I would love a modern NRP.
<Snipped quote by The Spectre>
That is a very large question, Spectre. But here is my brief observations based on my time there and what I’ve noticed, and I by no means am innocent as I was just as involved for a large amount of time.

Alright, I am going to respond to every point that you made since I have been in that discord for a while. And I know about the blacklist that you are talking about.

  • An emotional outrage due to Ruby’s pre-moderator behavior that led for members to call for Ruby’s demotion. Statements like “I have plans.”, “Ruby isn’t going to be punished?” among other things created the precedent to inform staff of what appeared to be the beginnings of a witch hunt.

And that's a fair point. Several members (including me) were calling for Ruby's demotion because of her actions. And I don't think that it was bad. People were rightfully upset by Ruby's action and demanded that she was punished. It sounds fair to me. It isn't bad to ask why the staff isn't doing anything about the whole Ruby situation. Do you think it's bad?

  • Normalizing combative and antagonistic behavior that has influenced the actions of several minors on the site.

Wait, what? I hope that you have some examples that directly links to Valhalla? I can understand if you are talking about Grim but it sounds like you are talking about other people besides Grim. I think that everyone on the server won't want to normalize bad behavior on minors. Plus, I am not a minor. I am nineteen years old, just in case you think that I am one. And @Nytem4re is doing a good job of explaining it for me so I don't have to write more.

  • Gossiping about members in a rather deplorable manner, fixating on members rather than simple venting.

Some users do treat members harshly because they have reason to do so. But, we haven't never talked shit about them beyond our server. We have formed our own opinions on several based on proof. Please tell me an example where someone was targeted by members of Valhalla.

  • Such behavior leaking onto the site in the cases of Grimhildr’s departure and those who involved with the community created accounts to circumnavigate the rules of the guild to re-post said thread which was locked and deleted for significant reasons.

That whole situation was Grim's doing. None of us made Grim do what they did. Almost everyone disagreed with Grim on what they did and said; but, that doesn't mean that they didn't raised several good points. Like what I said in the private message to Mahz:

"...In that thread, he highlighted important matters about the staff members including you. However, the thread was immature and contained statements like: "deadbeat fuckface" and "i hope you all die." The staff members banned him and removed the thread because he broke the rules. I agree that the thread was rude and inflammatory but it raised points that should not be ignored..."

At the end of the day, Grim is their own person. They can do whatever they want to and no-one can stop them.

  • Hosting a 'blacklist' describing users on the site people were discouraged with due to various reasons; essentially normalizing ostracizing people of the community.

Yes, you are right about the blacklist. The server used to have a blacklist where we had a list of users to not trust. However, they were only used for roleplaying purposes. They listed users who had caused drama on purpose, left roleplays without any explanation, and so on. We didn't make falsely accused anyone and we always provided a link to back our claims. However, the blacklist doesn't exist anymore. Odin removed it since no-one used it. If you want to ask him why he made a blacklist in the first place, then go ahead because I don't know why.

  • Influencing community politics in a problematic manner.

Like I said earlier, please name one thing that we have influenced. I agree with what Nytem4re said. I think you are trying to upset someone so the thread can be locked. Especially with statements like "Valhalla causes minors to do and say bad things!!!" I don't want the thread to be locked at all and upset Cyndyr, who wants this thread to be peaceful and open for discussion. So, please stop baiting people into writing long rant posts. It will not get us anywhere and it will just get this thread locked.

EDIT: Fixed somethings that I missed.

It’s a third party chat that takes membership from this website, influences this community, and therefore doesn’t really exist in its own vacuum. It was brought up because it add context to certain events that transpired that led to the point of which we are now at. It's a complex situation. Relevance can be argued for or against, but just wanted to clear up where I fall on the question.

I am sorry but you believe that it influences the community? How? It is just a server where members of the guild gather to talk about staff. And it's also a place where we can talk about anything and everyone without any worries of getting banned. You made it a big deal when you leaked chatlogs to the staff because you were worried about Ruby. Hell, I haven't really seen everyone wanting Ruby to be banned for the site. Many of them just want Ruby (and Nutts) to be punished for their actions by staff members. Sadly, their actions have been defended by other staff members.

In short, I don't agree with you that Valhalla has enough power to influence the site. If you believe it does, then please explain to me why you think that.

If you thought my earlier post was vitriolic I implore you to reconsider your knowledge of the meaning of that word, but fear not -- I'll educate you on its meaning right now. Many of the points raised in this thread are valid. Yours are not. I don't appreciate your sensationalism and I'd prefer if you just keep out of the conversation entirely if you can't manage a reasonable level of discourse...

...What the fuck are you talking about? Do you have the slightest idea how the internet works? And are you seriously implying that he go read a book written about war to learn how to administrate a hobbyist internet forum?

Just because @RWBY Spectre presented his points in an untasteful manner doesn't mean that he can't be a part of the discussion. I understand that you would be upset if someone attacked your friend (Mahz) like that; but, we should look at it with a clear mind. RWBY Spectre was just saying that Mahz should be more active while all of this is going on. He clearly didn't know that Mahz was seriously sick and he was only suggesting you to read a book to have a "positive attitude" based on the comment that RWBY Spectre had quoted. I don't agree on how he presented it; however, it doesn't mean he should be shun.

He has every right to be apart of the discussion. You should already know that since you have earned Co-Admin by being respectful of other peoples' opinions. No matter how much you disagree with them.

I do have a question for you, @Sherlock Holmes. Why aren't you active enough with the community? Based on my time here, I have only seen you on to do your job as moderator. I can understand if you are too busy with work or school to be more active. It would be nice to see you spending more time with the community while you aren't doing your jobs. Then again, I am not here to demand you to be more active. It is just a suggestion/question after all.

And I also have some questions for @Kangaroo. Why did you come back from your retirement? I could understand if you came back to hang out with the other users; but, why did you accept your old moderator position? Aren't you worried that you will be inactive again like last time (before you announced your retirement)? I am not trying to sound like an ass. I am just worried. And one more thing, did Hank approached you and asked if you wanted to be a moderator again? Or did the opposite happen?

EDIT: Fixed up some minor errors.

I am currently on my phone so please deal with any mistakes that I have made. I decide that it's time for me to join the discussion by revealing the private message that I sent to Mahz during the event. I am posting it because, in my opinion, Mahz has done nothing to address this situation and didn't do anything he said he would do. I also want to express my thoughts and opinions on several issues since I was there at the beginning and a part of the discussion. I stand by any statements that I said to Mahz in the letter and have no regrets. I am only worried that I might get banned because of what I said.

However, I am not looking to stir up anything or create drama. I think that it's a perfect time to release the private message since we are talking about the whole thing again. I am willing to respond to any constructive criticism of the letter. So, here is the letter that I sent to Mahz and his response.

Can't wait until @Ace of Hearts is ban for this site for being a shitty person in general.
I currently have no internet at my house because our last internet provider was shit. I am typing this up at my local Starbucks. Anyway, I am still interested in the roleplay but I won't be on a lot since I lack internet at my house. I don't know when I will get my internet back but I will notify you guys as soon as possible.
Well, I have posted my first IC post in months.

Sorry for taking so long to write one simple letter to everyone. You know how it goes. I am busy finishing off the Germans with other important military fellows. Hell, I ended up at a party down at some English pub before we left for France. It was fun to celebrate and hang out with the others before our work began. Anyway, I have safely arrived at France with all of my limbs intact. I felt like writing this letter to tell y'all that I am still alive and well. And I got the letter about Joseph. I can't believe that he is growing up so fast. Felt like ages since I last saw him. I hope that he still remembers Uncle Clifford when I come back home.

Anyway, I am feeling a lot better that I have wrote this short letter. Also, the beaches of Normandy is a sight to see. Amazing to see the place where hundreds of people died during the D-Day invasion. Thankfully, this war might be over in the matter of months and I can finally come home. Good luck and stay safe while working in the factories.

One more thing, I will be sure to take some pictures of villages in France for the couple (I am talking to you Julia and Wyatt).

Your pal,
Clifford Cox.

I am hopeful that today's operations are fruitful and our platoons gets to kill some Germans. I am going with 1st platoon to see the action up close while providing my skills during the fighting. Unrelated to today's operations, I just learned that Theodore Roosevelt Jr. died a few days before we landed. Imagine getting on the beaches of Normandy, ready to fight for your country against the enemy. Then, you died of a heart attack. It's sad when someone as important as Theodore dies before they could even begin their mission. Hell, I would be pissed that I died without doing anything impactful. Thankfully, I am young and healthy.

I will be lasting for a long time. Anyway, I will be writing again whenever we start fighting the enemy forces. I hope that God is with us and protecting us while we fight the enemies of freedom.
