• No Guns. Sounds weird, but guns are just somehow cheating, so if there's a gun, it's a big deal. You know those scenes in movies where a hunter shoots a deer or something and the whole forest goes silent and all the chipmunks perk their ears in terror? Like that, but chipmunk masks instead.

I actually quite like this. So I'm Australian... And yeah, no guns over here.

If you start adding guns there's always the chance it will blow out from handguns to shotguns and assault rifles. That aspect alone changes the feel to make it more gritty and personal. Shooting a blank target is honestly boring and it is a lazy way to write.
Been in several RPs with another loser in this thread.

I hate it when people submit unfinished sheets. Maybe it's just me, but seeing a sheet in the OOC that's hidden under a hider titled "WIP" rubs me the wrong way.

Seriously, keep the sheet in storage until you finish it and then submit it in the OOC/to the GM/whatever the GM requests of you. It's not asking much.

How hard is it to send yourself a PM and work on a character sheet that way?

I do that all the time so I don't have to be at home to make adjustments and additions. Plus the BB code will work.

I dunno... I just find it rude to start building a character in someones OOC. It's almost like you want to reserve ideas and such so others can't take them.
Interested. Posted up some other questions and opinions in your other thread here.
It does sound interesting, as long as it doesn't follow the same storyline as Hotline Miami (and I'm not talking about you, @DeadBeatWalking as I'm sure you've got a storyline, but more people that want to mimic the game itself and shoehorn in an idea)

As for super powers. Yes they can be cool and I would love to have some special abilities!!!! However I do believe that it might over-saturate the RP with extra bits that don't make sense. You've already got a bit of an anarchy/riot feel to it. Powers will take that away and turn it into a silly super-hero story in my opinion.

• The Warriors faced every other gang, The Jets faced The Sharks, The Outsiders faced class warfare, and The Sons of Anarchy faced themselves. Which kind of story would you be most interested in?

• Should every player be from the same gang, or should there be members from different gangs? Alternatively, should every player's character be the leader of a gang, or not? Should we accept non-gang players like police officers?

Creating different gangs as a player will cause it to become quite a large RP. While I would like to have a gang of my own, I would then have to create different members and a uniqueness to it. Unless this is going to be a Nation RP, I would stick to people being from a predefined selection of groups. If people want to create a second character for the other gang, then that could always be an eventual possibility, and in the future you may wish to add a third group to the mix. Leaving the gang creation in your own hands means you can control their pros and cons, where as giving it to others will mean that they are free to create what they want and you may have to be a little more critical on the applications (Similar experience with a space RP I had where people could create a 'race' for a character).

With Police, I personally wouldn't allow them as a main character, but only a secondary character. That way the story is more about the members rather than a police taskforce. (Possible GM only class as players may ruin your fun with unwanted raids and such - potential to metagame)

I'm interested to see where this would go and it does sound interesting. I am getting a bit of a Scarface view as well seeing as that was set about the same time period. (Also helps that I have a massive Scarface poster on the wall behind where my laptop sits)
@Pair of Hearts

Most of the time they'll edit, but the quality of the edits is another issue. The guy in the latest RP I attempted completely fixed up his grammer and spelling, which made me wonder how hard was it to do in the first place. In another RP I told someone to go over their CS and re-adjust things cause it didn't make sense and the edits they had contained remnants of the original problem scattered throughout. He was completely declined.

Maybe I am being a little hard and that's why many of my RPs don't work out, but I always believe quality is more important than filling out your own ego fantasies.
@Su Yin
Mahz also just implemented a dice roller (see front page, top right — Still beta) so tabletops should start to pick-up in activity.

There are a few table top RPers here and most are more than willing to help. @Shorticus gave me some food for thought once when I was pitching ideas for a roleplay and how it might work better under a table top format due to the randomness that can occur.

From that, I gathered that not all table top RPs have to be elaborate. The dice are only used to judge the possible outcomes so it's more predictable and planned.
I'm kinda baffled that there's actually a full on Korean tabletop rp on the site. It seems legit enough, but isn't it supposed to be an English language only site? I'd imagine moding other languages would be tricky for mods.

A quick translate will see if anything illegal is being discussed, but for the most part they seem to keep to themselves. I suppose they have a site to RP on and it could be one of the few that would allow it seeing many sites ban non English content.
Interesting.

A question about the plot. It seems like this is going to be quite involved on the arena/fighting side of things with Londi issuing out challenges. Have you got other plans outside that?

Also, for work sample, would a link to another RP I'm in suffice or would you rather this RP's character?

(...Not really)
I've run into it quite often, had a whole grammatical debate over it once because the guy perceived not being accepted as an attack.

Grammar and spelling can annoy me at times.

I've seen a character, lets call her Billie, and another player kept writing "Billy" as the name. Like for fucks sake... why write a character sheet when people don't read or refer back to?

As for grammar I can understand minor things like incorrect sentence structure if it's still a well written post and that one section was written oddly. I probably have the same thing and I know I latch onto words and repeat them without thinking. What gets me is the failed use of capitals, punctuation, and failing to enclose a whole sentence in a defined way (eg: "They went to the shops to buy." — Um... Buy what?).

Naturally I would think that people who join a writing forum would come here to also better their skills, but as you pointed out @Gowi, some people get the shits when you correct them so that they can improve.
