Darkwing Duck (just minus the ducks)

Let's. Get. Dangerous.

Ever since I saw this image of a revamped forgotten character from Marvel's past I thought about a story adapted from Darkwing Duck just with humans instead of anthropomorphic animals....

So the general idea isn't note for note redoing Darkwing just with humans, cause doing comedy sitcom type stuff isn't really my jam. In my head I imagine this is the darker themed pulp character that the duck version would've been the parody of. Batman is to Batduck as Darkwing is to Darkwing Duck. A pulp themed hero in purple. A fearless young pilot. A young girl in need of a new home. His rogues gallery that's on par with Batman and Spider-Man... IDK why Disney hasn't done more with this concept?!

A human form of Launchpad could be comedic sure, but maybe Launchpad is more daring like Race Bannon and less comic relief in this? Slight alterations here and there are perfectly fine. After watching tons of stuff from behind the scenes there were even a couple more of the badguys that would've switched sides, Bushroot being the big one. Anyway here's a handful of characters I'd hope to fill out in the RP. The idea is I'd take Darkwing to set the tone. Anyway the cast, name changes (if they're duck or animal themed), and images if I've found anything good for reference.

So yeah... I know... it's SUPER niche. I'd be doing good if I could find a handful of DW fans. HOWEVER... I can totally make an RP with just another four or five peeps. I left a ton of the characters out, and the story we roll with will be based on what we get in terms of cast. There's a ton of potential in the concept, and if I can manage to pull this off I'd love to give another RP a try with something like Tale Spin with humans rather than animals.

And that's the bare bones of it. A few pictures gave me the idea to run with the idea finally. Lately I'm just feeling nostalgic and I have a huge love for pulp characters like the Shadow, Doc Savage, and the Green Hornet. I even threw a couple spots in the cast for original characters to spice things up a bit more. If enough people are game I'll throw a CS template together and post it and we can get to work developing the rest of the RP!

Awesome! So, follow up question, does the Brute need to be human? I was hoping to make a sentient robot (ultron, vision, red tornado) would that be allowed?

Yeah that's cool it just needed to be a brute. I just did the archetypes thing so we didn't have too many of the same type of character. It could have fallen under advance techno but we've got that spot filled. So long as the character's main focus is on strength/durability, a robot brute is as good as anything.

@Stern Algorithm It's going to be an HQ Lady Liberty had under the apartment complex doing it. I mostly wanted to set it up so my guy wasn't running out of the door in today's world wearing his super duds. Interference could be stealing power from the secret HQ though.

I'm setting up a new secret HQ with that last bit of my first post. I figure a resident super genius might have plans for another one should we have a more resourceful Alliance, but if not we can keep it mostly street level.

Was anybody else based near Broker [GTA equivalent of Brooklyn] or was it just my guy?

My daughter got everybody in the house sick to some degree. I'll be around but replies from me might be a little slow. I'm just now getting up and moving around, but at least my head doesn't weigh a thousand pounds now...

* Rather than whatever GTA came up with, I'm calling the Sheepshead Bay area of Broker 'Bayside' (I'm secretly a Saved by the Bell fan)

RULES:

1.) No back-to-back posting.

2.) PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND SET-UPS!!

3.) Make sense. If we can't make heads or tails of your posts they're likely to get skipped over.

4.) Get permission before using another player's character in your posts if it involves changing the scene or making actions. Everybody will take beatings in this game in battle however, so don't get pissed if you get punched or blasted into a wall by the bad guys! Namely me controlling the badguys...

5.) Problems with the game or players should be sent directly to me through PM's. I don't want a bunch of bickering in the OOC.

6.) Abandoned characters will be used as NPC's or killed off within the context of the story.

7.) “I was waiting for [insert player/character] to make a move” is not how this game is played.

8.) There is no rule #8.

9.) My word is law.

10.) Obey the law.

11.) In the event that I'm offline for any period of time, a Co-GM will take control and their word will then be law.

Two weeks ago....

Judah looked out of the window of his uncle's apartment at the ocean and the bay. His phone was against his ear for a few moments before he pulled it away and touched a button on the screen.

"I'm sorry kid, but I think the Alliance has moved on." stated Judah's uncle, Sam.

"None of them were even at mom's funeral. I'm not sure I can do this without the Alliance..." replied Judah holding his mother's Torch weapon in his other hand.

"Then make your own." the uncle said bluntly.

Present day....

He didn't understand the science of it all, but the power that the Torch gave Judah was incredible. Being able to nearly leap a skyscraper in a single bound was something else. He'd made himself something of a superhero costume, though it was nothing more than a green mask and military fatigues. He didn't need anything flashy, just enough to get the job done.

"Some nutjob is on the other side of Broker holding up a bank. Reports are saying there's also a situation in Middle Park... some free concert turned into a riot. When the police showed up they joined in." said Judah's uncle from an ear bud type of device under his mask.

"I think I'll deal with the situation a little closer to home. I'm sure there's other heroes closer to the park anyway. We got any info on the bank robber, like if it's just a guy with a gun or somebody with superpowers?" asked Liberty Son as he leapt from building to building until he reached the bank.

"No idea, but be careful. I've gotta go silent, somebody's at the door. Now that I'm the new maintenance man for the complex it seems like there's always something that needs fixed..." Sam said from his home at the Bayside apartment complex as he walked to his door.

"Hello?" he asked opening up to an aggravated elderly woman.

"A couple of other people and me keep losing power on the first floor! This has been a problem for several months now!" the woman exclaimed.

"Does the power come back on within a few minutes or so?" Judah's Uncle Sam asked the woman.

"Usually within about ten minutes or so. That doesn't mean it's ok to keep writing it off..." the woman began to say before Sam cut her off.

"Nothing is getting written off, let me grab my tool belt..." Sam stated reaching over for some tools near the dining area.
