or more generalized areas of expertise are given preferential treatment over younger candidates. The average age of the Alamo Scout Operative is 33.1 years of age.
Alamo Scouts, Inc. holds contracts with various Pacific rim nations including the US, Canada, Japan, Philippines, New Zealand and Australia. Hostile nations include PRC, N. Korea, Iran and Pakistan. Hostile organizations include KVA (Russian Terrorists), Daesh or Islamic State (Middle Eastern religious zealots), Taliban and the New Liberation Front (NLF) which seeks to over throw the current democratic government in Russia.
Although the war is fought in many locales in the eastern Russian Federation, Russia is not directly involved with the conflict between the USA and PRC. The Russian Federation is engaged in a protracted war with KVA and NLF organizations. There are no known organized operations involving both KVA and NLF forces working in unison as of this date. Rumor has it, they could be coming together soon.
Alamo Scouts utilize Long Range Reconnaissance and Surveillance Detachments (LRRS-D) which operate in 8-man teams. Each Alamo Scout Team plans, executes and supports its own missions with support from Alamo's Special Logistics Division (SLD). The SLD is equipped with the latest in state of the art technology to include the employment of cybernetically enhanced prosthetic limbs and implants. The SLD also provides Air, Land and Sea transport when needed and has recently given the ability to provide an orbital launch insertion method using jump pods. Alamo Scouts' Intelligence Analysis Division (IAD) gathers intelligence collected by Reconnaissance & Surveillance (R&S) teams and prepares it for dissemination to contracted nations and organizations.
All Applicants to Alamo Scouts undergo a Basic Operator Training (BOT) regimen at Operating Base Crocket near San Antonio, Texas. The BOT experience builds on the training and experience individual applicants have received from their home nation, teaches the Alamo operator how to use the PMC equipment and conduct operations according to the Alamo Scout Operations Procedures (ASOP). Applicants receive a copy of the ASOP during in processing and are expected to memorize every Tactic, Technique and Procedure (TTP) mentioned in the manual.

I am looking for six to eight military enthusiasts who either play Call of Duty or simply have an interest in this genre and would be willing to participate in a military themed Role Play loosely based on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (COD:AW) video game. Experience with the game is unnecessary. If interested, please let me know here or by PM. Females and female characters are eagerly accepted into the Alamo Scouts. If eight writers do commit to this RP, I will role play as the team's higher headquarters, support personnel and enemy they encounter within their operation.
I will provide mission details and concepts based on real life experiences with some input from the video game. I have played COD:AW and will work gaming features into the RP as well as reality. Since this is set 40 years in the future, I will rely heavily on the COD:AW Wikipedia.
I am looking for authors interested in writing in a letter or journal format as though they are American soldiers fighting in Europe during World War II. No application necessary. All I ask is that you post in the OOC channel the name of the soldier you are posting as and what his position is in the unit. Available positions are listed in the OOC. I will write as the Unit Commander. Please read posts submitted by authors ahead of you. Please make mention of the other soldiers in your unit as either NPCs or name the soldiers who are being played by authors in this story. After you make your initial post in the IC thread, create a Character Sheet and add to it as you reveal information about your character in the story. Write whatever you like in this character sheet.
As an example, I make a post, which is in essence a journal entry for my company commander. During the journal entry I mention Sergeant Awesome who is being written by @POOHEAD189. This gives poohead something to write about. Naturally, you don’t have to do this, but it could add to the amusement of the story, showing relationships and integration by the writers.
We are members of A Company 37th Tank Battalion and have an infantry platoon from A Company, 53rd Armored Infantry Battalion attached. Therefore, the unit will consist of three M4A3 Sherman Platoons (5 tanks/platoon), one M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer Platoon, one Armored Infantry Platoon (6 M3 Halftracks & 50 infantrymen) and the company headquarters (2 M4A3 Shermans). Each tank consists of a five man crew; Tank Commander (TC), Gunner, Loader, Driver and Assistant Driver/Bow Machine gunner.
You can write about events going on back home or those occurring in front of you. Write a journal or write a letter home to mom and dad. You can even include a letter from your mom that you received while in the field. I ask that you follow my post to know where your soldier is in the world and what day it is. We will begin sometime in July 1944. The 4th Armor Division, which the 37th TB and 53rd AIB are assigned to receive their first baptism of fire on 28 July 1944 after replacing the 4th Infantry Division in the front lines. Our Battalion commander is Lieutenant Colonel Creighton Abrams, who the current US M1 Main Battle Tank is named after.
No, do you want me to make a CS for him or a brief desc?
you don't need to write any more than what I posted at the top of Page 3 for NPCs. I intend to update that roster as new NPCs are introduced. In fact, I can add Patel there too.

--Gunther (AKA: Old School)

Gunther [+]

Character Summary

Name: Gunther
Aliases: Landain
Age: old (I was around when George Washington was a Lieutenant)
Birthday: August 12
Ethnicity: French, English, & Seneca (Iroquois Confederation)
Location: New England
Gender: Male
Higher Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice
Occupation: Substitute School Teacher
Languages: English, Spanish, German & a little French
Years RPing: 18
Preferred RP Section: Advanced or Casual
RP Level: Advanced
Dedication Level: Moderate
Biggest RP Pet Peeve: People who do not communicate with the group and drop.
