Resubmitting my interest for this. I'll stick with a Servant of the Shielder class as I already have most of the profile written up.
@Tyler Night

I'm interested in taking part and I'm also willing to play the villain. Though, if you don't get enough interest it might be better for me to play another protagonist and have an NPC villain, or I could pull double duty to push the numbers up.
Synchro and Xyz need to pair with someone to start having their rating go up and down. Inherently, if nobody did pair up, they'd remain stagnant. However, teachers make sure to encourage people to team up with them as neither dorm is particularly weak and can help a lot with the ranking shifts.

How does this pairing work exactly? Does this mean they can only take part in tag duels? I'm not getting how this works.

Does this also mean that challenging a member of these dorms won't affect your own ranking?
@Satoshi Kyou @Ammokkx

So, how does the ranking between dorms work exactly? The OC mentioned that everyone starts on even ground so is it reset at the start of each year or does it carry over?

I'm just wondering if the current ranking is something that we should determine ahead of time.
"Go sensei! You can do it!”

Jasmine bounced on her feet, standing on tiptoes as she shouted her encouragement through cupped hands. She was so excited to see a duel between two teachers; especially since it was her teacher starting off the duel with his signature field spell and a strong monster. Turning her head this way and that she looked around to see if any of the Water dorm students around her were going to take up the cheering with her, but to her dismay no one seemed willing to do so.

Sitting next to her, Kanna didn’t seem to have even noticed her shouting, so intent she was on watching the duel; she was leaning all the way forward, elbows on her knees and hands folded under her chin while her eyes held their usual scary intensity. On Kanna’s other side Touma was also watching closely, leaning back in his seat with his arms crossed over his chest.

Asahi and Keita were nowhere to be seen unfortunately. They arrived early to claim the front row seats for themselves at Kanna’s insistence, but Asahi had refused their invitation and said he would arrive later. He was probably sitting somewhere at the back by himself as usual; the thought of it made Jasmine a little sad and she made a note to go spend time with him later. Meanwhile they hadn’t even been able to find Keita, and it was anyone’s guess if he had even remembered to show up. Maybe another student had dragged him along with them.

With a sigh Jasmine retook her seat, but was out of it again almost immediately as she leaned over to speak to the others. “So who do you think is going to win?”

Touma shifted in his seat to look at her, before turning back to the arena. His heavy brow crinkled in thought as he considered the duel. “Well, it’s only been one turn so it’s hard to say. Wataru summoned a good monster and the other teacher is only new, so maybe she isn’t that experienced yet? But we haven’t even seen what deck she has and Wataru isn’t exactly the best duellist at the academy.”

“He got his field spell out early, that’s good for him. It’s a strong spell and he knows how to use it to his advantage.”

Turning towards the best duellist in the Water dorm, Jasmine and Touma were surprised to hear Kanna suddenly speak up. Though, from the way she hadn’t moved and with how quiet she was it was like she was speaking only to herself.

Kanna should know very well how strong A Legendary Ocean could be as she had used it for years in her old deck, before switching to Nekroz. Wataru couldn’t use it as well as her father did but it was still a powerful tool in the right hands.

“Terrorking Salmon has fairly high attack so it will be difficult to beat on the first turn, and he has a card set for protection; it all depends on what Miss Nonaka does next.” Kanna turned to look at her teacher’s opponent with a slight crease on her brow. “Although, Wataru has always been a better teacher than a duellist. It wouldn’t surprise me if his student was better than him.”
@Ammokkx @Satoshi Kyou

Sorry for the sudden absence. I've had some computer trouble the past couple days, computer randomly shut off and wouldn't come back on, but it seems to be ok now.

I'll post something today. In fact I'll start writing it now.
Both sides are being played by Sat. If you want the duel to advance, we could do that. We wanted to give players a chance to react so far before doing anything, since we were expecting some audience reactions, but we can advance it if you've too little to work off of.

Since it's the Water dorm teacher duelling a former student I'll have plenty to react to. I guess I just misunderstood your post about how it was going to be rigid for 2-3 posts then you were going to open things up; I thought you wanted to get 2-3 posts of the duel out before the rest of us posted.
@Ammokkx

I was waiting for the duel to continue before posting anything, or is Satoshi playing both sides of the duel?

If so I'll try to get something up by the end of the day.
Well, the new cards are very dark-centered, so it makes sense I guess lol. It's going to be very strong for a structure deck, probably on-par if not better than the Dinosaur one. (Which wrecked the TCG for awhile) with a few meta adjustments.

I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh or even followed it for a couple years now; I stopped back when the first Kozmo cards were first being released. I don't know what the current meta looks like but the Lair of Darkness deck does look interesting and very strong. A field spell that makes it so that you can tribute your opponents monsters, something that nothing really has a defense against except this decks boss monster, for their own effects is crazy.

Plus, if I am reading the effects right, the fact that you can tribute a dark monster you control to search the boss dragon, then immediately summon that dragon because you tributed a dark monster this turn, because the boss does not have to have been in your hand when the tribute was made to be able to activate the self summon effect.

I can see the field card being limited if this deck does well and maybe the search monster as well.
You're thinking of Grinning Grave Virus, which'll come out in Lair of Darkness on April 20th in the TCG.

That's the one. I don't know why, but I was thinking that was a Darklord deck; I don't think the new cards are actually part of an archetype though, they just all work well together.
