I'm having trouble finding out what's going on. But! Kassy is free to do whatever. Jin's with Naka, and Kijani... well, Kijani's probably going to go find Connor.

@RumikoOhara Do you want to meet Kassy?
@OllumhammersongSweet! I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on it. I have other character ideas, I just want to see if this one will fly.
@Ollumhammersong A military therapist who all but begged to come along with the crew. She is trying to write a thesis on how the Marauders continue to be successful when so many others don't, and is trying to see if the psychological makeup of the non-military crewmembers somehow makes them more pliable when facing the unknown.

I'm considering that maybe she didn't have clearance from the military and just lied about it because she's so damn curious. Ironically that would be a criminal act, because it'd make her a stowaway...
That's a really good explanation of what I'm going for. Will isn't always measured in psychic power. Even though Pulse doesn't have anything like that, Kassy would have a hell of a time forcing control on him. He's very strong willed, and extremely guarded emotionally. She could do it, but not without hurting him, most likely permanently. It's like the difference between opening a lockbox with the right key... and forcing it open. The broken box is never quite the same.

I like those ideas... I may try to incorporate them.

Also, I never picked Dimitri as blonde. ^^; He and Kassy have more in common than I thought.
@Hawlin invited me to take a look.

Does the ship have any need for a non-combatant? I've had this alien idea for a while, but she wouldn't be getting in any fights. Not unless they landed on specific types of planets, anyway.
Hey!

Do you happen to have any pictures of Dimitri?
Hey! I've kinda been working on how Kassy's illusions function. If you want to know the details, let me know. I try to keep her power something that can't be easily abused or overpowered. I also try to leave the player as much control over their character as possible.

For example, someone who's studied mind control and how to resist it, or has similar mental powers themselves is going to be MUCH harder to fool. On the contrary, someone who doesn't have any experience, or is just kinda... shallow, probably will be easy pickings.

There's also things like someone being able to notice something wrong with the illusion itself. Kassy's pretending to be Reece, but a couple details probably aren't going to fit if the others know him well enough. Like... Kassy didn't know his eye color at all, so she just went with brown because she knows that's common for humans. She's got the goggles down to attempt to cover it.

Now, if someone else knows that Reece's eyes are actually a lovely blue, and they see that this "Reece" is not, then things get weird. The illusion will start to look more and more unreal to them specifically, and once they break it, it's hard for Kassy to fool the same person the same way.

*shrug* I'm trying to make mind control something that isn't an immediate godmodding trip. I think it can have plenty of leeway to be just another ability, but even I have to temper it. I mean, Kassy could break Manny's brain and make him think he's a little girl, but it will NOT be easy - or even permanent.
Kassy went toward Manny, trying to act like a scared subordinate. It wasn't exactly hard. She wasn't afraid of the man, but the gun in his hand was another story entirely. "Sure thing, boss, right away!" She moved toward him, "accidentally" knocking one of the cages on it's side as she did so. The more chaos, the better.

While she did so, she looked up at the attacking bird. It was not hard to peek into an animal's mind. The issue was communicating to it properly. Most animals didn't think in complicated ways. She pressed against the bird's psyche, indicating Enemy and Danger about Manny, and Friend to her. The second one she wasn't sure of. Did birds have friends? Maybe she should have indicated Flock? No matter, there wasn't enough time. One last nudge, one last command.

Attack!

"How do you want me to catch it?" She made a good show of jumping, trying to snatch at the bird in the air. She really hoped she could get rid of this guy soon - her illusion could start to break under scrutiny. It had been so easy with Reece because the man was so obviously weak-minded. This man was different.
Finally got a post done. I think there's something wrong with my memory. I remember posting something else, but... I can't find it.
Jin stared at the almost-normal classroom outside the portal. They felt... unseated. Just completely all sorts of wrong. Sure, it looked like school, but their school didn't have some kind of bizarre mystical portal in it. Then there was the fact that... that creature was gone. Clotho, their brain provided, Clotho was her name, and Jin KNEW that like the Pythagorean Theorem to be hard fact.
Things like monsters and spirits and - those things didn't exist. The whole thing could not have happened.

Yet, the whole thing had happened, and it was real. Senhime's burns were proof of that. Jin found their mouth opening, words spilling out.

"You'll want to wipe that with a clean warm cloth when you get home. I would suggest a shower but it would probably hurt like hell. Keep it covered in clean bandages. If you want, I've got some stuff that helps scars."

Jin's mouth closed. Opened. "Does anyone else feel like they're still dreaming? Because I feel like I'm going to wake up any second now."
