No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

I am. I know I only poked my head in the once, but I've been tinkering with a concept. If I get it where I want it I'll be joining. Assuming, of course, that that's alright. I haven't really been able to check in for a couple days.

EDIT: Oooooor perhaps not. Someone beat me to something very similar to the power I was going to use. I'll tinker and see if I can come up with something else, but that's... Unfortunate.
I might be interested in this, if you're accepting.

"You did great," Ben waved his hand a little and followed it with a shake of his head. He braced a hand on top of Joyous Guard and leaned on the shield, giving both of the members of Jumpercables a wide grin. A finger drummed briefly on the shield's surface. "Only worked 'cause you were watching our backs. I'm just glad this worked out alright, I didn't expect to field test it on another Reisen anytime soon. Thought after Friday we'd have been done."

"Luke was there for that,"
He jerked a thumb towards his Shiroyaman friend. "He's always got my back. Luke, I think you're gonna have a solid team. Skye and Bianca made sure my dumb ass could get close enough to actually use a sword. Gotta be careful, man, or they're gonna join the people that can kick our asses. Have to find out if this Jericho's one of 'em."

Nevertheless, he cast a quick glance over Skye's frame. He hadn't had much time during Grimm Studies, but it was pretty clear that she wasn't doing great. Not in performance, but health. Uniform jacket helped hide it a little, but it really looked like she hadn't had a decent meal in a long time. Made him frown. He made eye contact with Luke a second, wordlessly asking if he'd noticed the same thing. The other hunter'd help, for sure, but for now...

"PE's a lot more individual. Volkov's not psycho like Port." He cast a quick glance around. "Speaking of, I don't see him anywhere. What do you think, Luke, get her started on some cardio? Leave the real muscle building stuff for another day? If Volkov's not here yet I'm not sure he's gonna be, we might as well start."

Thanks for the mention, I should have a post up some time this week.

No rush, it was my error for failing to tag you in the first place. I look forward to it.
@Elle Santiago PUNCH 'EM IN THE FACE

Punching 'em in the face always works.
@HueManExcept you didn't because Genos is a cyborg for justice and revenge

@Krayzikk I get what you mean. I know what Surtr is, however, it's still a bit too... on the nose. Plus the Semblance doesn't really work.

The Semblance absolutely needs a rework, and finding a different picture is easy enough. I'll work on a second draft when I get to sit down later, but is there anything else that needs tweaking?
@Krayzikk <Snipped quote by tobiax> Plot hole- Semblances only work when you have Aura.
Also, let's be real. It doesn't look like your character's really based on Surtr entirely. There are more creative ways to pay homage. I'm a fan, but this is a bit much.

Thought image might be a bit much, even if it was an alternate version. Forgot some of the canon rules on Aura I've been playing in another RWBY game with its own internal rules because we didn't get any Aura exposition at that point. I'll rework it a bit.

Otherwise, though, Surtr really is the primary inspiration. I could do a section by section breakdown of what came from where. With the exception of its relation to blood, which is not from Surtr, even her Semblance is; Surtr's role in Ragnarok is to literally burn the whole world. It even affects where she's from, being from the southernmost city on that continent rather than the northernmost.
Whoops, sorry @Expolar, I forgot to tag you when I posted.
First draft, might need to tweak wording later, but I wanted to make sure I had a product to show. There are two sheets referenced here that'll be following before too long.

"Both of 'em, actually." Ben answered, after mulling the question over a second. "I had me, Sangue, Nuit, and Skye at first. Picked up a few strays after that, but started with them."

After that, though, Bastille's captain gave a long, low whistle. As hectic as his weekend had been, Luke's had been even more hectic. Somehow. He had to wonder sometimes if they didn't just attract it. If somehow they didn't just draw the insanity around them towards themselves, given all of the bizarre occurrences they had to deal with. Even at a place like Beacon it really did seem like they were magnets for extra crazy.

Though, honestly, he wouldn't have it any other way. It'd be too dull.

So the blacksmith clapped his friend on the back and flashed him a grin.

"Look at it this way, man, life has to heap the crazy on us. It's the price for us just being so goddamn handsome. A terrible burden, but one we can bear." Ben's grin widened a little. "We gotta find some time to hang out. You can tell me about this Atlesian lunatic that followed you home, I've only heard the legends."

He turned the smile on Skye as the girl approached, and pulled a chair a little closer so she could still talk once she'd taken a seat. The hand not resting on Luke's shoulder gave her a friendly wave.

"Hey, Skye, good to see you. Glad everything turned out alright with the Dionaea, that got a little hectic."
