Current I'm going to have to take a break for awhile. One of my dogs just passed; we went to bed together like we always do and when I woke up she was gone. I feel awful right now.

Had a fun birthday. Had some alligator tail for dinner, overall was pretty good for a place I hadn't been to before. Will start getting back into the groove of things soon.

Hi. If you've wound up here, you're probably wondering who I am.

You can call me Kuro, although some of you might better recognize me by one of the several other names that I have used in the past throughout the 11-ish years that I have spent on this forum. I'm a middle-twenties retail manager that is still trying to relive the glory days of their roleplay career while balancing a full-time job with an unsatiable need for overtime.

I tend to be open to most ideas when it comes to roleplay itself, be it whatever genre, group size, system, etc. That being said, I often gravitate to anything that falls in the following categories: anime, fantasy, slice of life, superhero or survival horror. If you believe that you have an idea that I might be interested in, feel free to shoot me a link; I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Sometimes I forget to check my messages, so don't feel bad about pestering me again if I missed it.

I also have a discord server laying around. If we're cool, then I might be willing to a toss an invite your way.

As she finished speaking, Haleigh felt guilty. This was supposed to be an introduction, and yet it seemed more like an impromptu therapy session. Regardless, one by one, words of encouragement flowed in from her teammates. Banjo. Rory. Katja. They didn't mind that she had dropped a bombshell onto the group, nor so much the fact that she was a loaded gun with a faulty safety, one that required the utmost care and attention to avoid an accidental discharge.

Perhaps for the first time since Haleigh developed her powers, Haleigh didn't feel alone. She felt understood, that she wasn't the freak she thought she was. They were "normal", so far as normal could be considered given that they had become hyperhumans and held dangerous abilities within them.

Feeling renewed, Haleigh turned to the trio, nodding a thank you in their direction as Rory took the time to speak up next.

Rory himself was a man of few words. He was a fellow Canadian, and apparently he could "borrow" one's power. It must've been why he was so nervous, Haleigh noted. She had just admitted how destructive her own ability was, and the others spoke of varying risks and factors to their own as well. Depending on who he borrowed from, whatever happened next could be disastrous.

Hopefully he doesn't get any ideas. Haleigh dreaded the thought of Rory being foolish enough to "borrow" her own ability. Though, maybe I'm just worrying too much over things.

By then, the conversation had shifted back to Calliope once again, in part because of Rory's insistence that someone went next. This time around, she went more in depth into her own life, explaining to the group that she was the daughter of a senator, and had to live up to his endless expectations. Though such a life was foreign to Haleigh, she nonetheless felt apologetic, even more so as she watched Calliope retreat into her shell. It was a place Haleigh was all too familiar with, and a place she didn't want to see someone else fall into the same trap as she had done many times prior.

Before she could say anything, however, Banjo beat Haleigh to the punch, and embraced Calliope from behind. Maybe that was what she needed, Haleigh figured. A gentle push into a better path, not unlike the confidence boost Haleigh had received earlier from Banjo and others.

After that, it was Luce's turn. She was also Canadian, and coincidentally also from British Columbia and with a history of camping. Given the proximity of their hometowns, Haleigh wondered if they might've unknowingly crossed paths before. Houston was only half a day from Vancouver, but there were camp grounds all over the region. As Luce continued her introduction, however, Haleigh felt a influx of shock as realization suddenly hit her like a truck speeding down a highway.

Brothers. Accident. Trees. No. It couldn't be, right? She knew this person. She knew Luce, at least as much as the news told everyone. Surely, they had to be connected. It was too much of a coincidence to be anything else.

As the conversation fell onto Iñigo, who had been the last person left to introduce themselves, Haleigh moved closer to Luce.

"I know you, Luce." Haleigh whispered to Luce, hopefully loud enough to be heard over Iñigo and Banjo's laughter-banter. "From before. I don't believe we met, but you were everywhere a year ago. Christ, I even posted about it. Do... Do you want me to take it down? It's the least I can do right now."

A wave of emotions rushed Holly as Lee and her crossed the street to the park's gazebo.

The fact that everyone was armed to the teeth still didn't sit well with Holly. It felt unnatural—uncomfortable, even—as much as it was needed for their own safety. Lila and Jason had swords. Winnie, a pitchfork. Even the Valero tenants came with a hunting crossbow and a makeshift pole hammer. In time, Holly figured, she would get used to it. But now? The sight of all the assorted weaponry put on her on edge.

Listening to Jason speak, Holly figured his speech would go as it did. He didn't have much of an idea as to what the street should do, despite having called the meeting himself. And then there was the comment from Alena, whose words ultimately stung more than anything else. She had tried believing that the zombies weren't their neighbors anymore, yet it was a concept that was difficult to come to terms with. Undead as the shambling corpses were, they still wore the faces of their once neighbors. They were people Holly knew. People she grew up around. And now, they wanted her dead; to eat her alive.

Biting her lip in anxiety, Holly pushed her thoughts away. They were supposed to be having a meeting, and so she decided to add her two cents in. After all, it was the least she could do now.

"Some of the houses already have fences. If they're not stuck in the ground, couldn't we, I don't know, use those? We'd just need to stick them back together again." Holly announced, then casting a glance to Lee and the Sparling siblings. "And a few of us here have some of the larger houses on Mulberry. I'm not sure how much room we have, but our house has a sunroom that leads off into the backyard. We always just used it for spare storage, so it's mostly empty right now."

Of course, that depends if dad doesn't freak out over it...

Holly took another look around the gazebo before speaking again. "Does anyone else have anything to add? Lee? Harper?"

"None of it matters." Classic CJ, still not giving a shit about anything. Anni thought about saying something in response, but the nagging feeling returned in her head. She was supposed to be "turning over a new leaf" now. Yeah, that was right. Not letting others get into her head was a weird experience, and admittedly one difficult to fight against. But getting feisty again would've accomplished nothing for the better.

Okay, maybe. Maybe not. She still wasn't quite sure on that one. But the time to be a snarky asshole had already left the station, and so Anni ignored CJ, and turned her attention back to the the conversation at hand.

Anni glanced at Hanna first. The woman was clearly feeling it after just a few sips of her drink. Someone was certainly a lightweight drinker, Anni came to find out, and she wondered if Hanna had a way home after this. Considering Ivory and her were supposed to go shopping after the reunion, that was likely the case. Still, Anni made a mental note to remember to offer the option. She wasn't sure where Hanna lived these days, but she could at least drive her to a hotel or let her crash back at her piece-of-shit apartment until the booze wore off for Hanna to drive responsibly.

Then, Anni looked to Ivory, listening to as she spoke. There was a weird tension in the air, Anni considered. Between Hanna and Ivory. Maybe she was misreading the mood. Maybe it was the booze talking. But whatever it was, Anni felt there might've been something more to what she was seeing.

Not that Anni had a problem with it. Good for them if it was indeed the case.

As the conversation shifted back to food, Anni decided to play ball with everyone. Though Hanna was paying, Anni decided to think of the others at the table. It'd be another step in the right direction, at least.

"Throw a pizza on there. The rest will probably want to snack on it." Anni asked. "Plain cheese, I guess. Not sure if the others want anything else on it."

The time capsule. Oh. Yeah, that was a thing. It had been one of several things Anni had blanked over the years. She had forgotten it even existed, though that was probably because she was always in the "heat of the moment" and focused on getting revenge on her former classmates. What did she even put in there, anyway?

"I probably wrote myself a letter. One of those dear future self things."

Confirmation would have to wait until later, but Anni was certain that was more than likely what she had placed within the capsule. She often found that it was easier to write out her feelings rather than talk them out, a trait that had carried over into current day with her novel writing. Books, unlike humans, couldn't talk back, after all. You could write out your anger and not be told it's "just a phase", or that your issues weren't valid. With words, they sat there and listened, letting you get your feelings off your chest.

"Or maybe not. Who knows. Just sounds like something I would've done back then."

@LeeRoy Not that I'm really sure why you'd even want to be on the guild discord. I can't find anyone that likes being on there.

This tbh. RPGO ain't worth it.

Also welcome back to the guild, btw.
