John sighed and held up his hands. “Sadly the rumors are a little off. I don’t really have her. She’s a ward staying with me. She comes and goes when she wishes. She was in Seattle last she got a hold of me. I don’t want the poor thing to think my home is a cage. You know I like wild fires”

Serena was listening and said “wow, he didn’t tell a single lie in that. That’s pretty good” Drake was pulling his arm out and said “get ready; I have a feeling John is about to trigger the plan”

John was back facing Midnite and asked “so…do you have the vessel? Or know who is his vessel?” He moved his hand so only Chas could see his hand and he held up five fingers.

John looked over and said “I am just a man in search of knowledge Midnite. You know. I don’t need the magic side just…how you were able to lure him here physically? I mean it’s no small feat…I’m just hoping it wasn’t dumb luck. That would take the fun out of it” he gave Chas a look and moved his eyes to the power panel behind Chas.

Drake held up a hand and said “hold on…we may not have to. Uncle Chas is moving to the power panel. Think you can make us land without any sound? If we play it right we can make it look like the whole block went dark” Serena stood and cracked her neck. “Leave that to me. As soon as Chas moves to the panel I’ll cover the warehouse in a shadow. Make it look like the power went out”

John frowned and then said “wow…” he walked to the seal to get a better look, making his face show only interest. “How did you even get him in there? I mean, this is a feat even for you” he walked around the seal, dropping small pebbles and moving his foot to push them against the seal.

Drake saw this and said “Fia…that’s where you learned that trick? His using the pebbles to break the energy flow of the seal. No wonder you carry small rocks with you” Serena nodded and said “get him in a shadows as soon as the seal breaks. Push him into them if you have too”

John blinked, looking over the seal like a bee checks out a bee. Bane was in his wolf form, bone to the floor with magic chains. He looked like he was in bad shape. He opened his eyes weakly and stared at John and Chas. Chas would hear in his mind “you can’t bring her here…it’s a trap for Serena…please…warn…john…”

Serena cursed softly seeing bane. “We have to get him out of there…” Drake was thinking fast and looked at Fia. “What if you and I go down and break the seal? That’s all we need to do. Bane can vanish into the shadows and find Serena if we get her to the ground floor”

John smiled and said to him “that’s not really a secret mate…” he cleared his throat and said “just to tickle my brain a little. I’ve never seen a guardian spirit outside of their host before. So is it true?”

Serena nodded and said “I’d know him anywhere…his in the middle but his weak. If I can get to him I can give him the boost he needs to break free if need be”

John held open his arms. “But we are mates aren’t we? I mean, we have been thru so much together. But I’m really here to settle a bet. Seems the rumor is you have caught a big time guardian…Chas thinks it’s true but I think it’s a load of horse dug. So we decided to come down and have a look for ourselves”

Drake smiled at her and said “don’t worry unless it’s needed Fia. Have doubt and doubt will come up. Remember who said that?”

Serena held up a hand and said “hold on…I think I got him…it’s weak…but it’s coming from the middle of the warehouse…”

John smirked and walked into the room, whistling like a idiot then yelled “oh papa midnight! It’s old Jonny here! I need to settle a bet with Chas here. Come on out so we can have a lovely chat!”

Drake nodded and said “as long as we keep both of them out of his hands…it will be okay. I think the best plan is making sure Mom gets to Bane as soon we can. I think that’s what went wrong before…” Serena nodded and said “I know I just hate this…I don’t feel right without him with me…”

John looked at the door and then said “how I normally do. Make fun of him until I piss him off enough that he slips up. He will want to show me up. If he comes at me let him at me”

Serena knelt down over the window into the building. “Come on Bane…where are you…he must be in a seal…”

Drake looked at his mom and asked “and can you teleport?” Serena smiled and nodded. “Ya, I can use it. Not pretty but”

John moved to the girls and kissed fia on the forehead and Kay on the lips. “Be careful you two…” then he turned and walked with Chas to the side doors, Serena and Drake using their shadows to vanished and reappear on the roof above them.

John nodded and said “sounds like a great plan to me. The kids are in charge of protecting Serena and Kay. Now” he looked at Serena and Kay and held up a finger. “This is not a time to be selfless and jump into the fight if we get into a jam. I mean it. You two are his targets. He can’t get you two. So for my sake…don’t come in unless you have no other choice. Alright?”

Serena sighed but nodded, knowing her job was to get Bane back. “Alright John…” Drake put an arm around his mother and smiled. “We got this”
