Erza commanded his Pokémon to attack, and neither had any trouble blasting off their attacks, despite the accuracy loss! Summer shot an ember, and Croagunk yelped from the sudden burst of fire-type damage, the blast managed to leave a lasting fire! Croagunk was burned! In addition, Flora drained at Makuhita, the upped Special Attack taking out the last of the Fighting-types strength and the super-powered mass of confusion fell fainted to the ground. At this point, Dale had realized he wasn’t about to win this battle, Burn ensuring he wouldn’t be doing damage, but he did what he could to do as much damage as possible!

‘Croagunk, Poison Sting the fox!’ Dale commanded, and Croagunk launched at Summer to sting her with his fingertips. It hit, doing some damage to Summer…! … But she managed to avoid being poisoned! Next turn the next Ember and even a weakened Mega Drain was enough to finally bring down Croagunk as well.

Flora grew to level 15!

Summer grew to level 15! Summer learned Fire Spin!


Erza was victorious! Erza gained 5206P for winning!


Fake Out, Mud Slap AND Poison Sting had probably reduced Summer to about 65% health.

Flora only took a Mud-Slap, so, like, 88%, perhaps.

Dale passed by close on his left side. ‘Keep the amount you just won secret, now, won’t you?’ Dale whispered, before walking on to join the rest of the Black Belts and Battle Girls.

‘… Mud-Slap, Poison Sting… It occurs to me, but you’re fighting pretty dirty, aren’t you?’ Madeline told Dale, looking a bit displeased. Dale grinned.

‘Fighting dirty is a way of fighting, Made!’ Dale told her happily.

‘Hmpf, if you say so,’ Madeline said, and then walked forward. ‘Okay, me next!’

And then Erza promptly beat her (as established in earlier posts).

‘OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH-!’ Hector grinned as he let out a loud shout, revving up his right arm, making ready to battle.

‘I’m fired up! I’m fired up! You beat them all! Awesome, AWESOME!’ Hector grinned, and the rest were moving to make room. Even those that had just been training before were now looking over to see the action, Erza having gained quite an audience from the inhabitants of the gym.

‘Kid! What’s your name!?’ Hector asked, still grinning at him. He’s wait for a reply, and then call out. ‘You’re now a recognized challenger of a Pokémon Gym! From here on out, you’re expected to face any opponent with guts and glory, fight your way through any challenge until you’ve secured your badge! I am Hector! Leader of Redcoast City Gym! You’ve challenged me, AND I’VE ACCEPTED!’ Hector shouted, and then reached out with his hands to the sides, palms upwards.

‘ISABELLE! CONRAD!’ Hector called out. Basically instantly, a Battle Girl and a Black Belt grabbed a Pokéball each and threw them over the room so that Hector could catch them in his left and right hands respectively… and his arms crossed in front of him so that he caught each ball with the hand that had started on the opposite side.

‘We’re making this a double battle. We keep it going until either of us run out of Pokémon. I will only use these two. This does not mean your challenge will be easy. I wish you good luck, because you will need it,’ Hector said, before throwing the Pokéballs up into the air, the two balls crashing into one another. The impact was enough for the balls to open, and two creatures fell down.

‘The Gym Battle for the Challenge Badge begins NOW!’

Erika managed to pass Ellyn and Maple unnoticed, the two girls continuing to wander on chattering, or mostly Maple chattering anyways. Then, she listened to the guy by the gym, before making her conviction to him.

‘Now that’s the conviction of a champion-to-be! Go make her proud!’ Gym Guy told her, giving her a smile and waving Erika into the Gym. With that, she ascended the stairs and engaged the first opponent. Tanya, the Aroma Lady.

‘Safeguard!? Fuhuhu, I see you’ve prepared!’ Tanya laughed out as Tara blocked the Stun Spore with said move. Tara VS Shroomish, Tara found herself Leech Seeded but Peck did way more damage against Shroomish anyway. Shroomish managed two counter-Tackles, one of which caused a lucky powerful Critical Hit on Tara, but Tara regardless won out the battle with Super Effective Pecks, and Safeguard protects against Effect Spore since Gen V!.

Tangela Vine Whipped at Tara, but wasn’t able to block Safeguard being reinforced once again. Chic came out, and Tangela kept up the Vine Whips because they were his best possible attack at this point. Chic took some Vine Whip damage, but in the end Ember did far more damage and Tangela fainted, with one more turn of Safeguard to go.

Eep VS Treecko! … Absorb, Quick Attack, Leer. Doesn’t entirely matter, Eep stonewalled the lizard, none of its attacks particularly effective against her superior defense. Confuse Ray made Treecko hurt itself half the time, Ingrain neutralized any damage Treecko managed to do, and then Acid did the rest. Notably, though, Tanya’s Pokémon in general were obviously weaker than those Erika had trained. No levels awarded.

Erika was victorious! Erika gained 342P for winning!


‘Fuhu… hu… Well! I did my job! I keep all the kids out, as the weakest trainer of a Pokémon Gym! But, honestly, it’s a bit demoralizing, having to sit here with an intentionally weak team and have trainers with five days of experience beating me day after day…’ So Tanya complained a bit, but nonetheless smiled and gestured to Erika to move on.

She met with Daisy again.

‘… Oh my. It seems like I’m not very… oh, well!’ Daisy said, first a little taken aback, but then reinforcing it with a smile, still engaging in the battle like this.

Eep VS Whimsicott! Eep Ingrained herself, while Whimsicott successfully spewed Stun Spore around her, paralyzing Eep. This meant Whimsicott was fasted for the next move, firing off a Mega Drain for neutral damage, high Special Attack clashing against Eep’s higher Special Defense. Unfortunately, Eep couldn’t move due to paralyzation, letting Whimsicott do another Mega Drain, but Ingrain was actively working against the damage. Next turn Eep managed to send out a Confuse Ray that hit Whimsicott, confusing the target.

Next turn Whimsicott damaged itself in confusion! This while Eep shot Super Effective x4 Acid at the cloud, which did some serious damage! Next turn… Whimsicott damaged itself in confusion again, while Eep kept Ingrain healing and shot another Super Effective Acid! And that… that was too much! Whimsicott fainted!

Eep grew to level 15!


Kay VS Lombre! Neither Pokémon had a move that was especially effective against the other, so it was a straight up competition for who could outlast the other’s moves! Lombre fought with Bubble, who was a bit faster and as such struck first, but… but Foul Play was a so much more potent attack move it was ridiculous. The dark ball of energy slammed into Lombre multiple times, far stronger than its own Bubble. No critical hits or special effects, Foul Play just did far more damage than Bubble and Lombre eventually fainted.

Tara came out first against Vivillion. Vivillon came speeding across the distance between them at a great speed, but Tara still managed to get off Safeguard in time for when the Sleep Powder came falling. Safe for now, Erika switched to Sno… who immediately took a pretty powerful Struggle Bug attack upon exit. Sno replied with an Icy Wind, doing super-effective damage and slowing the bug down a bit. Safeguard protecting her, Vivillon Stuggle Bugged again, doing considerable damage and leaving Sno with considerably little health… but Sno successfully sent back a strong Icy Wind, trapping the flying bug in a hail of ice! Critical Hit! Vivillon fainted.

Sno grew to level 16!

Erika was victorious! Erika gained 445P for winning!


‘Ara. Looks like you won. You’ve clearly done some training, and caught a Swablu for the status effects. Good job! You can now keep going!’ Daisy said, still with a smile.

Then, against Ramsey.

Chic VS Skiddo. Skiddo got a Leech Seed off on Chic first, but that did little to balance the damage Chic did with Ember back. Chic found herself tackled, taking significant damage, but Chic managed to topple Skiddo as intended with Ember, burning the grass-goat down. Skiddo fainted.

Chic is almost to level 16… like, it wouldn’t take a fainting an opponent, necessarily, but perhaps just a bit of pressure and determination in a heated battle…

Tara VS Leafeon. Sand-Attack was immediately met by Mist, the sands doing nothing but dispersing against the protective fog that Tara had called upon. With that, nothing had happened that round. Ramsey then simple commanded Leafeon to Quick Attack, so it became a Quick Attack VS Peck battle. Now, here’s a thing. Leafeon has an absurd amount of defense, and a respectably high attack power, more so than Tara. Even with all forms of type-advantages, Tara was not necessarily doing more damage per hit with Peck than Leafeon was with Quick Attack. Then, came the time when Tara had to raise a new Mist… and succeeded, but then came Leafeon with a powerful SLAM of a Quick Attack, striking Tara down from midair. Critical hit! Tara fainted. However, Leafeon didn’t have all that much health left. Say 35%. Still, Leafeon still stood, watching for the next opponent.

Despite having fainted, Tara put up a good fight, so…

Tara grew to level 15!


Relief Pokémon was Gibs, who showed up in front of Leafeon. Sandstorm first, blowing up a huge storm of sand in front of Leafeon… who unleashed a flurry of Razor Leaves at Gibs, which not only hit despite Sand Veil but also managed to score a highly damaging Critical Hit at the dragon-ground type, doing heavy damage! Gibs was almost out by that single attack! Next turn, after Leafeon got buffeted by some sand, the two hurt Pokémon faced off with determination… and one unleashed another hail of Razor Leaves, while Gibs blasted off a fiery surge of Dragon Rage! … The leaves arced around the Dragon Rage and cut into Gibs, the dragon-type misfortunate enough to suffer ANOTHER Critical Hit despite the sandstorm! Gibs fainted! … However! The Dragon Rage he’d shot flew on towards Leafeon, who was too tired to dodge! The Dragon Rage fire hit straight on in a purple burst, sending the eeveelution rolling back and curling together…! Leafeon fainted!

Gibs grew to level 17!


Kay VS Nuzleaf! Ramsey peered at Kay for a bit, and then decided to go with just shooting Razor Leaves! Kay got up her Reflect, halving the damage of the dangerous leaves. Nuzleaf was faster, so it got off another Razor Leaf attack, hitting Kay for half normal damage again for one complete damage… and then Inkay Swaggered him! Attack raised sharply, but he was confused! This, however, meant there was one dangerous attack between Kay and Topsy-Turvy… And Nuzleaf successfully threw out Razor Leaf, and what’s even worse, it managed to get a Critical Hit on Kay, and Critical Hits bypass Reflect to become even worse! Kay fainted!

Tara, Gibs and Kay had all fainted against Ramsey’s Pokémon. All to critical hits, notably, which had nothing to do with anything but bad luck and Razor Leaf’s increased Crit rate. Nuzleaf’s attack had been raised significantly, but he was confused. Reflect still guarded Erika’s team for two more turns. What would Erika do to reply?

Both Vivia’s and the wild Goomy paused what they were doing when the rest of Skylar’s Pokémon inserted their opinions into the situation. Wild Goomy was already looking like she’d decided she’d overstayed her welcome… and that’s when Celebrity did what Celebrity does best: take issue with that someone else was getting her pats. Goomy spun around in wild panic and then did her best attempt to spin about more to slide off and save herself, but Celebrity sung out her song that hit the wild Goomy head on, and Goomy fell asleep.

Skylar, taking advantage of this, grabbed a third Pokéball and threw it at Goomy, the sleeping slime being absorbed into the Pokéball once again in a shine of light…

It rolled once! It rolled twi-!

‘Sure, I’d be happy to. Always nice to meet an young person actually interested in exploring ruins!’ Wilhelm said, happily providing Eryn with his number. Then, it was off to heal.

Fortunately for Eryn, food only costs money if you’re in Redcoast City (in exchange for that they might become happier by eating there), so she gets to eat for free. It probably cost money, but we’re not counting it. They did get a couple curious looks walking through town, given she and Eri looked like identical twins.

So, then, here’s a thing. Trainers on their own, that’s sort of easy to find anywhere around here. People who are actually on the level where they can challenge Lesley? Now those are rare, the cream of the crop. She kept her eyes on the door… then this somewhat fancily clad man with lavish ear ornaments stopped beside it. He opened a Pokéball, and this decently huge purple dragon-bat cross took shape, and he started having a conversation with his Pokémon. Suppose he matches the description?

So Eryn walks forth to talk to him…

‘Oh?’ he makes a curious sound, looking in their direction. ‘What are these precious saplings doing talking to little old me? … Hm-hm-hm, I do suppose I do look like someone who would have the experience they’re seeking…’



‘I’m Braith. A pleasure to meet you, two identical misses,’ he said, giving Eri a curious look as he looked between the two of you.

Too late, can’t escape now.

‘Landmarks and the like? Hm-hm. Do you little ladies know about the true Dragon Lake, then? Sure, all of the lake is typically called the Dragon Lake, but most is just Route 14. In the northern half of the lake, however, there’s a place with rocks surrounding it, a closed-off section surrounded by cliffs with a single entrance in the south. This is where the dragons truly live. That’s where their nests are, and where they live out their young lives, usually. That’s the fort that the Lakewatchers protect. How’s that for a landmark?’

‘Mining inside the Frozen Cave is always fun, though I’d dissuade you from trying to go deeper inside, Route 9 and Mt. Chill is not for inexperienced trainers. If you’d like to go to Cooldome City, go through the eastern Tunnel. Cooldome City doesn’t have much to offer the less experienced trainers, other than as audience when more experienced trainers clash. Those born of Cooldome City are a different sort, molded for Pokémon Battle… It’s a sight to behold. Still… if you look into the lone house on Route 5, the Trail Master should be able to prepare something fun for you. Hm-hm.’

‘If you wish to cross Route 6, I recommend trying out doing it via the Rapidash service. Few things beat travelling over the plains as such high speeds, I guarantee. Oh, and don’t be afraid of getting lost in Endless Forest. Just head straight in any direction, and you’ll come out of it eventually. It’s a pleasant forest where you don’t have to worry what direction you’re going, just entrust yourself to the forest itself, and you’ll find your way. It’s such a pleasant experience.’

‘Oh, this town? There isn’t much here. Explorer’s Guide Service has maps and can give you tips on finding Pokémon, if you find yourself backed into a corner. Otherwise, it’s just obsessed with their dragons. There’s Descent Tower, but it’s really only good for one visit then you’ve basically seen it all. There isn’t much down there, unless you like that sort of thing, I suppose. No, the reason I’m here is Lesley. Even among the Major League Gym Leaders, she’s known to be a challenge. I’m going to be overworking Cloyster, that’s for sure. No worries, she can handle it. I haven’t challenged Lesley yet, but it’s sure to be a thrilling battle. I’m only a few steps short of the Pokémon League challenge. Hm-hm-hm!’ so he says.

In case she still wanted to ask for his contact information.

‘Oh? My number?’ he asked. ‘… Now, now, that’s a little too much excitement. What would happen to my reputation if I was found collecting contacts among the young female trainers of the world? Hm-hm-hm, I digress. Very well, I’ll give you the honour of having my contact information. Only because, I’m honestly worried the next person you ask that will accept may be a far worse person than I am, hm-hm!’ … And with that, obtained Braith’s contact info.

Now, then. Onwards.

Lakewatcher Base. The place is a decently big building with random trainers just walking about and getting prepared for their duty. They’re probably the main employers of people in Lakewatch Town, and the force always standing on duty to fighting off the supposed dragon-poachers that were so numerous in the past. Team Amethyst has been in decline, but still. There’s plenty of smaller ships docked by the building, and they seemingly had a personal harbour. Regardless, Eryn headed in and to the counter to the receptionist. … Who, along with most of the employees, probably, looks like a typical sailor.



‘Welcome, trainers. Have you come to help us out tonight?’ he asked, looking at Eryn and Eri. ‘Allow me to explain. We have a fair amount of patrollers each night, but we always have use of volunteers that also ride around at night preventing any infiltrators from trying to catch themselves dragons when they think we’re not watching. We offer 6,000P per night per trainer, albeit we may halve it if you fail to prevent an infiltrator or even retract it entirely if it’s reported that you were lazing on the job. You’ll be part of a team, so we need to know we can count on you. … Oh, and if you try to make use of the position to catch a dragon, we’ll have you pay a 20,000P fine and be banned from working in Lakewatch Town, taking the Route 14 ferry or even surfing on this lake ever again, and probably have Lesley absolutely hate you if you ever feel like challenging her gym.’ Just minor things.

‘We do appreciate flying Pokémon with the ability Keen Eye or water Pokémon that can keep a lookout under the surface without falling prey to Carvanha. If you have any of those, we reward 8,000P per night instead, or 3,000P per night if you’d just leave the Pokémon for us to use over the night. That’s all. What say you?’

So he asks.

Though, like, if she says she asks to just hang along a patrol…

‘… Hm. Yeah, that’s fine. Extra pairs of eyes we don’t need to pay for, I suppose, for a limited time,’ he’d reply, looking at them quizzically. ‘I’m going to say that the penalties for betraying our trust still applies, however.’

So, what would Eryn do?

Connected areas:
Wet Caverns. Water-filled caverns that are located to the east. There’s a small hill to climb to get to the entrance.
Route 5. The main exit of Lakewatch, leading to a grassy incline connecting mountains, forests and plains.
Route 14. The waters of Dragon Lake are also known as Route 14. It connects Lakewatch Town, Highhill Town and Stillwood Village.

‘Wait, that’s… that’s a Pokédex!?’ Florrie blinks a bit in realization. ‘Th-then, you’re…!?’ she looks at Dawkin wide-eyed. ‘O-okay, let’s go!’ she said, still wide-eyed and thinking about it as they were heading on.

After healing at the Pokémon Center, Florrie was there waiting for him. She looked nervous.

‘… I’ll answer your questions, if you come with me to the Raremine Research Lab. It’s… a sensitive subject,’ she informs. So, would Dawkin follow her to the research lab? Entirely up to him, of course. If not, skip this next hider.



… And if he didn’t? What’ll he do, then?





Connected areas:
Route 6. The Vast Plains open up to the north of Raremine. The shorter paths lead to Route 8 and 16, while west far enough leads to Lakewatch Town.
Route 7. The single rocky desert of Isson, it connects to the Desert Mines, the Old Tombs and to the Mythic Oasis.

‘Alright. Okay, Aero, we’re getting a passenger,’ Jacques told his Aerodactyl, who gave a nondescript cry that didn’t really sound like a confirmation but okay. With that, assumingly, Amelia would head over to obtain this ride. Jacques put on some form of harness on the flying dinosaur Pokémon that he could hold, and then informed Amelia to hold onto him. We’ll go with the assumption that this doesn’t feel as absurdly dangerous as it would be in real life. With that done, and Jacques making sure that Amelia had a good grip, he commanded Aerodactyl to lift.

Aerodactyl lifted with powerful waves of his wings, the rock-Pokémon’s wings powerful after having been trained by an Elite Four, and the Pokémon easily lifted both humans high up into the air, allowing Amelia one impressive view. She could see all over Route 6, all the wild Pokémon running around. In the distance over Route 8 she could see the rising town of Freecape City, leaning over the edge of the cliffs towards the ocean. Unfortunately, preventing her from seeing further north was Mt. Chill, the mountain range higher than Aerodactyl was planning on flying. South was the desert she’d just left, which really didn’t look particularly large from up here, but the eternal sandstorm over the western part made it somewhat hard to judge.

Flying west at a high speed, they headed over Endless Forest. Trees blocked sight of everything else. Further north was Route 5, and north of that was Stillwood Forest, within which Stillwood Village was housed. Now the Mt. Strength mountain line presented itself in the north, as Jacques took a turn to fly over Dragon Lake on the way. On the south was the mountain that housed the Wet Caverns… Odd was it, perhaps, that the top of this mountain opened itself up like it was a volcano or something, but it was too high up there so Amelia could not see what it contained.

Regardless, soon enough they flew past Highhill Town, Silent Forest on the right, Infested Woods on the left and Route 2 and 1 closer to beneath, as they approached Pureplain City. From this altitude, it was obvious just how far the suburbs of Pureplain City had spread, and what a massive plain Pureplain must have been before Pureplain City had grown up to occupy it. That said… it was time to touch down.

Aerodactyl landed them right in front of Kalmia’s lab. A simple building with an outgrowth on the side that was Kalmia’s own home. Jacques helped Amelia down, before recalling Aerodactyl and giving Amelia a smile.

‘That will do. I won’t fly you back, however. That journey you’ll have to do again. Good luck on your future endeavours, Amelia. Now, time for me to go bother Dorian about a matter, then it’s right back to seeing to Angelique…’ Jacques said, sighing a bit before tilting his hat a bit and starting to wander off.

Now, Amelia had found herself by Kalmia’s lab again. Under the assumption that she’ll go over to the door…

If she knocks or otherwise calls for attention, Kalmia comes over and opens the door. If she just opens the door, she’ll find that it’s open and that Kalmia’s sitting by her computer on the other end. Regardless, the following scene is displayed before her.

So, there’s a bunch of hot servers in the far away and right. There’s shelves and furniture arranged in a circle… and there’s a bunch of Pokémon here for Amelia to dodge if she wants through. Specifically, every single Pokémon that has been put inside the box by one of Kalmia’s trainers.

Any of you can have your Pokémon impact the scene if you so feel like it. Just take the following paragraph into consideration.

More than that, however, there were two children here. Two giggling, happy children who was currently occupying their time chasing after and playing with the various Pokémon in here, with plenty of treats on their belts and willing to give pats to whatever Pokémon wanted them, but was also actively seeking out and trying to engage with the shy ones and chase them down if so be it! Though, while the twins were unfamiliar to Amelia, didn’t they look somewhat similar someone Amelia had seen not long ago…?





‘Amelia! Come in!’ Kalmia said, looking surprised but happy to see her.

‘Oooooh, a trainer! Are any of these yours!?’ one of the kids immediately stopped to ask.
‘Have you met with big bro!? How's he doing!?’ the other twin asked. Both were really eager.

‘… These are Timothy and Thomas, Dawkin’s younger brothers. Since Jacques stole my last assistant, I had to get new ones. They’re are enthusiastic, I'll give them that, and are also a whole heap of trouble,’ Kalmia said with a little smile, Tim and Tom grinning widely at Amelia, not catching that last bit. ‘Anyways! I just received your Pokémon, and you’re already here! Your Pokémon are over there, safe and sure!’ Kalmia said, gesturing over to the Pokémon, among all those other Pokémon.

‘… Goom,’ Goomy said as Skylar reached down to pat her. So, the Pokédex says that grabbing a Goomy is bad, but patting is probably fine. Skylar would find the surface of the Pokémon to be exceedingly slimy and slippery, to the degree punches and kicks just slide off without doing damage apparently, but he still managed to pat the creature, the little slimeball shuddering slightly under his touch.

‘Go-ooom~’ Goomy made a pleased noise, and then was offered another banana. The Pokémon was quick to accept, happily biting on another banana while being patted by Skylar. Seeing how this was going so well, Skylar could take his next Pokéball and tap Goomy with that one, too. Goomy was transferred into the Pokéball, which fell down onto the forest floor to roll.

The Pokéball rolled once. It rolled twice. It rolled thrice…!

Claire earned herself plenty of waves from the staff at the Game Corner as she left, calls of that “I hope you’ll return!” and otherwise, as she kept her new Larvitar and went on with her journey. She entered the more peaceful Residential District. Here the atmosphere was calmer, far more families and children walking about, having little laughs… or crying their hearts out for a reason or other… while Claire continued her wandering through the strange architecture of Worldedge City. That was, before she found this little stadium marked the Little Cup, which she entered and went to the front desk of…

‘Welcome, miss, to the Little Cup stadium!’ the man behind the desk said. ‘Little Cup exists to ensure even the smallest of us get to experience Pokémon Battle on a level with actual stakes. With that, Claire boasted to the crowd, none of them actually looking too interested in an autograph though they did seem surprised at her winning. Then, it was off to the price corner.

‘Yes, ma’am!’ the lady behind the desk said, starting to collect the coins. ‘That has to be one of the shortest amount of time anyone has ever obtained 20,000 coins in at this Game Corner. Well done! One Larvitar coming up! Which gender do you want?’ she asked.

‘You did!?’ Vivia called out and came running over. ‘Thank Arceus! I was starting to think me finding Goomy here might have been some kind of mistake…!’

‘Goomy!’ Vivia’s Goomy called, still in her embrace.

‘Goomy?’ the wild Goomy asked, as the bit of banana was left for her. She pulled forward, inspecting the banana and then taking a bite out of it, and finding it delicious. ‘Goomy!’ the Goomy called, opening the slime’s mouth and consuming the banana, looking super-happy for the moment. Then, Skylar offered the rest of the banana, and Goomy seemed happy enough to eat from the rest directly from his hand. With it proceeding this well, it was simple enough to pat her with a Pokéball, and Goomy was absorbed into the ball!

The ball rolled once…!

‘It was…’ Vivia replied to what Skylar said, though, then it was refocusing on the woods themselves. Goomy seemed more comfortable with Vivia all of a sudden, for some reason. ‘… Okay, let’s see if we can find any of your friends, Goomy.’

‘Goomy!’ Goomy replied, a bit more enthusiastically.

So, training against some grass-types. Went pretty well, especially for Seabreeze. Mac did have the problem that his fire was being recreased in capability by the rain, but that just meant he was doing a normal amount of damage with the fire on the grass-type opponents. Celebrity did averagely, while Smiley got to peek in occasionally, just because.

Seabreeze grew to level 14!
Celebrity grew to level 13!
Mac grew to level 12! Mac learned Sand Attack!
Smiley grew to level 8!


Eventually, after more than an hour of searching and looking about, with Vivia training her own Pokémon minus Rotom in the wild as well… finally, something of the right colour could be found underneath the roots of a tree, in a little spring of water found down there.



Pokédex Entry #704 – Goomy, the Soft Tissue Pokémon. Known as the “weakest Dragon-Pokémon”. As it’s composed mostly of water it lives in damp, shady places so its body doesn’t dry out. It’s covered by a slimy, slippery membrane that makes attack slide off harmlessly, but they’re very sensitive so touching it is like a shock to it, leaving it unable to move.


‘… Goomy?’ the dragon slime asked whatever being it was that found it hiding under the tree.

Jacques turned and looked with interest as another man showed up to say hi. With the introduction made, Jacques tilted his hat a bit and nodded in greeting, smiling a little to the new arrival.

‘A pleasure to meet you, as well,’ Jacques told, looking a bit curiously at Joshua.

They then had their little conversation without even minding the Elite Four that just happened to be there and listening to them. Shedinja was still where she’d last seen it, and stayed completely motionless still as she petted its hard shell. Still, that was enough, and she could now move on.

So, she arrived at the edge of town, and intended to head back to Pureplain City… when she heard the Elite Four speaking from behind her.

‘Are you… going to head all the way back… on foot?’ Jacques asked, looking her over a bit curiously, tilting his head while gazing at him through his glasses. He did that a couple of seconds, before taking out a Pokéball and calling out a huge rock creature with wings.



Pokédex Entry #142 – Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokémon. A Pokémon who roamed the skies in the age of dinosaurs, it has today been regenerated from genetic material found in amber. It’s a savage creature that is known to go for the throats of opponents with its sharp claws.


‘… Do you want a ride? I actually have some business with Dorian…’ Jacques told, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

Up to her if she wants that. Otherwise, she’s free to proceed onto Route 6.

More Route 6. West is a vast plain that seem to stretch on endlessly, locked between the mountains of Mt. Chill and the cliffs of the southern sea. Eventually leads to Lakewatch Town.

Stalford’s Ferry. North-east, to take a ferry across Route 16 towards Witchpeak City. The only pleasant way across Route 16 is onboard a ferry, but even then…
Raremine Town. A town of miners and researchers that study what the miners find. Also a stop for those who want to travel the desert!



However, like, she’s crossed it once, and a ghost-type’s speciality is running away successfully no matter the pursuer, correct?

Magnemite took an Ember and fainted immediately!

Tula absorbed Nuzleaf’s Fake Out from there, ensuring that this strategy didn’t do extra damage to any other Pokémon, though did Eryn know that? Still, Tula struggled once at Nuzleaf, who then promptly Razor Leafed back, super effective and critical hit, Tula fainted. Good effort, though?

Eri afterwards, no disguise described. Eri faked tears, lowering Nuzleaf’s Special Defense, but then got Razor Leafed in return. Eri Fury Swiped, doing some damage to the leaf-creature, but it became immediately pretty clear that Nuzleaf’s Razor Leaves were doing more damage. Eryn changed Pokémon to Dei… and Razor Leaf turned ineffective. Dei Embered, and because of lowered Special Defense did a dramatic amount of damage to Nuzleaf. Nuzleaf shot a Nature Power Stun Spore at Dei, causing paralyzation, but it couldn’t stop Dei from shooting another ember and burning down the enemy. Nuzleaf fainted!

Dei grew to level 15!
Tula grew to level 14!
Erebi grew to level 15!

Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 489P for winning!


‘Well done! But, the water-Pokémon you mentioned, it wouldn’t happen to be your Magikarp? I’m… afraid I don’t think a Magikarp would be able to safely pull us down. Perhaps after evolution?’ Wilhelm said, and… there’s a point in what he’s saying. Plenty of Magikarp’s Pokédex entries tells how even a light current will pull a Magikarp along. It cannot learn Dive in any way, shape nor form. Tula unfortunately cannot dive while pulling you along in this state.

In any case! Back to Lakewatch Town to heal! Then what?

If Dawkin and Amelia would like to talk once more before being separated, there’s a time in between here. Dawkin’s (probably?) heading for the Pokémon Center, which will take him by the Bug Garden. That could be at around the same time as Amelia exits the Bug Garden to head through the gates and embark on her journey home. This would be before Jacques came after Amelia to look if she’d really go on foot, and also Florrie would already have passed because she does things at high speed when she’s alarmed. So, there could be a small time for discussion there. Potentially.

‘Farfetch'd,’ Farfetch’d called, and took off somewhere, apparently not about to follow her, so she’d be heading back on her own. That said, she was soon in Stillwood Village.



Then, after a brief visit to the Pokémon Center to heal and get her team together, she headed for the Gym, was it?

The Pokémon Gym of Stillwood Village was a large treehouse, with a large stair leading up towards it. It was a grand creation, round creation circling the tree in white, pillars that looked like sprouted trees holding it afloat over the ground beneath. Under the treehouse was a nest of plenty of Pokémon. By the start of the stairs was a sign, declaring what this gym was.

There were two girls walking away from the Gym that Erika might recognize…



'That was so much fun! Archie had so many interesting tricks up his Pokémon’s sleeves!' Maple laughed, walking away holding a badge of some kind.

'Ueh... fun for you, maybe… your team is all fire… That was so tiring…' Ellyn said, looking mentally drained. Still, she too, was clutching something in her hand.

'Still, you won, didn’t you?' Maple asks with a laugh.

'Only due to bad luck on his part, with that confusion…' Ellyn sighed, and the two girls walked on…

Up to Erika if she bothered with the two of them. Otherwise, a guy she’d seen the last time she read the sign of the Pokémon Gym stood there, and now eagerly looked towards her.

‘Welcome back! I’m happy to see you return!’ he called.



‘Since you didn’t actually challenge the gym last time, I can imagine the details of my explanation remains fuzzy. If so, I’d be more than happy to explain again for our newest champ-to-be!’ the guy said, in case Erika wanted to listen to him talk.

‘…’ Valerie did not reply to Claire’s apologies for Ralia’s actions, merely turned towards the bets now. She frowned as Claire put her bet on Grassball, but refrained from commenting on it. With all that done, it was simply a matter to wait for the race to start.

The call for the race to begin sounded off…

And the absolutely first thing, out of the gates, what happened was that both Empress and Zodiac spun and unleashed a Drill Peck each at Dread Divers, who called out in pain as he was hit and was launched backwards, straight into a panicked and surprised Lucky who was hit by the sudden missile that was the hit Dread Divers.

The only Dodrio that actually ran for the goal was Grassball.

Dread Divers quickly got up, glaring with all his force at Empress and Zodiac with all three heads… and then he Thrashed himself into combat, Empress and Zodiac meeting him with stride. A fierce fight with Drill Pecks, Trash and Tri Attacks flew off in various directions, with an excited audience that somehow relished in that it was a battle and not a race, while a panicked Lucky somehow snook off and took off after Grassball, quickly catching up.

The smoke settled… and Dread Divers still stood. Empress and Zodiac both lay fainted at his feet. Then, Dread Divers took off like a dark bolt towards the front line, after Lucky. Visibly straight after Lucky. Lucky noticed, and with a panic in all three pairs of eyes she jumped off the race-track, hiding at the wall. Dread Divers dismissed her as unworthy, and then dashed after Grassball. Dread Divers easily caught up with the shiny Dodrio, much faster in his strides. If Dread Divers won, Valerie would still be the one to win the bet. Dread Divers, in all his violence, aimed in a Trashing kick at Grassball’s back…

And Grassball tripped on her own, meaning all the force of Dread Divers’ destructive Trash kick went straight over her back at full speed. Because of the angle of the kick, Dread Divers flew off with a panicked shout, the force of the kick that did not impact carried the confused Dodrio way overhead and into the wall on the other side of the race-track, crashing into it with enough force to cause a Dordio-shaped hole to crack open. Dread Divers hurt himself in confusion! Dread Divers fainted!

Grassball stood up, shook her three heads, and waltzed over the finish line.

Claire won 10,000 coins!


A massive amount of cheers erupted around the audience, apparently thinking this was the greatest show in quite a while. Valerie, meanwhile, just watched with somewhat empty eyes while Claire no doubt had some form of reaction. Eventually, Valerie simply sighed, and then turned around as if to leave. Before doing so, she opened her coin case and dumped an additional 10,000 coins onto the table next to her.

Claire obtained an additional 10,000 coins!


‘Congratulations. It would seem you have won. I’ll be taking my leave for today. Tonight, you’re the Queen of the Game Corner… whoever you are,’ Valerie said, because Claire never introduced herself. With that, and with a Fletchinder on her shoulder, Valerie walked to leave. There were numerous people, those same fans of Valerie, that were looking at Claire with some degree of awe now.

‘I can’t believe it…’
‘The Queen… lost?’
‘Who… who is this girl?’

They sounded an awful lot like Claire had won in something more than just a game of chance.

Also, because Dread Divers had KOd Empress, Zodiac and then himself, the Dodrio races with be called off for the reminder of today, attraction closed, look elsewhere.

Claire has found herself with the grand total of 20,970 coins.

‘Aww,’ Jamie made a little disappointed noise at that Eryn didn’t actually know where Mawiles came from. ‘Guess I can ask the staff, though!’ Then there was the little part about sharing contact information in case Eryn finds something about those rocks. ‘Oh. Yeah, sure! I hope you’ll find something, then! I look forward to hearing from you again!’ Jamie said, excited.

Eryn obtained Lass Jamie’s contact information!


Adrian indeed bolted when Eryn started lecturing him, along with a frown and a click of the tongue. So, he was off, leaving Eryn lecturing thin air. Later, though.

‘I wasn’t celebrating early! I knew I’d lose to the next Pokémon, I was just celebrating having taken down at least one Pokémon…’ Mason defended himself with a sigh. Then there was the part about the Frozen Cave, and the question about if he did mining. ‘Well, er, not extensively. I’m not cut out for physical labour, you know? But I did find the bell in the ice. Which is weird, aren’t those bells a relatively recent invention, in comparison? Eh, I don’t know,’ Mason finally said, and probably stood up to walk off somewhere about now.

Against Wilhelm’s Magnemite. Eryn used a Potion, which regained around half of Kylie’s health, but then another Thunder Shock bit off around 30% of her max health. Kylie then went in to bite. Bite was the stronger move, but this was offset by the fact Kylie was no Dark-type, while Magnemite was an electric-type doing electricity… but that was in-turn offset by that Kylie managed to Critical Hit Magnemite with one fierce Bite, as revenge for that previous Thunder Shock! After that, it became a pure Thunder Shock VS Bite battle, on roughly even terms… However, in the end, Magnemite’s best stat is its Special Attack and with decent defense, while Kylie’s special defense wasn’t as formidable, so after an arduous battle Kylie fainted first. Magnemite was about to basically faint, however, and would be knocked out by whatever Eryn sent out next.

‘I know, right? I’m pretty proud if him!’ Wilhelm said when Nuzleaf came out, the Grass-Dark type ready for battle.

So, without Kylie’s Taunt, how would Eryn start out this battle? Continue with the same strategy, just remove the first part? If so, I can just edit in here.

‘Huh? You mean you’re actually blind? Those sunglasses aren’t because you’re supposed to be cool bad guys?’ white-haired guy asked, looking towards the video.

‘Don’t be fooled!’ red-haired guy called. ‘It’s probably prepared deflective evidence! Like Team Amethyst would go out on missions DRESSED as Team Amethyst members, right!? Being in disguise makes a lot more sense!’

‘… Yeah! You’re right! They probably paid people to dress like Amethyst members and then filmed them! And we DID catch them hunting dragons! Makes sense!’ white-haired guy nodded.

‘Y-you’re just grasping at any straws to accuse us, aren’t you!?’ Vivia complained at them.

‘Quiet! Come quietly! Gastly, Hypnosis!’ red-haired guy called, pointing forward. With that, Hypnosis and Thunder Wave headed for Vivia…

‘Iip!’ Vivia yelped back, closing her eyes a bit as the waves headed in… and Goomy frowned (as best a Goomy can frown), and called out. ‘Goomy!’ With that call, Protect blinked into existence, a white barrier erected which deflected the waves. Vivia blinked a bit in realization as she’d been protected.

‘Darn, they’re defending themselves!’ red-haired guy told, about the mere act of raising a barrier.

‘As if Amethyst would come without a fight! Let’s go!’ white-haired guy called… yeah, no, no way to escape this!

‘G-geesh!’ Vivia sounded annoyed, now. Taking out a Pokéball to join the battle. ‘Venonat, go!’

So. JoJo and Venonat VS Gastly and Mareep. Realizing the threat of a Psychic-type against his poison ghost without a ghost-type-move, Gastly was commanded to Hypnosis at JoJo immediately. Because of the time for the waves to get to him, JoJo successfully duplicated himself with Double Team, successfully dodging the waves, while Venonat managed to dodge out of the way of the Thunder Wave heading for her! Venonat countered with Disable at Gastly, successfully Disabling Hypnosis! Since putting the enemy to sleep was Gastly’s whole plan, the enemy panicked a bit…

Gastly shot a cloud of Smog at JoJo, while JoJo replied with a Confusion! Despite Double Team, the smog managed to collect around the correct Ralts, causing Super-Effective poison-damage against the fairy-side of JoJo, while JoJo shot a Confusion that made the entity of Gastly recoil and take heavy damage. Basically, both Pokémon did considerable damage at one another. Meanwhile, on the other side, Mareep Thunder Shocked Venonat… but got itself Supersoniced in return!

Then, luck took a heavy turn, because not only did Gastly hit with the next Smog, the next Smog became a Super Effective Critical Hit at JoJo! That became too much, unfortunately. JoJo fainted. On the plus-side, that last Smog made Vivia realize the threat of the opposing Gastly, and commanded Venonat to use Confusion on it, and so the bug used its Psychic capabilities and struck another Super Effective blow against the ghost, and given how fragile Gastly is two Super Effective blows was too much for it and Gastly fainted! Meanwhile, in its confusion, Mareep managed to charge into a tree and hurt itself in confusion!

Skylar now sent out Paradise, while the red-haired Virtue grunt sent out Spheal. There was a blink of ‘hold on’ when that happened.

So, while he’d use Rollout against most Pokémon, he did know his type match-ups, and commanded Spheal to use Powder Snow against Paradise. This did not happen before Paradise sent Razor Leafs into both Spheal and Mareep, dealing Super Effective damage to one of them! This is when Mareep shakes off Confusion and attempts to Thunder Shock at Paradise, but mid-move the faster Venonat calls Disable at Mareep and prohibits the electric sheep from casting bolts! Spheal called a Powder Snow on Paradise, however, which hit her and caused some terrible x4 Super Effective damage! Paradise is a sturdy girl, though, and took the damage in hand, and just replied with another Razor Leaf, which with another Super Effective hit took down Spheal and did more damage to Mareep! That, combined with Venonat doing another Confusion on Mareep, took the sheep down!

Then Grimer came out. On his own. … Paradise Stomped and Venonat Confusioned, and that’s the end of that.

Skylar and Vivia were victorious! Skylar gained 797P for winning!


‘G-gah!’ the red-haired one jerked back as the last of their Pokémon fainted and was returned to the Pokéball.

‘H-how did they-!?’ white-haired guy asked, confused.

‘Y-you haven’t heard the last of us!’ red-haired guy called, pointing at them.

‘Th-the higher ups will hear about this, and then it’ll be OVER for your little schemes, you hear…!?’ white-haired guy called… and then both of them dashed away in all haste.

‘Ooogh… I can’t believe them…’ Vivia just said, shaking her head at them where she still held the umbrella, and holding Goomy close to her. ‘Thanks for defending me, Goomy. And thanks for fighting them off with me, Skylar. And thanks, Venonat, Paradise, JoJo,’ she told, first to Goomy, and then to Skylar, and then to the partaking Pokémon. ‘Goomy!’ Goomy called out, happily enough, and Venonat returned to her trainer, happy enough too. With that done…

What would Skylar do now?

I see,’ Jacques said, having gone down on his knees next to Amelia on account that she’d fallen to the ground. ‘Sylvia, the girl with the Seviper, claimed it looked like Angelique had Cofagrifus attack you, which your teacher then defended you from. If so, that’s a grave offense on her part. Other than that… we didn’t even know Darkrai was sealed there. Makes us wonder why Angelique knew, or better yet, why Team Virtue of all people apparently knew. What else do they know that we don’t? Hmmm…’ Jacques questioned, crossing his arms, looking troubled.

Amelia decided to open the Pokéball given to her by Angelique put Jacques in an alert state, and then Amelia clutched her head in pain as she heard the message. When she returned… a Pokémon stood between herself and Spiritomb, one which actually was the very same as one Joshua had.



Pokédex Entry #461 - Weavile, the Sharp Claw Pokémon. They live in icy cold regions in groups of four or five, using symbols they carve into into frozen trees and ice to coordinate and take down their prey. Meals are carefully divided between the members of the group.


Jacques was where he was, though he had a serious expression and held forward an open Pokéball. When Spiritomb didn’t do more…

‘… Weavile, return,’ he called the Pokémon back and adjusted his hat. ‘Just in case,’ he told, simply.

With that, then, Amelia got to her feet, Jacques offering his hand to help her up if so needed, otherwise he simply stood up along with her, looking at her observantly as it was clear she’d obtained new-found determination. He listened to the words she said, and part-way through that he pulled on his hat over his eyes for a bit.

‘No adult should force a trial upon a child if the child doesn’t want it or doesn’t know they’re taking it, especially if it leads them into a clash between Legendary Pokémon. If ever you don’t desire to play along with her schemes, I ask that you call an adult,’ Jacques said. Now, for gameplay reasons, I don’t want you to have an Elite Four’s phone number in your pocket, otherwise he’d totally have offered his.

Then he raised his hat again as Amelia asked about the person in charge of the PC system, which simply caused Jacques to chuckle a bit, then looked at her with a sly little smile.

‘Why, for your particular group of trainers, that would be Professor Kalmia herself. She wanted to be able to examine the Pokémon in their state within the boxes, in order to further her own Pokémon research. She’s a young Pokémon Professor still, yet to find her own personal field to specialize in, but she does have a bit of a flair for the technological side. You do have to understand, though, the limit of six Pokémon per person is in place to limit the firepower each individual trainer can muster on their own, and also because it was the decided number for competitive Pokémon battles. Without this limit, hostile trainers could have raised armies on their own, stubborn trainers might try the quantity over quality approach to battle, and we couldn’t have that. Still… perhaps Kalmia could work something out?’

And that’s about that. She’s currently in the Bug Garden of Raremine Town.

Route 6. The Vast Plains open up to the north of Raremine. The shorter paths lead to Route 8 and 16, while west far enough leads to Lakewatch Town.
Route 7. The single rocky desert of Isson, it connects to the Desert Mines, the Old Tombs and to the Mythic Oasis.

So, it turned out Throh was on dramatically lower level than Erza’s Pokémon.

Shadowfang got hit with one Power-Up Punch first, but ran by Meditite then to go strike at the Biding Throh. Between Princess’ Gusts and Shadowfang’s Tackle, Throh took too much damaged and fainted under their unified assault. … Unfortunately, then came Meditite and slammed into Shadowfang from behind again with a Power-Up Punch, sending Shadowfang flying, fainted. Then it was Meditite VS Princess, where Meditite had +2 attack due to Power-Up Punch. However, in this battle of distance-fighter VS close-combat fighter, Meditite floating after Princess couldn’t land a good hit on her while Princess just did Gust, after Gust, after Gust.

Finally, Meditite fainted, and Princess was around 63% health left.

Shadowfang grew to level 15!
Princess grew to level 15!
Erza was victorious! Erza gained 2P for winning!


‘Oooooooooooooooouch…’ Charline sounded out, grinning a bit.

‘What was that about “eating him”?’ Dale asked with a smirk.

‘I may have held back too much~’ Charline sounded out, mildly playfully. ‘Whelp, back to punching punching-bags with me~!’

‘Heh, my turn,’ Dale told.

And then, during the battle…

Both Erza’s Pokémon actually held the speed-advantage against his opponents. Meaning, Croagunk just suddenly blinked as Flora unleashed a cloud of paralyzing powder over him… unfortunately Croagunk’s Mud Slap meant Summer missed Confuse Ray, the glowing ball of confusion-inflicting flying past the frog!

Confuse Ray flew on through the crowd and hit a random Hitmonlee… who blinked in surprise as he was delivering a flurry of kicks into a punching-bag. Confused, Hitmonlee stumbled a couple of steps aside, and then continued with the flurry! … Not realizing he was aiming it straight into the wall of the already breaking building! Hitmonlee’s feet had already created numerous holes and cracks in the wall when he was jumped by numerous shouting humans and Pokémon trying to stop him from damaging the building any further…

Regardless, missing Confuse Ray meant Croagunk wasn’t confused when he- when he couldn’t move due to paralyzation! Though, then Summer took a heavy hit from Power-Up Punch from Makuhita, which also raised Makuhita’s attack. That one hurt. So, next they shot Stun Spore and Confuse Ray at Makuhita! This time, both of them hit, Makuhita ending up Paralyzed and Confused both…

Makuhita grinned. Guts boosted his attack further due to paralyzation! … He just needs to hit!

Croagunk managed to move despite paralyzation and shot a Mud-Slap at Flora, that hit and did regular Mud-Slap damage and reduced accuracy a little!

Then Makuhita aimed! He wanted to slam Summer with his Guts- and Power-Up Fist- infused fist of super-power! He directed backwards, aaaaaaaand-!

-Fell over in confusion and slammed this awesome power straight into the floor! The massively powerful blow split the floor-plate apart, sending cracks in all directions and leaving a huge Makuhita-fist shaped indent! Critical Hit! … Against the floor!

‘Why do trainers keep using confusion as a weapon against us!? It keeps making our Pokémon damage our own building! Hahahaha!’ Hector laughed about it.

So, Makuhita did HEAVY damage against himself in confusion, due to how powered-up he was. Still, the battle wasn’t over yet. Both Summer and Flora had been Mud-Slapped, Croagunk’s only damage was being paralyzed, and Makuhita was still heavily powered up, despite Confusion, Paralyzation, and heavy damage.

What would Erza command next?

Pichu came out, and darted using his best stat towards Zygarde. Zygarde, with ferocious speed, lifted his front legs and stomped into the ground. Pichu jumped, we’ll say, and managed to escape above the sand-shattering attack to land upon the dog’s skin and gave it a nice little Sweet Kiss. Confusion curled through the dog, as did paralysis because of Static, paralysing on contact, and some Leech Seed energy passed to Pichu. Zygarde basically immediately knocked off Pichu and slammed down with an awesome Bulldoze, but Dawkin had already called back Pichu to exchange for sending out Wooper, who took the Bulldoze instead, but then got back some Leech Seed health.

Zygarde’s next motion was to stumble and knock his head into the sands, taking damage in his confusion. Wooper shot a Water Gun at him, and Leech Seed drained him extra. Zygarde now looked exhausted and damaged, not much left.

But Zygarde locked his eyes onto Wooper, growled a bit, and then charged for a Dragon Breath! … Except, he forgot to open his mouth in confusion. Zygarde blinked a bit in surprise, and then… the dog promptly exploded into numerous pieces in an explosion of purple dragon fire that came from within!

‘Aaaah! Zei!’ Florrie called out in panic.

Now, a Pokémon exploding would normally be pretty horrific to witness… but, there wasn’t any of the usual byproducts, like, internal organs, or whatever else an actual exploding living being would have produced. Instead, what flew about was…





Small, clearly alive little green things that landed a bit here and there where they felt like. Only one of them seemed really alive, having flown straight upwards from the place where Zygarde had stood, and then landed straight down, only to slowly rise up and look up at Dawkin.

‘… Zy?’ it asked Dawkin.

Then it was promptly snapped up into Florrie’s embrace, before she went after the next little cell that was crawling off in random directions!

‘H-help me gather them up!’ a rather alarmed Florrie requested.

Well. Regardless. He’d managed to beat Zygarde, here, anyway.

Cacnea grew to level 15!
Pichu grew to level 12!
Wooper grew to level 14!
Dawkin was victorious! Dawkin gained 522P for winning!


Eventually, no matter if Dawkin helped or not, the Zygarde cells were eventually gathered up and Florrie brought out a green object resembling a truncated octahedron, which she put the cells inside. She breathed out a bit in relief when they’d finally been gathered.

‘… So, uh. Who are you? Why does your machine thing know of Zygarde…?’ Florrie asked, eyeing Dawkin suspiciously.

Dawkin's Cacnea came out and took Dig pretty well, decreasing the damage of the blow from underneath considerably. In return, Cacnea managed to throw her Leech Seeds onto Zygarde, the dog twitching as its health was being absorbed.

‘Oooh! Grass-type… that means… Dragon Breath!’ Florrie commanded, and the dog spun around and breathed a massive blaze of purple fire at Cacnea. It hurt badly, despite being Dragon-type and not fire. Cacnea used Absorb on Zygarde, but the dog’s part-dragon typing meant it was somewhat protected against that, and Zygarde committed to another blazing Dragon Breath, and Cacnea hadn’t recovered enough damage to survive another one of those. Cacnea fainted.

‘K-kih… Leech Seed… I need to do this, quick…’ Florrie said, turning to face Dawkin’s next opponent.

Due to Leech Seed, Florrie will favor the weaker Bulldoze over Dig, as it’s a single-turn move, and use it against Atlas, Tyrunt or Pichu if any of them is her opponent. If against Wooper, though, Florrie will have Zygarde use Dragon Breath, which will still take a hefty amount of health due to the power of the move. Florrie most certainly sent out a powerful Pokémon for Dawkin to face, but Leech Seed was slowly sapping away the dog’s health, making Florrie go all out…

Vivia looked at Skylar, eyes wide and hands somewhat shaking as she let Skylar inspect Goomy, who in turn was looking at Skylar in mild confusion. And then…

‘Iip-!?’ Vivia made a frightened little noise when Skylar’s tone changed. Aaaaaaand then she shouted to her to show her where she found Goomy. ‘Aah-!?’ she stumbled back a bit, pulling back Goomy until she’d properly processed what Skylar had actually said, Goomy shaking a bit from the sudden movement. Then, she blinked, and actually understood what she’d been asked.

‘Ah. Yes! Sure!’ Vivia called out, apparently alright with this, getting a smile and regaining some colour to her expression and some determination. ‘J-just, like, bring an umbrella, maybe!’

Umbrellas could be bought at the exit towards Route 3, for 50P a piece.

Farfetch’d looked over the berries presented. Now, Tanga Berries are specifically for bugs to like, apparently, Spelon Berries are so spicy that even Pokémon that aren’t fire-types will breathe fire after ingestion, and Chesto Berries are famously exceedingly tough to chew… so Farfetch’d snaps up that exceedingly juicy though sour Aspear Berry that Erika still has.

‘Farfetch'd,’ the bird will state, as he was offered to get more in exchange for some help training. Sure, then!

Training-time!

Sno had an easy time training well. Look at all these birds! Just throw Powder Snow, and with Farfetch’d helping it was a cakewalk! Though, the lack of resistance meant she took some damage back, too. Down to around 40%.

Sno grew to level 15! Sno learned Icy Wind!


Now, Eep didn’t have any Rock-type moves to take advantage of the type-advantage, but enough birds tried to tackle him to allow him to train pretty efficiently with Constrict, plus Ingrain meant he could always just heal up whenever and never had to return to the Pokémon Center, so.

Eep grew to level 14! Eep learned Confuse Ray!


Tara was not a stranger to training on Mountain Valley. In fact, she knew where to do so. See, all those Skiddos? Pecking them is exceedingly efficient for a bird! Tara was somewhat tired already, but some form of training could be gained anyway, especially with Farfetch’d’s help.

Tara grew to level 14! Tara learned Mist!


Chic also benefited from Skiddos. Some roasted grass-goat did the chicken good. Chic took some damage from their retaliation, but only to about 65% health, and was now strong enough to line up with Sno again.

Chic grew to level 15! Chic learned Peck!


Then Chu. … Chu was the star of Mountain Valley, throwing down Thunder Shocks like it was nobody’s business. The training went EXCEPTIONALLY well for Chu, what with all these birds to fry, and a resistance towards flying types to boot. Chu went up and came in line with the rest of Erika’s strongest, only damaged to like 75%.

Chu grew to level 15! Chu learned Electro Ball!


Finally, Kay. Kay had a bunch of bouncing Spoinks over there that she could target. The Spoinks didn’t have any attacks that could hurt Kay, all their Psychic-moves unable to hit, and as such Kay did pretty well.

Kay grew to level 15! Kay learned Psywave! Kay learned Topsy-Turvy!


Farfetch’d lands near Erika, breathing out in relief. Honestly, that was quite a work-out for him, too, he took notable damage from helping out, but he looked pretty proud of what he’d achieved.

There, some training done! Now, what?

‘Hmpf. All on the one you know nothing about. Very well,’ Valerie simply commented, and then placed her own bet. ‘I don’t think Empress is out yet. Let me match your bet, 500 coins on Empress,’ Valerie said, gently rocking Togepi against her bosom. It seemed like it was a bit sleep-inducing, Togepi yawning and relaxing in the motherly grip.

The race was on! … And basically the absolutely first thing that happened out of the gates was that Biscuit pecked one of Dread Diver’s legs, making him stumble over and roll of the ground!

‘Poor soul. Biscuit wanted to interfere with Empress, but Empress was on the other side of the starting-line. He couldn’t possibly catch up with her. Hence, he went for the next-best thing; the newcomer,’ Valerie told, with a bit of false empathy in her voice.

However, the next thing that happened… Dread Diver turned around, all three heads in unison, and looked at Biscuit. Biscuit looked a little surprised, not used to that… when Dread Diver dived him. That… was Trash, the move where Dread Diver basically went ballistic and flailed every possible leg and head at Biscuit in one dreadful combo, blasting Biscuit down into ground and hitting over and over and over again. Biscuit fainted!

‘… Oh, my,’ Valerie stated in slight fake fright at the thing that just happened. ‘Perhaps the Dread Divers live up to their name… yet,’ Valerie said, turning to those actually dashing. There were only two. Lucky was taking it easy again, charging up for the next race, and Grassball didn’t even leave the gate. Grassball’s rider was talking to her from in front while patting her heads, looking like they were having a pretty emotional conversation for some reason. That left only Empress and Zodiac racing for the finish, Empress slightly ahead of Zodiac.

‘It seems that Empress will maintain her win strea-’ Valerie started saying in a content voice… when Ralia appeared on her head. Valerie blinked, and on pure instinct, she jerked to, gripped Togepi in a single arm and swiped with her other over to knock Ralia off, like if a large fly had landed on her. It didn’t matter if Ralia was hit or not. What mattered was that Togepi saw it.

‘Togepi…!’ Togepi called out in slight fright and in objection, blinking up in surprise at Valerie. Valerie blinked down at Togepi, starting to register what just happened, and then looked towards the races, mouth hanging just the slightest open.

Done Trashing Biscuit, Dread Divers’ heads turned around, glaring at those he could never catch up to… when all three heads yelled out in unison, and a Tri Attack flew in a spiral straight across the racing-field. It soared right in, and Zodiac was reigned in a little… leaving Empress in the way. The blast hit Empress’ legs away from down under her, meaning she fell and rolled and ended up on her side, kicking to quickly get up to her legs again. Zodiac ran past…

Zodiac won.

Neither Claire nor Valerie won this particular race.

For the sake of the bet, Valerie has 1160 coins total, and Claire has 940. Valerie is still in the lead.

‘Hmpf, I think I’m done betting for today,’ Valerie turned and glared a bit at Ralia, lifting a Pokéball and calling the mildly upset Togepi back into the ball. ‘But I’ll do one last bet, for the sake of finishing your challenge,’ she said, looking over at Claire.

… When Empress and Zodiac came back to the starting line… they both appeared shocked at the knocked-out Biscuit that lay on the sidelines, his rider forced to call him back and retreat from the races for now. A glaring stare-down took place, between Empress, Zodiac, and Dread Divers. It was clear the former two did not agree with what he had done to Biscuit, or of the Tri Attack he’d sent at them. They didn’t agree with Biscuit, either, but Dread Divers was far worse. Even back in the boxes they started with, the three did nothing but glare at one another. The only two that looked focused on the race was Grassball and Lucky…

Odds are… Grassball (x100) < Lucky (x5) < Dread Divers (x3) < Zodiac (x2) < Empress (x1.4)

Order for the next race is, from left to right… Lucky, Dread Divers, Zodiac, Empress, Grassball. The three powerful racers in the middle, the less so ones on the sides.

‘… 100 coins on Lucky,’ Valerie told simply, not waiting for Claire to bet first this time. She crossed her arms watching the race, Fletchinder flying over to land on Valerie’s shoulder as there no longer was a need to warm Togepi’s bath.

What would Claire do, for the final bet?

And I realize she and Ralia might want to react to Valerie attempting to strike the Ralts for landing on her, in which case feel free to react to that and I’ll have Valerie react in turn in the next post.

‘Aww, she’s cute! So elegant!’ Jamie said with a smile, having no idea she was just feeding Kylie’s ego, or something alike to that. Onto battle!

Buneary used Baby-Doll Eyes! … It had no effect whatsoever! If that was because of Hyper Cutter, or because Kylie knows all about such tricks and sees straight through them, is up for discussion! Regardless, Buneary then went forth to Pound at her! … The ears she tried to pound into the steel fairy hurt Buneary more than Kylie! Suffice to say, Kylie had no problem whitling down Buneary’s health with Fairy Wind and then Bite with little to no damage in return.

Dei VS Hoppip. … Ember blasted the flying bit down before it ever reached him with a Tackle!

Finally, Jamie’s most competent Pokémon, Eevee, the one she wanted the rocks for! Kylie met the creature, and when the Sand Attacks came Kylie unleashed her Sweet Scent, distracting the target and making Eevee make subconscious sounds from liking the smell, allowing Kylie to locate the opponent! Finally, it came down to a Bite VS Tackle contest, and while Eevee’s Tackles hurt more due to Adaptability, he was still tackling a steel fairy and Kylie won out eventually!

Kyllene grew to level 15!


Eryn was victorious! She gained 552P for winning!


‘Ow! Not only elegant, she’s strong, too!’ Jamie said with a smile towards Kyllene. ‘Where can I find one of those?’ she asked, looking to Eryn. Then, Eryn asked about Ice and Moss Rocks. ‘Oh, so, they’re special big rocks for Eevees to evolve into their Ice or Grass-type evolutions… Now, I’m pretty sure the Ice Rock is up there somewhere…’ Jamie motioned towards Mt. Chill and/or Frozen Cave. ‘Though, it kind of scares me to go looking for it in such a cold environment. The Moss Rock, though, is supposed to be in a forest around here…’ Jamie sighed and shrugged. ‘… But which one? Stillwood? Silent? Infested? If it’s in Endless Forest, then forget it, we’re never finding it. Hahaha. The next step might be to ask some villagers and see if they know…’ So she said, and sighed.

Moving on.

‘Hmpf! Sure! No way you’ll win! Let’s warm you up, first!’ Adrian said, throwing out Koffing first. … So, Poison Gas did NOTHING against Kylie, her steel-type protecting her fairy-side from the poison, and suddenly Koffing didn’t look so happy anymore. All it had was Tackle. Kylie took it down swiftly enough, basically without damage. Kylie was then faster than Roggenrola, Fairy Winding the rock-creature with poor Special Defense, Roggenrola had time for one more Sand-Attack before Kylie Fairy Winded it to fainting.

‘… Hah! Strong little thing. Well, how about THIS!?’ Adrian told, sending out Gible to face her. Being faster, Kylie sent a Fairy Wind, overpowering the sand attack and doing heavy Super-Effective damage to Gible. Gible responded… by unleashing a- and here’s where the GM remembers that Fairies are completely immune to Dragon-type attacks, not just resists them. Well. Adrian clearly somehow forgot this, alike the GM, despite being a self-proclaimed know-it-all. He blinks a bit in surprise as Gible faints to another Fairy Wind.

Kyllene grew to level 16!


Eryn was victorious! She gained 5P for winning!


‘Gah!?’ Adrian recoiled. ‘Wait, what? No! I KNOW that! If I got that question on a test, I’d ace it every time! So why did I…?’ he blinks a bit in confusion. Then, Eryn asks where he got the dragon from. He pauses for a moment, then grins at her.

‘… Hahaha… You can’t, normally, get a dragon anymore…’ he tells her. ‘The Gym Leader of Lakewatch, Lesley, and her Lakewatchers, as well as Team Virtue on the western side, they’re all watching. Making sure people don’t poach dragons like they used to. It was a very lucrative business. BUT! But, but… There’s a darker side of Lakewatch Town. Ask your way around there, you’ll find a crowd that can catch whatever you want, with any means necessary… as long as you have the money. I bet that’s what SHE did, that pink-haired girl in a blue cap whose dragon burned down my whole team… Hah, nobody’s honest anymore…!’

… So Adrian said, before he turned tail and ran. Next opponent.

‘Heh? Zorua and no illusion? Well. Bronzor, TACKLE!’ Mason shouted out, and Bronzor flew in to tackle. This match-up was a bit tricky, as Steel secondary type meant the match-up was neutral. Bronzor’s exceptional defense was higher than Eri’s attack, and despite Bronzor’s low attack-power Eri’s defense wasn’t very good, either. However, Eri had a more effective attack in Pursuit, and eventually took down Bronzor, but not before racking up considerable damage himself.

Against Gothita, Eryn pretended to change Pokémon into Diglett… And then Diglett and Gothita both did Fake Tears on one another, both Pokémon crying wolf tears in one another’s faces. Both Pokémon’s Special Defense were sharply lowered. Gothita’s Competitive activated, sharply raising her Special Attack… Mason grinned. ‘Diglett knows Fake Tears? Eh, no matter. You realize how much you just boosted my next attack’s power, right?’ With Diglett’s Sp. D sharply lowered and Gothita’s Sp. A sharply raised… ‘Gothita, Confusion!’

And Gothita cast Confusion! It didn’t affect Diglett. ‘… Huh? How didn’t-’ Mason’s eyes widened. ‘YOU TRICK-!’

Aaaaaaaaaaand then Eri went in and Pursuited Gothita to defeat, Gothita’s panicked Pound doing a little damage back and breaking Eri’s illusion but it was far too late. Gothita fainted after the second Pursuit.

Erebi grew to level 14!


Finally, Woobat VS Onix… Mason frowned. ‘This isn’t an illusion again, is it!? I frankly don’t care if I’m tricked again, I just refuse to use Confusion again until I’ve- GUST!’ … And with that, Woobat broke Eri’s illusion first thing with a Gust, Mason standing up triumphantly and pointing in glory. ‘HA! GOT EM!’

So, Woobat still took a Leer and a single Pursuit, heavily damaging the bat, but Woobat still prevailed over Eri on account of the damage he’d taken against Bronzor. ‘YEEEES! I KNOW WE CAN’T BEAT WHAT COMES OUT NEXT, BUT WE GOT THE ILLUSIONIST! WELL DONE, WOOBAT!’ Mason called, dancing. ‘NOW, WHATEVER MONSTER SHE SENDS OUT NEXT, WE’LL FACE OUR DEFEAT WITH DIGNI-’

Eryn called out Tula.

‘… … … … …’

Tula Struggled into Woobat’s face, taking the last of the bat’s health! Woobat fainted!

Tula grew to level 13!

‘Uuuuuuuugh… D-did it HAVE to be a Magikarp…?’ Mason asked, cradling his Woobat. Then Eryn asked about the Frozen Cave. ‘… Eh. It’s long and winding, treacherous. It’s safe for the most part, but you might slip and slide way further in than you ever intended to go, and there are Glalies in there on way higher level than the surrounding Pokémon who freeze people solid. Don’t enter without an Escape Rope. But, on the outer part are the mines, where miners make a living mining artifacts, fossils and Pokémon out of the wall. I found this thing? It’s what my fortune led me to, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with it…’ Mason said, holding forth a strange bell, right over his Woobat. ‘Want it?’

‘Oh? Sounds interesting. I might take you up on that!’ Wilhelm said with an ignited smile, and then the battle was on. Sandile Sand-Attacked Kylie, but she was quick to Sweet Scent that. She then resisted the Dark-type Bite, while she was Super-Effective against his Dark, and so Kylie was a swift victor. Then, Magnemite came out. Kylie was the faster opponent, so she Taunted, ensuring Magnemite couldn’t Supersonic her. Instead, she found herself Thunder Shocked! It hit somewhere sensitive, so Critical Hit!

Suddenly heavily damaged from that Critical Hit Thunder Shock, Eryn attempts to return Kylie… but can’t! Magnemite’s Magnet Pull means Kylie cannot escape battle! Magnemite charges for the next Thunder Shock!

What will Eryn and Kylie do, now?

Florrie helped as she could with crawling up as Dawkin helped her up, breathing in mild panic as she finally got up. Then, yes. Because trainers have to battle.

‘W-wait, that one’s part rock, right…!?’ Florrie blinked into realization, and quickly pointed forward. ‘Azurill, Water Gun…!’

It was indeed, as the little blue creature sent out a spray of water at Atlas, who took the Super-Effective hit… but with Azurill lacking a water-type, for some reason, it didn’t do as potent damage as it could have, and nothing in comparison to when Atlas reached Azurill and dealt a heavy hand of Super-Effective Metal Claw, the lack of water-type failing to protect the blue thing from the damage. Atlas easily overcame the opposition. Thooouuugh, Azurill was too low-leveled to obtain another level for Atlas.

‘Oooooh-!’ Florrie made a disturbed noise. ‘S-Sandile!’

From overleveled to underleveled in comparison to Florrie’s team, Tyrunt VS Sandile turned out to be a bit more interesting. Tyrunt has an awesome Attack stat and a decent Defence stat, while Sandile had subpar defenses albeit strong attack. That said, Bite was a far more effective attack than mere tackling, and as such Tyrunt’s health depleted more rapidly than Sandile’s. No worries, however, this gained Tyrunt a bunch of experience and a quick change to Wooper meant Sandile didn’t stand a chance against the next Water Gun.

Tyrunt grew to level 8!


‘A-ah! Sandile…’ Florrie looked a bit shaken, taking back Sandile to his Pokéball. Florrie paused there, standing motionless, like if she had nothing else to come with…

Except, there was no notice in the Pokédex about him winning and getting money for it.

Florrie hesitantly takes out another Pokéball, her eyes somewhat wide, as if startled by your strength when it really is just that she herself is pretty weak. She freezes for a second, looking like she doesn’t really know if she wants to send this one out, but then she bites it together, and-!

‘H-help me, Zei…!’

The Pokéball hits the sand, and opens, and a dog of some form jumps out to stand in between Florrie and him. A curious dog with a green scarf, of a kind that Dawkin has certainly never seen before…



Pokédex Entry #718 – Zygarde, the Order Pokémon. Born from many separate cells, this form is born when around 10% of Zygarde's cells have been gathered. This form is skilled in close-range combat, its sharp fangs make short work of enemies, but it’s unable to maintain this body indefinitely. After a period of time, it falls apart.


And, assuming he did the scanning with the Pokédex that then spoke out loud…

‘E-EH!? H-HOW DOES THAT MACHINE KNOW THAT!?’ Florrie asks, exceedingly alarmed for a moment. ‘E-er, wait, you can tell me after I’ve beat you…! Zei, DIG!’ Florrie commands, and the dog suddenly jumps, starting a flurry of clawings straight down into the sand, which Zygarde promptly disappeared into. There was a movement in the sand where the dog was crawling through, heading at a high speed to under whatever opponent he was currently facing, intending on bursting out to damage the opponent and then quickly diving back in, or pursuing with a Bite if the opponent was damaged enough!

So. In battle, Zygarde has Bite, Dragon Breath or Dig, depending on what is most effective. Dig is the go-to move, where Zygarde will dive into the sand in order to seek out where to erupt from underneath and strike harshly against an opponent! How would Dawkin answer this?
