The bugs aren't particularly bad. But regardless, you can't cheap out of it and get a good experience; it's like asking where to get the newest iPhone for $300.

This isn't true. As someone who has one, it's definitely worth it, but it's too early to care if you don't have at least $400 to spend and a gaming PC, or $1000 total. It's a money game, not a quality or content game.

Absolutely nothing. Phone VR is bad; it's not even really VR. The GearVR just happens to be the least bad of all bad products. You really only have three choices, being OSVR (HDK2, I recommend), Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive (best option). OSVR HDK2 is $400. If you have a PS4, wait for PSVR so you don't actually have to build a decent computer.

Er, you can't (and you don't want one). It's a physical consumer product that is only sold for one price. You can get a used one off of eBay, but it's not like an eBook where people will just upload copies.
