Works for me. If that's what you wanna do then I would just have your King announce the official start of the ball, and let the music begin.
I guess it really depends on the type of person you want your King to be.

The first questions I would ask myself is;
-Is the King a "No nonsense" kind of guy? Would he be straight to the point and make the announcement at the beginning?
-Would he still be on the straight forward side and have the courting Princes pick there brides to be first, then afterward make the announcement as a "We have one more unexpected alliance to announce" kind of thing.
-Would he make the announcement somewhere in the middle of the event as a "lets see how this effect the mood" kind of thing?
-Does he have a flair for the dramatics. Announce that there was an unexpected situation that he will explain more at the end of the ball, to create an air of curiosity and entice the guests to stay through the entire event?

If it were me I would either go for making the announcement after the pairs are made with his daughters, or I would go the dramatic route and wait until the end. But that's just me.
Hey y'all, I've finished the biggest part of my move! We're getting things settled, but I can actually breath again OMFG!!!

Glad you are getting everything all set up. If your character ends up in a box I didn't do it. Our GM did XD
April only has experience with heavily modified smaller vessels it's a risk to ride on her limited skills.
@Zora

April listened to the chatter of the others but essentially went back to minding her own business. Fiddling with the goggles on her head and the tools in her belt that was still attached to her. That was until the captain asked if any of them knew how to fly a ship. She thought for a moment as the others talked before speaking herself. "Um, I don't have extensive experience and technically any experience I do have is more on the illegal side. And they have all been smaller crafts, of the illegally modified variety. But if you are willing to take a bet on if I could get a larger vessel out of the hyperlanes then, off the record, I know how to fly a ship. If you don't want to take that chance I understand though." She rubbed the back of her neck. She had been big into modifications for the underbellies of some stations in order to actually make a name for herself after literally appearing out of nowhere in her early teens. Not to mention she had to pull some jobs in more shady rings to even get the needed papers to travel and work on various ships she had been on.
@Zora Ill still be here. I talked with Smiter we are fine.
April also has some, albeit, limited and slightly modded piloting experience from when she left Colony Station Atlas
@Smiter19

Sorry, It would appear Metal quitting would be my fault. We had a falling out. If you would rather him than me then I can bow out.
