One last thing before you all go on to join, keep in mind that this will be a fairly gory RP. I'm not holding back from the violence and it would probably classify as 18+. (Just need to mention that)

Description:
The Soul Sucker is a speciality weapon that is used by the WDD in order to send an unwanted demon back to the underworld. It is a single hand cannon that only works when in contact with the head of a demon. Once activated, the end barrel will shoot out 3 spikes into the skull and begin to bore it's way deep into the brain where it is able to destroy the soul's essence. This violent procedure is unfortunately necessary as some demons have a high regeneration value, making it difficult to destroy the contained soul.

The top 4 WDD agents are known to the rest of the organisation as the Elites. Before the WDD was formed there wasn't much known about these individuals and their true skills are hidden to many of those that work there. The only individuals that know about their pasts are the CEO and a handful of assorted higher ups.

Biography:
Phil a very aggressive person and has been known to enjoy torturing people. He shares a striking resemblances to that of a known serial killer but he will argue that it is not him based on how many decades ago the murders took place.

Phil and Starr have a bit of a relationship going on, but their co-workers can never tell if it's anything serious or just a close friendship.

Biography:
Starr has a bit of a wild, rebellious personality while being a little reckless and violent at times. Her enjoyment in this violence can be seen by the way she looks down on those that are weak, and by the way she will laugh at mortal wounds.

When not in a fight she will come across as flirtatious and try to play the "innocent me" game in order to get what she wants. It's a move she tries on most people, but it never seems to work on her co-worker Phil.

Extra:
Starr hates eating, and suffers from bulimia. She will be seen after a meal heading off to a secluded area before purging her stomach contents.

Bligh

Bligh

Alias: Pestilence
Gender/Age: Male, 34
Weapons:
- An 8 shot revolver
- Cigarette lighter

Abilities:
Bligh breathes out a thick, toxic gas cloud that is able to poison those that happen to breathe it in. Many plants and small animals will die instantly from the concentration, but larger beings will be able to put up a resistance for a short period of time. In order to contain his ability from his co-workers and innocent people, he constantly wears a gas mask. By also moving his hands in a sweeping motion Bligh is able to partially direct the flow of the cloud much like how wind cam move smoke in a certain direction.

While within the cloud storm Bligh is able to teleport from one position to another. He can use this to dodge attacks and surprise his opponents, but he is limited to only movement within the cloud.

One aspect that is rarely known is that the gas is also flammable and by lighting it up he is able to breathe out fireballs like a dragon.

Biography:
Bligh is the oldest of the WDD elites with very a large amount of knowledge when it comes to chemical warfare and poisons. He is very reassuring, stern, and often tries to lead the group by example.

Bligh will rarely talk about his past and never seems to take off his gas mask except when confined within his own home. He also carries around a chrome lighter with a biohazard symbol on the side and can often be seen playing with it during moments of boredom.

Biography:
Arnold is more of a defensive character than the other three. He will never attack, and rarely takes his hands out of his pockets unless completely necessary. It is rumoured that he is skilled in nearly every known weapon manufactured, but not many people are convinced considering he can be an occasional klutz, often dropping plates and glassware.

Being the youngest as well, he is overlooked occasionally as one of the top elites due to his lack of experience in the field.

Lexie Bristol

- M4 Carbine, equipped with a sound suppressor and scope.
- Tactical knife, attached to her hip

- Self defence and CQC training.
- Military grade training in firearms.
- Fairly adapt with online research and identity tracking.

Biography:
Lexie joined the military after leaving school at 17. She spent the following years training and excelling in most of her courses before being approached by the WDD for a position within their ranks, to which she accepted.
When she joined she was informed that her new position would be that of a field agent where she would have to go out and assist the WDD elites in their jobs. Until this point in time she had not known about the demonic world and all this is still quite new to her.

Lexie carries around a laptop in her backpack that she uses for both personal and professional work.

Jeremy Bolt

Jeremy Bolt

Gender/Age: Male, 25

Weapons:

The Cleavers

Jeremy carries around a twin set of oversize war cleavers. These weapons are about a metre in length and are connected at the hilt by a chain. This chain has the unusual ability to grow and shrink in length thus giving him an unusually deceptive amount of range.

When not in use, he carries them around in a large briefcase that only him and Jin can open.

Abilities:
Along with his weapons, Jeremy has a high amount of agility and speed. He can perform an occasional flash step in order to dodge any incoming attacks, but with each successive step he will become more and more exhausted.

Jeremy also has acidic blood which has the ability to melt through most metals. By drawing his blades across his skin, he can coat the sharp edge in this blood making it a highly dangerous weapon.

To assist with this self torture style of fighting, Jeremy has some regeneration abilities allowing wounds to take a fraction of the time to heal. (ie: Cuts, a few hours, broken bones a few days.)

Biography:
Jeremy was a regular person, working a regular retail job at an electronics department store. He lived on his own in an apartment within the CBD of Eastwood. Even with the poor to average life that he had, he still enjoyed it and didn't really have too many cares in the world.

On the day of his 'death' some armed robbers decided to hold up the store, breaking in through the glass front and shooting anyone that moved. Jeremy was one of those people. As the bullet flew towards his head he felt time began to slow down until it stopped completely with the projectile millimetres from impact. It was at that moment that Jin, his demon, appeared. The pale looking girl materialised before him and reached out towards the bullet, pushing it out of the way.

"You're mine now," Jin spoke as she plunged one hand into his skull, and the other into his heart before ripping out a glowing white silhouette of Jeremy. The ghost like soul came out of his body with little resistance and as she hugged it's essence it dissolved into her own body, bringing her spiritual form to life as a living human in front of him.

As time returned back to normal, both Jeremy and Jin collapsed on the ground and into unconsciousness having completed their joining contract.

Demon Type: Demon

Abilities:
Jin cannot safely use the Cleavers that Jeremy holds. Attempting to pick them up and holding them will sear her skin with a harsh burn. She does retain some of her speed, but is only able to perform one flash step every few minutes as it's power usage is too much for her to handle.

She does have some regeneration abilities and her blood is still acidic, but those that touch it will feel as if they are getting surface burns as opposed to the strength of Jeremy's blood.

Biography:
Jin is an independent woman who is only using Jeremy as a means to live within the human world, but she also feels lonely knowing that she doesn't truly belong here. Because of this she is somewhat conflicted about her feelings towards him where she on one hand doesn't care what he really gets up to, but on the other hand worries about him and his well being.

Synopsis:

Soul, as I'll call it for convenience, takes place in a time not so far into the future where demons have been able to make contact with a few chosen humans who are on the verge of death. These demons sign their unwilling victims up to a contract in exchange for the ownership of their soul. Once a human is signed up they are granted a new chance at life and given powers, weapons, and abilities that both mirror and are inspired by the demon that signed up the human. The demon themselves are then able to manifest their own spiritual being into a human form so that they can follow and interact with their contractee in their every day lives, however their own powers are severely hindered to a tiny fraction of what they originally were.

Since the governments of the world noticed an increase in the number of demonic beings that have been making deals with humans they came to agreement that for the safety of the human race a separate division should be created, known as WDD (World Demonic Defence). The WDD is a task force of speciality hunters who are given the authority to eliminate these demons and their illegally living hosts from the world by any means necessary. In order to complete their job with the limited resources that they have, some WDD agents have resorted to acts of bribery and even hostage holding, forcing the stronger of the demons to target and kill their own kind, or risk being killed themselves.

This dog eat dog environment has created a very unstable world where even being suspected as someone with a binding contract could be quite deadly.

Important Details:

• Soul is a bit of a Dark Fantasy/Modern - Post Modern world. There may be minor Sci-Fi elements
• For this RP it will be required that players will have to make 2 characters with one being the saved human, and the other being the demon contractor.
• Both the demon and the human who have made a contract will share pain that their other receives however no injuries will be shared (eg, breaking a bone will not break any bones in the other individual)
• Many humans will remain unaware of what is going on with the demons and the WDD. Your demon contractor will appear to others as a friend, co-worker, partner, etc.
• Your choice of demon can be fairly unique as long as they aren't too overpowered and humanoid in design. I may allow 'daemons' as well which in ancient Greek referred to good spiritual beings rather than bad. This should be reflected in the demon's personality and style of fighting/abilities but it is more of an aesthetic choice.
• Soul will begin about a week after your character experiences their near death experience. This should both help speed things up and prevent needless plot building/character learning. We will also be residing in the same city as a way to improve interactions.
• The city that we will be residing in will be known as the City of Eastwood. City of Eastwood is a large, bustling city with a busy CBD a shipping port.

Member Generated Ideas:

• Any humans who have signed a contract with a demon will have the ability to both see through a demon's disguise and witness their true form, as well as identify any human that has forfeited their soul to a demon. When identified the human will appear as a crisp focal point with the surrounding objects and entities appearing out of focus. (Example Image)

Note: I will be looking a posting speed of about once or twice a week with post being more on the longer side of things (a few paragraphs at least, I hate the term but High Casual). I do intend to run this for as long as I can so I would like to have a group of dedicated players. In saying that, if a player doesn't post in a week I will ping them with a mention. After 2 weeks of unnecessary inactivity that player and characters will be removed from the RP (I just don't think it's fair for the other player and myself to wait on people who aren't committed).

Rules and Etiquette

1: No Godmodding, Metagaming, Powerplaying, Mary-Sues or Lore Breaking will be tolerated... Period.
2: No Auto-Hits. Your attacks should be left to the other player's discretion for if they hit or not. On the flip side, your character cannot avoid every attack under the sun. So play fair!
3: No disrespecting the decisions of the GM @NuttsnBolts
4: Don't ever think I am an ass. I'm just picky on what I like and don't like.
5: Have fun and stay committed.

I, as GM, may perform some acts that break the first two rules. This will be in order to achieve a particular outcome for story development. It shouldn't be anything too drastic, but please be aware of this.

I haven't included any Weapon option for the demon. If this presents a possible problem with your Character design please let me know and I'll see how we can work out a compromise.

Lastly, try to be clear about your character's abilities. If it's not in the CS then it doesn't exist.

Looks very interesting! Question though - would there be random pairings of demons and their contracted humans or would you have to make your own pair? As in, if I were to make a demon and a human, would they be the ones bound together?

I'll see if I answer this correctly so let me know if you need further clarification.

The demon and human that you create will be the one with the contract. As much as this is a bit of a fighting rp, this will be a story about their survival in the world and whether they enjoy each others company, or resent it.

I believe splitting them up and having contracts with other players would end up with too many power play problems, and God Modding.

Why is Casual so much more popular than Free or Advanced?

Free: Quantity over Quality
Casual: Quality over Quantity
Advanced: Quality and Quantity

I believe some people just find it hard to write more than a few posts of good quality in the time that they are given. Everyone has different writing and reading speeds and trying to dedicate time for that can be difficult for people's busy schedule. I can see why casual is popular because 2-3 short posts of can suffice if you're held up for a while and it can keep the ball rolling.
