In amazement, Jyu-in continued to play with her new-found fists for a bit. Rapidly, she shifted from jazz hands to the dreaded Kanchou position to more. Having the fists mirror her actions, however, made the fists a bit unruly. She didn't want to move them all the time because, in fact, she could feel a touch of strain every time she moved them. A curious thought entered her mind. Why was the movement entirely somatic? Movement came from the mind and it propagated using half of the nervous system. If that was the case, then wouldn't her mind be able to control them? Carefully, she focused her mind.

Don't move.

That was it. The mantra repeated over and over in her head. Slowly, her hands moved apart from each other. Suddenly, an impulse. She brought her hands together as fast as she could. A tiny, non-metallic clap resounded. It worked! The hands didn't move. The link had been severed! Wait, why did she want that? If that link broke permanently, she'd pretty much lose the use of her newfound arms. That would fucking suck. In a panic, she began to flex every single muscle that she had in an effort to find any trace of the link. Feet, no. Shoulders, no. Kegels, no. She even flexed muscles she didn't have. Invisible muscles, the kind that didn't actually exist on the human body, too. Suddenly, the fist twitched. She flexed the nonexistent muscle again. The arm moved. Rather than be connected to her arms, her arms were only the training wheels. If she focused hard enough on the task, she could have two sets of arms functioning perfectly!

That meant she spent an exorbitant amount of time relearning how to use a second set of arms with an overly complicated explanation. She could control the two sets of arms autonomously and that was what was important.

Suddenly, a roar. A loud one at that. Jyu-in instantly knew what kind of roar it was. All of those days listening to 'Best Friend Takes You On A Surprise Camping Trip - Natural Ambience ASMR' had paid off. It was a reptilian roar. It sounded like a bass-boosted roar. Thankfully, it was far enough to not demolish her eardrums.

Albrecht had commanded everyone. The sturdy ones, Henry and Irene were with him. The rest of them were to go into the forest away from the roar. Wait, Irene was sturdy? From the bus ride, she certainly didn't think of Irene as sturdy. That meant that the smelly hobo was (most likely) Irene. Out of sympathy, Jyu-in walked towards Irene, now a stinky bum, and thought extremely carefully about what she was going to say. My condolences to your new form. I understand how rough it can be. It was that simple. That's all she needed to say. The words ran through her mind at least 5 times. She was ready. Her face saddened, giving off the international sign of 'I understand', sorrow, and empathy.

"Git fucked."

That was definitely not what she meant to say.

With a sudden grimace, she hopped away from Irene. She was on Albrecht's b-team now. Better to, uh, not acknowledge what she just said. Not even realizing that Henry had called her out, she ignored his request for digging aid.

"Oi, 'rite then lassies," Jyu-in commanded to the rag-tag group of weaklings that had all been doing their own thing, "we're 'eading opp'site tha woods. Prolly south, innit? Tha goddess was warning us 'bout the roar. We hit trouble, I hit for ya, ye?"

Was she right? Who knew. It was Albrecht's plan (if you could even call it that). The other weenies actually listening, however, was a bit unreliable. Snobby students definitely weren't the most organized posse. She also really wanted to leave the glade. The grass made her feet tingle and she didn't like it one bit.
Was this supposed to happen?

Last thing Jyu-in could remember, she had got on the bus to her new university. If it was just a simple trip across Scotland, why was she hurtling through the air? Right! The kidnappers. There were definitely some kidnappers who took them all hostage. Still didn't really solve most of the mystery, but it helped explain why it happened. Wait a second, no it didn't. If she was on a bus, how did she end up in the sky. Wait, what was she hearing? It was hard to hear over the eardrum bursting wind noise. Rather, she didn't hear it. She felt it. Something about being in one location, with the right piece, having a new southern body, and slacking off in the glade. Still though, the ground approached fast.

Wait, wasn't this exactly how she died in the first place, hurtling at high speed towards an immovable object?

"Oi fuck."

She landed with a splat, two heavy weights smashing on top of her with comedic timing. Before she had a chance to die, the weights seemed to lift off of her back. What was all that about? Before she could get up by herself, an unfamiliar voice emerged from outside the grassy knoll her face was currently deeply implanted in. An unsure inquiry about her health, it was. Jyu-in didn't really feel pain. In fact, besides the grass tickling her on all sides, she didn't really feel much. With a hand on each side, she pulled her head out of the earth.

"Down fucked, I am," her voice seeped out indeterminate accents and booze. It felt as though her jaw had slammed enough spirits to exorcise Ireland. In fact, that wasn't even what she was trying to say. Her brain had sent the signals to her vocal cords to make a sound similar to 'I might be hurt, can't tell, sorry' but it got jumbled along the way. Not really jumbled so much as completely demolished. Instinctively, she covered her mouth and took the strange man's hand. He was a bit smelly, actually. She didn't really say anything about it. That's when she noticed something very important.

"Blimey, why's my head so bloody low?" Again, she spoke in mixed up words. What she meant to say was 'wait, why am I short'. Indeed, she barely reached the smelly cloaked man's (presumed) navel now that she stood up. She turned around to gauge her surroundings. Her other companions, so to speak, were a cackling jester, a paladin-looking fellow doing something to an elf woman, giant metal robot arms, a lizard, and a goth.

Wait hold on a second. A lizard? Wait, no. Why was there a set of massive floating robot arms?

"Oi? Fuck's this shite?" She let go of the smelly man's hand and backed up. The large arms followed her every move. Rather, now that she was focused on them, they mirrored her every move. When she lifted her arms in an extremely useless sense of self-defense, the arms mimicked everything. Finger position, arm shakes, everything. Wait, everything? She stopped moving back and slowly (but surely) made an okay sign with both hands. The arms followed suit, mirroring the exact movements. The arms must either be a massive bellend and was making fun of her, or they were hers. The only words that could come to her mind in the confusion was a simple 뭐.

BACKGROUND
A programming savant, technology was always Jyu-ni's expertise. Born the daughter of two head electronic engineers for South Korea's largest chaebol, it was obvious her path in life lead to becoming one herself. Her upbringing was rather proper, if not lonely. Her parents were stuck at work all too often. They had little time to raise their child. As such, Jyu-ni was raised by dozens of caretakers. Each one only lasted a few months before finding a different child to take care of. It wasn't her fault, either. Jyu-ni was a decent child. It was just how it went with busy parents. They didn't look for anyone who would stick around.

In her loneliness, Jyu-ni went hard on studying. If she couldn't get a friend in her lonely household, couldn't she just make one? Rather than the warm embrace of her mother, she embraced cold servos. Rather than serious talks with her father, she talked like a child to anonymous people online and chat bots. In order for her to get the most appropriate upbringing, she was sent to South Korea's most prestigious schools. Extremely strict schools. Friendship was discouraged. It was all about studying and knowledge. Even though she studied her heart out and scored number one, she received no approval from faculty, peers, or even her parents. It was just as expected. Even if she created an important robot that saved lives at the age of 16, it was only as expected. If she created a neural network that could restore scans of priceless images, it was as expected. Nothing she did gave her any approval.

She hated it. No matter what she did, she was still lonely. Robots and anonymity couldn't do a thing to stifle it. When she was picked to join Kurtzpel University, she decided to complete her path in life. She wasn't meant to be a genius with technology. No, that was only as expected. Her path in life was to make some friends!

Turns out, her path in life was 'dead in a bus crash' and waking up in another world. Maybe she could finally make some friends there.

EXTRAS
As much as Jyu-ni wants it, golems do not count as friends.

LEGEND
Born of the golems, the Dwema forged masterworks that pushed the boundaries of what could be done. However, no Dwema could manage to forge the very life that created them. They said it couldn't be done, but the constructor rose to the challenge. Forging a facsimile of life, the constructor created a golem. It was nothing more than a puppet compared to their ancestors, but it was the breath of life required to forge an army to face the darkness.

NOTABLE ITEMS
Armaments of the Creator — Formed of metal and magic, they take the form of two massive arms that float behind the wielder. They act as sword, shield, forge, and hammer in order to protect their master and create. They are freely controllable as if they were simply a second set of arms. By acting as a conduit for magic, they are able to bend and warp metal and inscribe life upon them.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Dwema Physique — Jyu-ni looks tougher than she looks. She can easily eat a few blows without crumbling into a mess, but she still feels it the next day.
Short — Cursed with the eternal height of 4', Jyu-ni is able to easily pick things up from the floor while being unable to reach the top shelf.

MAGICAL ABILITIES
Magic Condensing — Jyu-ni is able to condense raw mana into semi-volatile crystals. This allows for the usage of large spells to be cast without leylines, the powering of golems and other automatons, and improvised explosive devices. In the case of powering golems, Jyu-ni is able to inscribe "directions" on it, forming a makeshift computer of raw mana in order to act as the golem's brain and heart.
Manaforge Metallurgy — Using raw mana, Jyu-ni is able to turn metal into liquid without heat. From there, she can shape it how she chooses. Infusing it with a small amount of her magic, she's able to give metal simple orders to follow. Metal already infused with magic, be it her own or an enchanted weapon, is immune to the manaforge.

The adventurers who Matteo had found seemed to be leagues ahead of their ragtag group. The warrior could afford armour while the healer was clean. Compared to the three of them—emaciated, dirty, and using low-class gear—they seemed to be infinitely more capable. If they could join the two of them, they could much more safely earn off their debt... If they didn't die from whatever mission the two veterans had in store for them.

Matteo lead the pack, instantly unveiling their absolute ineptitude with an absurdly polite introduction of how garbage they were. Anyone experienced could instantly see that they were trash, but unveiling the truth so early stung horribly. But the noble knight entertained the thought. She didn't immediately toss the trio to the curb. They had a chance. Even if it was infinitesimally small.

If Ash had any pride left, she wouldn't do this. Fortunately, silver wasn't the only thing she'd run out of. Rather than Matteo exploding to his prepared kowtow, Ash stepped forward.

"Yes."

She knelt and kissed her boot before the knight had a chance to remove it. In front of everyone. Literally zero pride was displayed.

It wasn't the worst thing she stuck in her mouth in the past few days, after all.
agree ^

new page makes this look really awkward
anthem demo is pretty enjoyable so far

ya kno, besides all of the tech issues of the demo

combat feels like Mass Effect, The Division, Dark Void (REMEMBER THAT?), and Destiny fused together decently.

not the best game i've played, but it's not bad.
That should be enough ratcheting, right? Well, it was only a trial run. Even if it broke horribly, it would still prove that it could be done. With one last creak, the final bolt formed a jank-ass connection from a large barrel to the arm. It was considerably larger than before, actually. Rather than being smaller than a pistol, it was as though he stuck a rifle on. Well, not 'as though', considering he had literally stuck a rifle on. Placing a single bullet in the firing chamber, he slapped the robot on its ass, it automatically adjusting to the blow.

"Buddy, if this works, your greatest foe is going to be door knobs."

He hauled ass behind a thick wooden table. Was wood good enough? Eh, probably. It's not like he was a bomb maker. He could count all the ways demolitions experts sucked fat ones on his ten fingers. Coincidentally, his ten fingers was above the average amount compared to them. Suck it, sappers. He peeked over the table and took a good look at his creation. An upgrade to it, rather. Rather than firing those plinky 9x19 parabellums, it would fire .50 BMG. From a weak plinker to a god of destruction his boy was to become! Eagerly, he ducked his head down and pressed on his touch screen.

An explosion resounded through out Elias' workshop followed by a woody thunk. It definitely wasn't good. Carefully, he looked over the table at his pet. Thankfully, Laelaps was okay. The rifle was, er, less so. The barrel had been blown into a beautiful flower and the frame had been lodged somewhere between 'embedded into the table' and 'in his sound system'. Both, even. Rest in peace Jamiroquai, he thought. It was probably a bad idea to jump from 9mm to .50 BMG. Probably. Especially when he had a PhD in robotics and not engineering (or any practical experience with building guns, for that matter). Still though, there was always a next time.

As he went to inspect the full extend of damage, his arm began to vibrate. Rather, his arm-phone-controller thing. The screen displayed two messages. One from Pale Horse and one from CDA. While the job offer from Pale Horse was tempting, there was literally zero to pick them over CDA. Back to his old team, he thought as he accepted the job from CDA.

"C'mon buddy. Let's get you patched up so we can spite the shit out of John Browning. Fuck you, you time-traveling fuck."

He paused for a moment as he began to remove the broken arm & gun combo.

"I really need to make you talk. Would make me seem less lonely."

Finally getting out of the muck, their efforts had been rewarded with safe, stable ground. However, before Yui could even say 'Ayo, what's up my nerd?', Falk had warned them of a large swarm.

The explosive had collided directly with the large humanoid robot, a large explosion surrounded the area. Surprisingly, it obliterated everything. The humanoid robot and its quadrupedal friends were annihilated. Unfortunately, it obliterated everything. The very thing they had sworn (implied) to protect (implied) had been destroyed (literal). It wasn't even a "we can fix this later" type of repair job. No, the entire sensor was absolutely demolished. The explosion had triggered the batteries to also explode, the small relay essentially toppling onto itself and shattering into a irreparable mess.

“!”, Yui turned to face the bomber in a tree with her eyes open 110% and her annoyance palpable, “you just did that.” Her hand raised to head and then shot out a foot towards Falk in a fit of salt. “Why did you think that would be a good idea? I swear I'm going to SRK you when we make it out of this. Jeez, if we weren't surrounded before, we are now.”

Yui raised her blade. The batteries slide up the hilt and collided with her hand. In a swift motion, she thrust the blade backwards, lodging it into the ground and leapt forward. The long blade easily slid out of the hilt as the batteries were left hanging. She was ready to fight. Even if it meant unleashing her inner power.

Man, that was going to suck.
