That isn't true. My cousin is out,in action, risking his own life to not only save soldiers but civilians as well...at least, that is what I know of as of last month. My brother is going to be soon joining him as a medic as well. He is alo really pushing me to do the buddy system in which we go together...
If I had to give you any advice regarding the military, only go into medical if that's absolutely your calling. They see some of the worst, most revolting and scarring things that no human should ever see. It's one of the most traumatizing fields to go into, so don't let anyone pressure you into a certain path.
