Once upon a time, I used to cheer for May the 4th... now I cry with disappointment. *Except Clone Wars S7 and the Mandalorian - they are awesome*

Upon hitting the massive Assault unit, Gideon was quick to discover that this abomination wasn't simply its own organism. After shooting it multiple times, the half-demon could notice several smaller lizards falling off its body as it stumbled forward. It was made out of a whole swarm of them! It was rather intriguing to say the least. Yet as he continued chipping it with his weaponry - as well as the occasional spear that would rise from the ground - Wrath would begin his own assault by slamming the tip of his sword into the ground and cause a wide chasm underneath it before proceeding to attempt in slaying it.

Gideon made sure to keep wide range away from the Nephilim's influence while he quickly fired a whole barrage of Bullet Hell towards the giant Assault to whittle him down even further.

With the golem having been easily taken care of, Mallus looked at the fallen foe unimpressively it's utter disintegration into the air. The angelic primarch showed no signs of remorse, sympathy, or pity towards it - only recognizing it as yet another filthy and insignificant opponent that had been defeated by his hand. With a silent scoff, he signaled his men to march forward as they continued heading deeper into the caverns.

Mallus expected to encounter heavier resistance the farther they went, however he was mildly disappointed as they reached the cavern's exit. The locals here called that giant heap of rocks their line of defense? How shameless. Yet as the Primarch looked up at the surrounding location, he caught his attention upon glancing at a floating oasis. It was indeed a welcoming sight for the warriors to encounter and perhaps a place to settle down for the day. Yet Mallus didn't seem to be the only person who believed this, as one of his officers clearly suggested.

"It seems this area is safe Commander Mallus. It may be a good place to make a checkpoint."

The primarch simply nodded his head.

"Indeed." he bluntly stated, "Proceed to assemble a base of operations here immediately. We'll be here for awhile."

The angel officer would immediately get everyone set to work, while Mallus stood on the edge of the oasis' base overlooking the vast floating landscape beyond. But it wouldn't be long before his train of thought would be interrupted once more.

"Commander Mallus," the same officer reported once more a few moments later, "It appears that there is more area ahead. With your order we can take a retinue of angels and scout ahead to see the path forward."

The armored primarch took a second to scour the lands ahead, glancing at any notable details within the nearby floating islands and platforms, before responding.

"Order authorized." he answered nonchalantly while pointing at the location, "However, my assistance in the matter will not be necessary. Several scout parties, by themselves, should be sufficient. If they see anything of interest or immediate alarm, they must report back to me immediately."

The primarch would then hover his gaze towards the demon portion of the expedition, carefully observing both Lily and Cassandra's behaviors before looking back on the horizon.

Ferrus' strike missed his mark as Vega effortlessly jumped back and released a cloud of purple smoke to encapsulate the battlefield. The fiery primarch was rendered blind for a moment as he looked around wildly for the demonic entity. But once the gas settled, the angel looked to see the opponent just standing there - hands in pocket - and began to mock him once more rather than retaliating.

"Come on kiddo, that fire's gotta have more bite than that."

Ferrus' glared back at the cocky demon with a raptured look. Just looking at his very punchable face and smug aura made him absolutely livid. He shouted angrily as he swiftly pointed his blade at Vega and fired a large beam of fire towards him with
as much careful precision he could muster. Then he would follow it up by issuing a powerful tornado of fire in an attempt to capture him in place - or disorient him - as he went in for another strike.

Yet all the while, his senses were going off at an alarming rate. The figure's movements and attitude must clearly define that he had complete control over the situation. Perhaps he was luring the young Primarch into a trap. Yet Ferrus thought he could sense whenever the trap was going to burst out and attempt to jeopardize the entire mission.

Whether or not his fiery aura would let him is up to debate...

As the salty wind currents howled in the empty air, the mighty Phoenix continued its journey across the restless ocean. Despite his body looking completely incapable of flight due to the nature of his stature and rugged skin, the flier had no problems gliding with his massive wings propelling him forward as chunks of lava and debris fell from said wings. Of course, riding the local wind currents was also a blessing for the creature to rest its wings momentarily and glide for miles at a time without using any energy. It also often found itself gliding either barely above the clouds, or extremely close to the water's surface to the point where its just barely skimming across it. Unlike Sartr, it didn't have major phobia with water in any capacity. And while like Sartr it still preferred not to get its wings wet, it was not afraid to dance along the edge of its elemental nemesis.

But still, its trip was going to be dauntingly long one, especially given the direction it was going. If it chose to go southwest, instead of southeast, it would definitely taken way less time than this route. But being fresh out of Muspellheim, its sense of direction was still in need of major calibration. If the Phoenix was going to complete its trip towards the continent at this rate, it'll have to make a quick pit-stop at the nearest landmass to refuel and hopefully absorb some energy from the surrounding location. Once filled, it should have the strength necessary to make it over there. In order to do that however, he must first find a decently sized island.

And lucky for him, there was one right within his flight path.

The Phoenix eventually caught a sweet whiff of a freshly unique scent. Instinctually, its mind realized that it was the smell of land - although it smelled nothing like the smoky scent of boiling lava and ash back on Muspellheim. Curiously, it followed its nose towards this intriguing smell. And after several more minutes of flying, it could finally see the vague outline of a green landmass behind the ocean haze. The creature began to feel excited about this newfound bounty. It began to flap its wings harder, now propelling himself faster as it used the air current to his advantage.

Meanwhile, the virgin tropical island had little to no idea of the approaching body of fire as the local wildlife went about their day as usual. The birds chirped and sung to one another, as small rats and lizards scuttled underneath - but neither had expected the flying mass of fire and flame speeding towards them. And so once the Phoenix was upon them, they were utterly helpless to stop it. And with nowhere else to go, they were doomed.

The giant pterosaur made a low fly-by of the island, unleashing hurricane-force winds upon the land with its massive wingspan and ferocious speed combined. It ripped through the jungle with devastating force, ripping out groves trees straight from the ground and flinging the native wildlife around like leaves in a breeze. And the fire and ash that fell off the creature's wings were quick to start a major forest fire - with balls of congealed magma crashing upon the forest floor. Those who could burrow into the soil had a much better chance in surviving compared to the rest of the wildlife.

In only a matter of minutes, the Phoenix had completely scorched the poor island.

Now sterilized, the Phoenix finally descended upon the heaping rock with a massive thump. It searched the island for any scraps of food that had been cooked alive - or perhaps still amongst the living - by his apocalyptic chaos. Any form of food, no matter how small or big, was its for the taking. Any scorched lizards on the ground were measly pickings for the colossus. Any bird that attempted to whiz by its head would risk getting snapped by the Phoenix's gnarly beak, which was tipped with sharp edges that made its teeth. It even resorted in plucking out scorched foliage in an attempt to fuel its ever burning flames - from logs, ferns, and even large trees.

But what it didn't know was that it was trespassing on private property... for it was within the island archipelago that surrounded the infamous Eye of Desolation. Surely any god nearby would be alerted to its presence... if not for the oddly heated winds that blew bits and pieces of ash towards them.

@ShwiggityShwah Perfectly fine by me lol
I shall be posting later as well.
@Lmpkio Bastion's head is not exposed in Configuration: Tank. Additionally, I had already written that Bastion hit Rabbid Luigi with a blast, so there's no saving him from being hit, especially unintentionally.

I'll edit it quickly.

Edit: Done
I love absolutely everything about Michael being pissed off at 6 in that post. Literally everything.

Basically grinds down to this:

Edit: Oh would you look at that, I took the 666th post. Where are thy demon henchmen?

"Out of the Dungeon, Back into Combat"

Geno braced himself as his wooden frame collided with the plushy plumber, using all of his added strength to lift him out of the dark dungeons. His thrusters were working overtime to use up all of the remaining fuel just to keep him going. As he lifted Mario up the stairs and to the first floor, the opponent attempted to break the bear-hug as he attempted to hammer down on the Star Warrior's back. Yet despite using all of his leverage, but due to the sudden G-forces he'd experienced upon collision, as well as just how fast he felt himself going, they weren't necessarily effective in hitting their mark. Even as the second strike hit upon Geno's back, the puppet's added boost strength allowed him to tank the hit significantly.

As they speed up the staircase, Geno was able to take a quick glance at both Donkey Kong and the dragon, who were both utterly taken back by the speeding duo. He still felt immensely guilty at who he did towards the latter, but at least he's going to find his way out from that devilish place. His thoughts were cut short as he unintentionally used Mario as a battering ram to break through the wooden doors ahead. Nevertheless he continued upwards, ignoring the lavishly nostalgic hub room of Peach's castle and the screaming toads that were locked within her walls, as he continued to ascend upwards. Next thing he knew, he smashed through a large stained-glass window and was immediately flooded with a flash of warm light upon his wooden skin.

The bits of colored glass reflected upon the sun's warm embrace while Geno flew straight into the sky. There he can finally see the outside world, which included the scrapyard closest to him and the rest of the green pastures way past. And what's even better, it appeared that the group had finally made their way here. They were currently fighting the hard-hatted engineer and its robo-turret counterpart. However, that didn't stop a few allies to look up and notice the wooden puppet carrying an unconscious plumber in his hands. The only character to actually seem to give a care was none other than the Koopa King himself, who roared his nemesis' name in disbelief.

And to think that he and Mario - hopefully - are going to team up again since their encounter a decade-and-a-half ago is something Geno believed to be utterly preposterous.

And speaking of his friend, the small puppet could already start to feel the strain of carrying an 89 kg (196 lbs) mustached plumber filled up on spaghetti and spicy meatballs. Good thing he didn't need to eat - nor issue photosynthesis for his plant-based frame for that matter. He'll need to drop him off somewhere very soon and somewhere out of sight from the enemy, unless he wanted all of his work in liberating his friend to be rendered futile. Yet as he observed the battlefield, he caught sight of the robo-turrets walking around and shooting everything that opposed them.

Yet there was one bot that seemed exceptionally vulnerable compared to the others - who was at the river's end about to obliterate one of the rabbit creatures. With his fuel about to resort to running on fuels, Geno had to act quickly to use them to the best of his abilities. He dove down towards the bot, still holding Mario in his free hand, as he pointed his arm cannon towards it and issued a power beam at its barrel. Unfortunately, it utterly annihilated the bunny by the time it got hit by the beam. And that's when Geno finally heard his thrusters give out. His wooden frame skided across the grass floor as he tightened his grip on Mario in order to keeping his meaty body from scrapping the floor.

Once they've grounded to a halt, Geno slowly rose from the ruptured dirt as he looked at the chaos around him. He had to find a place to seclude Mario concealed for the time being - or perhaps have someone else babysit him until the battle is over. But with most of the action taking place around the Engineer and the raging rockets that flew out of his sentry turret, perhaps it would be best for him to take it easy for the time being and stay away from that hornet's nest for the time being. Grabbing Mario by his wrists, Geno proceeded to haul his friend's body away from harm as they hide behind a mount of debris and dirt. He laid him up-right upon the rubble, comforting him for a minute before peeking out of cover to fire several potshots at the mini-boss from afar. Any opponents who got close to him would also be quickly dealt with by Geno's boost in power.

So...King K. Rool?

@Lugubrious Btw, just to be sure, once I get Mario as my playable character, does he have to start from Level 1 all over again? Or does he at least be at Level 2 for crutches sake to be roughly around where the others are?
Well Ima day this - if anyone sees a big explosion coming from the roof of the castle, don’t hesitate to notice ya boi Geno finishing the job that Bowser couldn’t lol
