Persephone and Sya.

The single eye of Sya Leela was glaring at Ayel and she looked over to see the Lady who had made her allie in the event by sheer body language be equally Seething with a dark mood against the man. The noble man was was enraging and had managed to annoy everyone from Ivor to noblewomen and more it seemed.

“The Moon goddess …” Persephone annoyance had been fueled further by the insult to her religion and his general attitude. He was aiming to insult everyone and everything and he thought himself beyond all consequences and such matters. His best friend the Prince…. Maybe the Prince should choose better friends.

“Obviously you are not going to act like your own noble station… If that is so, I am Lady Persephone, Mistress Sya would like me to raise a protest on behalf? I can send a letter of protest about his insults to your character." She turned to Sya, a Blightborn and it seemed they were in this together after all, a very unlikely alliance of the two against Lord Ayel. These people she had devoted much of time to combating but in this case she was smart enough to see when you had to find allies when they came and not ignore an opportunity.

Sya had the great urge to swing her tail with for full force into Ayels ribs and send him flying, feeling the muscle she could probably shatter his ribs and cause him to need a healer, that urge was rising until she heard the older Lady choose to fight him at his own game. Oh that was Devious, attack his ties to his so called best friend and make him a problem for the Prince…

“I came from a proud community, a proud Auralian Borderland Clan.” Sya said with a harsh tone and if looks could kill, he would probably be killed in 3 afterlifes. “vou is the monster zere. Vou have no honour worth challenge and I pitty viur wife… she buy many toys… or ave bad sex” Sya said with a heavy turn of her accents and a shake of her head.

“I vould agree with vour kind offer.” Sya said to Persephone as she nodded respectfully and tugged at her arm. “Zis ao called man iz not worth vy energy.”

The gentle pull on her arm, Persephone calculated that anger would give him more than treating like a bug. They would attack his ego and status, sense of self as she without dismissal pulled Sya away with a gentle hand on her arm. The woman moved silently , almost scary how Sya moved without a single noise or scrape on the stone. Her control must be excellent.

Sya seemed to understand and followed as they found a spot the two women could pause as Sya dangled bright blue scales into the water. Persephone knew what she had to do, sadly cutting her own soak short sighing as she rested her own feet into the hot waters. Persephone may not feel comfortable about blight born but Lord Ayel was… a joint enemy and one she had a personal dislike of. “Il go, my horse is outside, I can quickly get pen and paper.”

“van I vil make sure you and your husband have vood vine tonight. Red, white…” Sya said as a way of a meeting in the middle. The two were very different sides but they could find a workable middle ground.

“Red, deal.” She did a rather difficult thing that went against her normal thoughts but offered her hand and was accepted. They made an agreement, Sya knew how to play the game. If only she had recruited a woman like that before she got turned by the dread blight.

Persephone got up with a sigh, her feet loved the heat but she rose and made way to the changing area leaving the cheerful innkeeper to bathe in the heat. “Il hold you to that.” She said you Sya as she rose and made a heading to get dressed and quickly act before Ayel could set the tone.

dressed at a rapid pace she moved towards her horse, where she might have pen and paper… She had no spare then the pout office and a guard.

Persephone had a plan to go run with.

“I'm a pirate, Loot it seek, diggy diggy hole ” Ren sang rather badly was that a song, 3 songs, no song? No one knew, Ren had no voice for music and she had no idea how to carry a tune be it instrument or otherwise.

Throwing some snacks into her bag and a couple of bottles of over priced water all charged to the apocalypse Banking system. “Hot, lack of sleep for months. Hungry. Try me. See you in abit, just call if you want anything.” She said as she pulled her bags and made way out the drink taking a different path to the loading side and where deck plates turned reinforced to look to harder and large industrial gate ways. The soldiers headed to the gate locked down along with the crew, she and the others made way to find what they could, what was left? Who knew, maybe it would be useful, food or just clothes, random items and morale boosters.

“Area 4. Cargo storage. Restricted personal.” Ren saw the door and pushed it open with a solid shove and carried on regardless toward the sign marked…”Charging” knowing that was where you probably kept the loaders and stuff tossing remains of a chocolate wrapper into an bin.

“il find a loader. Il find a box…” Ren said later found dragging a box over to the front of the power loader so she short Kieller could get feet onto the rungs and climb into the control seat and just about reach the controls but she managed and gleefully firing up the motors with sound of servos on a battered orange machine, the grip claws spinning into place and testing motion as she ran through pre check with a well practiced routine.

An heavy foot fall of steel on steel Ren moved the large machine with an easy gait and made the machine balance on one foot with a display of control and smiled, she had not lost it.

“lead the way, wave me if you find anything good, or grab a loader yourself.” She was not sure if anyone else was trained to use one. Ren was in a better mood, least able to be doing something and doing something to survive.

The area coming up was larger than she thought, signage for storage, bays, warehousing, freight docks and more all with lines painted and markings for safe foot and machine traffic. “Oh. This might be.. larger than I thought.”

Ren said and wondered where to start.

Ran was reaching to pull her armour back on, much as hot she would like the protection incase things got ugly, desperate people were dangerous and she was just as desperate to live as they were. People were far more dangerous than Lab animals, they could be observed and predicted.

Plants were safer and more dangerous. They had no real intelligence and usually were rather predictable, do not poke them, stay away from the colourful fruit or keep the gas scrubbers running when someone tried to import toxic spore bulbs from one of the world's jungles. Ren had taken more minor injuries from people in the last year or so than 10 years in the lab from her Xeno charges and Bio samples.

“So take anything not nailed down, or make it move, can do. Powerloader is a wrench…” Ren nodded, she was sure the ship had some supplies but anything, everything they could take would be great and helpful. If it was of any value she was taking it, from a generator, clothes, food or materials. They did not know what or how long they would be out in the void. They needed to plan for everything. The idea of wrenching things out with a power loader did make her smile.

“Send us a list when you get aboard and see what we can do, otherwise we grab anything useful.” She looked toward the woman who questioned the supply situation and they would work from there.

A rather realistic yet depressed man came up to the bar and downed multiple shots of a strong drink without pause. Usual? He was local, a regular? That or he had been stuck here for a bit. Drunk, whatever his skills where they maybe were a little beyond use, or would at rate they drank booze.

Clasps applied and locked she strapped everything together, it was a little worn and so, with the least minor damage risks, the heavy military rifles would go through it clean and out the other side.

“Ageeed?” Ren looked and began to stand, if they were going to get going, they might as well start now much as a nap and getting shit faced was tempting. Well stand, she still was probably one of the shortest of her group, bar that little alien in a scooter hovering about.

Doing somthing was... therapy.

Escape? A chance of an escape that seemed impossible was now looking a lot more probable and Ren looked more focused and feeling less tired despite own body's demands for rest. They had a chance and she really did not want to die in this metal tomb. Pilot, engineering, FTL, shuttle? They had a decent mix of skills and a few former or remaining military members.

Just maybe things had become less impossible and more just really difficult.
“Hydro, yeah, give me parts and maybe loot the station a bit.. we can rig something up.” She said feeling more confident again and having a purpose, a goal to aim for a target to seek instead of an aimless drinking the apocalypse into the last light.

“I can run a power loader. If there is any left that is.” Ren added, she had some useful skills to add to the group as a whole. She could run a class 3, a class 5 would be her limit, heavy industrial stuff was too different to the kind they used in the lab.

“Working with is far easier than against the flow.” Ren said gladly, forcing the gate in a rogue power loader and breaching it by brute force was a problem.

The heat still got to the Kieller and this was far too hot unlike the woman in the jacket who was entirely too comfortable in this insane heat. Really, was it mechanical error or ran by the race?

The figure in the enclosed suit was an odd one and this figure was probably disliking the heat even more than the rest of the survivors. Ren did not know the exact details but had a reconnection of sealed environment suits, this one was a pattern of some kind not used in Northlands labs. Or not seen personally anyway.

A tall Kiseller Marine… Rifle slung and military firepower, a lot better than the small pistol she had stolen from the doomed company armoury among other items she had managed to pilfer to help survive another day.

“Better to try. Id rather try than hide in dark and wait.” Ren agreed with the idea of working to try something even if it failed, she tried to do something and that was cathartic.

The snake figure and a small primitive race, more obscure than the main 3 races who made bulk of the population and she peobbly could of recalled them in detail if more rested and more clear headed. This heat was just far too oppressive to help her minds function.

Ren looked up as she reached up to loosen the body armour she was wearing and though unwilling to fully take it off she loosened and gave her more room for air. It was far too hot? It was way too hot for normal operations. Ren had worked on multiple space stations and this was far far from the regular temperatures. Even the labs at Northland that where Xeno habits did not bleed heat into the rest of it like this place was?

She looked up, her gold eyes rimmed with a glint of platinum fanning herself showing a fairly normal company under shirt below the protection. Thankfully she chose to wear more than she had some days in case she needed to lose the armour. One small mercy in a day of hell. “Thanks Velia, needed this…” Ren took a slug of the whiskey before returning it and gave a nod, it was not good quality but it was alcohol and the hot burn in her throat was not unpleasant.

"Next ones on Northland then. Whatever it is.” returning a tired grin as Ren faced the woman. This woman had more hope than others and probably still was alive and on this station, the very last station orbiting a planet that was taken over by the enemy. Consumed more like.

“Theirs is a ship, just got to sell our skills. We have to scrape together a crew from whats left.” Ren said, surely a Bio Scientist was useful, she knew how to make a hydroponic bay, research unknown life and honestly? This woman's enthusiasm was a little infectious even to an exhausted Kiellar who just escaped on the last ship put once already.

Ren nodded to Ginny too, the whiskey hit and she felt the alcohol hit her stomach, the warm buzz of the alcohol that would come soon. “What's with this heat, Station 6 was never this hot…until it went nuclear.” She added the last part, it had gone nuclear and taken out a area probbly an metropolis.

Looking about the room, yes she was not that tired, a snake with a hand and a cat, a man walked in clad in flight armour and blood, maybe the last thing ever to Dock here and .. an elderly member of her kin hand made it, she looked old, maybe a 150 years or more. It was not always easy to tell unless they where very young or very old, her kinds age was not a regular and stable pace throughout life.

“That's on me, Northland can pay for the end of world drinks.” She found to her shock that the card worked and the chip pinged back, how the fuck did that still work? Maybe a localised backup that sent data every day or so? She nodded to the elder of her people, the tried eyed Keiller tried to be respectful but formality was long gone right now.

People said what now…well that was a question was it not, had she been less exhausted she might have a better answer but theit was not one.

“Maths is pretty clear, we have one option, ship, get safely out of orbit. After that, find a planet, anything to rest or resupply." She spoke with a scientist's fact, a little grating maybe to some but calmly as fact and not much else. There was no other way off and no other plan. Some way, somehow the bugs would find a way to get them.

She turned her head and a new comer entered the corner of her eye order a beer, She still gave a tired nod and fanned herself from the heat, it was far too hot to be normal?

Working the side catch she slid the armour off and revealed a simple blue women's sleeveless sports top with bruises, scuffs text on her arms and shoulders from it where it caught. It was far too hot. “Did someone not pay the AC bills?” She tried to joke, too warm indeed!

“Warning… facility decontamination In 10 minutes. Lab levels sealed. Evacuation orders to all staff…” reenneesuash ran as she strapped tight another bag, back back and a pistol strapped to her leg as she ran past the numbers, to sector 001. “Ren… damn you late out.” The man called as he joined her break neck pace to the outside and then onto the space port. The thermobaric bombs would take out everything inside and burn the building interior to ash and melted metal.

“Needed to raid the armoury, they unlocked everything.” Ren said as she ran, short as she was… every step took about two of someone else's as they escaped before they joined the rest of the building as a ruin.

“Still late, there's a ship on dock Theta left, docks Omega are all gone…” He had not always got on with the Kieller woman, she was prickly but did not deserve to be incinerated. She looked about the height of his daughter and despite knowing she was older still looked like an intern. The Kiellar were hard to predict or even guess, it made life on the station tense at times.

“Lock down protocol beginning in 5 minutes. Warning. Lock down on 5 minutes prior to thermobaric gas flood.” Came the computer's voice. They made it out with 2 minutes to spare and took a direct bee line for the ship. The man looked to see the woman in the open light and noted her eyes, unlike the norm she had her fatigue from the last few months evident, the pressure had suppressed what he had found out was their healing abilities. They were annoyingly fast to recover especially if you got a bad cold, they just came back a day or so later happy as can be when you laid in bed half dead.

“Welcome to Dock bay Theta 4. Please have your passport and documents ready.” The auto systems remained on but formal boarding passes had long been abandoned, most of the place had been shoved out the way or smashed to evacuate faster and the crew had long given up enforcing rules such as enter visa and who had what baggage allowances.

She was panting, they barely had stopped and reached the last docking bay showing green. Red lights ran down all 9 other bays and was not sure if any other docking zones had anything left? Northland had clung on to the last to save what they could from the labs and data and now it was probably already been obliterated, the exit too rushed to even tell if one whole area of station had been destroyed.

“Alert. Fire Alert…. Fire breach in zone…” came across the PA, it looked like the Northland blast had escaped it's housing or just whatever inside burned hotter than intended… that was a joke. Northland did not care at this point, they had facilities on dozens or more worlds by being assholes.

“Ren… reenneesuash” She choked out her name as she panted to the boarding ramp who demanded her name, maybe there still was some organised structure aboard as she joined the remaining who escaped the coming apocalypse that was at the heels of them all. It would only be so long before the horrors found a way in, they at Bio security had done their best to keep the space ports open but even then… only so many could make it and entire compromised flights had been obliterated. All in the vain effort to keep the life line out open that was being cut as she entered the vessel and felt the recycled air of the ship.

“Frak you too” She said as someone pushed into her and past not looking, the dim lights rising into the ferry ship away from the boarding gate.

“All passengers. Move along steadily. Do no stop. Shuttle flight to final station departing in 5 minutes.”

Behind her the station burned rapidly as it turned out the shelf destruct was far more potent, the whole station burned and the last ferry flight crew watched as it and its reactor failed falling into the pull of gravity to land on the planet below.

Station. Final station. The bar.

Life was normal here.. what the hell? Things were not screaming or falling apart, no self destruction? The woman was tired and spotted a whole mix of primitives, local and far off species that remained of all kinds. Combined Station Northland Raincoat 6 had it turned out on final departure being deliberately dropped on the remains of the Eastern continent, a blast probably killed tens of millions of the damn bugs and not even scratched their numbers.

“Whiskey…Coffee, beer or health shakes… whatevers left.” She said as she approached the bar, her bags still about and the Kieller looked like she had barely slept for a week, because she had. Even their physiology was not immune.

The unusually short Kiellar woman pushed her hair into a messy pony tail still wearing the reinforced lightweight armour they had all been given as their former station fell apart trying to keep bugs from breaking into the redoubt and keep bio security intact in deteriorating labs among the chaos clearly marked of course with company branding and “Bio station 6. Lab team.”, because they were paranoid bastards about even pens being taken and sold on any kind of post or illegal sale.

“I'm sure my bosses would find a way if I owed them student loans.” She said to the woman who seemed to be nearby, Brunette, one of humans, or this subspecies whichever they hailed from exactly. She was too tired to be exact in mind.

“Ren” She said as an introduction, falling almost into a seat with relief that her aching feet she had been on for hours now without rest had a short break before they had to try and make it to the last ships off planet.

Had she finally started hallucinating. That snake had a hand...?
