Not really. The tourny is ending and they need time to come up with more.
They announced it without any kind of forewarning, hence the left field. Plus, they have tons of writers and could keep it going if they wanted to (OP does it), but they're taking a break to prep for the movie and such.
Blitz wanted me to tell you all hello and that he'd be here soon enough. Also, he talks about everyone (Curtis, Data, Alucard, Soren, Techi, etc.) when he tells his little cousin stories.
