Now all the targets are bundled together in one little package. They might have a little more defensive power, but I think it was probably much better when they weren't a threat at all.

I don't know, like, if you're shooting arrows or something, it's much easier to hit one big target you care about than it is a bunch of random targets you're not even trying to hit.

When civilizations die, it's not usually due to some form of targetting. It happens by chance, or by simply winning some jerk's mental lottery. When a bunch of insignificant species band together to protect themselves and one another, the random elements are taken away. And, not only are you out on the map for bad guys, but you're also now on the map for good guys as well.

I think being on the map of good guys automatically puts you on the map of bad guys.

Not particularly. It give normal people a chance, because alone, I dunno of any civilization that can defend itself from things similar to the stuff on the level that you all fight.

I thought that smaller and weaker groups weren't normally targeted. I don't know for sure, but if I were a bad guy, I don't know why I would go after some random planet that can't do anything about it, or even how I would know they exist.
