Current I turned 40 recently. Nothing happened, no crisis or anything. Turns out it's just another year.

@DukeOfMadness There is room until I have accepted the cast. So, no need to feel as if you are late to the party.

@Altered Tundra I am quite flexible when it comes to applications. Six people is the desired amount, but if there are more quality characters being submitted, I will not dismiss them just because the quota is met already. So, no need to feel as if you are competing against each other.

@Everyone
The out of character thread will be available within 48 hours of this post! I will post here again when it is available and tag your names as a reminder.
I suppose there can be leeway in the form of 'proper' art rather than real life photos or blatant anime. For example: 1, 2, 3.
@clericbeast I have a difficult time visualizing Anime characters when I read posts. I have nothing against Anime in itself, but for my roleplays I prefer real life references in terms of characters. Reference settings for the story, environments and such, are all CG art.

@Altered Tundra Thank you. Don't put too much effort into it before you see the character sheet, though. The personality section is the only one that is independent and unaffected by everything else, so begin with that if anything.

I always give a 48 hour notice before I post the out of character thread. At that time, I will tag you all like this. Expect this to happen this coming week. Nothing is 'first come first served', so there is no need to feel stressed or rushed.

@Bunnita That is a nice character concept and you are more than welcome to do it. In fact, I encourage it and in general, character types that contrast each other as much as possible. Mine will be the typical leader type. Mostly because it is easy to portray alongside my other duties as Game Master. If you Google "little sister tvtropes" you will find a trope about the "Little Sister Heroine". Maybe it will spark a few more ideas.

@bluejay_gl That is a nice drawing! While I do require people to find a real life face model for their characters, you are allowed to have additional images such as this. And do not worry about the character sheet. I will post one that explains every section in detail, and post my own character as an example character sheet, so that our sheets looks roughly the same.

All our characters will be the same age, yes.
Thanks for all the interest.

@bluejay_gl No worries, dear.

@Sand Let us hope that it does.

@clericbeast You do not need any knowledge of Final Fantasy, at all, so do not worry about that.

1. Yes. We are all going to collaborate at one point during the character creation process either way, when we describe our characters' relations to one another, but if you want to do that with someone before all that, then that is perfectly fine.

2. In the out-of-character thread, and specifically in the character creation section, I will provide a few links to tvtropes.org that discusses character types and usual occurrences in 'team groups' like this. They are by no means mandatory, but they will serve as guidelines and sources of inspiration for you when you create your characters.

@Free Faller Nothing is settled until I have approved six people for the cast by considering their character sheets. So, your interest is not in vain. Please do follow the progress here, and then submit a character.
Thanks for the interest.

@bluejay_gl, four or five posts a week is extreme. One or two posts a fortnight is more realistic, so I am sure that you will be able to keep up.

@Bunnita is on the right track of thinking about characters already. You are going to have to write your characters' thoughts about all other characters, since they know each other and are 'friends'. Internal disputes are encouraged, but they should not be severe enough to warrant someone to leave this little circle.

Your characters will have a signature weapon, so you can give that some thought as well.

Magic in this roleplay is inspired by Magic: The Gathering, so you can read up on that a little bit unless you are already familiar with it.

Thanks for the interest. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

@Bunnita Yes, the characters know each other and have been friends for a while.

Guardians are very powerful, but there is no 'leveling' if that is what you mean. You will be able to 'absorb' new spirits/magic throughout the story, that is about it for progression.

The meter is nothing like 'hit points', and you never have to think about it or count anything — the less you know and care about it, the better.

You do not have to know anything about Final Fantasy, because this is not Final Fantasy. It is certainly inspired by, but no more than that.

This is the first installment of the roleplay, but note that it is almost a year old, and my writing may have changed/developed since then. If you ever feel that my standards are not to your liking, then I am always open for discussion.

In a universe comprising copies of copies, you are the original version of yourself.

Years ago, a great calamity fell from the heavens and the world of Libra was stricken with a terrible malady that turned both man and beast into monsters. They named it the Divine Disease and its heralds the Mordrem. In order to prevent total annihilation, humanity built a massive terraformed space habitat named Elysium to which they escaped and left the world below.

The Mordrem thrive on the consumption of spirits, which are an important part of Libra’s ecosystem. Because of this, the spirits within all things of nature—mountains and rivers, flowers and trees, thunder and wind—abandoned their natural embodiments and sought refuge in beings of prominence in order to protect themselves from the Mordrem. The people who were chosen by spirits became known as Guardians. They can exert the natural power of spirits as magic, and therefore a valuable asset in the war against the Great Threat.

Humanity’s primary concern is to retake the world that they have lost. In this great endeavor they formed the United Defense Force, which is an independent military coalition with its base of operations and training on Elysium. All men and women are encouraged to join this Great War Machine and do their part. However, the corrupt politics of Elysium has brainwashed its aristocratical society to focus on the Golden Future, an imaginary utopia beyond the stars. While the rich and powerful live safely on Elysium—basking in luxuries of android servants, advanced medical technology, and healthy nourishment—the impoverished suffer on the surface of Libra, which is overpopulated, polluted, stagnant, and constantly ravaged by natural disasters and the Mordrem.

You are a Guardian, who recently graduated from a military academy on Elysium and is ready to join the United Defense Force. The squad to which you have been assigned consists of your friends that you went to school with. On your first mission together, which is to secure valuable assets in a city under siege, you accidentally discover highly classified information about the Golden Future. This sparks a chain of events that will lead to the realization that you have a much greater purpose in the cosmos than you could possibly imagine.

Information

1.// This is a Final Fantasy-esque, epic journey story with a lot of conflict and dilemmas. The characters in such medium are usually vivid and exaggerated. There is also a notion of low life, high technology accompanied by melee and ranged weaponry, magic, Mechs and drones, and teleportation devices. Magic takes the form of various elements.

2.// I use a simple system for combat. It does not involve dice or chance. Everything your character does counts towards a number, a meter of sorts. When the number has been met, the enemy can be defeated. I also use a lot of reference images and music for my roleplays. Further, I also make use of different ‘timelines’ should they be needed.

3.// The only thing that I ask of you is that you match your writing standards to mine, or present something superior. I would also like to know if you have to leave the roleplay before it is finished. I do not hold grudges and I do not get mad about such things, so there is no reason to simply disappear. I also believe that everyone deserves a second chance.

4.// A lot of the information that will be presented in a possible out of character thread should be credited to two dear friends of mine, who helped me tremendously. They know who they are, and I love them no matter what happens in this life or the next. I have dragged them through the mud with my perfectionism and impulsiveness, thus I hope that they will forgive me someday.

5.// I am looking for six or so timeless individuals, who want to create good memories through this story.

Hello,

I'd like to request that 3 threads pertaining to a long dead roleplay of mine be deleted. I'm uncomfortable with its content being available for public viewing.
Thank you.

Hello everyone!

I've decided to leave the guild. It's been a long time coming, but the time has suddenly come. It was unfortunate that I joined this roleplay before this happened, and I apologize for that. But, know that this is not because of this roleplay, it's the forums. Anyway, do with Olivia whatever you wish. And I hope that me leaving doesn't affect the success of this roleplay!
