Cyler watched Leilani as they made their way out of the park, his eyes curiously looking over her as she browsed the pictures he had taken for the night. He would have loved to come out before sunset to capture more colors and dynamic lighting, but the sun had become one of the biggest obstacles he had to deal with. Years ago, Cyler had loved to spend the day out in the park or just the streets of LA walking around and shooting his camera. Now he couldn't go outside before sunset because it bothered him too much. Some of the clan said he would get used to it and build up a tolerance with time, but he doubted that.

It put a restriction on his pictures, but at least it forced him to be more creative with what he shot. Lights, for example, were fun to play around. He could always set the velocity to seconds and paint pictures with light. Oh! Paint!

Cyler's eyes light up as the idea struck him right between the eyes. "Thank you, I'm glad you like them. I don't sell them, but I am hoping to open a studio here." He smiled as quickly looked back at her. "Uh- hey, what if you helped me with some pictures?" His voice carried some excitement with it and his steps picked up a bit. "I have always wanted to go those really cool looking pictures where you can paint with light." He took his camera back and looked down at it. He hadn't been excited to try something new in a while. He didn't want to overwhelm Leilani about it, but it looked like she could use inspiration or maybe a distraction. Cyler knew the feeling all too well so he was hoping he could help her.

Maybe get her creative juices flowing.

"The Pit had nice lights on the outside, we can try there first." Cyler hung his camera over his shoulder again. Since the town of Ember Grove wasn't that big, they would be able to get to The Pit in just a few minutes. They could always run and get there faster, but Cyler enjoyed walked slowly and enjoying the scenery of the quiet town. If both of them were humans, their little walk would not have been safe for either of them. Even now, as vampires, the risk of running into a hunter was low- but never zero.

Lilith watched the older man with narrowed eyes. He smelled like a wet dog. An old wet dog dressed in a nice suit. She hung her bag over her shoulder and placed a hand over her hip with a playful smile on her lips. She had met werewolves in the past, and while she detested most of them because well, it was natural for vampires to dislike them, this old man looked like any ordinary old man. Expect he was standing in front of a night club riddled with vampires and had painted a picture of him holding a neon cane with a ton of golden chains. Just the image of this old dude dressed like a pimp with a glowing neon cane made Lilith's eyes soften and throw her head back in a laugh.

"It was my fault- anyway, I'd pay to see you in that sort of outfit, Monsieur." She didn't even protest when the man offered the mint from her pocket. It was much appreciated as she popped it into her mouth, eyes still on the older man. Was he looking for another place? What another place could he be looking for if he had come to The Pit? Perhaps another club for the elderly or a strip club? Dirty old man. She thought.

The Pit wasn't a strip club, but she could always offer a lap dance. She didn't care if the was some old dude, or if he was a werewolf. Honestly, Lilith saw this whole thing as an experience and an opportunity. Old people had money, right? "I take it you were looking for some kind of strip club, eh?" Her smiled turned into more of a smirk as she got closer to the man. "The Pit isn't the sort of place, but I can surely show you what passes as fun these days." She winked at the man, offering a glance at her pink and golden eyeshadow.

Somewhere to her left, she heard the series of clicks. Ah, the fun has just started. She thought as she slipped her hand through the older man's and began to lead him into the club. "You can call me Coral." She said into the man's ear as the music from the inside got louder the closer they got to the entrance of the club. "We can use the back exit since I'm sure you heard too." Lilith didn't have to explain it to the older man. She was sure he had heard the very familiar clicks of a loading gun- but just to make it more interesting, she glanced over her shoulder and locked eyes with the man sitting in his car. She stuck out her tongue at him just as they walked past the door and into the chaos that was The Pit.

Lilith glanced over at Aria, smiling at her brightly as the music from the band started to fill the air around them. She wanted Aria to be comfortable around her, and while she understood that it could take some time sometimes she wished she could just make Aria feel safe around her. Lilith had struggled like Aria had before in previous relationships but at the time the person she had been with had been abusive and had taken advantage of her insecurities. Lilith had been pretty miserable trying to make something up for someone that didn't even care. Lilith didn't want that for anyone, especially Aria- the girl that kept Lilith up at night.

"If the band isn't hitting that 'Aria Awesome Vibe' we are deff out." She grinned as she followed Aria to the grassy slope and sat next to her. Lilith leaned closer and let her head rest on Aria's shoulders, hands folded in front of her as the watched the band. "I can't wait too." She smiled a bit, pink creeping up to her cheeks. It was still hard to believe that anyone would write a song about her.

"Don't know but it is pretty romantic to me." Lilith whispered, looking over at Aria. Her hand slipped around the other girl with a grin. Her fingers pressed lightly into Aria's side to tease a small tickle as her smile grew. "Now we have to see if the band lives up to your standards, my lady."

"Honestly, like I don't even know why we bother to hunt. Like, that lady has a whole human farm... Yeah! Straight out of a movie." Lilith held her phone between her ear and her shoulder as she walked. Her hands were busy fishing out her fake ID in her bag. Of course, her favorite place to dance had to ask for IDs. Didn't the owner know that most of the clientele were a bunch of horny vampires and ugly ass hunters? Witches and Werewolves attended more, but The Pit always seemed to attract more vampires. Maybe it was the whole vibe that was ripped right out of an Underworld film.

The voice on the other side brought Lilith back to reality as June, a girl from the clan, commented on the need for more humans. Lilith just rolled her eyes at the comment as she pulled out her pink wallet and flipped it open. "Yeah yeah, I get that it's nice, but it's soooooo cliche. I've seen some of you guys dress in nothing but black. Add some fucking color in there, won't you? Makes me feel like I'm living with a bunch of depressive goths- and not the cool ones." She was about to put away her wallet when she suddenly bumped into a humanoid figure. Lilith's wallet and purse went flying into the air as she gasped loudly. She stood there staring at the gray hair, full gray beard, and golden eyes.

"I'll call you back." Lilith said into her phone before pressing the red button and pocketing it. "Yo, old dude, don't stand in the middle of the sidewalk." She rolled her eyes and leaned down to pick up her stuff, glaring intensely at the cane. What an asshole. Sure, Lilith may not have seen him, but who stands in the middle of the sidewalk outside the entrance to a club? Assholes, that's who.

"The city hall is that way," She pointed over her shoulder with her thumb. "It's bingo night, so you'll probably still catch that." Lilith said as she shoved her wallet back in the bag, eyes still narrowed as she examined the man. Really? A fedora? Well, he was old, and some old dudes did look pretty fancy with them on. If he had been any younger, she would have probably walked past him, so she forgave that little fashion choice.

The conversation from the three nights ago was still fresh in Henri's mind. Raiden had sneaked into his room with the help from Ryn, who Henri was rightfully upset with. While Henri had initially tried to avoid the conversation, Raiden had seemed to be fed up with the dodging and giving him the cold shoulder for the whole week that he had to corner Henri in his room. While they talked, but mostly argued, Henri couldn't shake off the feeling of all of it breaking down around him. Raiden had told him he wanted to be with Henri, but at the same time go along with his betrothal with Beatrice. Just the thought made the younger prince fume with anger and confusion.

After that night, he had shut himself in his room with the only people allowed to visit him were Gen or Leo. Again, Ryn attempted to sneak into his room, but Henri told her to go away in the meanest and nastiest voice he could muster- which wasn't very frightening. While he used the excuse of being busy with work for trade deals, so his brother stayed out of his room, Elias always made some story to barge in and bother Henri. Always probing him with questions about Raiden and his Gen- who he had started to ask too many questions about. The thought of Elias having a crush of Gen made him want to punch the guy.

Gen had been too good for him the past week. She had stayed at his side, and he's confined with her. Told her about everything that had happened since the night at the ball to the argument he had with Raiden. It was clear who she was showing more favor towards, but Henri still couldn't make up his mind. He had tried to look for Chris once, but it seemed like the man was determined to avoid him. Henri didn't blame Chris for wanting to stay away from him. He had made a stupid decision after all.

The day of the fair came slowly for Henri. He had woken up to Elias' protests of clothes and, "oh, what would the French princess think if I asked her to ride with me?" Henri was tired of his brother within the first five minutes and tried his best to indulge him in his ramblings to get him out of his room so he could get changed. He had agreed to get a car for himself and Gen for the ride, and he didn't want to be late. After he changed into a tropical kind of outfit, he hurried off to the entrance of the palace- forgetting his cigarette case. There he made sure to get one of the empty SUVs and quickly sent Gen a text, telling her of the secured ride. All he had to do was wait and hope that no one else jumped in the car with him.

Imani had not been spared from her duties one bit. She still had to keep up her studies about her country, her trades, allies, and potential new allies. While she kept to herself most of the time, she tried to make room for some of her newly found friends. Phillip and Alejandro were always a joy to be around. She had wished to spend more time with Gen, but the other woman seemed to be busy with a prince named Henri. Although worked consumed most of her time, Leo always found a way to make her way into Imani's busy schedule and drag her out to meet other royals in the palace.

Imani didn't mind Leo dragging her out of the confines of her room to be more social. She enjoyed the woman's company and always liked to talk to her about all sorts of things she could do with her hair, but the past week had been a bit weird. Something didn't feel right about Leo, and no matter how much she tried to ask the other woman just dodged her questions and changed the subject. Imani knew it had something to do with her mother, but the only person she knew that could help was a certain Hellencia. Imani wasn't super fond of the prince with his cheery persona, but she'd have to ask him for some help if Leo continued to act like this.

"Ready?" Leo stood by Imani's door, her hands resting on her hips. Her hair had been braided into two french braids tied with red ribbons. Her dress had taken her a while to choose because one, it was going to be hot, and two she wasn't sure if she wanted to wear a dress or some jeans. In the end, Leo settled with the dress and the big airy sleeves, because fucking sleeves were amazing!

Imani was surrounded by a mess of clothes, shoes, and hats. Now that she could finally wear what she wanted, all of her clothes were all sorts of colorful colors and interesting textures. Today she settled with something more simple and casual since the fair didn't sound like a very formal event- and one that would offer much shade. "Ready, just looking for my hat. She said without looking at Leo. She wanted to find her hat, get out of the rooms, and meet up with Phillip by the front as soon as she could.

"This one? The one separated from the mess? Leo walked over and picked up a wide brim hat as she smiled at Imani. "Nervous? Is it your first time going to this sort of thing?" She walked over and handed Imani her hat.

"Yeah, you know how it was back with my father, and now in Massylii, I have so much work to do." Imani thanked Leo and took her hat. She pushed her box braids over her shoulders and put on the hat with a smile. "I just hope I don't get lost or make a fool of myself in the public, don't want to end up in those stupid tabloids-" She shouldn't have mentioned that. A-Anyway, let's start heading down. Phillip must be waiting."

Leo only smiled, nodding a bit. "You'll be alright, don't worry too much." She motioned Imani to follow her out of the room. The past week had been a bit hard on her. She had tried to drown herself in work but ultimately ended up just hanging out with Chris or anyone that would have her. She'd tried to get drunk and just leave her phone behind so she wouldn't hear it ringing every second of the day.

By the time they arrived at the front of the palace, a few royals were already gathered around. Imani was nervously fumbling with her shirt looking for Phillip or Alejandro, hoping to see them before they saw her. "Are you going to ride with us?" She glanced at Leo, offering a small smile. She wouldn't mind having Leo along. She could introduce her to Phillip and let her in on the whole fake engagement thing. Leo would understand the whole situation- and maybe show her that Imani was not actually going to marry a guy.

"Don't know yet, I might ride with Chris. I want to talk to him about some stuff." Leo said, pulling out her personal phone to send Chris a quick message, asking him if he was already inside of a car. "You sure you want me to ride with your cute prince?' She said in a teasing manner, elbowing Imani and wiggling her eyebrow.

Imani laughed a bit but pulled back to look at Leo. She really needed Leo to understand the whole thing, but she didn't want to tell her everything without Phillip knowing about it too. "It's not like that," Imani looked around, finally spotting Phillip's familiar face. "You are welcomed to ride with us." She smiled before rushing over to Phillip.

Leo blinked, unsure what Imani meant by her words. She watched her friend hurry off to the guy she was supposed to marry. Unlike her, Imani and Phillip had both agreed on their betrothal. Leo couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of her friend for having the option to choose- or at least that is what she thought. They both looked happy to see each other. She shrugged off the feeling in her chest and began to look for the car Chris was in.

Leilani was the newest member of the clan, one that Cyler hadn't seen around much. He understands why, and he understood what she might be feeling, so he offered an easy smile as a greeting. "Hey there, I thought I recognized you." He shifted his camera to the side, grin still in place. "Just a few photos here and there, might need a second opinion on some of these." He offered, lifting the camera a bit. "Want to take a look at them?" He had only gotten back into photography in the past weeks, and he was still rusty. He found that seeing details to certain objects came easier to him, but his colors were still off- though the whole thing about not breathing did help when he wanted to make those streaky photos with the lights! A plus of being a vampire; steady hands and no breathing. Boy, how could it get better than this?

It had taken Cyler a while to get used to not breathing, or not having to blink, or everything really. The weirdest part had been the food. He had loved to eat, but now he couldn't even swallow a candy without feeling sick- then the whole blood thing? It had taken him almost two months to get over the fact he was drinking human blood because animal blood was not good. Not one bit. He still had to take his blood rations in a thermal or in a container where he couldn't see the red.

"We can walk around town? We still have time before the sun rises, and I really want to take some pictures of all the clubs and bars are. They got so many cool lights and stuff." Cyler didn't notice the Leilani's attempt at a joke. Instead, he offered her his camera with another grin. "You can critique my photos while we walk- they won't be good, so I'm warning you now."

"Ah, shall we head to the ball first?" Lilith kept their little scene going, adding the most stereotypical British accent she could muster. She stifled her laughter as she locked her truck and led the way to the path. "We can go to see the band first. I think they're just doing love song covers, I think." She mirrored Aria's shrug. Lilith wasn't so sure what to do in the park other than walking around and maybe having a picnic but neither of them had brought food. "If it gets too corny we kick them out and you can play something for the audience." Lilith teased, giving her hand a small squeeze.

Lilith looked at Aria, a smile spreading when she said she'd either awkwardly say thank you or hideaway. A trademark from Aria and Lilith loved it. She laughed a bit, stepping closer until their shoulders bumped. It was nice hearing her say that she would stay the same. Often people let the slightest taste of fame change them so Lilith was glad that Aria wasn't that kind of person.

"Oh? Pink hair?" Lilith's eyebrows perked up but she didn't make a big deal out of it so she wouldn't make Aria nervous about it. "Can't wait to hear it!" And then tease her about it just a bit- and then give Aria all the kisses because who wrote songs for their girlfriends like that? She almost had to look away to hide the blush creeping up on Lilith's face. How was Aria this good?

OUTFIT OF THE DAY:

Alejandro glanced down at the flowers the man was holding, eyebrows arching up just the slightest. Ah, so it was one of those. "Perfect!" He brought back his customer-service smile and motioned to the cash register. "If you are done, I can check you out- if not feel free to look around. We also have catalogs you can look at-" A young man walked past them, dressed in jeans and a black shirt withe the flower shop's logo on his back. He was carrying a large sun flower arrangement, it looked small around his heavily tattooed arms. "Ahem- anyway, we have other options you can look at by the counter."

With another smile, he looked at Siobhan. "You too, feel free to wonder around the front of the shop. If you want to take pictures of anything in particular just let me now if I can help." He needed to keeps tabs on her and make sure she didn't try to sneak behind the counter like the journalist almost had. Jesus, Alejandro should have just said no to the lady and keep his piece of mind.

All of this trouble and he still had the rest of the day to look forward to. Great.

Click. Click. Click.

The sound of the shutter from his camera filled the air around Cyler. The night was quiet on this side of town, with only the chirping of the crickets and the shutter going off. Nights like these, where he walked alone along the paths of the park until the sun rose that reminded him of his life back in Los Angeles. He'd often go out during the night with Ben, both sporting their cameras as they walked along the streets shooting anything that looked pretty. Ben always had a preference to shoot lights, any kind of lights. He'd see the perfect shot where Cyler could not, and Ben would show him to see things his way- to find the beauty when it was hidden beneath the ugly of Los Angeles.

Click.

Cyler looked down at the photo, the light from the light post illuminated the bench next to it. It might have been an interesting photo if he had cropped it correctly. Maybe move slightly more to the right? Would Ben do that? Would he call him, amor, and guide him until he saw the perfect picture? Make him see the little details. Ben had pushed Cyler out of his comfort zone to photographs other things other than nature. They had lived in LA, and nature was limited in the city- so Cyler began to photograph people. Street photography had become his favorite that he would convince Ben to go out every week with him to just photograph random strangers out on the streets.

It had all gone when he had been turned. Everything. Cyler was no longer Cyler but just a shell, an empty shell with nothing to offer to the world. Ben hadn't been there to help him anymore. There wasn't anyone to push him to the streets with his camera and just shoot. Luckily, Cyler had slowly remembered to be himself again. It had been a precess- still was one.

"I wonder how he's doing." Cyler looked up from his camera, his fingers gripping the equipment loosely. He often wondered what Ben was doing, how he had taken the news of everything- what his siblings were doing. It would be so easy to pick up a phone and look them up, contact them and tell them he was fine. That he was alive and that they could meet again- but then Cyler would remember that if they knew they'd deem him a demon, a devil, something that wasn't supposed to exist. With a shake of his head, Cyler began to walk again along the path. He couldn't think of them like that. He had to move on.

Cyler stopped walking when he noticed a figure walking out to the field in the park. He tilted his head, curious about the person, and raised his camera. He fixed the settings, fingers moving with ease over the buttons of the camera before he shot. The figure was female. Cyler continued to watch her as she sat down and pulled out what seemed like a notebook from her bag.

Click. Click.

She sat there for a while, and Cyler watched until the woman pulled a familiar contained from her bag. "Ah." He couldn't help his feet as he began to walk towards the woman. He remembered her now.
