I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Cao Cao

Mount Miyama Shopping District

The modern world was absolutely fascinating. Even with knowledge of it implanted into his mind by the Grail, Cao Cao nonetheless deeply preferred to see it with his own eyes. Magi may have despised the onset of technology weakening magecraft, but he found himself admiring the ingenuity behind modern inventions. The world as it was may not have been the bastion of reason and logic he had envisioned, but it was still further along the path than it had been in his time.

Cao Cao considered his Master's question as they walked through the shopping district, glancing around at the fashions of those in the streets. Eventually, he settled on a decision.

I believe a three-piece suit would be suitable enough. Do they come in dark blue?

In the meantime, he continued glancing around the area, getting a feel for its layout. As a Servant unsuited to direct combat, knowledge of the surrounding area would be especially helpful for himself.
Been dead due to studying for finals, sorry.
Been dead for a while, sorry. Back now.

Cao Cao nodded at his Master's words, taking their options into consideration as he poured himself another bowl of wine. After a few more sips, he spoke.

"It would be more prudent of us to shore up our defenses for the time being. As it stands, I doubt the more tactically-oriented Master-Servant pairs would appear before the Overseer at this junction. Best to keep a familiar watching the Church, as I'm sure other Masters are in the process of doing." He set the wine bowl down after draining it.

"We should begin to survey the city during the day as well. Knowledge of the city's terrain will be an important factor in the battles to come." He frowned as he considered the difference between the level of his overall ability compared to what he believed his opponents to be.

"Should we move on to long term strategy, I believe I already have some strategems in mind." He set his hands on his knees as he sat, running through different scenarios in his head. "We will need to make alliances, especially with my lacking strength compared to those Servants of the Knight classes and Berserker. Ideally, we would be able to make an alliance with a Saber or Berserker, thus giving us an edge in frontline combat. However, I doubt they would easily trust an Assassin or the Master of one. Archer and Caster are also viable candidates, should we wish to take a more defensive approach to the War. Eliminating either of those classes would be easier as well, should simply killing their Master fail."

A pause as he stroked his beard in thought.

"Alternatively, deception is also a valid approach. Master, you mentioned being able to strengthen my weapons and armor, and possibly my body as well. I propose that we test that ability out once we are secured. If we can raise my parameters by at least one rank in only a few stats, I would be able to masquerade as a Saber, at least until a Caster faces me."
Cao Cao will be leaving his Master to make his plans while getting familiar with the layout of the city and acquiring modern clothing. Mainly a nice suit.

Assassin returned silently, revealing himself before Hisoka's table and taking a seat.

"Master, I've concluded my reconnaissance of the surrounding area. No familiars, Servants, or any form of surveillance around the estate. For the time being, we are secure." He stated before taking a sip of wine, nodding in satisfaction at the taste. With the report finished, he figured this would be a good time to delve into more tactical matters.

"For the time being, it would be a prudent idea to inform you about my capabilities. Given that you sought me out specifically as a Servant, I assume that you are aware that I proved incompetent at assassination in life." He pursed his lips at the thought, taking another sip of wine before continuing. "As such, my Presence Concealment is weaker than most other Assassins. However, I was fortunate enough to be summoned with the most useful Noble Phantasm in my arsenal." Cao Cao finished the wine, setting the drinking bowl down.

"Speak of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao Arrives. My Noble Phantasm operates exactly how the name describes. If someone speaks my name, I am capable of using Spatial Transference to transport myself to whomever spoke the words Cao Cao, with Presence Concealment active. However, they will know that something is in their presence. Used correctly, it would prove to be a quick decapitation blow to enemy Masters, or simply bypass their defenses entirely."

Cao Cao suppressed a frown at the use of Mandarin. He knew the language, from what the Grail had imprinted into his mind, and of why the Chinese language was in the state it was now, thanks to the Manchus, but thought it ugly compared to the Chinese language of his time. Still, he couldn't fault his Master for his use of it. Mandarin might as well be the only Chinese language spoken now. Cantonese sounded even worse to Assassin's ears.

Cao Cao nodded at Hisoka, replying in Japanese as he fell to his knees and clasped his fist in his other hand, saluting the man.

"I hear and understand, Master. With this, the contract binding us is sealed. This War, and our respective wishes, shall be ours for the taking." He murmured quietly, before disappearing in a flash as he engaged his Presence Concealment. Assassin began to do as he was bid, searching the surrounding area for any sign of surveillance.

In the dusty basement, a blue-robed man opened his eyes, rising from his kneeling stance as knowledge filled his mind. Knowledge of the era he was in, of the conflict he was slated to participate in, and of what his assigned role was...Servant Assassin?! Why? This was absurd. There had only been one instance in his life and legend where he attempted to be a stealthy killer, and he'd failed miserably.

The Servant knew instinctually that he had been summoned in the Class least suited to himself. If he had been summoned as Rider or Saber, the situation would be different, but the Noble Phantasm he had incarnated with...no, he could make do with this. There was no point in lamenting over a circumstance he could not control. He would simply have to accept it and use what was available to him. For his wish. For the land governed by reason and truth that his successors had utterly failed to achieve.

His land, the land now known as China, had undergone centuries of the same cycle of golden ages and eras of chaos. The world may have advanced, but people remained emotional, illogical, and fallible. The people had not changed. And they never would with incompetent men appointed to guide them.

This was why he had entered this War. To achieve the same dream that he'd had from the beginning.

"Servant Assassin." The man uttered in a rich baritone. "Are you the man who is to be my Master?"
