Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

are we allowed to make our own college staff or are we only allowed to use the ones listed in the first post

Go ahead and make some, by all means. I've just been codifying the ones people have made.

Right. And that's true. But if you want me to change this, I'll just state a natural occurance that happened after the Earth battle, like how her powers weakened and how she tries to get more power or something overtime but currently at the power level mentioned in her profile. That good yeah?

Very well.
Also, Lug, the powers you see for Ghidorah are according to her RP profile. But do you want me to change the reason for her 'nerf' as well? I may have one ready if you don't sit too well with the original idea.

If the powers Ghidorah has are according to her RP profile, then she shouldn't need any nerf because her powers are already within the acceptable parameters, right? The way it's currently worded IC, it sounds like she had her full flew of powers before I asked for adjustment, and you're specifically nerfing to tone it down to what's in the character sheet.
@Lmpkio
I don't like to butt into arguments, but LMP... there are literally only humans in the college. Not ghosts, not spirits, not anything non-human. In other words, it is non-negotiable, and - in every sense of the word - impossible for Gidorah's "recruiter" to be anything but human.

I wouldn't say that this particular debate has gone on long enough to need outside involvement, though I appreciate the consideration.

*shrugs* Just to be fair, he'll never be seen again so...

That is not true I'm afraid. I'm already thinking of ways to reuse the College's stuff later on in the story for important roles. I would not be logging each new person into the Characters Tab if they were all going to be one-offs.

Oh, before I forget, there was one more thing I wanted to address. This is mostly pertaining to players whose characters required adjustment in terms of power to be considered acceptable. I would vastly prefer it if terms like 'nerf' went completely unused. It's far too meta for my taste, and the idea of magic restrictions being placed on the various contestants doesn't sit well with the narrative. Instead, just as I suggested, adjust the character itself. If you can't find an IC reason like 'Dante chooses to fight in only his robes as a testament to the fortitude of his order' or 'X forgot this certain piece of equipment in his haste of leave' or 'Y's gear is on the fritz', make it so that the character was always at that power level. This may mean the character is essentially different from the original, but that was what was agreed to.

Yeah you can say that was the main reason. Humans cant survive due to the lack of oxygen so an alien that doesn't need much oxygen or breathes something that isn't oxygen can work.

An alternative would be to outfit the College personnel in oxygen equipment.

Well since everyone was creating their own IC characters, so to be unique I decided to put an alien-creature instead. But if you want a more in-story explanation, let me deliver. The world on Ghidorah's homeland is basically inhabitable for most signs of life, after she absorbed all of the golden mana from within. Most of the Ghidorahians have gone extinct, other than Ghidorah herself, except for a few loyal followers who help her achieved her rise to power. They were spared and given as her private retainers. Ironically she's a queen... without a livable kingdom. But her reputation of her tyranny in destroying worlds simply caused many alien species who had heard of her to worship and fear her as a goddess.

Now of course, for the tornument, she will be nerfed as stated by the alien figure himself so she won't be like ripping the entire place apart...

Unless you know... what she said:

Thing is, no aliens work for the college. Only humans. A lack of oxygen can be handwaved in favor of sticking to this rule.
@Lugubrious

Ah, I think I could probably answer that (Though please correct me if I'm wrong @Lmpkio)

Assuming she knew the College reps weren't from her planet, which they aren't if I am correct, then they would be classed as "aliens", regardless of appearances. Of course, thats just me speculating.

That'd be perfectly acceptable if the picture Lmp provided was of a human, but it's of some ghostly creature that doesn't look human at all.
Finally posted! This took much longer than anticipated but alas its finally here!

It was a good one too, but there is something odd about it. What's the deal with the alien that's supposedly from the Inquisitional College? I'm curious.
@Banana I regret to say that there are a couple of issues with your post. Aside from the City of Echoes being completely empty (of normal people), nobody is starting there. Nobody has received a phylactery yet (that'll play a part in the next turn of events), and the College people don't know about the Frenzy. They're also still studying the phenomena known as Echoes, so they wouldn't tell about that, either. All contestants are already 'registered' in the Crucible thanks to the ledger. Lastly, I'll go ahead and spoil the properties of one of the Artifacts, but here's the information on the Lantern carried by the staff: it facilitates warping space through an ambiguous, vision-obscuring element, which can be rain, fog, dust, darkness, snow, foliage, and so forth. In order to be warped, a non-holder of the Lantern must be consciously following the holder into the unknown.

The Lantern is just one element of a rather expansive subsystem I simply refer to as 'items' that I am eager to introduce later on.

There's one other detail: the Inquisitional College isn't exactly of the City of Echoes. Rather, it was established after the city became the way it is, in order to 'inquire' about what happened. Before that, the building was just a sort of research center.
Some excellent posts so far! To see all the different permutations and expansions based on what little premise I put down is truly exciting.

@Lugubrious Lmp brings up a question I want to ask. Are we allowed to create secondary characters if our primary dies?

Yes, but I honestly wouldn't put any effort toward that just yet. We're only just now getting started after all.
