Chapter 00 - House of Cards

-3-

After an unexpected encounter with a mysterious benefactor, if the strange fortune teller can be called such, the girls find themselves standing upon the threshold of something bigger, a chance to change their lives forever in a way the most only dream of.

While it maybe the most desired wish of some of them, and to others nothing but a tiresome bother, all of them would find that such a change didn't come without a price...

As soon as the mysterious woman vanished, the girls found themselves abandoned on that eerie landscape, where time itself seemed to have stopped flowing. A wind, cold enough to chill the spine of even the bravest knight, hushed by, caressing the girls' skins just as it carried the last of mysterious woman's advices.

"Go back to the Halls of Enlightenment, there you shall find that which you seek."

However, just before the girls could take any action, they would notice a low rumbling near them. It was a sign that they weren't alone on that world of delusions, and certainly, as soon as they turned to look, thee would see that something (be it a lamppost, a bookshelf, random electronics or even a rogue pinball) was doing something that an object such as that should never do.

The, formerly inanimate, items were moving on their own, and not only moving, but also intent on attacking them (be it by shooting lasers, or leafs, slamming them, or whatever other form of cartoonish attack that item could do), for reasons yet unknown to the girls. The only indication of identity on the curious beings was a marking, somewhere on their bodies that represented one of the cards from the Tarot's Minor Arcana, making it clear that this wasn't a disconnected event.

When all seemed lost, and girls were about to meet their fates in the most inappropriate way possible, another seemingly impossible event happened. The card on each of their hands began to throb, rumbling as if it wished to unleash some hidden power from within it. As the final blow was about to land, the girls would find themselves acting upon instinct for the second time in the night as they unknowingly activated their cards hidden power, becoming...

The Chosen Arcana, magical girls that fight with the power of mystic tarot cards.

Now, with the power to either fight back or flee, what would the girls' do?

Chinatsu Akane

Since she was the first to arrive at their vantage point, Akane had some time to contemplate the landscape of the Crimson World on her own, while the cold breeze that was so characteristic of this place, blew gently around her. Such was the level of the girl's absorption, that she barely registered as her companions arrived in the roof as well. At least until Owari came and greeted her from behind.

"Wha!? Owarin, you almost killed me, you know? You can't creep behind people like that. What would your fans do if they knew that their idol is a stalker?" Akane said as she jumped to the side, like a scared cat and put one of her hands over her chest, to calm her wildly beating heart.

Right about that time, Reika arrived as well, asking why they always had to be so bold, when their only action until now was literally walk their way to the roof which was the natural thing to do, since the needed to be able to have a clear strategic view of the battleground, right before inquiring Akane for her plans about the fight.

"Wait, I thought that you were the leader, Kuro-shin. After all, I'm just a nerdy weirdo, I can't possibly take the charge. Anyway, I think that we have better things to do now." Akane said as the presence of several Minors popped into existence around the school and not all of them were engaged with what Akane thought to be the new magical girls, created from some of the Arcanas that they had pacified in the past.

The currently unengaged monsters were three different places(the auditorium, the courtyard, and the dormitories) so they would need to separate from here on. "I'll take the one in the dorms!" Akane said to her friends, before getting ready to storm the dorms. However, before she dashed away, she turned to them again and said "Please, be safe, girls. If anything unexpected happens to any of us, she should call for the help of the other two, ok? Also, if you meet any of the new girls, please don't be too harsh to'em."

With that said, Akane ran to the edge of the roof and, with a twirl of her fingers produced her Arcana card out of nowhere, jumping from it and yelling

"Major Arcana XI - Justice, mystic change!"

before she disappeared from Reika and Owari's sight, hellbent on punishing whatever was it that as causing chaos at their precious dorm.

Fine by me!!

Nice I'll set things up later, then. Do you have any free time on the Sunday, if so we could do it then, 'cause I'll have a day off (thanks God for that) this Sunday. If you can, please specify your timezone as well, for me to know when said time will be here.
Addie

"I'm fine, Sayaka-san. I got cut because I'm so useless, I'm sorry." Addie apologized to Sayaka when the burned girl asked her about the wound on her leg. The truth is just that, if she wasn't so useless, she not only have helped Rei and Sayaka, but also avoided any wounds to herself.

Nevertheless, even as Addie's expression darkened with self-imposed guilt, she balled her fists and puffed her chest and declared her will to get better loud enough for anyone in the room to listen "Bu... but you'll see, Sayaka-san, Rei! I'll... get stronger, I promise. I don't want to be a burden to you anymore!"

Though, it seemed that the lavender haired girl's predicaments were going to start way sooner than she thought, since the teacher ordered her to hold a barrel full of water (which she could barely lift off the ground) for the duration of the class, before changing ideas and ordering Rei and Sayaka to torture her. Who could be so hearthless to tell companions to hurt one another? However, the threat of having Rei and Sayaka suffer in her her stead, moved Addie to action, even though the quiverng throughout her body made it clear that she wouldn't be able to deal with painful things.

"Sa... Sayaka-san, Rei, please..." Addie said as she willingly sat on the chair, despite knowing that probably neither the water would have been properly treated, which would mean that it would be full of germs, chlorine, or chlorine and chlorine resistant germs and that if the chair was knocked over, anyone would be able to see her underwear, which would be especially embarrassing snce she was wearing one of her polka dot panties right now. Nevertheless, Addie looked to her friends, with eyes like those of a rabbit that had been cornered by a predator, and asked them again "Ple... please, I don't want you to get hurt because of me again. I promise that I'll be ok... I think?"

Kaede

As Kaede listened to Kyoko's explanation, her usual frown eased gradually until she was gazing at the marksman with sympathy in her eyes. Who would think that they were so like one another? Even though, Kyoko decided to take the easy way out of whatever problems that she might have, which was impossible to Kaede, for a whole number of reasons.

"I see. However, this still doesn't excuse you from your guilt. Especially when you are one of thebest candidates to join us this year." Kaede said, just as t Head Director came into her office and lectured Kyoko, before asking if there was any reason why she should't punish her.

"Saya-sama," Kaede said right after Kyoko gave her absurd answer to the Head Director, "I believe that she had enough time to think about her misconduct, already. Please, given Akera one more chance. I promise that I'll keep her on line from now on." Kaede said in a very uncharacteristic display of empathy, before she fell silent, waiting for Saya's decision.

@WaddleDaisy
Gonna wait for @KoL to post before I do.

Actually, my next post is ready. I'll put it on line in no time.

EDIT: Posted, I'll wait for one more to see if someone will actually show up on the meeting with Itsuko, if nothing happens, I'll have her wreak havok somewhere on my next post.
Well, I'm doing some considerations for this RP. I think that if I change the structure a bit things will work themselves out.

That said, for this rework to be successful I'll have to drop Reiko, 'cause I'm not feeling like keeping her for this RP, to say the truth.
@Rin

While you are free to go whether you wish to, even if it'll sadden me of you do. I'd suggest that you check the second or third party of the first page of the OOC. I made that "The Story so Far" post, just because I acknowledge that this is bound to happen (it does for me all the time, so day the truth).

There's a link for every of my story important posts there. Based on the scheme Thai I'm issuing on this RP, you can catch up on your own, if you do do wish, just by following them, though I adviser to look at others posts to get a better grasp of what is happening around your character.

EDIT:

BTW, here's a link to said post: The story so far...
If you don't mind me asking KoL what are we doing on the roof ? @KoL

What? You dare to ask that? Obviously, were ate the because of this:

<Snipped quote by KoL>

Not the reason to why I'm a fan of it, it's because of the place and the horror type it is, and because of some of the chars I love.

If it's about horror, I'd prefer subtle stories much more. I have a thing for psychological horror and jump scares. Stories like the original Resident Evil, Alan Wake, Silent Hill and the like. This is the kind of horror that I enjoy, not seeing a psycho twirling someone's innards while singing the Camelot song, unless said pseudo is Freddy Krueger, of course, then it's just awesome. Other than that, no.

Too much gorn turns me off of horror. Not because it's disgusting, but because its's become a cheap method of "scaring" people with no originality behind it.

You mean things like Saw? I truly detest those movies, since the only thing they do for about 2 hours in everyone of them is mutilate people. If I wished to see that, I would see the footage of a slaughterhouse.
<Snipped quote by KoL>

Well KoL's not a corpse party fan.

Indeed, I'm not a fan of gorn things.
Cool, but just let me get one thing straight: our actions won't affect our real world after we leave the magical one, right? Say for example, the train Chikage is next towards: by the time or before the mooks show up, the train would have stopped, right? And if say, Chikage slams a Mook into a car or a car into a mook, she wouldn't need to worry about the possible collateral damage she's doing, right? Granted she might do it even if she will do major damage, if only to learn she needs to be careful.

Pretty much that. in the good ol' Nanoha style, you could level half of the city while fighting inside the barrier and nothing would happen on the real world.
