A One Universe Roleplay

I N T R O D U C T I O N:

The world of Absolute Comics is comprised of elements from both DC Comics and Marvel Comics along with several other popular titles. How heavily mixed these elements are is dependent upon the players as the world is shaped by you and your stories. Does Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark know each other? Has Lady Shiva trained with Danny Rand? Have Thor and Superman gone toe to toe? These are questions for you to ask yourself and answer as the RP unfolds and you can share your vision.

What makes Absolute different from other sandbox comic based RPs is that the cast is constantly rotating to avoid stagnation in the IC. What this means for you is that characters can be claimed in a first come first serve manner, however you only have a certain amount of time with them before the next interested party is handed the reins. For example if Player A wanted to play Spider-Man, they would be given two weeks to post to their heart’s content as the web-head. Ideally doing a comic book length arc in this time frame. After this time has expired, the character is then handed off to the next interested player. Due to the rotating nature of the characters, continuity is going to be much more flexible, although able to be maintained between similar visions, some stories may be considered an ‘Elseworld’ if one player’s arc is too different from the majority.

Due to the nature of the RP, character submissions will not be based on traditional sheets but on 'Character Proposals'. This differs in that instead of the usual fact spill that a character sheet is based on, a Character Proposal outlines the character you're intending to play, any differences from their source material and a proposed character arc. This is so we know coming in that you have a story you want to tell with this character. Unlike other RPs where you create a character and then enter the IC for collaborative writing, Absolute Comics is based around self directed arcs. That's not to say you can't write with other players, by all means make plans with other players but it's unlikely you'll be able to do this for your first arc. Character Proposal sheets do not necessarily have to be limited to one character persay, meaning you could make a sheet for Batman and Robin or the X-Men if you wanted to. After all in the world of comics Batman is simultaneously being written by one author in the Justice League serial while another writes him in the solo title. As this is a a One Unvierse RP don't hesitate to mix the teams up a little or try out some new team ups. That said, any amalgamated characters will still be rejected as that is not the intention of this roleplay. Players will be asked to only have one 'character' at a time in order to ensure they can focus on one arc and play it out within the aforementioned time period. After their arc is completed they may swap to a new character, or stay on as the current character in the event no one has expressed interest in that character.

As previously mentioned this roleplay allows players to draw upon characters from not only the Marvel and DC Universes but also others such as Darkhorse or even Archie Comics. However manga based characters are heavily discouraged due to their incompatibility with western superhero comics. Other comic titles discouraged are those of a science fiction nature such as Star Trek, Star Wars and Transformers. Properties from outside of the Marvel and DC Universes will be judged on a case by case manner for the most part but the above limitations will be definite denials.

So in close, the purpose of this thread is obviously to both garner interest and feedback in order to see if an idea like this could fly. Please leave all comments, criticisms and concerns below and I will try to answer any questions as they come along. As Christmas is rapidly approaching, the prospective launch date for an RP like this would likely be either next week or even after New Year's.

Correct - which kind of sucks. I didn't care much for Sean McGuire's Robin Hood. Honestly the one in season 2 was better before they changed actors.

I mean...if you wanted to keep his face claim but change him around a bit (not drastically, mind you) I might be okay with it.

As long as it's not from the main cast I'm okay with differences. Like I would steer clear of Hook and Pan and the like, but the characters that have been one-shotted like Hans or The Count of Monte Cristo and the like can be open to changes.

Jonas rubbed the back of his head in frustration as he watched the scene unfold before him. This wasn't at all what he had planned. Not only did he have two hormonally charged Hyperhumans ready to brawl in the streets, he had a teenage girl on the verge of a mental breakdown. It would appear the stress of being a secret keeper was slowly eroding away at Winter's sanity, putting the girl in danger of a full blown breakdown. This trip definitely needed to bring the girl some answers and Jonas hoped by the end of it, the secrets could be revealed.

Well most of them perhaps, there were somethings these kids definitely did not need to know at this time.

"Ri..." Jonas started as he looked around for the girl only to find she was now missing. "Sebastian, go find Rita." Jonas snapped before turning to Aiden. "And you, I'd mince your words now. This hostility has to end and I won't have either one of you fanning the flames further." Taking a deep breath, Jonas lowered his tone to a more civil level before continuing. "Go take a walk, clear your head and come back with some firewood for the camp." He ordered. "It's not up for discussion." Jonas' commanding stare left no room for argument before he turned his attention elsewhere.

Looking towards Belle and Winter, Jonas moved to interject before thinking better of it. It was the best course of action to allow the group to bond without his interference. Belle and Winter might not trust him now, but it was not Jonas who had robbed the group of their memories, nor was it he who had the power to restore them. That difficult job was going to have to be up to Winter, all it would take is a little push. Hopefully physical contact with Belle would spark something. It was unfortunate that Jonas hadn't quite figured out the triggers behind Winter's abilities, but discussion of the missing subject and physical contact was bound to trigger something, if only a glimmer to make Belle come around.

"Alright, Evander, Christine and Brynn." Jonas said as he turned to the remaining members of the group. "Lets start getting the camp set up, I'm sure the majority of us are getting hungry."

While people ran to comfort Winter and to calm Aiden down, Sebastian was left to fend for himself. Extinguishing the flames that had left small burns all over his torso, Sebastian stared Aiden down as the other boy shouted threats from across the trail. But Sebastian would be ready next time, he had felt the flames, seen them shoot from Aiden's hands and while Aiden was quick to deny it and present otherwise plausible alternatives, Sebastian now knew the truth. Aiden was the firestrarter, not Lou, not Elroy, it was Aiden and Sebastian would make sure he paid for it.

Anger swelled in Sebastian's chest, turning into a beast as it clawed at the insides of his ribcage, constantly pushing to get out as it took the entirity of the teen's willpower not to give in and smash Aiden's smug face in.

"Sebastian, go find Rita."

Jonas' orders suddenly rang in his ears as Sebastian's attention was taken from Aiden and put on the group. Where exactly had Rita gone?

"Yeah, whatever," Sebastian replied. "This trip is lame anyways." He added before turning and heading back towards the parking lot. He had no doubt in his mind that Rita had probably snuck off to get in a couple drags.

Once he was out of sight of the group, Sebastian took off at his own speed. Ducking off the trail everytime he saw a path on the way back, Sebastian found no trace of Rita until he came to stop in the parking lot. A beat up muscle car was idling as Rita climbed into the passenger seat. Sebastian felt his lip curl in disgust as he recognized the driver as Kalvin, the familiar pings of jealous started to prick at Sebastian's chest with each step he took towards the car. Rita had been his before she had been Kalvin's but after she broke it off with Sebastian for a chance with the older guy. It didn't work out well for her in the end since Kalvin took it upon himself to sleep with Rita's cousin in New York, yet here she was straddling the older teen in the parking lot of Orlaith Valley.

"Rita!" Sebastian called, causing both Kalvin and Rita to turn and look like deer in headlights.

"Fuck Seb!" Rita yelled as she climbed off Kalvin and pulled her jacket over her chest. "What the fuck do you want?"

"Lehrer sent me to find you. Wants us at the campsite." Sebastian replied as he crossed his arms impatiently.

"Fuck Lehrer, and fuck school." Rita replied standing up through Kalvin's sunroof. "I'm done with Crestwood man, I'm so fucking done with this pathetic town. Kalvin and I are driving west, we're going to hit up Los Paraíso. There's nothing for me here."

"What about George?" Sebastian yelled back before pausing. "...W-what, what about me?"

"George is an unshowered douche." Rita replied, turning away as she ignored Sebastian's plea. "Look man, it's been fun but I'm out." Rita said dismissively as she slid into the passenger seat.

"Sorry little buddy, guess she chose me." Kalvin called as he spun the wheels of the car, the back tires kicking up gravel as he ripped out of the parking lot.

"Fuck that guy." Sebastian muttered as he kicked the ground. "Lehrer's not going to like this." He growled before turning back to the trail.

The fire roared as the hot dogs on the cooking rack let out the satisfying whine indicating they were cooked. Having erected a circle of tents, the campsite was fully set up by the time both Aiden and Sebastian returned. Using the firewood Aiden brought, Jonas had begun to cook dinner, a simple meal of hot dogs and reheated potato wedges. Noticing Sebastian had returned without Rita, Jonas questioned him about get the reply that she had 'left'. Not pushing further due to the teen's sullen attitude, Jonas was content to let Sebastian sit and mope by himself. At least he was staying out of trouble for the time being.

Handing the food out to each teen, Jonas took his own seat as he looked around at the group. He needed to get these teens to start working together, and that meant forcing them to be on the same time as one another.

"So after dinner, I'm thinking we can do a quick team building game before we call it a night." Jonas started as he produced a blue and red flag from his backpack. "How many of you are familiar with the game capture the flag?" He asked with a small grin.
