Current Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

After taking time to think about this longer than 'not at all', I don't actually see the problem I thought there was. I just totally forgot what was going on, what with how the thread started.

Sorry for the bother.
>_<

Thanks!

Also, everyone, as I said to Lumiere on Discord, I edited my CS; all but the Cherubim Pistol and the Omni-Tool, as well as Flame's Family Picture and Ration Packs, are listed as 'destroyed'.
Oh, I see the skele was left the same. <_>
Well! Nvm that bit then. >_<;

Yes, I gave Flame such powerful gear because I thought he won't have it in the beginning; I was never planning to godmode as him.

That said, it'd take a lot of hard work and effort for me to revise Flame's Sheet, and I haven't eaten breakfast yet (it's morning my end). Not to mention that without his gear, his' coming from a futuristic universe won't make any difference except to the theme (and even then, Paul said in the OOC OP that Kazzok was interested in technology).

So if you and Paul stick to 'PCs don't have gear', perhaps Flame's CS can be left as-is, but with Flame getting his gear later than the others'? For example, Flame can only get his Pistol when the others get back their full range of equipment, or even just his Omni-tool and associated apps; he then gets his other gear back further into the story.

Or alternatively, Flame can have his Power Armor, Assault Rifle, and Monomolecular Knife utterly destroyed, and he has to find more fantasy-esque equipment elsewhere?

I think?

I wasn't going to assume anything unless it ended up happening. Kirby Ashton is already a little busted as they are.
Trying to balance enemies that won't just straight-up die immediately after being shot sounds like a headache and a bit unfair to the rest of the party. Its a little difficult to imagine how bird-girl with her bow can keep up with a war machine, regardless of make.

...starting to make me reconsider that bit about letting people start with gear. I thought we were going to run it back kinda how the first one started without getting horribly sidetracked looking for equipment.
However, I suppose its not really my thread in the strictest sense. ^^;

I thought Flame won't have Gear, as the Character Sheet says that all Equipment was removed. Or was that meant to be revised?

Edit: But if characters start out with Gear, then I'll further revise Flame to be weaker.
@DocRock, @ShwiggityShwah:

I'm leaning Magitech; Steampunk is more alluring to me when it's large machines instead of personalized armor. And Flame is meant to be on the same power level as the other PCs when he has his equipment, but not when he doesn't.

And with that, I have an idea.
Fantasy, steampunk, medieval.

Some liberties were taken with interpreting small additions, but I wasn't ready for powerarmor and assault rifles. <_>;

I can revise Flame's backstory and home universe, but I still don't want to be accused of making him just so Ashton has a free source of powers to copy, which in turn means a technological source of capabilities. Can Steampunk or Magitech do the same things I intended technology to do?
@PaulHaynek, @Lumiere, thanks! Sorry for the delay.
Mass Effect: Seraphim Post

"Oh, wow, you're hot," Ashton was gazing at Laurence's blond hair and intact eye, as well as the finely-formed facial shape of the remaining unbroken parts of the mercenary's face. Then, realizing Flame was just beside him, the boy clapped his hands on his mouth, before looking at the redhead, scared that he might have offended his prospective boyfriend.

"Never knew you got off on missing eyes and burn scars, Ashton," Flame said archly, highly displeased. "But yes, 'Stompy' does have some good looks." He looked at Ashton, the frown fading away to be replaced with a smile. "I'm hotter and you know it."

Ashton brushed Flame's hair with his right hand. "That you are, Flame, that you are. Now I need to make sure that the remaining enemy Mecha stay hacked, as well as take control of the ones still being used by the enemy."

He then turned to where the battle was still raging, only to find that most of the Mechs - Enemy and Forced Ally - had been destroyed, even as a slightly larger enemy gunship was headed towards the control tower, covering its advance with shots of railgun fire. Ashton instinctively turned towards Lokea, even as Flame put up his own biotic barrier. It seemed that the enemy was directly coming for them...
@PaulHaynek and @Lumiere, Response to my question on the last page?

Ashton Andrews, the Chosen of Stories

Ashton was not a would-be hero for nothing; he saw after a few moments that the other prisoners were already regaining hope, or never lost it in the first place. C. Selphia was a nice guy, too, trying to reassure a kid whose words could be mistaken for attention-seeking. And Plague Mask Guy? The kid had to admire his moxy in signalling the others to prepare an escape bid. So he met the 'Dragon's' smile with his own, faint one, a signal that despair had left him. They were all heroes and the occassional anti-heroes here, weren't they? That hadn't changed yet and quite frankly, the Chosen of Stories was not willing to let it.

So he whispered back to C. Selphia, his voice as low as possible, "I was wrong to break."

A signal that the boy had in fact, broken, and was merely being chatty when taking to C. Selphia. While giving the latter time to recognize this truth, Ashton waited for the other currently stronger prisoners to make their move; without his powers, he had no choice but to follow their lead. Glancing with the edge of his eye at C. Selphia, the boy whispered once more, "Shake my left hand under the table while we wait. Don't ask why. No longer broken."

Sixteen years old and facing life as a prisoner or slave of an evil overlord, not granted the mercy of death? Seal Team Ten would be more ashamed of me if I just take this lying down. Finally, Ashton's thoughts were making sense.

The boy had another theory, by the way: 'Cold King Kazzok' was a narrative being whose power was over stories itself like he, Ashton, technically was. That's how the Dark Lord was able to beat so many heroes from many other 'genres' of Universe. If true, then it means that 1.) Kazzok can only defeat them if it made for an interesting story or a setup to a story, 2.) They can only defeat King Kazzok if it made for an interesting story or setup to a story, and 3.) Kazzok must have a source of power that ties into narrative, like a.) A special artifact like the book his Uncle bequeathed to him, or b.) Being a creature made of narrative.

Creatures made of narrative could exist naturally, like Faerie Creatures from certain worlds (coughExaltedcough), but they can also be created by authors in worlds where authors had reality-warping powers. Was 'Cold King Kazzok' such a creation? Or simply a very powerful being/entity able to operate in multiple worlds?

There was no way to know. And Ashton also knew that if he settled on a theory right now, with inadequate evidence, then he'd be overthinking and guessing instead of, you know, analyzing. But gods, it was so frustrating to not have anything even when he had decided to fight!

The boy side-glanced at C. Selphia once more, hoping that 1.) the latter had agreed to do as he had asked, and 2.) that he had not missed said agreement while he was theorizing and guessing.
