@Pirouette Alright, nicely posted. Climbing on up. Alright. Time to write that. I'll probably write something this week-end, I won't be too busy. Teh-heh, how the weights of Snorunts became relevant. Haha.
@Pirouette Nope. I skipped Joshua and Rune there too. Because at that moment, those with no update for 9/7 days took priority and my day was busy enough already.
@Eklispe@Pikmin Eye@Pyromaniacwolf So, I'm going to operate on the assumption that nobody's going to complain about splitting up. Tell me if that's wrong. So, there, fast post because two of you have been waiting for a while. Now I have things I need to do. Have a nice day, everyone. Hah.
Nobody stopped Ducklett, so he flew back through the cave out of sight.
Karl and Anabelle were left flailing as they came crawling out of the river. Eventually, Karl got up enough to glare at Dawkin as he told them the information which he had heard. He was left frowning angrily, then looking down into the water.
‘… Pteh. I could have figured that.’ He spit into the water as he grabbed his Pokéballs and returned Shieldon and Poliwag to them. Didn’t seem like he was going to thank him.
‘I-I’m sorry for this…’ Anabelle said, looking worried. ‘W-we’ll call in and redouble the security of Wet Caverns. We didn’t know there were dragons in here… We’ll make sure their plans don’t come into fruition!’ Anabelle nodded, and took her Pokéballs to return Klink and Snover to their balls. ‘Thank you for your help. Here, please take these.’
Dawkin obtained 3 Super Potions!
Martin obtained 3 Super Potions!
Lucian obtained 3 Super Potions!
… Unless they declined for whatever reason.
‘… How many of those do you have?’ Karl asked, glaring at Anabelle.
‘Um. Another…’ Anabelle checked inside her (soaked) bag. ‘Fourteen. I stocked up well.’
‘… Geesh.’ Karl then glanced away in annoyance.
‘And these?’ Anabelle offered what appeared to be copies of her working cards to the three of them. It had her phone number. ‘If you ever want to report something to us, for any reason.’ She offered.
Then, Dawkin and Martin headed on, while Lucian turned back.
So, the two of them pressed on. There was water running which they had to wade through, probably needing to wave off more Zubats on the way, but soon enough… well, what do you know. Another three-way split, the water splitting two ways.
The majority of the river continued to the left, where it was just a turn of the water flowing down, but if they listened well enough, it sounded like the current got more violent down that direction. What could await there?
Straight ahead was a basically straight line on solid ground, allowing them to get out of the water, though there was yellow light in the end of it. They couldn’t see from here, but the light looked artificial.
Then to the right, there was a fairly nice pathway where there was dry land for walking on to the left side of the gentle stream of water. That particular tunnel grew wider, leading who knows where when it curved out of sight.
Nincada, though, would sense something.
In the water in the right cavern… there was definitely sunlight being reflected on the surface of that water. While the humans wouldn’t be able to notice it, Nincada (for better or worse, seeing the Nincada natural dislike of sunlight) would sense it. So, if he wanted to tell his trainer this… Yupp.
Lucian sought back through the cavern. Houndour was able to fairly easily track down the Ducklett, once again. He headed back through the river, past the two-way split, and back towards the entrance. Seemed like the Ducklett had actually known the way. So, tracking down the Ducklett…
Entrance of Wet Caverns
Back outside again, coming out of the Wet Caverns. No worries, Lucian could easily find the way back if he wanted to. But right now, he simply saw the duck having collapsed after its daring flight away from his captors. He was lying on the ground just outside the cave, turning his head to look back and forth to the left and right. There was no trainer in sight. Seemed like he was looking for his trainer, but couldn’t find her, and had no idea where she might have gone.
‘Ducklett…’ The duck gave a complaining sound, before suddenly flinching as he heard the sounds of Lucian approaching from behind. ‘Ducklett!’ The duck spun around, frowning as hard as a duck could, raising his wings in a fighting-pose as if the duck could defend himself with karate or something. Obviously he couldn’t, but he definitely looked like he thought he’d be attacked or something. Now it was up to Lucian how to approach this.
Inside a dimensional apartment, a meeting was taking place discussing crimes against common sense.
‘Anastasia and Lapis are scouted and judged worthy of kidnapping!’ Deni smirked happily as she concluded her report on two Magical Girls that she had been stalking, and Eli was writing notes on them.
‘Good. So, we strike at Anastasia during the day, since she's the only Magical Girl in the area active during daytime, and Lapis we'll deal with in twilight when she heads back to her country-side village after having been active in the big city.’ Eli nodded at her notes, before taking a new note and passing it to Deni. ‘Here's another girl. She calls herself Uberos Antique, Darkness-mage, real name Brittany Carroll. She's a stealth-expert, but I found where she lives, you should be able to find her there.’
‘I'm gonna stalk a stalker, eh.’ Deni smirked at this as she took Eli's note. ‘Going to be tricky. I like it, sounds fun. Leave it to me!’ She then grinned as she started reading the note and took in the information she needed.
‘...’ Mariette sat, clutching her bunny, staring at the two harpies that were discussing the matter of kidnapping girls. They had become quite efficient at this. But, something had started to bother Mariette. Something which she was going to voice now. ‘Our real goal. Have you found anything, Eli?’ She asked, slight irritation in her voice. Eli more than Deni should be scouting for that.
Deni and Eli both flinched a little. Deni could but smile awkwardly and look down, her hands were tied since all her hours were currently required for scouting out targets for kidnapping. Eli, on the other hand, was supposed to search for both. Eli, looking a bit worried, looked to Mariette and spoke.
‘I'm looking. However, Magical Girls consider themselves the apex predator of this system. They do not hide, and are as such very easy to find. Predators do not worry about themselves the same way. It is much harder, finding our prey...’ Eli told her, though it all sounded like avoiding the issue to Mariette. ‘I've been looking, but without much success.’ She concluded.
Mariette nodded, dissatisfied. ‘Continue, but keep this in mind.’ She eventually settled on. The girls then continued overlooking their notes, until...
Mariette heard a familiar sound coming from the top of her nightstand, and looked to see that the black crystal shimmered. It could only mean one thing; She wanted to speak to her. Picking it up, she then saw how Justine's projection of a fiery eye formed. Her voice once again resounded through the space the eye-patched girl and her two minions occupied.
"Greetings, Reflective Witch. How has the procurement of the vessels been? I assume you have had no difficulty completing your given task?"
Deni and Eli both flinched when the sound came, while Mariette simply remained calm and stood up to go and pick up the crystal with her right hand while her left yet clutched the stuffed bunny. She listened to the voice, and then responded.
‘The delivery of Magical Girls will be ready at the appointed time.’ Mariette simply told. There had been a minor... complication during the procurement of a particular specimen, but Mariette saw no need to mention that particular event.
"Excellent. Now then, I will specify the next vessel which you will acquire; bring me a magical girl of the Beacon, from Penrose and unharmed. This matter is of utmost importance, so you will be compensated accordingly. Understood?"
‘...’ So, Mariette had intentionally avoided taking anyone from Beacon, because of their unity. She also avoided taking too many from Penrose, so someone keeping track of who had been kidnapped couldn't find their base of operations there. But... one girl could be acceptable. Mariette didn't really like it, but she could do it. And at this point, not displeasing Justine was a priority. There were limits to what she would do, but...
‘Understood. I can do that.’ She answered after a few seconds of pause. ‘Do you want her delivered ahead of time?’ Mariette asked, since there seemed to be a specific purpose behind this one.
"Yes...Bring her as soon as you can. As for the rest of the vessels you have collected so far, you may bring them at the same time as well. We shall meet at the underground parking lots. Any other questions?"
Mariette considered briefly. ‘Among the girls delivered, there is at least one with Enhanced Transformation and similar tricks. Personally, I do not have the means to restrain all of them if placed back into this world all at once. Should I assume you have the means to handle them?’ She asked.
‘... Will Caroline be joining us?’ She added on the end.
Justine giggled. "Of course. If they are within reach, then we shall have no difficulty receiving them." She then turned silent at the second question, the eye closing and opening. "Why do you ask?"
Mariette was silent for numerous more seconds after Justine asked that question, needing to consider the reason herself.
‘I promised her to provide her with long-haired dolls. If she was there, I could prove to her directly that I have delivered upon my promise.’ She said. Then continued. ‘It is of no consequence if she's not there. It was merely a thought of idle curiosity which occurred to me. There are no problems. The girls will be delivered on time, with a Penrose Beacon girl in front.’ Mariette reaffirmed, to dismiss any suspicion or animosity which may have followed her question.
"Hmm...Is that so?" Justine pondered, her flaming eye looking her over. "But you do make a good point. I will ensure that my sister is present for the exchange, so that she may evaluate the goods. Thank you for your immense consideration. Now then, until we meet, goodbye~" And then, the crystal shut down; Mariette felt as if her question would have consequences, but she couldn't tell what exactly at the moment.
‘...’ Mariette stayed silent as the crystal shut down. Okay, Caroline would now be there. Hm. ... ... ... Well, no time to think excessively about that. She turned to her underlings. ‘Deni, Eli.’
‘Yes!’ ‘Here!’ Both girls had been listening intently and now both looked at their mistress with wide eyes.
‘We are to capture a Penrose Beacon girl. Eli. You have them all documented, correct?’ Mariette asked her Third Eye scout.
‘Of course. All in my notes.’ Eli confirmed, taking her notebook and holding it up for view. It wasn't very detailed notes, some didn't even have their names recorded, but all that Eli had confirmed were in the city.
‘Good. Deni?’ Mariette turned her eyes to her Genki, tireless scout.
‘Leave it to me!’ Deni grinned and saluted with her slimy wing. ‘I'll find you the easiest, juiciest target~!’
‘With long hair?’ Mariette questioned.
‘With LOOOOOOOOONG hair~!’ Deni giggled as she affirmed.
Mariette nodded to her and the planning of their most recent and most special abduction would now take place. Oh, yes. It would be fun to venture off to capture someone their planning had previously marked as off-limits...
And I reaffirm, the reason you weren't told to wait, was because there was no reason to wait. More like, I went to t2wave and Shifter_Master over PMs and was like "can we PLEASE have this happen some day prior" after I heard of your wish was going to happen and, yeah. There should be no clash. And if Eli's confronted now in the past, she's going to just bolt in terror, to ensure there will be no clashes. Yupp.
... So nobody try capture her in the past or something like that, please. XD
@BrokenPromise Nope. No need. The reason nobody told you to wait was because there was no reason to. It's just a scene I personally wanted Eli to experience sometime prior. Everything is juuuuuuuust fine.
Edit: "OTL"? One True Love? No, that doesn't seem right...
There we go. That was... a little something I wanted to have happened, preferably before that wish was made, hence the "prior" notice. Tell me if there's any problems.
