Tell you guys what, why don't you all write your flashbacks while we wait for others. I'll work on a quick post to get the surroundings ready, and we'll start from there.

Simply put, Lance is a front-line warrior.

_Appearance

Lance stands a little over six feet tall, and has a thick muscular frame. He has tan skin, and dark black hair that runs to his shoulders. Lance wears a Tunic or Robes during his off time, with a circular pendant with the symbol of his military rank. He carries many tiny scars around his torso, wounds from his time serving his country.

_Personality

Lance has a kind heart, despite what many think. He's seen some horrors in his time, and sympathizes with others who've done the same. Lance has has little respect for those that haven't done a hard day's work, but have enough ego to cover multiple people. Quite ironic for an Elf. And while he now prefers words, he knows there is a time for weapons, and when that time comes, Lance will not hold back.

_Background

Lance was born to High elves, but was never raised by them. He was instead given to an old friend of his father, a Human named Markus. Lance soon learned that his parents were teenagers, and his birth was basically unwanted. Growing up, Lance was raised as a Human, not an Elf. He never learned a whole lot on magic, and was taught to live like a man. At first, Lance was going to be a Carpenter, like Markus, but that all changed very quickly. If there was one thing Lance valued above all else, it was his home, and when he learned that his country was going to war, he enlisted as soon as he could. Barely out of his teens, Lance learned to fight, and to follow the path of honor and discipline. The attack on his homeland did in fact come, and Lance was an unparalleled fighter. He rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a Sergeant before the war had finally ended. In his 30's now Lance was a proud soldier, but misfortune had struck, and while he was out fighting, his adoptive father, Markus had been murdered, his home looted and burned down. Having nowhere left to go, Lance would spend the next 90 years in the military, training recruits, being deployed in other countries, and commanding his own force of men, and being promoted to Staff Sergeant. Eventually, however, Lance grew tired of it all, and requested a Discharge. His request was granted, and Lance moved to Meplein.

Lance would spend the next 40 years honing his craft as a Carpenter, to honor Markus' original wishes. Soon however, shit would, as they say, hit the fan, and the king would be betrayed and killed, yadda yadda, you read the foreward. Lance would do his best to survive on his own, trying desperately to stay under the evil ruler's radar. Then he would hear of the White Rose, and his mission became clear. This was his new home, and he must fight to take it back.

_Skills

●Sword and Spear proficiency. Lance's weapons of choice were the Sword and the Spear.
●Carpentry. Spending 40 years as a carpenter gives you some good practice.
●Shield Proficiency. Like the Sword and Spear, Lance prefers Sword and Board if he is not using his Spear.

_Weakness(es)

●Slow. Although he is strong, all this heavy equipment slows down his overall speed.
●Rusty. It's been over 40 years since Lance last had a serious fight, his technique and strength aren't what they used to be.

_Equipment

Lance has his old Spear, Sword, Shield, As well as a his old Scalemail. He carries little money on him, only a few gold coins, leaving the rest of his wealth in a bank, which is probably gone now given the circumstances. He has his carpentry tools, for whatever they may be worth, and two days of homemade rations, waterskin included.

Trouble in Korthos

UPDATE: Work and School has been pretty Taxing on me, and I got pretty burned out for a minute, but things should be back to normal for now. I'm still working on getting a map because for whatever reason good map makers are hard to find. Below is the Requested backstory for Korthos. Lastly, for our first posts I'd like to do a "Flashback moment" What you were doing before getting on the Wyndspire Falcon/ what you were doing on it. This is a chance to develop characters, establish relations, etc. I'll wait a couple more days for everyone to finish everything up , and then I'll hit up the first post.

Korthos

Korthos was Originally uninhabited by Humans. The first settlers were Sahuagin, a race of fish people. These Sahuagin worshipped an evil god called the Devourer. They populated some parts of the island, but mainly stayed near the water, as most Sahuagin do. After some time, a small boat made its way to the island. a small group of people looking to settle. 5 men and 5 women, all humans, were sent to populate the island, and would respond to their homeland once a settlement had been made. The Sahuagin, discovering this, demanded sacrifices from the humans, for living on their home, and raided their city in a show of power, stealing the runestone that allowed them to commune with the mainland. The humans, weak, and unwilling to fight, gave small amounts of gold, meats, and even weapons to the Sahuagin. Being so few, however, the Humans could not keep up with the sacrifices, were forced to flee the island, or fight. Two women, and one man decided to flee, while the rest submitted to the Sauhagin. Those who submitted to the Sahuagin, were enslaved by the Sahuagin, and their children were converted to worshiping the Devourer, and some of the adults, eventually began to worship too, out of desperation.

The escapees made off with their magical runestone in a scuffle with one of the converted, who had planned to try and return with them. Now four, they could finally commune with their homeland, Ecclesia. Unfortunately, during the years, a civil war had broken out over taxes, and laws on property. After explaining the situation, the King sent over what sparring soldiers and supplies he could, as well as any volunteers from Eccessia that wanted to go. Arriving on a much larger scale, the people of Ecclessia set up a village along with the original four, and began to fight back against the Sahuagin. Over the next 10 years, Korthos would be put on the map, both the Villagers and Sahuagin forces (Both the Sahuagin themselves, and those that believed that the Devourer and Sauhagin were the winning side.) would rapidly grow in numbers, while Ecclessia cut off all contact and supply ships after the civil war was over and new leadership was put in place, and few would go to the Island.

The opposing forces have reached a sort of stalemate, neither really wanting to launch a full scale attack for fear of the consequences. However, with no real military to speak of, only a select few of them possessing any real professional training, the villagers are weak, and the Sahuagin and cultists are getting more bold by the day, and to top it all off, a dragon has appeared, freezing the normally tropical island. Why is the dragon here? Whose side is it on? Will you be able to do anything about it? Find out soon.

@Gareth There is not a map, but I can get to work on making one. For other places, you can make up other nations, cities, continents, whatever. On Korthos, the main part of it is wilderness, but there is a beach (where you have crash-landed), the main village, and a small port.

For an act one, I can make some more backstory for Korthos, yes.

@Sedjwick The stat needed for spellcasting is tied to a specific class. Clerics and Druids use wisdom for their Divine magic, Warlocks, Sorcerers and Bards use Charisma as they don't really know how they make magic, they just do. Wizards and Artificers use Intelligence because they have to study magic. Skills like Arcana are more your Knowledge of the subject, not your skill in using it. For a battle mage type character, there's archetypes for those in Wizard and Warlock. Bards can also do this fairly well.
