Oh, don't get me wrong. This isn't something that has me sad. I'm just taking it very seriously, and I've been mulling it over in my mind for a while.

I'm sure. I just know that sometimes humans "overthink" problems and lose sight of what's really important.
<Snipped quote by Host>

*Flattens my lips*
Yeah, people do do that, huh.

*Laughs to myself*
I'm just throwing it out there. But at least that expression was something other than sad.
<Snipped quote by Host>

I dunno. I like the idea that they're there for you, as you are for them.

There are humans out there who get married, have kids, and focus on family throughout their lives. That's virtually what my mother does and she seems happy with her choices.
<Snipped quote by Host>

People? Family and friends particularly.

That's a start. What do you like about them?
<Snipped quote by Host>

Not really. There's enjoyment in it, sure, but they're all missing a feeling of true importance to me.

What is important to you in this world?
<Snipped quote by Host>

Yeah, but when you're actually writing them? Who they are is more important than what they do to distinguish them as a race in readers' minds.

You think so? If I'm reading the book, the dude who can blow things up with his mind distinguishes him way more for me than the dude who sings traditional songs on the eighth of September. I'm not saying it's the case for everyone, but for me, actions speak louder than culture.

Stuff like hobbies? Well, I like swimming. I also like travelling, reading, and, well, nature.

And does any of that mean enough to you to be considered something you'd live for?
<Snipped quote by Host>

Nothing I can think of really scratches that itch.

What do you like? Not even as "the thing," but instead just something you enjoy.
@GalaxyRaider
I read your IA species book. I think the abilities of the Tzarians might well have been mentioned early on, but other than that I think the races are interesting and well-developed. If they have special cultures of their own, especially customs, those are really important to the identity of a race--not just its abilities.

To be fair, if someone told me there was a race of humans in Czechoslovakia that had super powers and could psychokinetically destroy objects and then told me they had a rich culture with good food, I'd probably care a lot more about the powers than the food ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
