Awesome! No hurry. I'm waiting for everyone to get their characters up before I figure out first plot post. So no rush. And yes, you can make multiple characters! Just make sure not to over extend yourself.
Autumn has long red hair that she tends to keep pinned up in a messy bun. She has a splash of freckles all over her body, due to her Irish heritage. She stands at five foot three, and wishes she was a bit taller. She tends to be more on the curvy side, which she happily embraces. She loves her curves. She enjoys wearing mostly girly clothing, wearing flowing skirts and dresses most of the time. She does dress professionally if the occasion calls for it.
Power/ Talent: Pheromone control, classified as a ‘Physical’ class. Autumn can put out a wave of pheromones, making it so that people will either calm down, or be more receptive to ideas. This has backfired on her, especially when it comes to romance. She currently wears a power dampener that looks like an ear cuff on her right ear. She takes it off when she needs to.
Biography: Autumn was born originally Maple to her con-man father. She never knew her mother, since she handed Maple off to her father and left him. It seemed to be a cruel joke to Maple growing up that her father saddled her with the name Maple. It never seemed to fit her. What was even crueler was that Maple would never grow up in one town.
Autumn's father was a con-man extraordinaire, who was always oddly one step ahead of the law. He posed as a religious man, car salesman, insurance salesman, and a number of other things over the years. Autumn grew to loath and hate what her father did for a living. She still loves him in a way, but has not kept up contact with him.
Autumn worked hard at school and earned a scholarship to college, and when she turned eighteen she left her home, changed her name and went to make something of herself. She worked her way through college, earning a degree in business in two years. She immediately got a job in a high profit firm and worked there for a few months.
It took Autumn a few months to realize what her power was, since she never really thought about things while she was doing it. Her main power presented itself one day when one of the co-workers she had a crush on asked her out. Then a few other co-workers asked her out! She was excited till she found out that the co-worker she had a crush on had rather rudely and abruptly broken up with his girlfriend, a fellow co-worker, that same day. She realized that she was causing the influx of hormones at work and quit that day. She found Sector X after a bit of research and asked to join, looking for a way to control her powers. They helped her by giving her an experimental power dampener, which made her the first test subject for it. It is thanks to Autumn that the tech even exists.
Hobbies: Cooking, baking, reading, knitting
Personality: Autumn is a very friendly person, but also very shy. Due to her powers and her nature she tends to shy away from people because she is afraid they are only friendly with her due to her powers. Also because of this she hasn’t had a date in six years.
Role in Sector X: Negotiator, Public Relations, Recruiter, and Field Agent on occasion (If the mission has a possible rogue element in it, Autumn is sent in to help calm things down.)
Additional Info: Autumn is always afraid of ending up like her father, using people for her own selfish gain, which is why she dislikes her power. She is also a hopeless romantic, and hopes to find ‘the one’ one day.
Cass keeps her black hair short, and tends to wear dark clothing, even if she is on the beach. She stands at five foot eight, and is highly muscled due to her years in the arm. She is also deeply tan, partly due to her heritage, partly due to the time she spends outside.
Power/ Talent: Cassie is what has been classified as a ‘sniper’ class psychic. She has a sense of hyper-focus and attention so she can ‘snipe’ with a normal handgun. This makes her very proficient as a sniper, as well as a marksman.
Biography: Cassie was raised in a rough suburb of Chicago, and clawed her way out of it. She was generally a quiet girl that kept to herself. Her father had served during Desert Storm, her grandfather in World War II, so Cassie was always determined to join the Army. She started taking karate and taekwondo at a young age, since her parents wanted her to be able to protect herself in her rough neighborhood. Her father suffered from PTSD silently, and the day Cassie graduated High School and joined the Army he finally snapped and went head first into the bottle. Cassie had not spoken to her father in a few years, but that has recently changed since he went to rehab and cleaned himself up.
At eighteen, just before she graduated from High School, Cassie signed up into the Marine Corp, which was an interesting decision. She worked hard through Boot Camp, and worked her way to becoming a sniper. After Boot Camp was over she was sent on her first tour of Iraq. It was during her second tour, towards the end that the change happened, and Cassie awoke to her powers. At that time she met her current boyfriend, Kyle Richards, while they were both in the med tent freaking out about hearing people’s thoughts. She went there after hearing one of her fellow Marines make threats on his ex-wife, and finding out after reporting him that he had never opened his mouth while ‘saying’ those things.
She discovered the full range of her powers on a sniper mission, when she used her combat pistol to take out her target instead of her sniper rifle. Cassie was a bit freaked out by this, but chose to take control of her powers, and refine them in the field.
After she was discharged with full honors, she was recruited by Kyle, who had been booted out of the army previously when they found out about his powers. (This was before the Army highly encouraged Psychics to join, when the powers were still new.) He had been recruited to Sector X and when asked if he knew anyone he trusted to join, he immediately named Cassie, and asked to do it in person. She accepted and has been working with Sector X for six years now.
Personality: Cassie comes off as harsh and abrasive due to her years in the army, but once someone gets to know her, they know she’s a very protective person that cares about her friends deeply. She does also have a weird sense of humor, loving groan worthy puns.
Role in Sector X: Field Agent, Recruiter, Security
Additional Info: Cassie hates her full name. No one is allowed to use it. Not even her mother. She is aware of the mythology behind it and hates it.
Age: [Real character age, and not the one they give people, thanks. ;3]
Appearance: [Picture prefered, drawing okay, but please, no anime. You can just describe them if you can’t find a good picture for them.]
Power/ Talent: [Besides having minor telepathy and telekinesis, your character may one additional power/ talent. If you are a non-powered human, talents like computer hacking, or sharpshooting will apply here.]
Biography: [A brief history of their life, including discovering their power. If they are already part of Sector X and you want to talk about how they ended up there, PM me and we can talk/hash/ rp it out.]
Hobbies: [Small list of hobbies outside of work.]
Personality: [Brief description of their personality.]
Role in Sector X: [If a part of Sector X to begin with]
Additional Info: [Just anything else you think we should know about the character.]
If you wish to make a Villain please PM me and we’ll talk about it. I would suggest you have at least one character be a part of Sector X in this case.
-Please no god-modding. This is kind of a given, but I’d rather say it here than have to deal with it coming up. Do talk to your fellow role-players and work out things.
For example. if two characters get into a fight, work together to write it out. Don’t just have one character beat the utter crap out of the other without the character’s player having a chance to respond.
Also keep out of character knowledge out of character, please and thanks.
-Try to keep it PG-13. Fighting and cussing will happen. If anything too ‘adult’ happens, please do a tasteful fade to black. You can rp it out in PM if your partner wishes.
-Have fun! That is the most important thing. If there anything you are concerned about, please let me know and I will address it. Thanks!
It is currently the year 2012, and about six years ago there was an event. Ten million people all woke up one day with powers. All of these people found they had a minor mastery of telepathy and telekinesis, limited to a small range of about 15 feet and small weight limit, usually about 3 pounds. They also found they had an additional power. At first it seemed random, but as the years went by, it has been discovered that for some, their main talent developed because of their personality or a hobby they already had. For example, a wartime sniper developed a hyper-aware focus and force that made it possible for them to snipe someone with a handgun from over 50 clicks away. Another example is a young lady who loved dolls found that she could bring her dolls to 'life' animating them in ways to become her bodyguards and protectors. For many, the pattern fits. For some, it is still a random luck of the draw with their power.
Amongst the panic that arose from the situation, there was a private company that founded an organization in the United States. The organization was dubbed 'Sector X' as a joke, but the name stuck.
Now Sector X is the go to for psychics. They have members in governments, and are always looking out for the best interest in all psychics, as well as keeping relations between non-powered humans and psychics civil. However, they are not without opposition. There are rumors of another group operating all over the world that believe that psychics should use their powers to oppress humans, and even other psychics.
In the six years since the change has happened, there are others who have awoken to their abilities over time, and there is now an estimated 30 million people with psychic abilities in the world.
You may start the role-play by already working for Sector X, or possibly being a target for their next mission. You can even start not even have powers, and being a non-powered human also working for Sector X. It is up to you.
Many of those working for Sector X were people who were brought to the attention of Sector X due to their actions. However, just because you capture Sector X’s attention does not mean you have to work for them. Working for Sector X is fully up to the individual. However, since they are not affiliated with the Government officially, there are some grey areas where some of the operatives can work outside of the law.
Sector X is located in Arlington, Virginia. It is close enough to the Pentagon and the White House, and has representatives in both. However, missions can take operatives all over the world. On the outside, Sector X looks like a bunch of storage units, but that is more like the parking lot for those that work at Sector X. Once you park your car inside, you take an elevator down to the main floor.
Inside there are at least six floors of Operations. There is a tech lab on the second floor, where dampeners were developed and other tech for either containing or helping psychics is in development.
The Third Floor is all the computer floor. It is where most of the ‘Hacker’ class psychics that work for Sector X work. It is all very high tech, with many touch screen interfaces, and more than one AI floating around, courtesy of said Hacker class psychics. The other floors are more like a traditional office building, with operatives having their own workspace/ desk.
Not all Psychic fit into classes with their powers, but here are the ones most often reported by Sector X:
Sniper Class: Hyper-focus, usually with weapons.
Technopaths, or Hacker class: Powers having to deal with computers. I.E. the ability to speak with the computer, or interface with it in a whole new way. Also able to mentally connect with computers and crack firewalls. Sector X has a test firewall set up to help find Hacker psychics, since they are typically rare and are potentially snapped up by not so good groups.
Elemental: Powers having to do with the elements. Hydrokinesis, Geokinesis, Pyrokinesis and Aerokinesis are the four typical ones. There are also those who can manipulate plants and metal, as well as the rare person who has powers that deal with ice and ice manipulation.
Physical: Super strength, heightened senses, healing and flying fall under this. It becomes harder to categorize powers at a point.
There are also those whose powers are more heightened telepathy or telekinesis, and do not have a third power. Those are the people who are able to move boulders with their mind, or easily manipulate people's minds or even wipe them.
Then there is the rarest ability. Null. The ability to cancel out psychic powers. There has only ever been one case of this power. The person in question has been put into hiding by Sector X.
The lady in charge of Sector X. The Big Boss. Head Honcho. Whatever you like to call her, she is in charge. She does not have any psychic abilities, but she commands respect. She is a former CIA operative. No one knows how she lost her eye.
Shadow, as they call themselves, is an organization that works in the shadows and is very shady. There are mostly rumors about them, but a few facts are known. They will abduct psychics and brainwash them into working for them. The head of Shadow believes that Psychics are the next stage in human evolution, and wants to make everyone like them, one way or another. Rumor has it that the head of Shadow is a man who possesses an extreme telepathic talent, able to warp people's mind, and wipe months of memories at a time away. They operate world-wide, supposedly. No one is too sure, since they are very much shadow and rumors.
The Game as it is called, is more a series of friendly competitions. These are places where Psychics with similar skill sets can come together to test out their abilities against one another. Sector X does some recruiting from these, however the games are usually privately funded, and are by invitation.
Since most psychics have had their powers for about six years, most have developed a mental ‘shield’ of sorts, to keep other psychics out. Most psychics do have a common courtesy to others and don’t actively read others minds, but there are the rare cases. With these shields, the most another psychic could read is the top thought on their brain, which could be as simple as something like: “Man, I really want a bagel,” but nothing too complex.
The Director: All around bad-ass, big boss lady. First name, Charlene.
Stella Rivenridge: Head of public relations and botanist. Also works in the research department with plants.
Tobias Rivenridge: Head of the Sector X Tech Research Department. Tinkerer.
Meghan: Telepath. Part time consultant, part time college student.
Christopher: Technopath. ‘Talks’ with computers and manipulates cords.
Team Gaia: Tia, Iggy, Bri and Craig. Friends of Niah.
Sector X is an underground facility, so the 7th floor is the floor you enter on. It has the lobby, and one security guard station. It also has a small cafe like thing.
6th Floor: Gun Range/ Offices. A few of the sniper class psychics pitched in to make one of the floors a gun range, fully sound proofed and well kept.
5th floor: Biology Lab. The whole floor is one giant lab. Partly botany, partly science. This is where the 'crime' lab, as it has been dubbed is. There is also a lab set up experimenting with plants.
4th floor: Offices. Woo.
3rd Floor: Technopaths offices. A lot of computers, touch screens and the like here.
2rd Floor: Technology Lab and Head of Public Relations offices.
1st Floor: Some offices, but the Directors office and another security station. All people going to see the director are required to check in here. Exceptions are made, especially if the person can teleport. However, all personal must show their badge if possible if they pass by.
...I'm crazy. Got a doctor's note and everything.
Been role playing for over fifteen years, no stranger to forum rp'ing, as that is the way I learned to roleplay.
I don't bite, so don't be afraid to say hi.
I mostly prefer 1x1's, and am on PST. (Hello from the West Coast of the USA.)
If you are interested in rps, really, don't be afraid to say hi!!
Or if you just wanna talk, I'm usually very open.
For those of you still here, have some Pusheen!
