"Survival horror's usually single player anyways."

The two swordsmen were locked in a stalemate. The Timekeeper noted Klava's warning about some golem behind him, but he couldn't care. His attacks were deflected in a vicious cycle, any maneuvering around the larger blade failed again and again. He couldn't afford to care, he could work with stalling until something happened. And well, it did. Just not in his favor. The boy only had what felt like a second to realize why Betty went on the defense, and brought his weapon up to block the corrupted esper's counterattack. Admittedly, he had forgotten about Bob. Or maybe he thought the Maiden could handle the robotic pain in the neck.

He was given one hell of a reminder when he got slammed against the aformentioned Bob. Fable didn't have time to react to his spine possibly being broken when he was knee'd in the gut soon after. Whether or not by survival instincts, he mustered whatever strength he had in pushing Betty back, a tight grip on Aeterna. Yet despite his efforts, the smaller esper was trumped by the other's strength. Madness and Wrath stared eachother in the eye, Fable only glaring back in response to Betty's taunt. But there was also a hint of sadness he tried to bury. Why was he still holding back? Anger be damned, why didn't he want to hurt her?

Why did any of this pain him now? When he hurt Mary, or killed Jan, he only spared regrets after it was said and done. So how was this any different?

The boy's thoughts were interrupted by Bob preparing to detonate the area. Oh right, they managed to kill Jane. Though he'd assume a bomb being set off would be saved for late or post-operation. Perhaps he played too many video games. Fable overheard the weird ghost dude's plans of stalling his team by himself. Great. Take down one stupidly strong idiot and another takes his place. The boy hissed in pain as Betty's weapon dug into his shoulder in her escape. He slid down to the ground, wiping away any pained tears to see what was left of the red-haired lady approaching him. His expression blanked out into indifference. He took a moment to breathe, took a moment to decide if he should heal up and stay, or to blink and go after Betty and the remaining pyromancers.

...Perhaps Klava's original plan could still work.

Part of him didn't want to leave the others behind. But someone had to get ahead, go after their fleeing opponents. Fable looked the undead Red in the eye, and glared at her in disgust. "Piss off." He growled, firing a lightning bolt to blink behind the zombie, and sprinted on ahead with a hand covering his wounded shoulder.

So she wasn't too far gone, huh?

The Timekeeper's eyes widened when the thralled violinist responded. The moment of hesitance gave him enough time to free himself from her grip. As he stood back up, he unwillingly stumbled back a couple of steps, the feeling of disorientation not yet fading. A hand on his head to help regain his focus, he heard Betty's scornful remarks. He frowned. Even if the boy could shrug it off as the effects of Justin's control affecting her mental state,

I didn't know until...

or her being angry at him regardless of anything,

I-It's not my real name! But-!!

It still pained him. He couldn't bring himself to say anything with the lump that formed in his throat. That regret would soon be accompanied by fear, once the girl underwent some sort of transformation. Betty was an Esper? Since when?! No, it had to be some Dark Blessing bullshit, right?? Right?! But if that wasnt the case... Fable didn't want to think about what happened before all this. He had other things to worry about. The boy's eyes widened once more, afixed to the giant blade that made Aeterna look like a fucking twig in comparison. On instinct, he started backing up, unaware that he was trembling. The Timekeeper flinched as he and Jane ended up halting each other's retreats. And of course Betty was preparing to attack.

..."Coward" huh?

Maybe she was right. His cowardice was the reason the both of them were in this mess. And his cowardice continued to restrain him now. Monsters were one thing, but this was just...chaos. He didn't want to hurt anyone, he didn't want anyone to get hurt.

Too late for that now though, isn't it?

Very well then.

Fuck this.

"I'M NOT RUNNING!" Fable's fearful expression quickly shifted to one of rage. He ducked under the blade before it could strike him. Giving himself a second boost of speed, he sprinted forward, with the full intent to overwhelm Betty with attacks and to just knock her down long enough to listen, damnit!! Tetrad was too busy on the other side of the fight, he'd just have to stall long enough for the harlequin to make her move. Whatever he couldn't block, he'd just have to tank it and heal later.
Bee and Puppycat's cute, I guess.

- Finn and Oliver

...Or maybe not.

Watching the girl dish out quick and efficent brutality to their opposition, Finn's charge slowed to a stop. Did...she really need their help? Maybe to burn the monsters' hearts? They were down to two left, but it seemed she had it handled. The boy furrowed his brows. Guess he can call off his birds?

Not yet.

As it turns out the remaining wendigoes decided to split the work load, one charging towards the two. Well, more specifically, Oliver. Monster and monster boy locked their focus on each other, the latter unphased by two of his clones fading, unfortunately caught in the creature's volly of icicles. He can always call them back after a short while. Finn on his end managed to dodge in time before he got skewered himself. Even if he's sturdier than an average duplicate, getting an icicle stabbed in say, your shoulder would be a hell of a hinderance.

Oliver quickly reloaded and calmly aimed his rifle at the last wendigo, but instead of aiming for it's heart, he aimed to stagger it by shooting it in the head with incendiary bullets. If that wasn't enough to down it, well, atleast there was someone to help with that.

As if Fortuna decided to throw them a bone, a reinforcment specialist called the Angel of Hope appeared to give all three a little pick me up. "Hey-o, free stat boost!!" That was when the duo decided to be a bit more thorough. Tapping into the powers of a flame elemental, Finn decided to fry the wendigo that targeted Oliver with a blast of flames, until there was nothing but ashes remaining. The latter and his clones meanwhile readied some vials with flammable chemicals, aiming to throw them at the other three's (at the very least) hearts. Who knows if the damn things can regenerate?

Albedo @Lugubrious, Linkle @Gentlemanvaultboy, Papyrus @Dark Cloud

Huh. Looks like both of them decided to follow. While Frisk trusted Albedo to know what he was doing, only giving a slight shrug in response to his swifter approach, they were expectantly concerned about Papyrus. Poor guy was already spooked enough on the way back, and though they only got a spoken description of their target, who knows what they'll be up against? They really didn't want anyone else getting hurt...

Frisk mentally knocked the grim thought away. They have a means of defense, so atleast they won't be a total deadweight. The child lept down into the dark depths after Albedo, but they mentally cursed themselves for not grabbing a light beforehand, their soul didn't exactly glow either. Though before they asked themselves how they would be able to fight with the abyss staring at them, it turns out the Alchemist knew magic. Albedo had summoned a peculiar flower to act as a lantern, revealing wHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!

It looked human, it had a body structure a monster could obviously have, but even Frisk didn't know what to do about it. Seeing that Linkle was holding out well, they were prepared to toss her crossbows back to her. An attempt to reassure her that Papyrus was a friend got interupted before the child even spoke, the Dollmaker had thrown the Skullgirl at the group.

Can they even reason with this...thing??

While Albedo caught Linkle, Papyrus took an attempt to restrain the creature, wanting to talk things out instead. Frisk's expression cracked into a frown. They really need to explain once things died down. While the Dollmaker was stalled, albeit shortly, the child stepped over to Linkle and passed one crossbow back to her. With one hand free, they could swap their soul trait from it's normal crimson to a kind green, thus being able to produce a pale blue barrier out in front of them. They passed the second crossbow, then focused their attention straight at the incomming creature.

The child watched in honest awe as the Alchemist made quick work in incapacitating the Dollmaker. As the more experienced of the group prepared to finish it off, Frisk thought to themselves.

This thing can't be reasoned with. It can't escape alive, as much as thoughts like that make the child's stomach turn. Though for it's execution, they'll leave it to someone else.

"...Do what you must." Frisk nodded to the two, then looked back to Papyrus, shield still raised. "Might wanna stay by me."

"Huh. Must've overestimated how many there were here."
"Eh, we'll call it a lucky break!"
- Finn and Oliver

Soon as he was dropped off, Finn ran over to catch up with Oliver. "I thought they were busy attacking the hotel. Where are they going??" He wondered out loud. In response, the phantom glanced back with a shrug.

"Well I dunno where else could be important besides the... Hang on," He paused, taking a moment to contact Valerie. "Oi Val, can you confirm if they're running to the Train Station??"

"Unfortunately yes, they seem to be going after areas with high civillian counts. Lots of them." Valerie explained. Though at the mention of what the demented spirits were after, the boys decided to pick up the pace.

"Must've went beserk out of hunger. Is there anyone fending them off?" Finn asked next, as they neared their destination.

"I think...yeah, there's already a magical girl there. Looks like she's holding out pretty well, but I'd hurry if I were you."

On that note, the two had ran inside to see what she ment. A purple haired girl, and what they quickly recognized as her duplicates were fending off a surprisingly small group of wendigoes. She had no weapon on her, yet managed to not only keep up with the hellish spirits' speed, but to knock one down with a kick to the skull as well. Gotta respect the hustle. Not taking any chances with the aformention creature, Oliver aimed his rifle at the downed deer-thing's heart and fired a couple of rounds. That should leave three remaining.

The duo was finally spurred to act when said remaining turned their full attention to the girl, now held captive in one's jaws. "Yeah, that ain't gonna slide here!" With a whistle, Oliver summoned his own clones. They quickly took to position, and opened fire, paying careful mind not to accidentally hit their might-be ally OR Finn.

The latter meanwhile aimed for the one holding the girl itself. He really didn't want to send any of his animals against them, atleast not yet. So letting his beast magic boost his strength and speed, he ran up behind it, intending to stab it in the heart.

If it even still beats, that is. If that doesnt kill them, atleast it'd drive their attention away from her.

...Were those crows always there?

Once she saw that Justine was out of her room, Maura's brows rose. "Ah, you're up! Come, I'll get you some breakfast!" Maybe it was to get her mind out of the proverbial gutter. She looked through the kitchen and even through the Cradle itself for anything that might seem good. Eventually she just settled for some waffles with extra toppings as an option. "Was tempted to grab some bento boxes, but that's more for a mid-day lunch. Aleast I think so." She noted.

Though as Justine prepared to head out, she also noted something was...off about her. More than usual. Maura was tempted to ask if something was wrong, but she knew better. Neither Justine or, hell, Finn heard anything from Sanngridr in a while about the past-sinner's sister. She didn't show any signs of recorrupting either. Hm. Maybe she could check on her memories later.

When Justine waited for her okay, Maura gave her a small smile. "Just be careful, alright?" she told her.

Once she left, the witch thought to herself with a chuckle. "Heh. Maybe Finn and Justine aren't so different from each other."

"Like Alice chasing down a white rabbit."

By some luck, the Timekeeper managed to bypass both flame and steel nuisance and found himself in the back of enemy lines. He hopped down from the wall, and pushed his goggles back up once Betty saw him. He frowned as she snarled at him. Concidering the circumstances, it wasn't surprising if she only saw a threat in him, and not the boy that unwillingly failed her. If there was still a glimpse of her humanity trying to resist, if that a part of her scorned him, he didn't care. He probably deserved it. He couldn't waste this chance.

Whether or not his melody was still active, he hurried over to the violinist, gulping down any nervousness he felt. The Timekeeper dared not to raise his weapon, but instead held a careful arm out, as if he was trying to calm down a feral beast. To reassure. The boy overheard Klava calling out another order, and something crossed his mind.

Wait, aren't all the pyros distra-

As if he payed with his own foolishness, Fable forgot about the red-haired pyromancer stalking the back of the cellar until she fired a firebolt square in his stomach. As if the equivalent of getting punched wasn't good enough, he didn't have time to reorient himself before Betty slammed his head onto the ground.

"Hrk?!?" Fortunately the trauma to his skull wasn't severe enough to knock him outright, but the resulting dizzyness felt worse than when he was knocked aside by a giant crab. As Betty prepared to slam his head back down, Fable instinctively grabbed her arm and attempted to pry himself out of her grip.

"B-Betty!! Stop, it's-" His pleas were cut short upon impact. Again. "It's me, Fabl-" And again. Fable couldn't bring himself to fight her. He wouldn't bring himself to fight any of the thralls in fact. But he still wanted to survive this, damnit! Running on whatever adrenaline he had, he quickly weaved another single melody. And if he somehow managed to kick the girl away from him, a couple of ribbons of lightning would hold her back like chains.

Was there any way to snap her out of it, without the use of lethal force?? The redhead he'd have to worry about at some point, but there were too many things going on to keep proper track of. What a headache.
@Dark Cloud
