Hello! I'm LadyRunic! But you knew that...
I love most types of Role Play, but by far my favorites are those that are well thought out and worked with. Especially when you can find a group you can work well with. I love books- So many books. It's a running bet that I will become buried under a pile of said objects one day... I'm a tad busy, and when an Rp really catches my interest I'm inpatient for posts. It's like reading a good book and getting stuck on a cliff hanger.
You can generally expect posts regularly once a week if not more.
I've RP'd for the better part of fourteen years, so I can honestly say I have some experience and I've developed the understanding of what I expect of a partner in a one-on-one or a group. I'm also the sort who will speak up and point out something if it looks off or forms a problem to me. I spent most of a year once stuck in a Voice Chat Rp that was hell on Earth, so I'm straight forward when I need to say something. I expect this in return from my Rpers and DMs. I want to improve my writing and love constructive criticism.
@bluetommy2 Good from what I can see, but also note that while his shield may be stronger than metal in some aspects it's still wood and thus weaker in other aspects. A good axe or fast lance could splinter it.
@shylarah Because it was a simple mis-step on her part. They happen. Yet here she is with this child. Better the raise it then to leave it to the horrors of a orphan Fae's life. Which are bad. Better to raise her, show that she did this on purpose, cover up the mistake and make this child BETTER than pure blooded sorts.
@shylarah She has recognition being part of Nyx's guard, captain of it even! Half breeds are looked down on but as always there are exceptions to the rule. Sini is one of those, who with the help of her mother from what I can tell and her advantages in life, rose above it to be where she is.
Bedding people isn't. but Fea doe have contraceptives.
Falk does it and it works, it took a lot of time. Piratically all his years of ruling. But the Fall Folk are happy with him. They have food, protection. The law is fair and they just have to sacrifice a name which Falk has rarely called upon any of them. Rather looking to volunteers. His people do try to leave from time to time. Mostly those who are young, or those who don't care. Falk doesn't order them back and lets them try. Dealing justice if they dont.
@FallenTrinity PM me any questions and I would discourage being in Winter. Simply because I don't want people grouping up in one season. But if you insist, go ahead. I won't stop you.
@shylarah No you do not need to change Sini. Just keep that fact in mind. And I believe Nyx's character was changed because last I understood. His father was a Mara who impregnated his mother. *Raises hand* I cannot check and I do not wish for this to become a stressed topic again. You asked, I answer as I saw fit. As I said this is a work in progress and I did a huge overhaul when I took that break to get my head on right. I cannot keep all the details straight for everyone's character especially when I've just had a melt down over the drama that happened.
It's not a death sentence generally, it's frowned upon and often they will be taken as indentured servants. Some do remain free from this, but most will live in these No Man Lands with other 'half-breeds'. The 'wild' Fae. I stated that these existed before I believe. Falk's people encourage them to go to Falk and often will bring him half-breeds to take the name of. Some even raid these towns, though it's not common and Falk doesn't encourage it. This has generally been ceased since the war of Summer and Winter as those areas were dangerous.
As for indentured servants... They are servants who are forced into it. Better than slavery but not 'free'. Ransoming... Captured after switch borders; which is generally trespassing if you don't go through the proper channels. Ransoming them back to their original Court covers several things, it lets the Rulers have the option to seize back Fae who crossed- especially valuable Fae. Like Falk with the Mara for instance, or Aisling if she had tried. Then it also lets the family have chance to free their kin. It's not overly common in Falk's court but he does use it to get spies into other Courts.
That timeline is if what I know, if @Belle or @BlackPanther wish to discuss adding a war, or add a war in their history. It will be added, Again. Work in Progress here.
Duress is freely. Threats are freely. So long as it's not pulled out of the mind or mouth by potion, or magic the name can be used. Torture is HIGHLY frowned upon and had since the ancient days, for the getting of a name. Life can be made difficult, words can be spoken (Not magic but words, talk/gossip/blackmail). Trickery, bribery. If someone wants a name they can try to get it. But most Fae will not give up a name, because of how powerful names are.
@shylarah Easy there, this is a Work In Progress, and you're overthinking it. You're presuming FallenTrinity is going to switch Courts. On top of that you're presuming it is commoner than it is. If a commander left from one court to another they would be killed, lest the Ruler or their over-Lord had something to prove they were not such a easy turncoat. A hundred times out of a hundred a rogue commander is killed by both enemy and allies. When you reach such a rank within a Court there has to be a VERY good reason that you leave it, that you would rather death than to stay! For common Fae to switch Courts is such a sentence. Though rather one of indentured servitude till they either won free of the bond or were ransomed back. IF they were ransomed back they could expect anything from better to worse treatment and possibly- agian- death. It's a INCREDIBLY risky thing to do, changing courts. A child may get away with crossing the border or slip through a hole, generally becoming indentured servants when they are caught. It's why Falk was so infuriated about Nyx. A Shade, a wright from his Realm betrayed and defected to have a child! Half breeds are generally either left to suffer the prejudiced of their outsider heritage. Most of these live in the No'Man's Land strips between Fae Lords, eking out what living they can. That Nyx was raised in the palace with such a friend as Circe (?) was a wonder. That he became a King galled the Ancient Fae Of Fall. And reasonably so.
If Fallen's character defected, Falk would have his name. He would have it if Fallen's character was born to Falk as well. Why he didn't take Sini was because she was Spring, and Nyx. He couldn't touch her, much less offer her aught when he knew she would bring nothing but trouble. Spring in Fall! He would have a uprising for a petty little sprig! Better to see her dead, and her king as well.
Names can be taken but they must be willing given. Duress aside. Falk doesn't do it often, but when he does... He tries to keep the impact to peaceful discussion, and pleasent threats. And with such a ancient Fae? Threats are sometimes all that are needed, to see him in a wrath helps.
War between Summer and Winter, as was noted. Before that there was really only skirmishes over trivial matters. Fae Wars don't erupt over much, but they do happen every now and then.
Notable wars: ((SPOILERS))
- Sidhe and the Darkness -Earth Sidhe and Heavenly vs the Tuatha de Danann - Seelie and Unseelie Split - Fall and Spring Form -Falk Rises -Power struggles as rulers change (About one large war every few hundered years, depends how often the rulers change)
